The state of Florida has been a popular place within those in the community of those who do an MTV Reality show ever since it first went down here to film a series a quarter-century ago when Season 5 of The Real World documented that year's class having difficulty putting together a startup and saw a threesome in the shower we never saw behind those blinds. And along with seeing the first appearance of a seven-time Challenge champ, Florida and MTV Reality have become prominent the past few years.
The reason for this has been not just where the Jersey Shore originals made their grand return for their vacation, but also for the emergence of the younger siblings of two of MTV's legacy series at the start of the last decade who both call this state home. One of them knows what it's like to have a whole lot of fun like their neighbors to the north... the other are those cool kids who are rich and who have drama follow them all over town. And last winter, they warmed our winters in one moving to within an hour's drive of the other when we last heard from them when things were just normal.
Of course, we are talking about Floribama Shore and Siesta Key... and as we await Season 4 of both of those shows in the new year, there is some news surrounding something that has never happened in Jersey's southern cousins, among other things in a Look Ahead to a return to the Sunshine State.
FLORIBAMA SHORE
A NEW SEASON & A NEW BABY...
First, the crazies: for the past three winters, we have had the opportunity in this coldest of the four seasons getting to dream of being down in the Sunshine State partying it up as hard as the Floribama Shore bunch. There have been plenty of memorable moments too many to bring up involving Nilsa, Gus, Aimee, Codi, Candace, Jeremiah, Kortni, Kirk and Mattie from three incredible seasons in Panama City Beach and then just last winter in St. Pete Beach in the Tampa Bay Area.
On Election Day, the castmates seemingly disappeared from social media for whatever reason we were not sure, but as it turns out for something other than fearing what would happen in the outside world. It's for the fact that, during the course of the past month, they have been filming Season 4 of Floribama not in the state of Florida, but in a totally new location due to the pandemic. According to media reports, Lake Havasu, Arizona was chosen as the host region for production, similar to JS Family Vacation taking place in a bubble of an entire hotel for this season.
A lot has been made within the entire production industry of the enormous steps being made to ensure everyone's absolute safety during the COVID emergency, including the reports that emerged yesterday of Tom Cruise going off on production for not obeying those guidelines as he films the new Mission Impossible movie. But Floribama is not immune from this: industry publication Deadline was the first to report that Season 4 production was put temporarily put on hold due to a crew member testing positive while working on the series, causing the cast to quarantine during that time.
That aside, we should expect plenty of fun when we get to reconvene all of the fun once again, and three-fourth's of the Floribama fellas posted the following pictures on Instagram once filming wrapped.
And then, there's what went down last weekend: something that the Jersey originals are now getting used to is the life of being a parent. And after Snooki, J-Woww, Deena and Ronnie have become parents, next spring it'll be the turn of Mike the Situation & wife Lauren to go through that next evolution.
Throughout this Floribama series, we have seen Nilsa flirt many times with Gus, relive what went on in her past, deal with visits from Jeremiah's brother Josh and getting to say "Chi-Chis Up" with Aimee many times before going out to the club. And of course you can't help but think of the many times she has had that Jesus candle in her hands, or having that slice of that pizza in the wee hours, among many wild things we're seen from her in these three seasons.
Nilsa will now have the honor of being the first Floribama Shore-mate to add the title "parent" to her resume when, last Friday, she posted on Instagram the following with a caption, "Even in the darkest of times the Lord still shines his light. Our greatest adventure is about to begin..🤍" The person holding her tummy is her boyfriend who's also named Gus, but is not that Gus, as they now prepare for an adventure that will culminate in May when she welcomes her first baby during the time of year when we celebrate the most important woman in our lives.
And at the end of the weekend, they posted their gender reveal with just themselves to witness the huge moment when they find out if it is a boy or a girl. When posting that moment on IG, Nilsa gave a nod to her late father who passed away back in late August, all as she saw blue confetti fly to signify that a young boy is coming her way: "Our faces say it all! I can’t help but to think my dad had a hand in this 💙 our baby boy has been a saving grace for me. When I was at my lowest point I found out I was expecting. It was a reminder that my dad is still with me and does not want my life to stop, but that with this baby, it’s just beginning for Gus and I. I know my dad is looking down on me with the biggest smile. 💙"
As always, when Nilsa revealed that she was expecting the reaction was immediate and all over the MTV Reality family... and the ones who've become her second family and now are about to become aunts & uncles to the little kiddo led the congratulatory messages on her Instagram, led by... who else?

SIESTA KEY
SEASON 4 IS UNDERWAY...
And then there's the cool kids: Season 1 of Floribama was placed smack dab in between the first & second halves of Season 1 of Siesta Key when it aired in the ever-coveted spot of launching out of Teen Mom, and it has been quite a ride for Juliette and co. in that beachside community in Sarasota. We've been witness to her bad romances with a king and a bachelor, going from being on opposite sides of the ledger to being roommates with Kelsey, the model's on-and-off relationship with gym rat Garrett, the love lives of Madisson & Brandon including her & a former producer and him now being a dad, and Chloe staying in the know of what's going on with these people... plus bad girl Amanda, too.
Though it's not officially the case yet for their neighbors, Season 4 of Siesta was given a go not long ago and filming is now underway down in Florida. We'll once again be following the journey of the whole cast - which also includes all of their significant others, friends and the like but likely won't include new mom Alyssa after what happened last summer with her man. Nonetheless, we should be in for a lot of juicy stuff come the new year, and that includes all of those parties (albeit with caution in everyone being regularly tested while filming) and in this case, celebrating the engagement of Maddy & Ish... and we still can't forget the gossip queen's reaction in finding out about that bombshell.
