Inside MTV Reality: Floribama Shore Heads Out West

We have just past the fifty-day mark of 2021, though a lot of you think that we are probably heading into the 420th day of 2020 judging by what has happened in the nearly fifteen months of the second year of the twenty-twenties. But those of you who have been in need of an escape have turned to reality TV to look for exactly that, and now as March awaits we are on the edge of kicking off an exciting spring in the world of reality television as MTV gets to see it.

Right now, Season 36 of The Challenge has entered the 2nd half of its quest to identify the ultimate pair of Double Agents, while Teen Mom OG has begun Year #12 as it follows the second pregnancy of Challenge & Are You The One alum Cheyenne Floyd. Late next week, CBS All Access will evolve into Paramount+, where one of its premiere offerings is a reunion in New York City of the very first cast of The Real World. And out in Las Vegas, the fourth Family Vacation of the Jersey Shore cast is winding up its winter with the impending entry into parenthood for Mike the Situation & wife Lauren.

And as soon as he, Snooki & the gang check out of their bubble, a group of cousins from the South will be waiting there on the tarmac to gladly take the baton from them and continue the tradition of all-out fun on Thirsty Thursday. Floribama Shore will return for Season 4 this week as they will shift their base of operations from the new capital of American sport where they were at last year, to just a few hours' flight away from Sin City.

This time, they'll be heading to the territory of an all-time Challenge badass where they'll exchange some of their beach wear for layers as they will venture up into the mountains of Montana and a cabin that will be a totally new sight to most of them. They'll also venture down to somewhat more familiar conditions of the sunshine, and a past host to some of MTV's Spring Break festivities, Lake Havasu, Arizona, located in between Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Phoenix in the heart of the desert.

Regardless of the setting, there will be plenty to look forward to as Aimee, Candace, Codi, Gus, Kirk, Nilsa and Jeremiah reunite once again for their fourth season together. As they will be in their own bubble, they will have to face the music of what went down last year and whatever might be coming up when they are all trapped in a house during the midst of this pandemic. But there will be a lot more in store including the fun we know and love about this bunch, and the news of THAT life-changer.

But before we think about what comes up, we have to look back to what went down last year in St. Pete Beach. We'll look back at that and look ahead to the Floribama group heading out west just ahead...

Welcome back... it may feel like ages ago considering all that has happened since, but it was in the late autumn of last year that we continued a new early winter tradition on the MTV calendar: a trip down to Florida for a show born in the tradition of its biggest-ever hit, but unique in its own way in bringing what fans loved about Jersey Shore to the American South. Well here we are at the end of February and on the edge of the madness of Spring Break, as Season 3 of Floribama Shore is wrapping up its stay in its new locale of St. Pete Beach.

When we last left this Tampa Bay Area suburb on the outskirts of St. Petersburg earlier this weekend, a man who's been doing bodybuilding in Vegas this weekend, Jeremiah, found himself isolated from everyone - continuing a winter of discontent in losing a good friend in Gus and then getting close to his Challenge friend Mattie. So, he looked to one thing to help lift his spirits: calling brother Josh to come by, and considering what's happened the first two summers it's not gone well. And something a bit unusual but familiar took place on the group's last few nights of partying here.

That would be of Codi buying roses for Candace, and it sparked some fireworks with his good friend Kirk in the bar and back home. As we rejoin things, the house is once again unraveling as they did at the end of their first and second summers here... but the group will try what they can to work out any and all unresolved issues in house relationships before they leave. And for the king and queen of this palace, will they stay true to the saying that "third time is the charm?" Perhaps, something that's a favorite food of ours may have the answer to that.

We have made it to Friday and the end of the short work week thanks to the Washington's Birthday & Valentine's Day holidays last week. And we bring you into the week that was Inside MTV Reality -- well, make that the past week or so in this world as we are about to bring you a backtracked edition of the DCBLOG SocialPulse as we head towards the end of what's no doubt been an entertaining third season of Floribama Shore from the Sunshine State.

When we last left St. Pete Beach (which was a couple weeks ago our time here), we were offered with yet another new tradition being born in front of our eyes in the wild ritual of baby birding being made mainstream. But it's safe to say that Jeremiah has had a rough third summer in Florida: he lost a fellow friend in Gus, he had a connection with a close friend of his from War of the Worlds last year Mattie... but a beach day out with the group caused him to isolate himself from them.

Summer for the crew is rapidly reaching its conclusion and with spirits running low with him, Jeri is once again asking someone to come over for support from back home. It's the arrival of someone familiar that will once again strike nerves for everyone in the house, and it may not help in his cause to further deepen his relationship with the house newbie. But what happens when something as simple as flowers can spark one of THOSE moments that can only happen here?

Welcome back... reality TV fans tonight got to witness the first act of Season 40 of the show that brought the genre to network television in Survivor. And after those of you out west have just seen 20 past champions join Jeff Probst for the start of the $2 million season there around the tribal council campfire, we've saved a seat this late night to bring you another part of the newly expanded Viacom/CBS reality slate, MTV's Floribama Shore - which believe it or not is headed towards the end of Season 3 in Florida.

Previously down in St. Pete Beach, a night of partying saw Nilsa flash her boobs to the streets below, and the house had to scramble to bail her out of jail in the latest episode of Cops and Floribama colliding at one intersection. The reason for that night partying was for Kortni deciding to return, but the anxiety of what she had to go through led her to leave for good after another meltdown. But there was some good news in Aimee getting a message and some waxing in anticipation of her boyfriend, Dillon, coming to town.

As we return to this suburb of the Tampa/St. Petersburg area - and similar to what has happened to Juliette over in Siesta Key, isolation is once again causing one of the group to be all alone, and that will give everyone some frustration and it may drive his crush away as well. And that person will resort to a last chance to keep themselves afloat to bringing in a familiar but but not so friendly face back into the lives of everyone. And if you thought Puke and Rally is the order of the day on a party night, then wait until you find out about the latest craze taking over the house: baby birding.

After such an eventful January, we welcome you to the month of February... and the attention this weekend is on the state of Florida. And there are particular reasons that we consider this winter to be Sunshine Season around here: America and the world are in Miami and South Beach for Super Bowl LIV between the Chiefs and the Niners. And over in Central Florida, two of MTV's sunniest hits are sharing the spotlight this winter, including Floribama Shore - taking place outside of Tampa Bay, where next season's NFL championship will be held.

As for what's going on right now, last week the roommates returned to their homebase after their crazy family party in South Carolina, and they rolled along with the partying as they celebrated the 4th of July. This gave reason for Mattie and Jeremiah got to deepen their budding relationship, and also for Kortni to return to the house while trying to escape the carnival that is Logan being released from jail. Other than those, their patriotic holiday didn't go exactly as planned: him trying to make crawfish almost led to their food being burned away, and a wild club night that ended in handcuffs.

At the end of all that, Nilsa decided to flash herself to the streets below, and she was apprehended by local authorities for public indecent exposure... and this week the house scrambles to bail her out of jail - the latest instance of police and Floribama colliding after what happened to Aimee last year. Meanwhile, the anxiety of returning to SPB to escape her ex and being sick may cause Kortni to reconsider a decision that may have been a premature one. And there is a boyfriend coming to town, as the Mermaid decides to go for a message and get some waxing done before he arrives.

Welcome back... it's been a tough week for a lot of you out there. But let's hope we can bring some enlightenment to this end of this week and month as we bring you the Pulse of Floribama Shore, and things heating up down in the Sunshine State.

Previously, the group split up into two: the guys to South Carolina to visit Codi's family while the girls went to Nashville as Nilsa paid tribute to her fallen friend and Mattie decided to spend the rest of her summer down in St. Pete Beach. But once the ladies came to join the fellas, they invited some of their parents along for them too. And if what we saw the first time out at the end of season 1 was something, it was blown away by one of the most exciting parties you'll ever see in MTV Reality: Kookapoo, slip 'n slides and lots of fun for both young and old alike.

As the roommates return to SPB, the endless summer rolls along with it as well, and the 4th of July brings out both patriotic pride and the propane for a barbecue... but the group will discover that the combination of those and matches aren't a good mix, especially when it comes to having a slice of Mattie's Cajun roots. After some flirting when she came, she and Jeremiah begin to explore their relationship a bit more, just as Kortni makes the trip back down south as the saga with her & her ex emerge. And what happens when a night out turns into something else?

Welcome back... if there's a place to be this winter, it's likely you'll pick Florida for that it's shorts weather this time of year and you can simply relax on the beach instead of shivering in the snow. MTV has done that here with Siesta Key in it having just premiered its third season this past week, and not far from that suburb of Sarasota, FL is the metropolitan area of Tampa Bay & St. Petersburg, and in the small community of St. Pete Beach, it is the home to Season 3 of Floribama Shore.

On post-Christmas Night, Party Down South alum & Challenge finalist Mattie joined Gus and his castmates for Pride Week celebrations, but after a meltdown she had after arriving at the house she decided to tough it all out for the summer. But last week came the return of the single biggest split the Shore franchise has ever seen had since we saw the end of SamRon: a friendly game of dodgeball in a trampoline gym that kids and kids at heart love to play led to a dinner night that turned sour for Gus and Jeremiah. And that aside, Aimee left the house for a day to tend of legal matters relating to last year's arrest, and they prepped her for that by holding a mock session of court in their house.

Two characteristics that distinguish Floribama from MTV's many other global Shore iterations are that the cast is not afraid to show their emotions, and there's a much greater & deeper appreciation of the families who raised them, and those they call friends back home. That will be very much be the case here this week, as the fellas will head up to South Carolina to ultimately bring all the roommates together as they try to heal that broken bromance. The ladies, though, will fly to Mattie's hometown of Nashville, a city now with Super Bowl hopes again as we write this... but one of them will head to Music City to help make sense of, and get closure of, the most traumatic day of her life.

Welcome back to our 1100TH POST here at DCBLOG, and the year that is 2020 as far as MTV Reality is now well and truly underway... we'll explain that very reason here in due time. But as far as those seven lucky people who are now calling St. Pete Beach, Florida home this winter are concerned, summer in Floribama Shore is also now in full swing.

On the day after Christmas - Boxing Day fittingly in much of the world, the Shore housemates got to join with the rest of the Tampa Bay community to celebrate Pride Week and the LGBT community which made plenty of positive strides in 2019. But in addition to that, Gus got to introduce his group to one who he got to know quite well last year, as Party Down South alumnus Mattie met up with them months after she and him got to compete on The Challenge: War of the Worlds. And she helped to bring that sense of fun to the group just after all the drama of the summer's first month.

But at the end of her first night, Mattie had a breakdown in the house... and as we rejoin them here she will decide if this is just a weekend's visit or if she will take up an extended residency in SPB. Meantime, a sport that was thrust into the spotlight many years ago by way of Will Farrell's cult favorite movie takes center stage, and even a friendly game of that may respark the JeriGus fires of a few weeks ago. And Aimee is preparing to meet the judge to settle last year's scrap that got her on the front pages, and the roommates rally behind her as only they can.

Welcome on back to the final SocialPulse post of both this year of 2019 and this decade of the 2010's. And while you might be relieved or bummed that another year in the fifth major pro sport has wrapped up, we're sure those of you in Challenge Nation will be well occupied now until we begin the ramp-up to Season 35: Jemmye just took over the Ex On The Beach winter cabin in joining Marlon and Nicole there, and a competitor from War of the Worlds earlier this year, Gus, and his show Floribama Shore providing some company for us now until then.

In the past two weeks, Mr. Gus Gus has found himself at the heart of the biggest storm to strike this group - fittingly enough during hurricane season in Florida, as a once tight bromance he's had with Jeremiah has dissipated out into the Atlantic Ocean. This comes after an explosive fight with the two a couple weeks back along with him breaking up with his girl back home... and last week we found more coming out of perhaps how flawed #JeriGus was - think, what happened to Adam & Ryan of AYTO Season 1 or Laurel & Cara as examples of who friendships can fall apart.

At the end of Week 5, another twist and a page right out of the Jersey Shore playbook: Gus deciding to spend a moment with Jeremiah's girl, Kristen, at the bar... it's something MVP and Ronnie like to call a "robbery." And this week, the tale with her doesn't end - guess what happens when she tries to become one of the girls in the house. It's Pride Week in SPB - which means the LGBT community is out in full force, and the housemates will get to meet up with a girl Gus to know so well on that Challenge season ten months ago, and returns to a familiar spot on Thursdays.

These past seven days in MTV Reality have seen us say farewell to a decade of Challenges with Zach & Jenna getting engaged in front of the Rockefeller Christmas tree, Alex become the first in Siesta Key to become a dad, some fireworks on the Teen Mom reunion, and the British couple having their date interrupted on Ex On The Peak. But the week's most explosive drama went down not on the War of the Worlds 2 reunion, but down in Florida... and that's where we bring you the Pulse now of Floribama Shore, where one of those who we saw on WOTW 1 is one-half of this week's overarching talking point.

So far this winter, we've had a long-distance relationship go the way of the dinosaur, one roommate leave temporarily for tonsils surgery, a graduation party and a new way of puking inside the taxi... and obviously, there's the new digs and surroundings of our favorite southerners in St. Pete Beach outside Tampa Bay. But last week, things began to unravel for this always tight house: Gus returning to him being single and the always present presence of Nilsa making for some old feelings in the house. But it's when she brought a guy back home from a night out at the bar and the clubs that now have seen the first true test of what true relationships can be for any group of friends turned family.

When you look around the whole MTV Shore franchise, history may suggest that it's not officially a series in this global ecosystem without having a fight take place in the house itself. At the end of last week, two guys who became close in the first two summers and who then moved in afterwards out in Arizona went down a path that no one expected when they left Panama City Beach, but is something that two guys from an original MTV cast can relate to very much. And while the ladies and the other two guys not involved in the drama both watch and then look to separate themselves from the biggest fireworks to ever hit the house, it's safe to say this house and the dynamic of this group will never ever be the same again.

It's the best day of the week for those like you and I: Saturday -- and time for us here at DCBLOG to bring you the 'Pulse of the week in MTV Reality: $1 million to be handed out on The Challenge, two Challengers heading into a Sauna by the Peak, and first up: fireworks in the cold of December on Floribama Shore, involving one who competed on the fifth pro sport earlier this year.

Last week saw "puke and rally" get another definition - a club night of everyone having fun saw puke and rally take place in the cab instead of at the club. Kortni's sickness got so worse that doctors told her that her tonsils will have to be removed and her mom came by to pick her up, but not before the roommates got to help release her demons as only they can: the world-famous candles. But all attention, as it has to start this off, have been on Gus: him breaking up with Lisa meant that his single self has made his way to SPB and he wasted no time bringing girls to the chateau.

The Gussy boy now being single now brings into focus, once again, on him and Nilsa, and this week sees that take shape yet again in the house and on the streets of St. Pete... and that also sees an appearance by something you'd only see in warm weather places like Florida: a traveling pub around town. But it's when she brings a guy home from the bar that this soap opera gets into a little more twisted in him getting jealous... and it's when his "friend" tries to diffuse the situation, something that we've seen many times on Jersey Shore happens for the first time in Florida.

Hello there and welcome in... we hope you're having a nice weekend and that you're warm & cuddled up this early December. Things are winding down over on The Challenge: War of the Worlds 2, but winter in MTV Reality will be occupied by some fun in the snow on Ex On The Beach, but much of the focus is on the state of Florida where the kids of Siesta Key are back next month, while their new neighbors aren't that far from their town just up the road northwards in St. Pete Beach, which is where the Floribama Shore bunch are taking occupancy this season.

When we last in Florida two weeks ago (something called Thanksgiving had to do with that), the usual madness that this bunch brings to the table actually became a little bit too much for Kortni to handle and she went off on them as she continues to recover from a trip to the hospital. Last season saw Codi & Candace make some progress relationship wise, but it's when he gets friendzoned did that change. But all attention was on what's going on with Gus and the girl he left back home: Codi deciding to stir the pot got him caught redhanded, but with all the temptation that's around him the playboy decided he'd be best off being on his own, for now.

Him breaking on the phone with girlfriend Lisa means that, this week, Old Gussy's back in town as, once again, yours & our favorite book cover boy is taking advantage of being single once again and decides to, of course, waste no time getting the wild side of him make a return trip to the Shore... and that includes bringing over some girls to the beach house. As Kortni deals with perhaps taking a temporary leave of absence, the roommates try to figure out how to release her demons - by relying on something famous in their house. And there's also a new definition in "puke and rally" - and it doesn't take place in the club just after going to the restroom.

Welcome back... the third summer for the crew of Floribama Shore has been quite eventful just 1- and-a-half weeks into this new season, and when we left them (just an hour or so ago in our time), Kortni got back from her night's stay at the hospital and proceeded to go off on the group for their loud noise. Candace and Codi went on a lunch date after some tension in their first week back and she decided that they are best off being roommates than lovers. But something that has dominated the buzz this late autumn has been of Gus' girlfriend Lisa, and what happened in week 1 and in the first hour of this past week's double shot has been THE news.

As we rejoin them in SPB, things have gotten tense there in the beach house as Codi has gone off on Gus just after what we saw in the double premiere. Aimee came to Panama City Beach a single lady after her 10-year relationship ended badly, but as she comes to SPB she has a new boyfriend - but with how things are in living in a small secluded area in Alabama where she was front page news last time out, will she be in for more trouble when technology can't get hold of her man. And a crossroads comes for Gus as he tries to maintain his relationship with Lisa, while Jeremiah is making moves himself - both on the dance floor and in the girl department.

It may be Wednesday, but we've arrived at the weekend... and we get to say this on what is Hump Day for all of us, it means it's Thanksgiving weekend. But before you head off to where you're going to visit your family, we at DCBLOG are about to visit our favorite Southern family: the Floribama Shore bunch as we now bring you the Pulse of Week 2 of Season 3.

Previously, our fellow Floridians (with those from Alabama, Tennessee and South Carolina) took their show down south from Panama City Beach down to St. Pete Beach just outside of Tampa Bay, and while it took some time for them to settle in their new digs the drama and fun began right from the opening bell. There was a graduation party, new significant others for some of the cast, yet another argument over a small & simple item of picking new bedrooms, and an appearance by an ambulance to bring the crazy girl to the hospital. And of course, the group got to take advantage of their new surroundings by partying hard on their very first night.

This week - and in another double shot of two episodes, that girl who had to spend a night at the doctors returns and she finds that trying to have as much quiet time to herself as she recovers is hard as it seems, especially with who she lives with. After their flirtation last season and fighting with him last week, those two who dated up in PCB look to lunch to see if they can go to the next level or just settle with being roommates. And the elephant in the house becomes the hot topic of chatter in SPB as Gus' girlfriend takes over the discussion.

Welcome back... earlier tonight we brought you the Pulse of the first half of a two-hour opening act to Season 3 of Floribama Shore as yours & our favorite Southerners packed their bags and brought their talents downstate from the Panhandle to the Bay Area - the Tampa Bay area, that is. There, the roomies moved into their new house in St. Pete Beach with half of the house already taken up by significant others back home, and the anticipation for another epic summer of fun in the sun, drama after dark and everything in between. That includes, of course, plenty of partying and the house wasted no time getting down & dirty (and puking) on their first night in their new town.

As we rejoin the roomies here, whenever anyone moves into a new house it's always an important thing to check out all the rooms, pick where everything goes, and which bedrooms families, friends and roommates will sleep in. After spending their first two summers in the same house in Panama City Beach, our Floribama bunch is getting used to their new SPB digs -- and even picking where to sleep will get to a few of the roommates. Another of them is proud to have a diploma of graduating anger management class and, of course, that gives reason for the roomies to throw a party... but at night's end the mood may dampen a bit when sirens blare out outside their windows.

In most of the country, fall is in the air and winter is on its way... and the sight of seeing either those leaves or snow on the ground is just about everywhere. That is, unless you're in Southern California, Hawaii, or out in Florida where 300+ days of sunshine offer people everywhere a chance to escape the cold for some fun in the sun... and that's where those who have had a Thursday night date with MTV will have, at least for one hour, as Floribama Shore is back for Season 3.

Last we left our friends in Florida all the way back in February of this year, Aimee, Candace, Codi, Gus, Jeremiah, Kirk, Kortni and Nilsa were standing on the sands of Panama City Beach in the northern Panhandle reflecting on another epic summer. There, they got to live out another summer experiencing more of what they got to enjoy that first time out: late night pizza, bar brawls with locals, flirtations between the local girl & book model heartthrob, romances gone bad, and plenty of "chi-chis up" and "puke & rally." They even took their antics on the road west to New Orleans and down South of the border to Cabo, Mexico... not to mention the occasional tear-jerker.

As the journey begins again for the group (which will later bring Gus' fellow War of the Worlds Challenge rookie & Party Down South alum Mattie to town), this next chapter will take them in a new setting: a trip east along I-10, down I-75 and into St. Pete Beach. It's a new city, a new beach house and some new drama for the group -- half of whom are now boo'd up and, historically, anything long-distance in any MTV reality show may not make it to the end. But for a group who knows how to party, a wild and crazy first night out in St. Petersburg may change all of that, as summer begins for our favorite Southerners.

MTV Reality: Welcome Back to Floribama Shore - Season 3

It is November, which means for networks, channels and streaming platforms, this is one of those months where they are in full-arms mode trying to win your attention in what is known in their part of the business as "sweeps" rating period months... and yesterday saw a game-changer in the media landscape with the launch of the much-anticipated service, Disney+. And we are headed towards the end of an eventful 2019 in the MTV community... and if you haven't noticed by so much news involving its personalities with pregnancies, Dr. Phil appearances, a World Series flashdance and a proposal, then they are making plenty of headlines as we speed towards 2020.
   As for what we have rolling right now, The Challenge: War of the Worlds 2 rolls on as Teams USA and UK continue to fight it out in the second installment of an international trilogy, but things are heating up as we get closer to handing out $1 million, and the battle rages on tonight. Meanwhile, next month we'll be heading from the beach to going 'boarding as Ex On The Beach will head to the slopes for Peak of Love with an all-star global cast heading to the snow-capped mountains of New Zealand as their winter break will get a bit more steamy. And there will be plenty of other things of interest, too, as MTV parent Viacom prepares to get married again with CBS.

It was at this time in fall 2017 that the flames were rekindled - in America at least - of MTV's most iconic reality franchise when the Florida Panhandle in the southern United States joined places like Seaside Heights, the Northeast of England and Acapulco as places which have played host to drama, debauchery and a whole lot of fun with kids who love to have a good old time. In the spirit of the Jersey originals but forging their unique identity, Floribama Shore premiered two years ago this month and made an instant impact with a generation who grew up watching Snooki, the Sitch and co. but have brought a unique Southern charm to the madness that defines this franchise.
   The first two seasons of Floribama have seen so much go down with Aimee Hall, Candace Rice, Codi Butts, Gus Smyrnios, Jeremiah Buoni, Kirk Medas, Kortni Gilson and Nilsa Prowant in the one-time Spring Break hub of Panama City Beach. The crew moved into their digs and gave us new definitions in having fun, getting into the frequent bar fight among much drama, producing the always intriguing inter-cast romance among two of the roommates, and each of them getting to showing an emotional side of themselves that helped them win over viewers. And last season saw double the fun with a lurking ex-boyfriend, headline-making arrests, another pizza moment, and ventures to the party hub of the South in New Orleans and South of the border to Cabo, Mexico.

Now, the scene shifts from where the spent their first two summers in and got kicked out of bars many times there in PCB, to a new locale located a few hours down the Florida Turnpike. The Tampa Bay Area will be where the drama and hilarity will be this time around, and lying two bridges away from the Cigar City to its west across the Bay is St. Petersburg, which will serve as the cast's home base this time around. And there, they will have a bigger playground of one of Florida's four major metropolitan areas to step up their party game while also navigating love and friendships as only a Shore crew can.
   And to make things even more sweeter: something that hasn't happened yet on either American iteration of the Shore ecosystem will happen this winter: the Floribama house will have an additional, ninth roomie living under its roof. And as it was when Snooki brought along Deena when Angelina left Jersey Shore a decade ago, the person who will join the cast is someone who she's close with - all thanks to having competed with the man who brought his talents to The Challenge right as his second summer in PCB was coming to an end.
