Welcome back once again to DCBLOG as we recap the premiere of Are You The One? Season 3. Again as mentioned in our last post, DC WRAP is a new, separate post from this site's signature SocialPulse diaries which were posted over the weekend and designed just for those who are in a hurry and who want just a straight-up recap of the episodes.
Last week's premiere episode of AYTO 3 had just about everything to kick things all off: a game-changing twist, a ladies man kissing several girls in the first 15 minutes, two girls going at one another at the first matchup ceremony, a Bostonian at the heart of a good old love triangle, and of course everyone's favorite communal game of Spin the Bottle played by an eclectic cast looking for love and money. Quite an opening salvo.
Coming up here, we'll have the Five Things to Know recap of the night's key moments and Winners of the Night. And then on DC ExtraTime, we'll have the story of one of this season's singles and the connection they have to a fellow MTV show pivotal in AYTO's growth. That's ahead after the jump.
After the usual pleasantries of seeing the cast for the first time and host Ryan Devlin welcoming them with an unpleasant "blackout" twist, the attention turns to Alec and his romantic escapades. The first to feel the appeal of Mr. Gonzo (who was utterly humiliated by a couple podcast hosts on their preview) is Rashida, who twice had her heart broken on V-Day, feels Alec is a great guy and they share the season's first kiss. Then, he starts to flirt in the backyard with Stacey, where she feels he's her perfect match. Again, Alec locks lips with Stacey, this time with Rashida watching all that unfold and she gets tee'd off. This would've been the end of the drama, but that wouldn't be the case.
- Spin The Bottle, and Boom Boom Crazy
In episode 2 of Season 1, we saw a late-night party game of kissing around the rosy help bond the Originals, and we saw something similar last season. In this first episode of Season 3, that favorite game of ours known as Spin the Bottle returns to AYTO on the very first night in the house. After a few hours' worth of flirting and having a good cold ones, these girls and guys - single, ready to mingle and, as JP/"Audubon" from Wash. Hts. likes to add - "pop it like a Pringle", all play that game. It feels a bit safe at first with kisses with friends and crushes, but it's when Alec kisses Hannah that things start to get steamy much to Stacey's chagrin. We see more make outs than what you can count with your fingers, both in the circle and around the house, including our first trip to the Boom Boom Room with Magic Mike and Amanda.

- "Worst Face Forward" and Swimming with Dolphins
For the season's first getaway challenge, R-Dev invites the boys & girls to play "Worst Face Forward," as they have to guess which funny picture belongs to whom, with four spots on the first getaway date at stake. Mike, Hunter, Melanie and Cheyenne pick up the W's and, respectively, they choose Hannah, Kiki, Devin and Chuck to hop along with them. The reward is going into the Pacific Ocean to swim and scuba dive with the dolphins, and as a diving instructor Chuck's most eager to show his new friends his second home. He also sees his date Chel get seasick and they don't think they're matches, but aside from Mike and Hannah it's a different story for the other couples.
- Kiki's with Devin, Melanie Chooses Devin, Kiki's with Hunter...
On that date, Hunter feels he and Kiki are a match, but she thinks she's into Devin more and considers the heartthrob just a friend. And for Melanie, she chooses Devin for the date since she feels he's her match, but instantly regrets it after seeing Dev & Kiki make out and make a connection the previous night when she hears about it. He has a history of commitment troubles and has cheated in every one of his serious relationships which baffles Melanie. Back home, the housemates deliberate their fates for the the Truth Booth, and after initially thinking of putting Mel and Devin in, but instead go with Hunter and Kiki much to her dismay, and after feeling they're not a match, she's right: No Match.
- Match-Ups: Amanda vs. Kiki and Nelson's Revelation
Sure, the cast began where Seasons 1 & 2 had at matchups of only getting two lights at the first matchup and their dreams of having the full $1 million remain in tact. But the most important moment at the patio was a good-old argument between two of the girls, plus some shadiness from one of the guys too. When Amanda goes with Magic Mike she gets into it with Kiki about her reaction at the Booth, since she feels Kiki is fake, and Kiki tells Amanda to shut it. Then when Melanie sticks with Devin, Nelson brings it out into the open that Devin is trying to sleep with both girls and puts him on blast for his shadiness in being part of a good old love triangle. Mel feels like she wants to change her choice, while Kiki feels she's an idiot for liking Big D. Just another night in AYTO land.

WINNERS OF THE NIGHT
Considering how crazy and twisted this premiere was, it's hard for me to choose only one winner of the night as the castmate who impressed me back on Thursday. So, here's my three stars...
- Alec: Okay, so he is not the favorite of the RHAP hosts, but when you notch not only the season's first smooch but also three kisses on the first night in the house, it's more than worthy enough to land Alec in my first Winner of the Night list. Not to mention, he was also the first in the running order for the SnapChat that introduced this group to the world. He has gone up the list in many's power rankings and it may be the start of a very good season for him.
- Kiki: When you get into words with Amanda at the matchup, go on a date with heartthrob Hunter, become part of the first big couple this season with Devin and got a strong reaction on social media that lead to censuring some fans on twitter, you've already made a great impact in only one week. Kiki also shot up high in the rankings and with both her personality, what we saw from her in the premiere and what will be discussed below, she may become leading lady this year.
- Amanda: The same is true for who'll likely be her partner if there's a Rivals 3 Challenge, but Amanda also made a good impact of her own in week 1. Having already made fans with her hilarious videos before this season began, she helped to christen the Season 3 Boom Boom Room and she has potential to become a standout star of this season 3 cast as well.

Is That AYTO Girl The One Who Dated That Teen Mom Boyfriend?
Now to DC ExtraTime, and something of interest if you're an overall MTV fan like me and not just of the Trifecta. As those of you fans probably know, AYTO Season 1 aired in that coveted 11PM slot of following Teen Mom 2, and it along with Catfish can thank one of MTV's two most-publicized foursomes for giving them the huge ratings bump and big buzz that saw succeeding seasons air one hour earlier. As mentioned here before, I began watching TM back in March when the OG original girls made their MTV return, influenced mainly by the additions of new kids to my inner circle in the course of the past 7 years - three of them this year alone, as well as provide some insight into that ultimate life challenge of raising a kid amidst the soap opera lives of the franchise's two casts. Obviously, me and some of the MTV Trifecta family can relate to them in going through this life-changing phase right now.
Of course, Jemmye is the Trifecta's biggest TM fan with her always hilarious and honest live tweets which are a must for fans of the show. Besides that, the TM girls and their inner circles have support for Team MTV: Kailyn Lowry & husband Javi showing support for Jem and fellow Challenge vet Nany wanting to spend time with their adorable son Isaac; back-from-rehab Leah Messer being friends with fellow WV'ers of the Buckwild bunch with one of them, Katie, being at next week's reunion; and Adam from Real World Back to Vegas hanging out with the ex of OG Amber Portwood, Gary Shirley. Adam also became friends with fellow OG Maci Bookout some time back (both her and Gary wore his clothing line on the show), and that's where this latest story of being part of this small world of Team MTV takes us to.
As documented during the early part of their MTV stint, Maci had a relationship with boyfriend and later fiance Ryan Edwards until that all came crashing down. Along with having to share joint custody of adorable son Bentley, after the split Ryan began looking to rebound with other girls, and one of them is on this AYTO Season 3 cast. Proof came in this tweet he sent out to one of the castmates: "@KikiMTV now that you think your famous tell ppl I wasn't your bf....thanks!"
Per a story from The Ashley's Reality Roundup, Kiki dated Ryan back in 2013 while production of the original Teen Mom was on hiatus due to Amber's jail sentence. He dated her after breaking up with on-air girlfriend Dalis and before he shacked up with current girlfriend Shelby. The story is that after they met Bentley in his native Tennessee, Ryan would ditch Kiki for a weekend and she was forced to have a spend it with his parents, and that heartbreak eventually saw them head down to Splitsville, and leading her to look for a second chance at love, this time with MTV cameras in tow.

DC FORUM: CALLING ALL FANS...
Finally, as mentioned on my preview with Andrew Kirk last week, DCBLOG is expanding the DC FORUM discussion feature to becoming more of a regular part of my Trifecta coverage this season. And because I wasn't able to land a guest to do a mini Q&A on this premiere, I thought it would be good to again provide the info on here again in case you missed that post last week.
Knowing how increasingly well-known this site is to both those in the MTV world and to fans of AYTO and the Real World/Challenge franchise, I'm offering an invitation to fans, bloggers, webcast hosts and even former cast members to join me here to provide their thoughts on this site. Along with Pulse diaries and recapping episodes and offering extra insight when warranted, DC WRAP will offer a FORUM section where I'll invite one of those people from my invitee list to do a mini Q&A of about 3-5 questions to discuss the week's episodes and the season up to that point. It's something that I want to do to help provide fresh insight, help fuel conversation and to liven things up more on here.
If you want to do a DC FORUM Q&A for this site on the Trifecta, just tweet, follow or send me a DM to my twitter @DC408Dxtr, or just email me dc408dxtr@icloud.com. At either place, and thanks to Twitter no longer putting a 140-character limit on direct messages, it makes it possible for me to ask questions to followers on both platforms, in addition to the usual things like possible topics and questions and other things. But of course, either platform is fine.
And of course, as the new focus of my DC FORUM posts, I look forward to talking to you about the shows you love. After all, I know you got plenty of opinions from hosting shows and reacting to them on social media, and I look forward to translating them to this blog. And you're the people who watch, support and drive the conversation of these shows like me, and it's fitting that now, I get to turn the tables and get your thoughts as I continue to do one of the things I love: following this world of all things MTV and DCBLOG and on my social platforms.Knowing how increasingly well-known this site is to both those in the MTV world and to fans of AYTO and the Real World/Challenge franchise, I'm offering an invitation to fans, bloggers, webcast hosts and even former cast members to join me here to provide their thoughts on this site. And that's our DCBLOG three-part look at the juicy first episode of Are You The One? Season 3. This is only the beginning of our wall-to-wall coverage of the MTV Trifecta here, as again we're taking you wire to wire from the buzz of the seasons starting up until its last act coming down the road. There is, of course, a lot for my fellow webcast hosts and bloggers to discuss, along with articles of interest for those of you who want more, and here's a sampling...
- As evidenced by all the buzz given to them by both this season's cast and fellow alums, check out the must-listen AYTO RHAP with Brian Cohen (@BusDriversRoute) and Ali Lasher (@LashsTweets) on Rob Has A Podcast. They have the premiere covered, plus hear their honest & hilarious 2-part cast preview. Listen to those shows and past podcasts robhasawebsite.com, and check out the Bus Drivers Route blog at busdriversroute.com as he gives his weekly NFL picks.
- My great colleague Andrew Kirk (@CSUGradAKirk) will again be covering the MTV Trifecta this year, and after the premiere he discussed it on Google+ Hangout, which you can check it here. He will also cover the new Survivor season (including this premiere recap), and check out all of his recaps and cast interviews on his YouTube page, his SpreeCast & BlogTalkRadio pages and his Big Time Reality TV blog.
- AfterBuzz TV (@AfterBuzzTV) is again covering AYTO on their webcast platform at www.afterbuzztv.com, while for Challenge fans, Daniel Shady Sykes talked last week with vet Brandon Nelson on all things Challenge and more. Check out that webcast on Google+ here, and since B-Nel's based in Las Vegas, he and a few others are candidates for something I will be looking to cross off the bucket list of being the first MTV castmate I've met in person. So stay tuned for that.
Finally, one of the must-read magazines and websites of the entertainment industry, Variety Magazine, provided a preview of Season 3 on premiere day, featuring an interview with executive producers Rob LaPlante and Jeff Spangler, which you can read here. And congrats to them and the entire Lighthearted Entertainment team on a great week which, in addition to increased viewership to the Season 3 premiere, also saw the season finales to VH1's Dating Naked and Twinning, and for which there will be 3rd season of the former coming up in the new year. I'm sure the company's late founder, Howard Schultz, will be most proud of everyone at one of the pioneers of reality TV.
Be sure to follow DCBLOG and all my social platforms for the busy time ahead for me with both Are You The One? now underway again and the big DC VEGAS trip upcoming.
- Of course, this site will be all over Season 3 with Pulse diaries and episode Wraps, plus ExtraTime posts on the people of Team MTV and more. Coming this weekend in addition to recapping Episode 2, we'll offer a retrospective on Challenge host T.J. Lavin and his brush with disaster five years ago that touched both those in the action sports and MTV worlds.
- As announced last week, I will be traveling to Las Vegas next week for my 7th trip to Sin City, and I plan to use my social platforms to bring that trip to the social world. That means, my Twitter & Instagram @DC408Dxtr will come in handy in a couple weeks from there, as well as my newly launched presence on Snapchat, Periscope, Vine and other public venues.
- As always, follow my dedicated live Twitter hub, DCNOW at @DC408DxNow for live and real-time tweets of AYTO 3, plus CMT's docu-series Gainesville, MTV's Todrick, and the fall sports slate. And I'm also on Tumblr at dc408dxtr.tumblr.com.
Once again, hope you enjoyed checking out this triple-shot of DCBLOG's recap of the great premiere to Season 3 of Are You The One?, and join me on DCNOW tomorrow for Episode 2 when it settles into its spot on Wednesday nights. Until then, thanks for reading and see you then.
- I AM DC
