Inside MTV Reality: The Look Ahead - Back to the Sunshine State...

Right now along with dealing with the different world that we are living in, most of us are now getting used to the frigid temperatures that come with when the calendar turns to the month of December and when winter starts to kick in. But as this site made reference to back at the very beginning of this year, there is one place in the entire continental United States where the word "escape" rings so true.

The state of Florida has been a popular place within those in the community of those who do an MTV Reality show ever since it first went down here to film a series a quarter-century ago when Season 5 of The Real World documented that year's class having difficulty putting together a startup and saw a threesome in the shower we never saw behind those blinds. And along with seeing the first appearance of a seven-time Challenge champ, Florida and MTV Reality have become prominent the past few years.

The reason for this has been not just where the Jersey Shore originals made their grand return for their vacation, but also for the emergence of the younger siblings of two of MTV's legacy series at the start of the last decade who both call this state home. One of them knows what it's like to have a whole lot of fun like their neighbors to the north... the other are those cool kids who are rich and who have drama follow them all over town. And last winter, they warmed our winters in one moving to within an hour's drive of the other when we last heard from them when things were just normal. 

Of course, we are talking about Floribama Shore and Siesta Key... and as we await Season 4 of both of those shows in the new year, there is some news surrounding something that has never happened in Jersey's southern cousins, among other things in a Look Ahead to a return to the Sunshine State.

DC ExtraTime: Siesta Key Invades Ridiculousness

If you've been browsing through those story feeds on Instagram and SnapChat, you know where your MTV Reality favorites are doing in between episodes and seasons airing. But if you are part of the increasing section of this community who wishes that they'd be in Florida right now or will be traveling there soon, then there should reason for you to be excited.

A while back, we focused on castmates from two of MTV's boldest new additions to the lineup in the past few years coming together to attend the 2019 Video Music Awards. All but one of the Southern hotties of Floribama Shore and four of the cast from Siesta Key got to experience the big show in Newark, New Jersey. And during this month of September, they've made an additional trip back up to the Big Apple for promo and promotional material related to Season 3 of their shows to come our way in the fall & winter... and both shows know they got a lot of live up to after the first two seasons of their shows, both born out of the spirit paved by Jersey Shore and The Hills.

Over the weekend, a staple of the end of our week, Ridiculousness with lifelong MTV'er Rob Dyrdek, welcomed the one girl of the Key who loves to spy on goings-on with her clique, Chloe, as she joined Chanel West Coast and Steelo Brim on the couch where, instead of gossip, she got to dissect all that viral video on MTV's own America's Funniest Videos. She captioned on Instagram below, "Yooo this shit is ridiculous! Thanks so much for having me, I had too much fun!❤️🤪"  Two of her castmates chimed in with simple reactions, with Juliette saying simply, "AHHH👏🏼👏🏼😍🔥" and Madisson adding, "OMG OMG OMGGGGG!"

DC ExtraTime: Siesta Shore's VMA Jersey Takeover

In the past few years, there has been a wave in the way viewers have been getting their MTV: yes, satisfy everyone with what they've been offering in the shows that's been staples for years and offer new ones too... but also be mindful of those millennials who've grown up with the channel in the past two decades. Chris McCarthy and his team at 1515 Broadway have had this very fact in mind as one of their goals when they set the course to turn this channel around, and it's why things have been going upward as far as ratings and respect have been concerned.

A reason for two shows of our fairly recent past returning to our lives in the past two years in Jersey Shore in 2018 and The Hills this summer is because of what's been going on down in Florida: two shows inspired by the spirit of their predecessors out west and to the north, two that were launched out of the coveted spot of airing after Teen Mom, and who offer some contrasts. One is a docu-soap focusing on college-aged kids going through life in their small town located in one of America's greatest beach towns. The other is part of a global TV franchise that is simply, "a comedy with heart," and brings to everyone the flavor of the American South.

There have been romances on both shows, drama going down in just about every episode, and people who channel what viewers of a previous generation had with LC, the Situation and the rest of those who grew up with two of MTV's biggest hits. And compared to what the likes of Snooki, Speidi and the rest of those who they watched growing up, there's also an emotional attachment among those people that proves that there is something human and relatable in them that strikes a chord with viewers.

In TV land, the first two seasons of these shows may be some separated by some 400 miles of highway, but it seems that helping give people reason to watch MTV once again has united the casts of these shows. And it took for the platform of the channel's single biggest night for the casts of Siesta Key and Floribama Shore to come together, all ahead of their upcoming third seasons.
