Last week, the fifth major pro sport kicked off its thirtieth season and offered those in need for some exciting action in this unprecedented time with a first act that delighted everyone from hardcore fans and reality viewers to Giannis Antetokounmpo and sports fans with finally something to tune in for. A war-themed opening challenge saw Team UK begin right where they left off from War of the Worlds 2, while once again the law of the land saw two rookies face off in the first visit to the purgatory. But in between, inside a spooky wartime bunker an unlikely alliance popped up in longtime vendetttas Johnny Bananas and Wes deciding to align for the very first time after a decade of bad blood.
At night's end, TJ Lavin marked his 25th season as host by jolting the players with an old-fashioned Teej-bomb: only those who compete in elimination will be eligible to compete in the final... that will cause a ripple effect on everyone as this week, the women are up for the cut for the first time. Before all that, the week's challenge is a combination of getting a real feel of what it's like to be in a final with teams in trios carrying ammunition crates through the jungle, followed by target practice dropping them below while being aboard a chopper. And the most complicated relationship of last year comes into focus again as a defending champion falls for a rookie in her first go here.

Jenn having the last word, as she had to bow to an early female frontrunner in Jenny after being leading lady in week 1 and getting dared to go in for the first purgatory she takes care of that hapless Amazing Race alum in the first elimination and it's as if order has been restored a bit after what we saw last time out. Dee was contemplating perhaps wanting to go in thanks to another Teej-bomb, and after Jenn made an attempt to follow what Kam did just two years ago. And Dee was part of that power team with Cory & Swaggy who did that gnarly trip in the chopper for that target practice.

SPRING BREAK F-UPS...
We are talking about Angela Babicz who was on the first EOTB season (and who of course met Nelson of this Challenge on Season 2) and Jozea Flores who was on The Challenge spinoff Champs vs. Stars... both of which came in between regular Challenge seasons and after Vendettas. Last year, they joined Bananas, Nany, Justina Valentine, Mattie's new Floribama Shore roomie Nilsa and Brandon/"BG" of Siesta Key for the revival of MTV's classic March tradition of Spring Break.
It's one thing just to have cameras follow these people as an isolated part of the house whenever they get to film them for an MTV show... but it is a totally different story whenever they give you the mic to do what TV whiz's call "live hits" and follow a script for a small intro to a segment as is always the case for Spring Break. Below, Angela and Jozea will find this transition from reality star to temporary host a little bit rocky, and funny too.
