It's a few days before it officially begins with its December solstice on Saturday, but winter has arrived in the world of MTV Reality. The Challenge: War of the Worlds 2 is now history, and now three shows take over the focus of MTV fans everywhere to delight us during the coldest time of year, two of which each have their third seasons take place within driving distance of each other in Central Florida: Floribama Shore in St. Pete Beach, and Siesta Key in nearby Sarasota as Bachelor Nation's Robby Hayes comes to town. And for a touch of winter, Ex On The Beach is taking its hot mess to the slopes and the Peak of Love - the first true global season of this MTV guilty pleasure, as those from America, Britain and Canada take up residency in a New Zealand chalet by the snow.

Ever since we began covering MTV Reality back some six years ago, a tradition we have has been to help answer a burning question viewers have whenever we start a new season of Ex On The Beach or The Challenge: "Who Are These Newbies?" We've always have had an answer to this question so you, this website's visitors, can get to know each non-MTV reality personality who comes onto the beach (or in this case, the snow), and every Challenge rookie and returning competitor, by making sure we give them the proper welcome, treatment and respect they rightfully deserve. And while it's hard to keep count, those we've profiled on here in these posts number in the three figures, and there will be much more to come once the next season of The Challenge comes our way in the new year.

Historically, any Ex On The Beach season often casts those ordinary people chosen in the usual fashion of a casting call like what we've seen those who started on Real World, AYTO or any other MTV show before going onto a Challenge later on. But inspired by the celeb-reality shows of years past, Ex USA began a trend of reality stars from in and outside the MTV landscape being featured on the beach, which has inspired celebrity versions for the next seasons of the British and Brazilian versions of this series this coming winter overseas - adding to the occasional reality vet in previous UK series such as Geordie Shore (their own Jersey Shore). And for this season's class of singles, the cast once again features something for everyone in the reality world - Robby's old show, RuPaul's Drag Race and beyond - who've joined those familiar to MTV fans in Nicole of The Challenge, Marlon of The Real World, Tyranny of AYTO, and a few others from in and outside this community for this winter's escape.

So once again, we at DCBLOG are here to answer that question, "Who Are These Newbies?" ... this time it's for Ex On The Beach: Peak of Love. And after the jump, we'll be meeting them - starting with the one single with the biggest social media following and continuing the progressive trend of the LGBT community being represented on reality dating television.

DC SocialPulse: The Challenge War of the Worlds 2 - The Final Part 2

Welcome back everyone... It was back in July, during the midst of the heat of an American summer that we began this journey of how two groups of Americans and Brits, plus four reinforcements (including those from Turkey and Australia) would handle the first two team season of The Challenge in a decade. Through a dominant regular season by Team USA, the constant struggles of the UK side and everything that's occurred since it debuted during VMA week and right into the early weeks of the holiday season in December (and the opposite of seasons down under), we've arrived at the last hurdle of War Of The Worlds 2, and both 2019 and this decade of Challenges.

On Friday night here we brought you a Backtracked installment of 'Pulse for Part 1, and one side were Challenge champs Ashley, Cara & Zach with Paulie, Kam, Leroy and Ninja; while the other side consisted of two-time titlists CT and Jordan, with Tori, Rogan & Dee joining them. As is always the case for any final examination, a combination of endurance, puzzles, numbers and strength rule the day in this 2-day final, and those who make it all the way to the end will win it all - and a share of $1,000,000 awaits them. Both teams struggled during the first stage of this final - 16 miles in the jungle of carrying a gurney in addition to the usual odds & ends.

But at the end of Part 1 of the Finale, it was a man who touted himself quite a bit during his run on this show, Paulie, who got exposed when he collapsed to the ground in struggling in the scorching heat and flirting with possibly letting his chance at the cash slip away. As we rejoin this here this week, he and the rest of the Americans try to get back up and catch up to a British team seemingly undaunted by having gained late-season momentum to make this a game and not a U.S. coronation. But more pitfalls await the teams: an uneasy overnight rest, one more Teej-bomb and more stages separate these players from the $1 million awaiting the winners in paradise.

Hello and welcome on into a Sunday Funday in our DCBLOG world... as this post goes to the printing press here, winter is settling into most of the country as we are now officially into the Twelve Day of Christmas. And you know winter arrives when the MTV attention shifts to Florida to join those snowbirds from up north, and this year when reality stars get snowed in for a winter version of Ex On The Beach.

Last week, the slopes at the Peak of Love opened for the first Ex On The Beach season anywhere on earth to not be held in a sun-baked locale when three MTV'ers - Nicole, Marlon and Tyranny - joined those from outside the MTV community in New Zealand. The purpose of the show remains the same in seeing if the singles' exes can be their next, all during the heart of Cuffing Season... and it didn't take long for the two British singles - Georgia and Callum - to be the first two people to hook up in the chalet. And it also didn't take long before Nicole's Challenger ex became the first ex to pop up in the snow shortly after the shock of that elimination loss that cost her a WOTW2 finals spot.

This week, the focus of the house shifts to the first elimination week of the winter, as the words change around a bit in the house in which an Ex will be ice'd out of the chalet. The place we've come to know from the summer shares get a name change this time around, as the Shack becomes the Sauna of Secrets, and those who will be headed there will find themselves in a heat-rising situation - most especially for one who's been doing some two timing here. And for the man who knows about living in a winter climate this time of year, our resident Canadian makes a somewhat awkward play to look for love when he's found no luck when it comes to roses.

It's the best day of the week for those like you and I: Saturday -- and time for us here at DCBLOG to bring you the 'Pulse of the week in MTV Reality: $1 million to be handed out on The Challenge, two Challengers heading into a Sauna by the Peak, and first up: fireworks in the cold of December on Floribama Shore, involving one who competed on the fifth pro sport earlier this year.

Last week saw "puke and rally" get another definition - a club night of everyone having fun saw puke and rally take place in the cab instead of at the club. Kortni's sickness got so worse that doctors told her that her tonsils will have to be removed and her mom came by to pick her up, but not before the roommates got to help release her demons as only they can: the world-famous candles. But all attention, as it has to start this off, have been on Gus: him breaking up with Lisa meant that his single self has made his way to SPB and he wasted no time bringing girls to the chateau.

The Gussy boy now being single now brings into focus, once again, on him and Nilsa, and this week sees that take shape yet again in the house and on the streets of St. Pete... and that also sees an appearance by something you'd only see in warm weather places like Florida: a traveling pub around town. But it's when she brings a guy home from the bar that this soap opera gets into a little more twisted in him getting jealous... and it's when his "friend" tries to diffuse the situation, something that we've seen many times on Jersey Shore happens for the first time in Florida.

It's Friday the 13th - the last one of this second decade of the 21st century and where those lucky to have clear skies got to experience a full moon in the early hours of Thursday. And as you all begin to hurry up on that important holiday shopping, there are a million reasons for a dozen people from America, Britain and down under in Australia to be excited... they are the competitors who have made it past the final hurdle and into the final of The Challenge: War of the Worlds 2.

When we last left Thailand, the regular season came to an end with semifinal week - our definition on here of the last daily challenge and the final elimination before the final itself. The guys had nothing to worry about as their spots were already clinched, but the ladies were on the clock and again having to head into the water to determine who would be safely into the final and which girls had to battle it out for the final ticket. CT played a role in the outcome of that last daily despite his spot being secure, and it led to Ashley and Nany having to battle it out in a super elimination in the daytime outside of the Proving Ground... and the millionaire aced the run and puzzle to get another chance at the cash.

Ash, Cara, Paulie, Zach, Leroy, Ninja and Kam comprise a strong American team who have dominated the regular season and look to validate that status with $1 million, while Tori, CT, Jordan, Rogan and Dee make up a British team who felt depleted for most of the season but gained the newly-engaged's after they were the only two players to be turncoats. And they are about to embark on another climatic two-day final where now, they are evenly matched. As always, endurance, math and puzzles will put the Yanks and the Brits to the test, and the nature of this final examination may expose one highly-touted player with a shocking and potentially game-changing gas-out.

DCBLOG Look Ahead: A December Friday the 13th Weekend

We hope you're enjoying your winter's week, and as the snow & the temps are falling wherever you are we hope both safe and warm. Both the year and decade in MTV Reality is now in its final twenty days (you'd probably pinch yourself reading this), and this week should be a dandy as we bring to a close The Challenge: War of the Worlds 2 while also turning things up a bit on Floribama Shore and Ex On The Beach: Peak of Love... our blog coverage of all of those comes your way on this Friday the 13th Weekend.

For this small update of sorts here this late night, as you loyal readers know our site maintains a never-ending commitment to excellence and quality here, and we want to make sure to put on the finest and most thorough blog content possible. And as it turns out, the mission of wanting to get out our most important post of this month is actually a much bigger task to us than we first thought when composing all the drafts for it.
   It's with that in mind that, despite our first inklings about it and the social media advertising that it would be up by now, our Who Are These Newbies? introduction to the singles of Peak of Love will now come after this week's Pulse posts - it is still in the middle draft stages with still much to write. We want to make sure to cover every single detail on Adore, Daniel, La Demi, Allie, Ryan, Georgia and Callum since, after all, the average MTV viewer doesn't know that much about them the same way they know those who watch just the reality shows airing on just that channel.
   It's always a tall task & a difficult post for yours truly to put together: lots of research, scouring the web for video, and writing a several paragraph's capsule on multiple cast members who are new to MTV fans - while also maintaining journalistic standards and exceptionally high levels this site has to getting it right, like any other news operation. We do this for every Challenge and now Ex On The Beach - and we've featured almost 150 people in this series, and when our post is complete, it'll be up then... we do need all the time we need here to perfect it.

As for what's to come during this week's blog wave, here's what's ahead...

● Tonight (as we talk to you on this Wednesday, Dec. 11th) marked the end of the two seasons in 2019 of The Challenge as War of the Worlds 2 came to a close with its $1 million final. As we noted last week, we know a lot of you don't subscribe to cable, satellite or even to a live streaming TV service, and with respect to them we won't spoil the finale on here right now. Our SocialPulse posts covering social media's reaction to the final act will be up this weekend, starting with Part 1 (a Backtracked edition) Friday at 6PM ET/3PM PT, and tonight's Part 2 will be up on Sunday. You all do have plenty of time now until then to get caught up.

● In between those two posts, the 'Pulse of Floribama Shore and Ex On The Beach will be up here for this week's episodes airing in less than 24 hours, as a Florida bromance may meet its end by perhaps the most explosive fight we've had in the Sunshine State, and the first Cut elimination of the winter goes down as another Ex arrives into the chalet. We hear there will be plenty of drama in both SPB and New Zealand.

● If there's time in between our two Challenge finale Pulse posts, ExtraTime will join one of this season's EOTB singles as she goes for love on a show that brought hilarity to the reality dating genre... if it's not posted on here this weekend, watch for it after our Newbies bit is posted early next week. And a story to keep an eye out for during this winter: the one Ex a lot of you are waiting to see invade the Peak also brings to focus a teenage pop star who, fifteen years ago, was on top of the pops... we'll be meeting her once Jemmye comes to New Zealand.


And it's not just here at DCBLOG that I'm getting to work hard to perfect my craft: on Thanksgiving night, I began posting short video blogs from my #DCVegas X trip earlier this fall. I spent some of my slot winnings from my Reno trip this summer to buy a gimbal and editing software, and I got to film four days of video in Las Vegas which, I hope, will be just as entertaining on the visual side as these DCBLOG posts are in the written form. The blog takes top priority, but I'll be back to editing the second wave of videos which'll be up during the pre-Christmas weekend next week.

Summer is the hottest time of the year and when the heat is on... nothing can beat the sun and the sand. But what happens when we are in the merriest time of all... when the feeling of Christmas and the holidays that fall during this time, then it's the most magical. That is, except if you're one of those ten singles who have been chosen for the newest season of the wildest romantic reality show of them all, Ex On The Beach. And winter is here... as we at DCBLOG now brings you our Pulse of the fourth season of the American version of this global phenomenon.

It wasn't the long ago that the "Ultimate Relations-XXX Show" was in Malibu for its third season of bringing together MTV Reality favorites with those from outside the channel for an summer of fun in the sun and a vacation from hell to go alongside with it. There was a love triangle involving the lady at the heart of MTV's next rebooted show in Aubrey O'Day being at the heart of it, while Devin and his puppeteer ways returned to where it began for him in a quest for love. We also had a boy band wannabe and a rapper's ex dealing with many of their old flings, a telenovela, and some twins too.

This time, the focus shifts from the sandy beaches of Southern California where it's summer all year long, to a resort town in the Southern Hemisphere, and a cooler climate than any of the other seasons worldwide of Ex On The Beach has ever been to: Queenstown, New Zealand. Once again, another set of ten reality stars will come to this winter wonderland for the winter-based spinoff of the EOTB franchise, but the premise remains the same: can they find their Next to hang out with for the annual rite of winter known as cuffing season. They have no idea that their Exes will be making the trek down the slopes to join them... and whoever are the first to crash the singles' winter break will no doubt cause trouble, while connections will be made & broken right there in the chalet.

Hello there and welcome in... we hope you're having a nice weekend and that you're warm & cuddled up this early December. Things are winding down over on The Challenge: War of the Worlds 2, but winter in MTV Reality will be occupied by some fun in the snow on Ex On The Beach, but much of the focus is on the state of Florida where the kids of Siesta Key are back next month, while their new neighbors aren't that far from their town just up the road northwards in St. Pete Beach, which is where the Floribama Shore bunch are taking occupancy this season.

When we last in Florida two weeks ago (something called Thanksgiving had to do with that), the usual madness that this bunch brings to the table actually became a little bit too much for Kortni to handle and she went off on them as she continues to recover from a trip to the hospital. Last season saw Codi & Candace make some progress relationship wise, but it's when he gets friendzoned did that change. But all attention was on what's going on with Gus and the girl he left back home: Codi deciding to stir the pot got him caught redhanded, but with all the temptation that's around him the playboy decided he'd be best off being on his own, for now.

Him breaking on the phone with girlfriend Lisa means that, this week, Old Gussy's back in town as, once again, yours & our favorite book cover boy is taking advantage of being single once again and decides to, of course, waste no time getting the wild side of him make a return trip to the Shore... and that includes bringing over some girls to the beach house. As Kortni deals with perhaps taking a temporary leave of absence, the roommates try to figure out how to release her demons - by relying on something famous in their house. And there's also a new definition in "puke and rally" - and it doesn't take place in the club just after going to the restroom.
