DC ExtraTime: Playing The EXGAMES

With The Challenge: Total Madness now in the books, now begins the speculation of what next season for the show might be. It's still a long way off of who might be given the call to go into what will sure be the strangest season ever for the show as it now tackles a boat load of things that we really don't even want to elaborate on right now. Whatever the case, it has to follow what might not be the best season ever after tonight's back-half of the reunion, but one that has kept those hungry for some competitive action entertained during this COVID-cased quarantine lockdown.

It was a year ago at this time that we were in the midst of the summer offseason in between the two War of the Worlds seasons, and during the summer of 2019 Facebook's revival of The Real World brought three seasons in Atlanta, Thailand and Mexico City to social media. But from the MTV front - and aside from Big Brother 21, love was in the air in the revolutionary all-LGBT themed Season 8 of Are You The One? and Season 3 of the U.S version of Ex On The Beach. Once again, familiar MTV faces from fairly recently in alumni from AYTO, The Challenge and Real World to one of the biggest in Making the Band's Aubrey O'Day were part of the drama as were #Marlena of BB19.

However, when it came to those figures who made connections among everyone in last year's EOTB house, the one romantic ecosystem that stole much of the buzz surrounded that of Cameron Armstrong, who three years ago competed on the musical competition series Boy Band and then returned to the ABC network in a small role of a nurse on the cop drama The Rookie. He found himself in a love triangle with two exes - one of which was still living with him in Ariana Nova, and another who she crashed his getaway date with singer Alexis McNeal. And he had to face the music with both of his exes when the threesome were summoned into the Shack of Secrets, and where awaiting them was a day in The Exes Court with Judge Devin Walker, and where another ex, Jocelyn, came walking in as a witness.

We might not know at this early stage what the theme for Season 36 of The Challenge might be, but if there is a season that might involve lovers that might come down the road, then shockingly two of the three figures might figure into the mix of who might be casted. That belongs to those former exes who still have feelings for each other if it just on a amicable level than most other pairs of EOTB exes, and it's all because of their own homemade challenge series fittingly called, ExGames.

It is the post Halloween weekend, and as you get a chance to party, unwind from the spookiness of Thursday's festivities and have more of that leftover candy, we are back and well rested from the trip last weekend out to Las Vegas, and now we're ready to bring you the DCBLOG SocialPulse of MTV Reality... where ahead, the game gets dirty out in Challenge land. But first, there is some unfinished business to attend to in the game of love.

Season 3 of Ex On The Beach is in the books, which began in warmer weather than we have outside our doors with another set of familiar MTV names from The Challenge, Real World and Are You The One? (the Trifecta as we call them around here), joining those from other reality shows and the girl who had her start on the channel as part of the most famous iteration of the next old-school series to be rebooted in Aubrey O'Day from Making The Band and Danity Kane. We had the usual abundance of big time drama, shocking entrances and, of course, lots of love as most everyone in the house got involved in what is the "ultimate relations-XXX" show.

All that's left before the beach is closed for the season is bringing together those who went through this always entertaining, cringe-worthy and spine-tingling experience for a season-ending reunion and see what has happened with the singles and the exes since they left paradise after the last Crush ceremony. Two of Bachelor Nation's newest newlyweds, Ashley Iaconetti & Jared Haibon who met each other on Bachelor in Paradise and who witnessed the hot mess known as Hurricane Chad on Season 3 -- will serve as emcees of this gab-fest, and we'll find out who's still in honeymoon time, who's called time on their relationship and who decided to slip back into their exes' beds.

Welcome back... earlier on this Sunday we brought you a backtracked installment of the Ex On The Beach SocialPulse as the summer for those Singles who entered Season 3 back in July has begun to wind down towards its conclusion. But before they head on out back home before reconvening in New York City for the reunion, there is some unfinished business to attend to: the truth.

All ten of the Singles who started in the house -- including the subjects of our ExtraTime follow-up on them earlier, the Kaplan Twins -- are facing a lie detector to see if they are or aren't being truthful in their relationships, being joined by a few Exes who've returned for one more chance to rekindle things and get answers... and as we return here, we'll find out the question that's haunted the biggest threesome in the house: did a Big Brother alum and Danity Kane's biggest star get it on? Hello there and welcome back... most everywhere, you can see that you're feeling fall outside your door. But if you're living in California, Florida, Hawaii or Las Vegas, summer is still in the air... but soon enough, the sign with the word "CLOSED" will adorn the sands of Ex On The Beach as Season 3 is heading towards its conclusion out in Malibu.

When we last left Southern California -- at least to us here at DCBLOG, sunset came for the couple with the biggest standing both to casuals and to summer TV viewers when Aubrey and Mark decided to call things off, which left her ex Coffey in a precarious spot. And Mechie also found himself at a crossroads with his ex Ariana and the season's last Ex entry, Kellie. But the rest of the house found themselves shook with the season's last Cut Ceremony, which saw an Ex and her ex get sent packing.

As summer reaches its end here, the sign that we are almost at the end of the road comes in this penultimate week... those who saw season 1 last year and then season 2 in this spring got a scare when Tor'i, Farrah and the Exes voted out returned with revenge on their minds. This season's class will have some familiar (and for one, an unfamiliar) face reemerge to shake things up before the beach is closed. And this comes at a most opportune time for everyone here: a lie detector test will see some of the Singles have to show their honesty and own up to their past messiness.

Welcome on back here as we at DCBLOG now delve into bringing you the 'Pulse of Ex On The Beach 3... and perhaps there isn't a better place for it to be brought into the public spotlight than this week thanks to what we saw last week.

Previously in Malibu, two couples found themselves at a crossroads: only weeks ago did they go on a date, but Aubrey and Mark found themselves in a different place than it was there when they went with her ex Coffey... and Devin's relationship with his ex also found itself in a bad place when he began to see Shannon and after his ex's ex arrived. And Mechie and Ariana were awarded the season's last getaway trip outside the villa, while Billy saw one of his past exes join in the fun too.

In this land of the endless summer, it is nearing sunset of this season and this week it's the summer's last Cut Ceremony... and this time not one, but two Exes will get the flight back home. Not only will that go down this week -- one couple will officially call things off with one of their exes also finding themselves in the middle of all this. And for the one with the tattoos, Blac Chyna's ex will also find himself split between his Ex and his Next and placing the one he dated last week in a precarious spot.

Welcome on back, and as the television season as those in broadcast network land see it, things are now fairly calm when it comes to romantic reality television goes, with Bachelor Nation now taking  a breather after this year's trilogy and just ahead of next month's big return of Temptation Island. But for those in need of some love in reality TV, you have some company now until then with MTV's Ex On The Beach, as we now bring you the Pulse of it here now.

Last week in Malibu, those in the house who moved in when this all began in July were put on pins and needles as their exes turned the table on them for the mid-season Cut ceremony that would send one of the originals home. But while most of the attention has been on Cameron and his treatment of Ariana and Alexis, he can thank those lucky stars that he wasn't the one who got sent home. Instead, it was her getting flowers from her man back home that gave the exes reason to send one-half of the Kaplan twins home when they voted off Allie.

Summer is fast approaching its end in Ex land, and this week sees turning points for two couples: two originals who went on the last Crush date are finding themselves at a crossroads for their relationship and another pair who went outside the house earlier this summer may also head that way with one of them pursuing a relationship with a new ex. The summer's last Crush Date will be handed out, but that doesn't mean that one of the couples this week will be given a free pass. And we're headed back to the beginning... the beginning of this century, that is... for a Y2K house party.

As you all get to wrap up what's been an amazing TV week on this Emmys Sunday, welcome back here to the Blog as we continue to pinch ourselves after bringing you how those of you reacted to last week's madness that was Week 4 of The Challenge: War of the Worlds 2... so much so that we needed a bit more time to rest after we brought you the Pulse of that back on Saturday night. Meanwhile, the drama has continued to intensify over in Malibu as we press on with Ex On The Beach 3.

Last week, there were hearts on offer for the latest crush date, which saw one of those we featured yesterday in our ExtraTime story on Hearts of Reality, Mark, being brought on a getaway date with Aubrey and her ex Coffey, which saw them share some moments in bed... yes, a threesome for you. There was more drama surrounding Cameron as the house began to join viewers at home in turning on him... and we had Halloween arrive early when the circus came to town.

If you've been watching the first two seasons of EOTB, it's always tense when the message in a bottle comes up like those dollars in those '90s magic Coke cans. This week, the tables are turned when Cut week arrives as, this time, it's the Singles who are feeling the heat as the Exes have power in who they want to send home. This comes at a most opportune time for them when they find out some big tea from back home... and the man who dated a Kardashian's ex will finally see the spotlight turn to him as the endless summer rolls along.

Welcome back... earlier here this Saturday, we brought you the first power move of The Challenge: War of the Worlds 2 when Big Brother alum Josh made a gutsy power move that eventually saw Wes get eliminated at the hands of Bear. The Brit who just had his biggest moment of his young Challenge career is an alum of the UK version of the show that came along with his nation's invasion of the fifth major pro sport, Ex On The Beach, and Season 3 of the American iteration rolls along during a week that saw an original, Season 1'er Chase, enter Bachelor in Paradise.

Bear knows what it's like to witness love triangles with some of his Team UK teammates during his two stints in the infamous villa, and last week saw the U.S. version's latest one continue to unravel. And Cameron has turned from a boy band wannabe and a doctor on a crime drama into the unsung star of this season... and last week he & his exes Ariana and Alexis were sent down into the Shack of Secrets to face Judge Devin in court, and his roommate came by to testify before the ladder was the latest Ex to be sent packing in the Cut votes.

This week, it's back to giving away hearts and a Crush Date for the Malibu residents, and the spotlight turns, at least temporarily, to the headlining single of this cast one who saw her ex come by last week and create a competition for her heart - and that includes someone Mr. Pots & Pans is familiar with. Yes, there will be more drama surrounding Cam as the uneasiness the house has with him continues... but not everything will be dramatic: the three-ring extravaganza known as a circus will be heading to the hilltop this week. That means, Halloween comes early.

DC ExtraTime: Mechie Goes to... Divorce Court(?!)

This week's episode of Ex On The Beach saw us go into something that you've likely have seen in either passing it by on your way to work and school, and a handful of you have walked into: court. When we saw Cameron, Alexis and Ariana head into the Shack of Secrets this week, we were all shook that they had to confront the truth about his ways with them, and a roommate of his being called to the witness stand. But you can't help but giggle a bit at the sight of one of the most divisive people we have in MTV Reality, Devin, becoming Judge Walker with a judge's outfit on.
   The genre of court shows has has been around longer than most of you think: it began in the 1930's on radio and moved to television when it began to become commonplace afterwards. Simply out, they are programs that present legal hearings between plaintiffs and defendants, and a judge overseeing the proceedings which typically focuses on small claims court cases. Early court shows presented dramatizations of actual court cases acted out by actors and a pseudo-judges, including one in the '50s hosted by future ABC Sports broadcaster Jim McKay, while the most famous court program of its era was the venerable Perry Mason... and this was the standard until the '80s.

In 1981, the court genre as most take it now began when The People's Court debuted as the first court show to bring real cases and real people in arbitrary litigation to settle disputes between neighbors, families and inmates, turning Judge Wapner into a daytime star in the 80s, and Marilyn Milian carries on his legacy today. It is one of the many reality-based court shows that fill local TV stations' daytime schedules today, including Judge Judy with retired New York judge Judy Sheindlin among others. And this fall sees venerable talk show legend (and a friend of MTV staple Nelson Thomas) Jerry Springer premiere his own entry into this genre, Judge Jerry.
   But neither of those shows lays claim to being TV's longest-running court program: Divorce Court began in 1957 on future FOX station KTTV in Los Angeles and was a highly-rated show both locally and in syndication during that time and in the 80's. Previously a scripted-based series, Divorce Court returned in 1999 as part of the reality court boom and this month sees it begin its twenty first season (and 35th overall) of settling disputes of couples going through divorces. Former Cleveland area municipal court judge, Lynn Toler, has presided over the proceedings for over a decade, and who hears such juicy items as betrayal, trust and infidelity.

Someone who has yet to have an ex emerge onto the beach at just about the halfway point of this season is Mechie "So Crazy" Harris, and as of now we've seen him in just a few scenes so far here - outside of interviews & commentary. But when that time comes for the spotlight to turn to him in Malibu, it will be during a time where he's made up for the relative lack of screen time in Malibu with releasing his video for "Wanna Be Your Man" which, this week, crossed the 1 million views barrier. And last week, he played in Ludacris' Labor Day weekend celeb basketball game in Atlanta alongside Tyrese, Jamie Foxx, Durkiooo, YFN Lucci, Blac Youngsta and the Hawks' Trae Young.
   While in the same city that hosted the just concluded Real World season - and where he also headlined the Taste of Soul music festival in downtown, Mechie paid a visit to Divorce Court -- not to have to hear details about a case brought against him, but to promote its new season which premiered this week, and for which it tapes its episodes in Atlanta. There - and as seen in the videos below, he joined Judge Toler and the show's host & reporter Nick Barrotta to chat about what viewers can expect in the new season.

It's a Sunday Funday... and wherever you are we hope you are enjoying the last hours of this first weekend of the fall, which includes our first NFL Sunday festival of football and on a night that sees one of our subjects from last year, Big Brother romance Swayleigh, return to the big house tonight after this past week's juicy double elimination. And it's elimination week in Malibu as well as we bring you back here for the Pulse of Week 8 of Ex On The Beach 3.

Last week a lot went on in Ex land, including a Crush Date with Cameron and his ex on the countryside when then was invaded by another one of his exes and turned this romance into a threesome with him, Alexis and Ariana. The Bash Brothers of this house, Mark and Billy, were at it again with the Kaplan twins... while we had another house party: this time it was an ER-themed shindig after Kenya returned from a brief stay in hospital attending to personal matters.

This week, the threesome is once again the focus, as this time they are summoned to court and the man at the heart of the matter stands trial for crimes against his Exes... and you'll never guess who is the judge. For our lone Big Brother rep in the house and the star lady of this season, they may have some company coming to the house in this week's Ex arrival. And the hilarity of what we've seen here continues with some sumo wresting.

Welcome back... earlier today on this Saturday, we brought you the 'Pulse of the premiere of The Challenge: War of the Worlds 2 as Teams USA and the United Kingdom began their battle for supremacy in Thailand. The end result of the season's first elimination battle saw an alum of one of television's biggest international formats, Love Island, take out the win just after this summer's series of the original UK and new American versions airing. Love is also in the air, as it has been all summer, in Malibu as we now bring you the 'Pulse of Ex On The Beach 3.

When we last left Southern California, the Kaplan twins were the focus of the house: Lexi's soccer-playing ex Max came in as the only newcomer to come in last week, but they were not the only visitors to come over. Their mom and manager, Amy, came by to spill some tea about the ex... the first time that we know of that a parent of any single or ex has come by to the EOTB house, something that's been a staple of Are You The One?. And in the week's Cut ceremony, Shannon shed tears when Anthony was sent packing.

This week, there's plenty of activity going on in the hills: a Crush Date will be awarded to one of the singles here, as again the Cuts and Crushes are now in alternate weeks. But this week's Ex arrival could spell trouble for a rekindled romance, while another single returns to the house after an illness saw them take a trip to the hospital for some necessary R&R. There's more action involving the resident bromance of this house, while our latest house party sees the house head to the hospital... but not because of an accident.

Well, welcome to what Derrick Kosinski likes to call on his podcast "Fight Week"... and in the case of this site, it's the week that a new season of The Challenge will debut. And in two days, it's War of the Worlds 2, and we've just posted our season preview on here. But for now, love rules in MTV Reality as we enter the last week of the summer, including our view of this week on Season 3 of Ex On The Beach.

Last week in Malibu, someone who got his start on MTV as a single on Are You The One Season 3 (which will not have representation on this coming Challenge for the first time), Devin, got rung up for making mention of a love scale to his date ex Marie, and her being ranked in the middle. It's not the only thing on her mind, as the one she flirted with in that run-down Challenge Invasion shack, Anthony, popped up on the beach, while Billy made his move on a Kaplan twin.

It was what happened last week that sticks with the Statitude girl, as this week, it's Cut Week for the exes to endure as the Singles try to do what they can to send home an Ex that's making sure a friend won't be sent packing. Meanwhile, the focus shifts to this season's sister act, as Mama Kaplan decides to take a cue from the annual visit of family to the AYTO house and become the first parent to drop into the Ex villa... all as someone from their past is coming in.

We are in the midst of the Summer of Love in the world of reality television: traditional summer staple Bachelor in Paradise, the new U.S. version of Love Island that just concluded, and in the minds of fans of MTV Reality, Season 8 of Are You The One, and Season 3 of the American take on MTV's global franchise, Ex On The Beach.
   To us here at this site, it's not officially a new season of either EOTB or The Challenge until we get to answer a burning question you and other fans have whenever we get to begin watching once again when it premieres: "Who Are These Newbies?" We feel that you, the fans, should get to know a bit more about anyone who crosses into MTV lines for the first time when they are cast on the "ultimate relations__ show" or if they're competing with TJ Lavin and friends as as a first-time rookie or as a returning veteran.

For Ex On The Beach, we've brought this preseason Challenge tradition over to this show to answer this question by informing you of anyone of particular interest that comes over from reality TV and the pop culture spectrum into the EOTB house. Like we do with the fifth major pro sport, we offer these people the proper welcome and the respect that they deserve, for which we have profiled over 100 of them in our years covering the MTV beat, most recently the international newcomers that came to the War of the Worlds Challenge, and with more to come in its sequel. And our goal is to help MTV fans like you get to know to them, show you who they are, what they're about and the backstory of their time on reality TV before they come to the EOTB house.
   Anywhere you go, the Ex phenomenon often casts those from other reality series in the native homeland, as well as outside of what the Brits call "factual entertainment," all for the sake of putting them through hell for a few months for our viewing pleasure and enjoyment. And after featuring the new dad of the MTV Challenge family, a Teen Mom, a Big Brother houseguest turned Challenger and others, season 3 of the American adaptation of this format won't be any different. The cast here is once again over 20 of them in all - 25 to be exact, with over half of them having appeared on reality TV before and eight being familiar to MTV fans. But unlike last season, there's those who haven't appeared as yet on reality TV and are making their debuts here.

For our EOTB 2 Newbies posts last time out, we featured six singles (Chad, Cheyenne, Corey, Janelle, Maya and Morgan) and five exes (Murray, Cory, Jay, Monte and JD) - and as it was with War of the Worlds it was split into two parts. Here, we will have just this one post to profile five singles on their own, two other singles who as a pair of twins will count as one for the sake of this site, and one of the notable exes who came into the house straight off of a breakup.
   But as is tradition, you will not be seeing those who came from other MTV Reality shows being profiled in this post. That includes two AYTO alumni with the same first name, one who was in love on her original Real World, and their related exes coming into the house at various points during this season... only if they cross over into The Challenge as a rookie do we get to write about them again. Do search around this site to learn about them, their progress and backstory.

Welcome back... as the weekend comes to a close here this late in the summer, things are heating up for those in the MTV Reality game with a new Challenge season now over a week away, and plenty of other things going on now and will be revealed when the music world gathers next week in New Jersey for the Video Music Awards. That includes Season 3 of Ex On The Beach, where last week the spotlight was on an alum of a singer and actor, Cameron, as he saw his musician ex, Alexis, come on shore and create a threesome among them and his crush in the house, Geles. The ongoing telenovela that is #Shanthony continued to roll along, while the Billy's ex Cara was given the Cut.

If you've followed the whole run of the lone Challenger to move into the house at the start, then you know Devin has had his moments in his seven previous MTV stints: him saving his AYTO cast with those infamous red Solo cups after he played Kiki, his obsession with Johnny Bananas, hearing the wrath of Cardi B's sister on Champs vs. Stars, and the Final Reckoning food fight. This week adds another moment to that list, as it's Crush week in the house with no worries about any Exes getting cut. But there is someone familiar to MTV fans invading the beach this week at this week's Ex entry, all while the resident heartthrob puts some moves on one-half of the twins... all as the first house party of the summer (and soon to be, autumn) takes place

DC SocialPulse: Ex On The Beach Season 3 - "Cam You Feel The Love Tonight"

This week, romantic reality TV fans have gotten more than their money's worth, with the return of Bachelor in Paradise, a trailer drop of season 2 of Temptation Island, and the season finale of Love Island USA with lovebirds Zac Mirabelli & Elizabeth Weber emerging as king & queen of the islands of Fiji. But MTV also has its own wild romantic reality show: Ex On The Beach, and Season 3 is ongoing just as parent company Viacom is ready to tie the knot again with CBS.

Last week in Southern California, the second person of this summer's expanded slate of cast members with ties to The Challenge arrived when Real World St. Thomas alum and 5-time Challenger Marie came up on shore as Devin's ex, and another member of last year's Are You The One crew, Tevin, also emerged to surprise his ex, Kenya. A nighttime party similar to what those who follow AYTO are used to also took over the house in the Kaplan Twins hosting it replete with paint (of course), and we welcomed a new twist in a Crush date as well.

This season's set of singles features two musicians, and one who had his beginnings in the world of television as a singer and a contestant on a music competition series two years ago this week takes center stage and has to answer the question of whether to rekindle things with his ex or go a different direction. Another couple will find also themselves in a precarious spot of whether they are a couple or not, just as the exes are awaiting another Cut vote that will send an Ex home.

Hello there and welcome to the month of August... the last full month of summer. And as we head into the ladder days of this warmest time of the year, the love is certainly in the air as we at DCBLOG now bring you into the week that was in MTV Reality and this 2019 Summer of Love, starting here with Season 3 of Ex On The Beach.

There's been plenty of good stuff in the first two weeks of this junior year installment of the "ultimate relationsXXX show," and last week saw some juicy stuff go down. We had our first visit to the Shack of Secrets of this summer when the first couple of a single & ex of this season, Big Brother 19 lovebirds turned exes Mark and Elena, went downstairs for a date that turned into one from hell when the women he swiped right for after their Valentine's Day breakup returned into his life, all before the Dallas radio personality became the first ex to get Cut and crushed. And we saw Anthony's other AYTO ex Shannon come back into his life, this time to also get a drink thrown in his face.

If you remember the first week of February, we were all buzzing about that epic week with the debut of War of the Worlds, the season 2 finale of Floribama Shore and two epic entrances: Kailah coming to Greece to turn Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club upside down and Angela returning to Ex On The Beach to eventually settle things with her ex Tor'i. That will be revisited in some way this week when our latest ex to come from The Challenge comes walking up onto the shore, along with a fairly recent ex of the past twelve months. Our resident twins bring what they do best to the mansion, while a new twist brings the house belief that there is something nice to look forward to now.

Well, hey there folks... it's a Saturday night and it's the last weekend of July. And as we continue to plow our way through the dog days of summer, we at DCBLOG have something good for you here: a double shot of the SocialPulse during this 2019 Summer of Love in MTV Reality.

Last week, the main course of the year's hottest season in meteorology, Season 3 of Ex On The Beach U.S., began with Romeo welcoming our latest class of singles from MTV, other reality series and twins from the place that's given us reason to stay in this weekend for the last season of #OITNB in a series on Netflix. Though everyone had an idea of what was to come unlike the first two seasons of this, there was some unfinished business right off the bat when two exes came to dinner date night at the house, one of them being Geles' AYTO Season 6 ex, Anthony M.

The other ex who crashed opening night was Big Brother 19 alum Mark's ex, Elena, who broke up with him on Valentine's Day - and that is still very much fresh during a time where a lot of you BB fans are revolting over what you've had to put up through the past month on Season 21. But this week, there is more juicy stuff to emerge with #Marlena as we take our first trip this season into the Shack of Secrets, where things have a tendency to get a bit out of control. And as the house focuses on the summer's first Cut or Crush, another wave of exes will arrive that will teach us how to be ourselves, and to make the choice of going for love once again or going for some revenge.

If you love summer - even if you have to endure the heatwave gripping many of you this weekend, then it's likely you have a place in your heart for those reality shows where love is the name of the game. Summer 2019 is no different, with Are You The One's historic sexually-fluid, The Bachelorette heading towards its conclusion with Bachelor in Paradise looming, the new U.S. version of global sensation Love Island rolling along in Fiji, and the headlining act in the minds of this site in this Summer of Love: MTV's Ex On The Beach.
   Season 2 of the U.S. iteration of this global MTV format earlier this winter saw the circus head to Malibu, California for a season that was filmed prior to last year's devastating wildfires. An all-star reality cast headlined by Farrah of Teen Mom and Chad of The Bachelor took to paradise, and were joined by a slew of familiar faces to MTV viewers and those who watch all kinds of reality TV around the dial for a memorable season. We saw Challenger Nicole get close to bad Chad, the love triangle of AYTO alums Malcolm, Nurys and Diandra, another threesome in CBS reality stars Corey, Morgan and Jay, and the LGBT community represented in Jozea.
   This summer's class of singles have gathered in the Southern California sun for the latest renewal of Ex in America, and once again we have the pleasure of having a mixture of household names and those who are known to the MTV crowd taking occupancy. The headliner of our Season 3 cast is one who made her debut 15 years ago on MTV and who's been around the reality world with stints in Danity Kane in between: Aubrey O'Day. She is joined by Are You The One alumni Devin, Geles and Kenya; by "Nick the Gardener" of Ellen fame, aka Billy; Big Brother alum Mark, and other notables from the pop culture world, as Romeo Miller again will oversee this love-fest, which sees the singles move in this week along with the first wave of exes and the word that this show is different.

MTV Reality: Welcome to Ex On The Beach Season 3

It's now July and the second half of 2019, and MTV Reality TV has sure given us plenty of talk about and enjoy. Things are a bit different this time: no Challenge season for us to cover for the first summer in a few years, but it's hardly an offseason in this year-round binge-fest of ours. We're a few weeks into life a decade wiser and older for those we grew up watching in the cast of The Hills and Teen Mom originals Maci, Catelynn and Amber. This week, they've been joined by their counterparts to the East in Jersey Shore as they return amidst one of their own getting hitched before going behind bars. And The Real World is rolling along on Facebook as our current class of seven strangers going through life, love and social issues down in Atlanta as well as in Mexico City and Thailand.

Our focus here is on the Summer of Love, which saw the debut of a trend-setting new season of Are You The One with sexually-fluid singles, which has already opened our eyes to the LGBT world getting its own reality dating show for the first time. And on a lesser note, the global phenomenon that gave us UK Challengers Theo and Georgia, Love Island, has just debuted here as those in America are getting to see what the finalists of War of the Worlds have gone through. But our main attraction in this Summer of Love will again be on the show that is a combination of love fest, reality fest and fun fest for those who both love and pretend to love but deep inside hate this genre.
   Ex On The Beach came into our lives on this side of the Atlantic a year ago when four other Brits who ignited the international invasion of The Challenge brought with them the show that mixed what a Challenge baby daddy went through the first time he was on MTV with a romantic dating series gone wild. Season 1 saw the start of what's now a Teen Mom OG storyline in Cory Wharton dating fellow single (and a friend of Jake Paul's) Taylor Selfridge, while introducing us to Big Brother turned Challenge star Paulie and a romance that continued to last season. Also during Season 2, we saw a Teen Mom take her talents to the beach, the continuation of an AYTO love triangle, another triangle that crossed the old Viacom street; a Challenge & Bachelor romance, and the LGBT community as well.

After a season full of jaw-dropping drama, explosive conflict and a whole lot of love, Ex On The Beach U.S. returns in a few days with another stellar season full of stars that MTV fans know and those from the entire reality TV community and even YouTube who will no doubt have their hands full by the sight of their ex coming ashore. Nothing will be left behind as a group of singles and their exes will have to have the music all over again, including a man who loves foamers and returns from having battled a GOAT to where his MTV career began in search of love. We'll also reconnect with a lady whose journey to music stardom started on MTV on a precursor of the modern musical talent craze, a man with abs who loves to go gardening, and many more as we again will find out to the answer of the question, "Can you really get over your Ex?"
   With all of these ingredients, we are guaranteed to have plenty of love, drama, craziness, makeups, breakups and heartbreak by the beach. And after the jump, we look ahead at what awaits us in Cali, acquaint those new to the show to what it's all about, and of course introduce the stars of this season as a new season begins tonight.
