Three years ago, MTV's reality scope expanded considerably with not just the return of Jersey Shore, but also the introduction to the American marketplace of its global dating franchise Ex On The Beach. What we now have with Paramount+ had its seeds planted also in 2018 when The Challenge welcomed those from the global versions of those franchises and Big Brother, proceeding the eventual re-merger of Viacom and CBS. And also in the summer of that year, there was something else...
In Europe, MTV and the people behind The Challenge and Real World, Bunim-Murray Productions, got to reconnect with one of the biggest teen idols of our generation, Lindsay Lohan, as she reemerged into the public spotlight in a different light than what we're used to: an entrepreneur living overseas. There, the Mean Girls star went about expanding her business empire to becoming the owner of her own beach club located in Greece as she went about her first summer in charge. Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club became a soap opera in itself - both on the show and off-camera, from MTV'er Kailah Casillas going against the redhead to all the drama among the other VIP's chosen by LiLo.
We didn't get to return to the Beach Club after that lone season, but for its second year of operations Lindsay's summer club moved its home base from the beach to Athens in 2019 near her other main operation of her self-named nightclub in the Olympic city, which operates the rest of the year out of summer. Both operations were closed last year for obvious reasons, but the Lohan Beach House in Mykonos is back in business again as Greece and much of Europe reopens after the pandemic shutdown as cases drop despite the emergence of a new variant, and tourism spikes among travel-hungry travelers following the long year in lockdown.
It's with this in mind that, earlier this month, one of those who were chosen to work at the Lohan Beach Club in Greece reemerged a bit as part of the latest music video from two of the biggest heavyweights in hip-hop right now, and a video that's fueled some discussion about the latest controversy that's divided viewers: the act of colorism a year after the summer of upheaval led by Black Lives Matter.
It was at this time last year that those in the TV industry and fans like us were anticipating MTV's answer to Vanderpump Rules, starring a much bigger name celebrity wise than Lisa Vanderpump. Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club brought VIP's from America together with the Mean Girl herself as she aimed to add a successful European summertime beach hangout in Greece to her resume some fifteen years after the one movie role which has defined the career of this one-time child star.
The club itself was a success that summer of 2018 when it was filmed there, but it was afterwards that Lindsay, right-hand man Panos Spentzos and her team decided to redirect their attention from Mykonos... and the skepticism that the season's most-notable VIP, Challenge and Real World star Kailah Casillas, had towards LiLo was enough for MTV to make their show a one-and-done deal... only adding another chapter to her always fascinating life that was tailor made for the tabloids.
A notable figure from that summer at the Beach Club was West Hollywood bartender Mike Mulderrig, who was described as "the life of the party" who grew up in a Jersey Italian family and who had just come out prior to flying to Europe. In working at the same Abbey bar in WeHo where his fellow Beach Club VIP Alex Moffitt and three of those from the bar's own reality show who then went onto Ex On The Beach (Murray & Cory on Season 2, Billy Reilich on Season 3), he proved to be a valuable asset to Lindsay's team long... right until before summer in paradise ended.
When two cast members of Jersey Shore's British cousins Geordie Shore -- 13-season veteran Sophie Kasaei and out & proud Nathan Henry -- came to Mykonos in the next to last week in town, as it was all season the VIP's had to be on their best behavior along with offering both the UK clientele and guests the top-class service any beach club aspires to have. Sure, Mike and the other VIP's did just that in the ladder, but it was when Mike decided to take off his pants and bare it all naked on a beach that also included families & children there, it all changed for him. The next thing he knew, he was on his way out as one of those who were fired from the Club, and was on the next plane ride back home.
Well before he went to Greece and after the shine of that club & the TV show has faded away, Mike has found YouTube to be a regular avenue to entertain his followers -- something that wasn't mentioned much on TV but has allowed him to perhaps become the show's most successful castmate, other than Kailah of course. The nearly 200 video goodies he's posted there have been viewed over 7.2 million times by his now over 100,000 subscribers.
His channel's synopsis reads, "The self proclaimed big brother of the internet, hoping to help teach and inspire his viewers through unrivaled honesty and relatable content. Mike hopes to give a voice to those who feel silenced, and speaks on hard topics such as growing up as part of the LGBTQ+ Community. MikeMGTV is a safe space on the internet for anyone looking to engage, laugh, and receive unrivaled advice that may not be available otherwise."
The videos Mike has posted there range from him recapping the Beach Club episodes as he sees it, to laugh out loud content that's certainly NSFW... and the time where he flew from the west coast on a day off back home out east to surprise his dog on his birthday. But several times, he's also put on that serious face and shared his own life backstory, including the day he came out to his parents, how he's dealt with the mistakes he's committed, and the stereotypes he deals with as a bisexual man.
For a recent video Mike posted there that was of our interest, it brings up an important milestone in television history: fifty years ago last month, a landmark program that was spawned by the act of Congress that created American public television, Sesame Street, debuted on PBS. The series' combination of live action, sketch comedy, animation and those who are part of the greatest group of puppetry to every generation who have grown up with it, the Muppets, have seen Sesame Street become the benchmark for children's television and integrating an educational element to it that continues to entertain kids today, adding a second broadcast home a few years ago in where another Jim Henson production, '80s show Fraggle Rock, once roamed at HBO.
Along with his YouTube star status, Mike hosts a podcast on the side, and on a recent episode his mom was a guest of his where Mama Mulderrig shared a story about her son loving cookies so much when grew up, that he even stuck some of them in his clothes. Below, Mike shares his story about him becoming his family's own Cookie Monster, and even becoming one himself on YouTube... we caution you before checking out that this is not exactly kid-friendly.

Winter is now over, as far as those who measure the seasons of ecology have it... although the snow that fell in the Midwest this weekend might say otherwise. And as far as those who are working at Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club is concerned, they are heading towards the end of an eventful summer working for the queen of the Mean Girls in Mykonos, Greece, as she and business partner Panos went about making her new resort on the Mediterranean the place to be in one of Europe's premier summer destinations.
During this summer, the dozen VIP hosts -- Alex, Aristotle, Billy, Brent, Gabi, Jonitta, Jules, Kyle, May, Mike, Sara, and Challenge & Real World vet Kailah -- have all found themselves having to mix being in paradise with having the toughest work assignment ever. Some of them flew in as latecomers to the party, others were sent home for not giving 110% to their work, relationships were formed, and plenty of drama in between. And they've met familiar faces in AYTO host Terrence J. and Lindsay's ex Nico Tortorella, have dealt with questionable behavior from the resident Vegas party expert, and create the summer's most iconic & viral dance move in #DoTheLilo.
Last time out, the hosts welcomed Sophie and Nathan of Geordie Shore - the show that gave America new Challenge star Kyle, but what Mike did in pulling off his pants in public that found him in hot water with the bosses... and this week he will learn his fate. It will also be the case for the rest of the house as they will also learn by the end of their last few days in Greece of which VIP's will stay with her & Panos for a second summer overseas. But no summer in any MTV Reality show can end without one last piece of big drama, and in this case an attempt for one to make piece with the other hosts leads to fireworks with one of the VIP's.

Hey there... the weekend is coming to an end, and so is the summer for the VIP's who are calling Mykonos, Greece home at Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club. Their stay in LiLo's eclectic setting of an escape from reality has seen so much go down, but the sun will soon set on their amazing and often times stressful experience, as the season finale and one last wave is ahead of them. First things first though: the 'Pulse of Episode 11 from the Club.
Week 10 saw the group whisked off to sea for a day's excursion at sea on a fabulous yacht on the Greek sea... but the drama that has affected the group all season long didn't exactly stay at the villa where the house's stance of being against Brent once again put a damper on things. And the Vegas club promoter himself also had to endure having to see the one who he get away, Sara, find herself in the arms of one Billy as she began to explore romantic possibilities with the gentle giant.
Those of us who've been watching the global expansion of The Challenge, and those who are into MTV's most visible franchise, know about Geordie Shore, where Kyle has become a key figure the past year and where fellow Newcastle native Zahida had a hand in knocking off Johnny Bananas on War of the Worlds. This week sees two of those they lived with on several series of Jersey Shore's British equivalent, Sophie Kasaei and Nathan Henry, be the latest big names to drop by, and the hosts will pull out all the stops to please our friends from Tyneside. But when one of the VIP's decides to take their dedication to another level, they'll have to face some unexpected consequences, as does another in his quest to score Sara's heart.

Hey there... Happy St. Patrick's Day to all of you out there. And we have a doubleheader of the DCBLOG SocialPulse of MTV Reality to share with you to mark the luckiest holiday we'll have all year, starting here with our tenth week at Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club.
Last time out in Mykonos, Lindsay's ex-fiance and co-host of How Far is Tattoo Far, Nico Tortorella, took a break from assisting Snooki and the ink crew to fly out to Europe to spend some quality time with the boss lady. And while he was the latest big name to roam through the club, Nico was recruited by Lindsay to hopefully alleviate the discord among the VIP's that has existed over the summer, including a sitdown below a full moon. But the hosts used that campfire to take the chance to air out their dirty laundry, including taking shots at Brent.
No doubt, the man who, as we speak right now is working the pools for a packed Vegas weekend for not just St. Paddy's Day but also Spring Break and college basketball in town, has been the root of all the problems in the VIP villa. And this week, Lindsay will take the house for a day's excursion out to sea in a luxurious yacht, but there are some unintended consequences that goes with the latest try to bring the house together despite Kailah's exit. Meanwhile, there's another twist to the house romance when Sara begins to explore other romantic options among the other guys.

Hey there, hope you're getting through this first day of spring as measured by daylight savings time. This MTV Reality week, we have a grueling mini-final Challenge, as well as another familiar face popping up on Ex On The Beach. But we begin with a new reality at Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club.
When we were last in Greece, we had the most eventful week yet: a surprise show-up at the VIP villa by her and Panos saw Lindsay in a bit of disgust for how her pupils have been handling their summer off the resort property. With that in mind, she decided to say that's all to Kailah as our Challenge friend was the second VIP to get the boot. But on a brighter note, the Club hosted Pride Day for the LGBT crowd, which saw Mike and Gabi take to the dance floor as did the boss lady... thus, the #DoTheLilo dance move was unleashed to everyone around the planet.
Last year, America was introduced to an MTV-originated global phenomenon that, around his busy reality slate, Bear made room for when he hosted Series 1 of Just Tattoo of Us, which was made into How Far is Tattoo Far on the U.S. This week, Snooki's sidekick in the parlor of ink, Nico Tortorella, joins his former fiance, Lindsay, as the latest big-name client, and recruited by her in hopes to alleviate VIP discord. But under the moonlight in a full moon sitdown, when there's a lot going on the hosts not everything will stay in the villa.

It's the first weekend of the month of March, and welcome on in. Ahead: the shocks keep coming on The Challenge, while the Ex On The Beach house becomes a haunted house. But first, the other moment you've been waiting for at Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club.
When we last Mykonos, there was just about as great confusion as what happened when Warren Beatty incorrectly named LaLa Land Best Picture when it was Moonlight that won that 2017 Oscar. For this instance, there was a plot twist to the first VIP to get fired by Lindsay and Panos: originally, it was going to be May who would get the boot, but a last ditch session of proving herself to the boss instead gave her new life, and it was Jules who, instead, was sent home. Plus, there was an intense yacht ride for Brent, Kailah and Kyle to go on to meet Lindsay, while many others were scratching their heads watching Brent tear up with Sara at the villa.
Jules' surprise exit no doubt sent shockwaves to the VIP's that they could be next to get the boot, and as the crowds still coming the anxiety will no doubt ramp up. And this week, there is continuing worry that the least-liked man in this part of Greece and the main reason why a lot of you are watching this show are the reason for discord in the VIP villa... and it may give reason for the boss lady & her right hand man to send another person home from Greece. But amidst this anxiety, Pride Day is coming... and not only will this give everyone reason to party, but also two of the VIP's some to take pride in while also confronting issues of their own. And of course, there's the LiLo.

Well, we've just had an eventful Oscars night that satisfied everyone in Lady Gaga, Spike Lee, Black Panther and Queen headline a host-less ceremony that turned out to be better than everyone expected, perhaps like what we usually see at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. That event helped introduce the world to Halsey, for whom a newbie VIP to Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club got to fangirl that night in 2016 in Kailah. Well, ever since her arrival things have ramped up a bit in Greece.
When we left Mykonos previously, the VIP hosts had a night to themselves to go out on the town to promote the Lohan Beach House at the resort town's clubs. But Lindsay decided to take a cue by surprising the group at dinner... and when she finds that they were partying instead of spreading the word, she decided to send someone packing. But as we rejoin our friends there, there is a plot twist to the choice of the first VIP to be fired... and not only will there be as much confusion as when LaLa Land got robbed of Best Picture, everyone will be feeling the heat to not be the next one to get the flight home. Plus, an intense yacht ride for the newbies to handle, and could the least-liked man in the VIP villa be cracking under the pressure?

Something we at this site do sometimes is to take a Look Ahead at what's to come in the crystal ball of MTV Reality and see what might be of interest to those of us who follow what we call the Trifecta but is known to a lot of you as the shows that revolve around, or have at least a connection to, The Challenge and its related ecosystem. If you were with us back in late August, we took a break from covering Final Reckoning and the first few weeks of Are You The One? Season 7 to delve into a new project from the producers of The Challenge and Real World as reality pioneers Bunim-Murray Productions teamed with Lindsay Lohan on a docu-series on her new beachside resort in Mykonos. From when the buzz started to trickle in from Europe about the show and who is on the cast, a lot of you out there had this show circled on your calendar as one of those to look forward to in the new year along with finally getting over the past year or so's Challenge trilogy, the sequel to Ex On The Beach and everything else... well, here we are.
This whole 2019 in the overall MTV scheme began on January 2nd with cable's first big new series of the new year: Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club. So much has occurred so far in the Greek island of Mykonos with the group struggling to mix work with pleasure and temptation, the behavior of a well-known club promoter, and as of Episode 4 - a fight that went down with two of the VIP girls over a guy they saw on a night off. But for a lot of fans in this large fandom, the season as they see it is about to begin, and things are about to launch into overdrive by the arrival of not one, but two VIP's joining Aristotle, Jules, Billy, Gabi, Brent, May, Mike, Sara, Gabi and Alex in paradise. And one of them is as familiar to you as she is to us, as three years ago next month she came to the third Real World season to take place in Las Vegas and has gone on to become part of the next wave of female competitors to come onto The Challenge. But aside from what we've seen from her four & a quarter Challenges and her Go Big or Go Home original season, it's the experience she has working the almost nightly nightlife scene there in Sin City -- as well as getting to meet some famous faces while there -- that's seen Kailah be chosen by LiLo to make the flight across to Greece, along with fellow newbie Kyle from New York... and it doesn't take long for her to make her mark in Mykonos.

Tonight sees MTV's first big premiere of the new year and second of the winter following the pre-Christmas premiere of Season 2 of Ex On The Beach. The channel has been on a roll in the past two years for many reasons too many to mention, and of all the premieres it has planned for the first quarter of 2019, this is the one those who are dressed a little more formally than most at 1515 Broadway are betting their attention on.
Back it was announced in the heat of the summer last July, this was one of those rare instances where the big buzz show that was revealed to everyone to great interest on social media was not a direct reboot of an old show like what we've been used to in the past couple years, but a new original idea. This one involved one of the biggest & most-buzzed about stars in showbiz the past two decades, whose life has been in the public eye ever since for both her outstanding career in film, TV and music, and what's happened to her outside of it.
Of course, it's Lindsay Lohan... and she is the boss lady for the latest in a line of new business ventures she has opened up as she goes from actress & musician to now adding entrepreneur to her broad resume. She has generated buzz for this new venture a couple times: her dance at an outdoor party on the beach became one of last year's big viral sensations, and a rough night of her attempting to lead away the kids of a homeless lady was captured on camera on Instagram Live. And it came after the revealing of a new MTV show bearing her name, as she returns to the public limelight with tonight's premiere of perhaps the winter's biggest buzz show.
But she is hardly the star of all this... there are several others who will share the spotlight with Ms. LiLo, as they have been chosen for their social, business and party skills, and who will help the one with one of last year's most popular dances make her own mark in turning Mykonos into the place to be. It has been described in the media as MTV's own take on the show that brought Faith Stowers to the MTV family in Bravo's Vanderpump Rules, but this show promises to be very much different in every other way, especially with someone with a greater appeal to millennials than a Real Housewife.
It may be January, and except for those in Australia this is that time of year where we're all freezing. But we're a full week into the new year of 2019, and tonight sees America and the world come to a new paradise across the Atlantic: Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club.
