As your indulge in this late summer Saturday night, welcome back to DCBLOG and our weekend tradition of offering our view of the MTV Trifecta. Last night, we had the 'Pulse of Are You The One? as Gio & Kay became dunzo and Cam & Victoria blacked out in a different way than we're used to on AYTO. Meanwhile across the way in Mexico, Rivals III is now into game mode with two weeks left.

   Last week, Nate & Christina pulled off an all-time Challenge upset when they defeated contenders Cory & Ashley. Meanwhile, we saw many a guy falter in that week's mission above water, including Vince revisiting what we saw from him last season. And Wes & Nany excused the AYTO 2 pair as they seemed to have gained much-needed momentum towards a potential matchup with Bananas & Sarah in the final, and Ginger's 3rd shot at the 5-time champ. But as we know, nothing is guaranteed.

   This week, it's the last regular challenge in Mexico as we find more clarity as far as the game is concerned. But the focus is on America's sweetheart, as Jenna finds herself getting heartbroken by a veteran Challenger boyfriend who's been in a lot of drama the past several years. Plus, there's echoes of what happened the last time a Draw took place on a Challenge, and it's the result of what happens there that sets up a true battle of the bloodlines between two cousins with spots in Argentina at stake.
   Ahead, all the action, reaction and interaction from this most interesting episode and both the lead-up to and aftermath of it. Included: the Big D World Tour heads overseas to Europe, and a Challenge stung many times announces his return to Instagram. And after the diary on ExtraTime - or make that, Extra Innings, we'll join a Challenge fan favorite sorely missed the past few years as he battles the best in combining his favorite sport with his newfound passion.

TREY'S AN ALL-STAR

As we talk to you this fourth weekend of July, San Diego has become the place to be for those who are into pop culture and pop flies. This weekend, Surf City is playing host once again to San Diego Comic-Con International, by far the year's largest entertainment and comic book festival and one of the singular events in pop culture every summer. Comic-Con began on Wednesday at the San Diego Convention Center with a preview night and officially opened on Thursday.
   The event is expected to draw in over 130,000 people to this Olympics of everything pop and comics in the southernmost metropolis on the west coast, which on day 1 saw the big news being revealed that MTV mega-hit Teen Wolf will have its sixth and final season this fall, as well as the channel hosting its FANDOM Awards - which airs tomorrow night. And of course, the timing of this event taking place couldn't be more appropriate as you can't go anywhere inside the Convention Center or anywhere in San Diego (or the whole U.S. as a matter of fact) without seeing someone play Pokemon Go as the mobile video game has taken the world by storm.

   This comes on the heels of the city hosting another of summer's signature events, as just over a week ago the 2016 Major League Baseball All-Star Game took place at PETCO Park, just a stone's throw away from Comic-Con. Once again, the Game determined helped home field advantage in the World Series as, in a low-scoring game, the American League defeated the National League 4-2 and the Royals' Eric Hosmer took home MVP honors, while the Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton won the Home Run Derby. Though viewers' preference for baseball's annual mid-summer break tends to now favor Monday's undercard event than Tuesday's main event, it didn't diminish the appeal of this week to hardcore fans of the national pastime, which includes one member of the Trifecta.

   Back in May here, we revisited an ExtraTime piece from Exes 2 when Real World St. Thomas roommate and 2-time Challenger Trey Weatherholtz gave advice to future RW roommates about what they should expect from their experience living in the house, just as he did in the Virgin Islands. Those who are filming right now in Seattle must've read the note he posted on Facebook about what editing might do to their image and how to handle the love & hate they'll eventually encounter once the countdown to getting this Trifecta cycle underway all over again starts up in the fall.
   Taking that 5-hour flight from Baltimore, Trey joined the legions of many other baseball fans in Surf City to take in the All-Star activities. But his attention was focused more on the two days on the entire U.S. sports calendar when there's no action in the four major sports leagues scheduled than the All-Star events itself. On the Wednesday & Thursday of the All-Star break, this avid video-gamer took part in MLB The Show: Fans vs. Devs, an event based around the top-rated baseball video game and aired live on the video game app Twitch. This more than fed the appetite of baseball fans as they sat through what's normally the dullest 50+ hours of the whole sports year.
   Trey represented the Fans side of the matchup: he and three other fans were selected from many others who play MLB The Show every day and have a love for the national pastime. They went up to batt against a team representing the developers of this video game which is the equivalent of Madden NFL to those who follow the summer sport. Unfortunately, his opponent from the Devs, came away the winner when he hit the walk-off home run as Trey finished 3rd on day 1, and 5th overall once the two-day competition ended the next day with championship games for the top places and home-run derbies for the consolation prizes, with his team, the Fans, taking the crown and the spoils.
   Whether's it's watching both of those Challenges or now making a name for himself in the gamer world while awaiting that call to return, no doubt Trey is eager for a chance to prove himself once again. Of course, as someone who's been supporting him since the very day we made our debuts - him on TV and me on Twitter that summer 2012 day, I'm one of those who misses those Trey Day's and will be anxious for his presence if he's on the next Challenge. If he isn't chosen, at least he still has something to fall back on in something a lot of you get to enjoy being in front of a TV playing video games. He's found a niche and could be someone we could see on the E-League very soon, in addition to maybe a Challenge if MTV has its way. Let's hope for Trey Day X2 in 2017.
