A Word from the Editor
BY DC CUEVA
We hope you are enjoying this last month of summer so far, and if you are stressed out about having to go back to work or to school tomorrow amidst the crazy world we're in, just be okay.... you'll be alright. It also applies to those who don't want to worry about the next wave of the pandemic coming, the events that are ripping apart the world elsewhere or, if you live out here in California, the upcoming gubernatorial recall. After all, you've come for a moment at least to "The Escape You Deserve."
For me, I got to spend the past few weeks up until last week getting to enjoy the only thing I get to binge watch: the Tokyo Olympics. And as I write here on this Sunday evening, my family and I just got to do one thing we've not been able to do since Christmas last year and the holidays the year before that: get together for a family party with my relatives to celebrate my aunt's 80th birthday on both Friday and yesterday. And need not worry -- we've all gotten what I like to call our "flu" shots, so no need to panic about that, although she did have a health scare just recently in spending a week in hospital not related to the pandemic, but she is fine and okay and we are all thankful for that.
It's with all of this in mind that, because of this busy past month I've had watching the Games and having this quality time with family, the DCBLOG content we've been planning to do on here to cover what has gone on since been away from the MTV Reality world and the first act of Season 37 of The Challenge will be offered to you a little bit later than first planned. I know it is of a big inconvenience to those of you who visit this website, but this is also worth taking this opportunity to explain it here.
After twenty straight days of watching my favorite sporting event, it does take a bit of time for me to get back into the groove of doing these posts... and that has also been the case with putting together what is always a difficult post for me to do at the beginning of every season -- especially when you have to go around the web and do your best to introduce new Challengers those of us have never heard of before. It's with this in mind that Part 3 of "Who Are These Newbies?" Spies, Lies and Allies will be up tomorrow as we profile Bettina, Emanuel, Emy, Esther, Logan and Tacha.
Then, before getting to cover what will now be last week's premiere of Challenge 37, I still have yet to watch the last two episodes of the summer half of Season 4 of Siesta Key... that will be covered on here next once I get the chance to watch them sometime before this week's Challenge episode either Monday or Tuesday -- and that will also live watched on my #DCNOW hub at @DC408DxNow. All the Twitter content from the episode has been archived and will be posted along with the Things to Know on our Siesta WRAP on here as part of this coming week's blog wave.
That, unfortunately, will push back the SocialPulse of the premiere of The Challenge: Spies, Lies and Allies, to NEXT WEEK as we combine that with Episode 2 as part of a very special opening week doubleheader of episode social posts on here to start this site's weekly Challenge coverage -- and it marks a return to offering the interaction in its traditional timeline-style format. As soon as I wrap up my Newbies article above, I will be starting to compile all the Twitter buzz from the premiere, and that will be offered on here then.
And if you think that's enough... there's more to all this: the strategy we employ here to get new readers into our site is... come for the episode coverage, stay for the stories. As far as the ladder is concerned, the ExtraTime series gives us that platform to offer insightful storytelling, and though its timeslot has been changed the first story we've chosen to do here has not (unless something crazy changes that). That would be of a member of the most recent season of Are You The One? being on the cast of Netflix's Sexy Beasts... that comes after this week's episode coverage wraps up.
Even now, there's this to contend with: tonight marked the finale episode of Andres Rodriguez's latest venture in the world of made-for-YouTube reality entertainment, Season 11 of The Caucus Challenge, entitled Novice Era. Because of my Olympic assignment, I haven't had the chance yet to watch the season after its second episode... but that won't stop me from getting to write my review of the first full-scale Caucus Challenge since the pandemic's outbreak. And that will come before starting next week's episode coverage once all of this work is all wrapped up.
Finally, there's what is on the horizon: what's become a tradition on here has been to take a Look Ahead at what's to come later on as far as MTV shows are concerned. And as we speak to you, Season 2 of The Challenge: All Stars on Paramount+ is being filmed, just at the same time that the fifth season of Ex On The Beach USA is taking place. Both are taking place out of country, and both will feature familiar faces to all of us who cover this world... and we also plan to do that later this month.
So, that is all that we have in store on here on DCBLOG as we now get into the groove of once again going in on what's going on. It is a big task by this site to put all of these posts all together, all with the premise that's not changed at all of putting together the highest-quality content that this site offers, while also balancing that with life's priorities for yours truly outside this digital world. For now, stay safe, stay patient, and we'll have all that and more coming up Inside MTV Reality. See you then...
