The first two weeks has been dominated by one thing: the premise that those who have done this game before being in control, and the rookies having to go by that rule of the land - just as it always is in Challenge Nation. And last week, the challengers went for a ride aboard a helicopter for a heist that saw not only action in the air, but also on the ground when Lauren's withdrawal prior to it saw Amber B. come in to replace her months after winning Double Agents. Even with that, the rookie crew couldn't manage to crack that vets' stronghold in Croatia, just as a love triangle dominated the house buzz involving Nelson, Ashley and Berna.
And at that second elimination, another replacement - Ed - teamed with an Emy who was spent at the daily to excuse Tracy & Kelz in the Lair... and whenever you win in that arena, you'd usually gain a bit of momentum in this game. Well, this week he and partner Tori will try to take the season's first mission to involve anything related to the water, and the task of having to dive in that H2O may be as harder as it seems. And something that's also hard to overlook, the fact that the vets have the upper hand, and the truce that's kept things in tact may be challenged when a desire for revenge gets to one of the agents, while another may find themselves in the hotseat over which side they favor in the house.

- @TheAllanAguirre: Badass moment. Jisela comes back after 15+ years and kills one of the hardest swimming challenges ever. Jisela was one of only two women to recover a puzzle piece and she was the only one to retrieve 2. While all-time Challenge greats were crumbling, she was thriving.
- @TheAllanAguirre: While Abram is known for being a bit of an explosive crazy person, he was always at his best at the skill parts of the challenge. Guy was great with puzzles, climbing, and especially swimming. From the underwater challenge on Bloodlines to beating Kenny in an Island face-off.

So, Tacha making her voice heard - and certainly being backed up by all 1.1 million of her Twitter titans - after a week where the one who put her in, Tori, found herself in the spotlight for her choice as part of the power duo with Ed, but who is becoming increasingly unlikable compared to her partner... hence, Tori purging her Twitter presence to protect her mental health. What we also saw this week with players getting banged up in the water and then in the elimination, we see that this is certainly not for the faint hearted, but then again this game is still in the vets' possession... and that will only change if Corey L. & Michele become the Agency.
And though it's devastating that Tommy has to leave with that concussion upon impact with the water in that challenge, this week hasn't been bad at all for the Survivor champ. As so much focus has been on students returning to school amidst a spike in COVID cases in the past month due to the Delta variant, after Wednesday's episode the teacher announced on Instagram (private) the reason that he's retiring from reality TV: he has been appointed the new assistant principal at Cherokee Street Elementary School in the Long Island hamlet of Ronkonkoma. Our congrats go out to him... and no word on whether those in the faculty got to mention about that moment in this week's episode.
Finally before signing out, a personal note to share with you: it's rare on here that I make mention of things outside of the passions I follow which I cover on this site. But as I've been doing this blog work at home, this past week I have also been dealing with a loss in my broader inner circle. It's one of the reasons why scheduled content has not been posted on here as planned, and you can certainly understand by something that's affected me during this time right now.
When going to MHS and Thomas Russell Middle School across the street for six years (and yes, I'm in my late 30's if you're wondering), I got to go to a class or two and hung out a few times with Eddie Eyo. Though our interactions were limited compared to people my age back then, I share the same sentiment of everyone else in our class of just how great a person he is: family man, husband, athletic, and an all-around good guy. He played all four years on the high school football team, and who had just begun to raise a family of four children alongside his wife Summer. But a week ago today, Eddie was the victim of a fatal car accident that cruelly and prematurely took his life two months prior to his 38th birthday.
It has been a tough week for his family, and for those of us in the MHS Trojan family who had a rapport or a long friendship with Eddie -- and my thoughts are with all of them in this unexpected time. And we in the Class of '01 will all be certainly feeling his absence when we get together next month for our class reunion... it will be an emotional time for all of us, for sure. You can help to donate to an appeal on GoFundMe that was set up in Eddie's family in his name, and where over $20,000 has been raised by my friends there since it began a week ago tomorrow. Rest easy Eyo... you will be missed.
