Hey there, welcome back to the 'Blog and to DC SocialPulse with last night's Real World Ex-Plosion and episode 2. Last week, the season began with us meeting our new class of seven pledges and all the usual pomp and circumstance of them meeting for the first time, moving into their new city of San Francisco and checking out what the City By The Bay has in store for them. And in the premiere and in a harbinger of what this dramatic season will have in store for us, we also saw some drama as well, with Ashley and her drunken alter ego, "Drunk Ashley", taking center stage a couple times. And, as you might expect, it ended with a couple roommates hooking up in the confessional with a bear suit on.
Today, we'll cover episode 2 from last night entitled "The Numbers Game," where we see one couple officially become boyfriend & girlfriend, while the other that hooked up at the end of the premiere suddenly get on the rocks. This coming by way of the season's second fight, just after they hooked up yet again in this week's episode. And as you saw by the title, there's also some talk of numbers as well, along with some sightseeing, more Ashley talk and sex talk too. And following my episode wrap, we'll introduce you to one of the biggest fans in the show's fan-amily (and it's not me by the way) and some good friends he got to meet from the MTV community earlier this week.

Now the wrap... At the start of this season, as we normally see in these recent Real World's, I figured that maybe there could be one or multiple couples cropping up among the seven strangers at the beginning of all this. Of course unlike the seasons before them, this could potentially get out of hand this time around when the exes move in a couple weeks from now.
One of them are the Texas roommates, and after some flirting in these first two episodes, Jamie and Tom officially became official. There was some concern for Jamie when she saw him talk to other girls after admitting to him being her only focus, and him acknowledging that he won't ignore those who hit on him. After seeing him going to sleep in her bed and then having their first kiss in the club, they became girlfriend and boyfriend when they shared their 2nd kiss at a restaurant. Considering that the RWPDX couple of Johnny & Averey went to Splitsville the day the Ex-Plosion trailer debuted among other Real World romances of late not turning out well after the show, the chances of Jamie & Tom continuing their love affair well after this season are very good right now.
As for the other couple in these first two episodes, Jenny and Cory went on a roller coaster this week. After that first hookup in the confessional and engaging in some intercourse with a bear suit on, they hooked up two times in this episode, first in the bedroom and then in the shower which brought along a giggle from me when I watched it last night, though the rest of the roommates weren't having it that their PDA was in the shower. This coming after the 1st one that only Jenny & Cory knew about, thanks to it being in the only room in the whole house that has a bit of privacy in it.
Towards the end, we saw the first street fight of the season, and this was a little reminiscent of what happened in Austin, Hollywood and the first SD season when locals like to video-bomb shots. And unlike the one that saw Johnny get into it with Jess & Nia that became viral before we saw it on MTV, this one involved Cory and a few locals as he, Jay, Arielle & her love interest left the club. And we saw Cory get into it with them who nudged into the strangers, shoves one out of the way, and after being irritated by them Arielle shoves him to the ground upon arriving back home and encourages him to stay inside. Jenny spots his anger towards the locals and is becoming concerned for Cory, but he would later apologize to her afterwards.
Something that also popped up for me was the numbers game that they played of, which as you saw in the fans view, a couple of my followers weren't feeling and feel it should be left in the past. Leaving the group a bit clueless, Tom confessed to having only slept with 3 girls prior to moving to the city, while Jay slept with that same number...by the time he was in 7th grade in middle school. And for the 3rd member of 3M, Cory's number is 100X that of his compatriots, while a Jamie declined to give her number until before making it official with Tom. We also saw a precursor to what will be happening shortly when, thanks to the technology of Internet VOIP, Tom skyped with his ex-girlfriend Hailey (who actually gave me a twitter follow before this season began) back in Dallas and Cory talked to his ex Lauren back in Michigan.
Aside from all that, there was also some talk among the group of Ashley's drunk behavior from the first few days. As the focus of this episode was more on the house couples, our latest favorite girl from West Virginia wasn't as prominently featured as much as last week, but there was the question of whether she hooked up or not with Cory in the cab. There was some talk about it in the house, but as we all know, the proof's in the pudding and there's those questions being asked of Cory by the producers. And she even apologized for her behavior to Jamie one-on-one after a group meeting, though things remain a bit sour. Ash even gave a shout out to the now-departed show Buckwild which at this time last year was the buzz of the TV world.
Another thing that's also of interest to me is how production seems to be more seen on camera than we've seen before. Usually there wouldn't be scenes of production impeding on production other than in special cases or during behind the scenes specials. We've seen it a few times in the past, recently in St. Thomas with producers telling Brandon to pack up after his positive drug test. But now, having heard producers ask the cast about how many girls Tom slept with, with what happened with Cory, and even seeing the bat phone that connects the cast with the crew in the control room in the premiere, we are seeing this restricted interaction between the cast and production more than in the past. Y'all might remember those forbidden relationships w/ a roommate & a member of production. And considering that I am also very interested in the behind-the-scenes side of TV (we'll cover some of that in upcoming posts on here soon), it's also allowing me to see more of the production is all about.
Next up promises to bring even more drama to the floor even before the cast knows of that twist from left field coming when Ashley thinks potentially about leaving the house early to go home back to her own home in the city, while Jay will receive some heartbreaking news from back home in the Bronx. And I did read from some of my twitter friends about the show doing away with the traditional "This is the true story..." opening sequence. But for this fella who also loves basketball as much as The Real World & The Challenge, I switched over from the end of the Warriors/Nuggets game to joining the show right at the first scene, just missing the intro. So, no comment from me on that for right now.
Finally, back to that fan. Since I joined Twitter on RW St. Thomas premiere night 18 months ago, I've become good twitter friends with those who I've never met in person but share a passion for The Real World and The Challenge. One of those fans is a fella from New York named Dave Olmann. We regularly talk to each other about these shows and a few others on MTV as well, as well as some sports on the side. And he's gotta be one of those who never misses not only every episode of the shows he likes watching, but also any web chat on internet radio or SpreeCast with cast members as well. He's called into most of buddy Andrew Kirk's radio shows to talk to RW & Challenge cast members, as well as other shows featuring cast members as well. He is as big a fanatic of this show as me.
And on Tuesday, everything came full circle for him when Dave joined up with Jay and fellow alumni for his Real World premiere party. There, he met up with a few of those we got to talk to on previous podcasts: CJ from RW Cancun & two-time Challenger (who also launched a new fitness line this week in addition to being on this month's cover of Runners World), Jay and Jenna, along with Rivals II champ CT, Diem and Aneesa. He also got to hang out with Brooke from RW Denver, Angelina from Jersey Shore, Chris S. from the upcoming Are You The One, Teen Mom's Farrah Abraham (who gave me a twitter follow the other day and is friends with Jay), Dylan John of Diddy's Da Band fame and cast members from the Bad Girls Club, VH1 and CMT's Sweet Home Alabama, among others.
