Last week was an ultra-busy one at MTV: the VMA's, Kam's boss move and the invasion of Ashley & Hunter to The Challenge, Floribama Shore beating the Jersey OG's on Fear Factor, the debut of Too Stupid to Die, Are You The One? continuing along with its season and the return of Jersey Shore. But for a moment, let's take a look into the crystal ball and peek into the future...
As this DCBLOG site is one that likes to keep our feet set in the present, normally the focus is on covering the series that are airing now: here, it's The Challenge, AYTO and proceeding coverage of both - Floribama Shore. And it's only on occasion that do we get to do what fans on Vevmo and on social media do a lot: discuss matters pertaining to future seasons in the Trifecta and any new series that we might consider to be of particular interest.
The two previous times we got to enact this proposition came last fall when we looked into the expansion of non-MTV US shows into The Challenge when Big Brother and a member of Geordie Shore invaded Vendettas as did four British alumni from Ex On The Beach. And it was after that post in October that we did one for the American version of EOTB, for which it occupied the spot that this week will go to the ladies of Pretty Little Mamas: the post-Jersey Shore slot on Thursdays.

So, Bristol Palin is coming to Teen Mom (and maybe more), The Hills is joining Jersey Shore in making its return, Real World will return to its roots in subscription land, and the search is now on for Nev Schulman's new Catfish sidekick. Now, what's next?
A month ago, MTV announced something that wasn't a spinoff of a old show or a reboot, but a new series looking to capitalize on the channel's renewed focus on reality TV and revitalized interest. At first glance, this might be MTV's own take on a series on Bravo that introduced reality fans to now Challenge rookie & Ex On The Beach alum Faith Stowers. But the person at the heart of this new venture is certainly much more well known to millennials than Lisa Vanderpump, and it's someone who's been a tabloid favorite since she was a childhood star. And those of you moaning that the summer is about to end, soon you'll again be inundated with sights of summer to come while we are getting through the fall and winter, just as we did with Siesta Key and Floribama Shore.
After the jump, we take a Look Ahead at the Lohan Beach Club starring Lindsay Lohan... and featuring someone that fans of the Trifecta might be familiar with who may make a crossover into MTV's first foray in many years into modern-day celeb-reality television. As we like to say, you'll want to join us for a nice round of tea...

In Spring 2004, a teen comedy movie dropped in theaters that had a Saturday Night Live imprint all over it: creator Lorne Michaels was its producer, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were part of the cast, as were fellow SNL stars Ana Gasteyer & Tim Meadows. And the film's screenplay was based in part by Queen Bees and Wannabes, a 2002 self-help book which offered a look at female social cliques in high school and how it can damage the reputations of girls going through the four most exciting years of their time walking down the halls of their local high school.
But the true star of Mean Girls was Lindsay Lohan: twenty years ago this year, she made her debut in a modern-day update of Disney's The Parent Trap. And while she had roles in Freaky Friday and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, this was the role of her playing teenage high school newbie Cady Heron that would define Lindsay. Cady's rivalry with Regina George (played by Rachel McAdams) was the baseline of what became a cult favorite film which has become a favorite of internet memes & GIF's, made every fan of this film look forward to Mean Girls Day on October 3rd, and last year made its way to a musical adaptation on Broadway.
Lindsay's iconic role in Mean Girls turned this childhood star into a teen idol, and kickstarted a showbiz career that expanded into more movie & TV roles, music in two certified albums and 2004 hit "Rumors," and even a fashion line. But amidst all this, she's also had her personal troubles being aired out: a turbulent childhood with her parents divorcing the same year that her house was robbed, public romances with Wilmer Valderramma and Samantha Ronson, a first engagement ending in flames with a Russian-born London millionaire, and recently defending Harvey Weinstein and her apologizing for saying that women "look weak" during the #MeToo circus.

It's amidst this backdrop of her having to defend herself in the court of public opinion after making those dispiriting remarks on sexual harassment to the British press that Lindsey has been going about her business overseas of expanding her empire beyond the screens and songs into new territory as an entrepreneur and calling Dubai home. Last month, MTV and the folks behind The Challenge, Real World and the Kardashian franchise, Bunim-Murray Productions, were brought on by Lindsay to produce a new docu-series featuring her at the center of a new business venture.
The Lohan Beach Club is a new beachside resort and day/nightclub on the island of Mykonos, Greece's most prominent vacation destination outside of Athens. It is her third business venture there after a nightclub in the Olympic city within sight of the Acropolis and a similar Beach House in the eastern resort town of Rhodes. In Mykonos, Lindsay is at the heart of an operation with a restaurant, a boutique, message facilities and the like, and will see her handpick brand ambassadors to help her new Beach House become a place to be in what is known as "The Island of the Winds."
If the idea of the Lohan Beach Club is familiar, for reality TV fans this is the theme behind Bravo's Vanderpump Rules: Real Housewives alum Lisa Vanderpump and her having Lindsay's role in overseeing her Beverly Hills restaurant. This was where the aforementioned Faith made her mark on reality fans when she was part of the infamous love triangle with Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright before she made her way to Ex On The Beach and then to Final Reckoning.
While it won't have the high stakes MTV reality fans are used to - but still balancing the usual drama with that beachy laid-back feel, there are nonetheless some pretty high standards for those working for her will have to live up to during the heart of summer vacation season. The synopsis reads, "Over the course of the season, Lohan’s team must prove their expertise, ambition and charm while helping bring Lohan’s vision to life. The stakes are high as the team establishes new friendships and alliances while striving to rise above the temptations the Mykonos nightlife scene has to offer."

Filming of the season has been going on since the beginning of this month, and a teaser dropped on MTV's social platforms before that to announce this new venture. And unlike other MTV reality series where every cast member is sequestered and where we go months at a time without their presence on Instagram & Twitter, those who've been cast have been active on social media sharing an experience that viewers will get to see for themselves in the new year.
Not surprisingly, the tabloids have followed Lindsey to Mykonos to get shots of her while shooting this new show, and AYTO & Safeword host Terrence J. and girlfriend Jasmine Sanders are among those who've gotten to hang out at the Lohan Beach Club. Also among the notables to travel to paradise include Tiffany Trump and Real Housewives alum Jill Zarin of the New York franchise, who was at its grand opening earlier this summer before the series was announced.
It comes as no surprise that Vevmo has been keeping an eye on what's been going on in Greece since filming began. Though we won't reveal the names of the rest of the cast until air time, the cast who've been chosen to be part of this new venture might fit the modern-day stereotype of the usual new MTV cast we see now on AYTO, ranging from Instagram models to a Vegas club promoter. As always, the group dynamic will be interesting to watch, and no doubt they will become household names when it premieres next year.

But the most notable person on this season's cast is someone who we have gotten to know the past couple years in five-time Challenge participant and Real World alum Kailah Casillas. The last time we saw her was of her walking out of the Final Reckoning house after she and EOTB UK alum Melissa Reeves got into a fight in the premiere that sent the both of them packing. It was the latest in an MTV career that's seen her debut as a scrappy rookie on Invasion, made deep runs on Dirty 30 and the Vendettas final and was destined for big things in South Africa until snap judgement got the best of her in settling unfinished business before the competition really began last month... not to mention live it up in what's now her residency in Las Vegas.
If what we saw from Kailah on The Challenge and RW Go Big or Go Home made her one of the most polarizing figures in recent memory among the new generation of MTV'ers, then her heading out to Greece will sure be a welcome escape: no worries about someone putting her down on the former and where she can just enjoy living her best life right there on the beach. She's gotten to hang out with Floyd Mayweather, Halsey, Kevin Hart, the Jersey Shore cast (her & boyfriend Mikey P. were spotted at Ronnie's baby shower on last week's Family Vacation return) and Shiggy of "In My Feelings" challenge fame, and her being able to hang out with celebs like Lindsay and Terrence will make the transition from Kailah the Challenger to Kailah the Ambassador a much easier one.
One who lived with her in the Gold Spike suite in Downtown that hosted that third Real World Vegas season and then on The Challenge XXX last year, Ammo, congratulated her on Instagram, "A big congratulations to @kailah_casillas for her new show, @mtvlohanbeachhouse. A lot of people don’t realize that being on TV is a job. I realized that first day on “Real World” how seriously you take this job, and every other job presented to you. I’m so proud of you, I love you, best of luck. @lindsaylohan — take care of my girl, okay? X AMMO"

For now, filming continues for Lohan Beach Club, and the video proof of what we'll be seeing of MTV's answer to Vanderpump Rules is still a long way off... and we'll be waiting with everyone else for when it premieres - and a lot will happen now until then. But one thing will be for certain: when you have a lady who's made quite a bit of headlines the past 20 years at the helm of a new vacation destination in this Mediterranean paradise, things will sure heat up... the year of 2019 will obviously be one to remember for MTV fans.
