Well it's been some time since we spoke, but it's better late then never. The 27th season of The Challenge is all but done and dusted and all that's left to so here is our final DC WRAP of this Bloodlines season. We have a new champion, a newcomer onto this Challenge world and a girl who really proved herself this season.
Coming up on this expanded edition of The WRAP, we'll have the Things to Know recap of the Berlin section of this Bloodlines season, with the key moments and storylines that emerged once the final four teams arrived in Berlin and what happened in Germany. We'll have a final trip into the Strategy Room to look over the final and our takeaways from that and of the teams. Then after the fan reaction, DC ExtraTime will introduce you to Baby Tadison and two other Real World babies as well. All that is ahead.

Berlin Finale Edition
Now, as we've mentioned here a good deal, this finale edition of Things to Know will feature, as it was the last time we did this some time ago, a brief overview of key storylines that emerged in the final three episodes, which spans the final four's stint in Berlin for the last regular mission and pit, and obviously the final challenge.
● Cara Maria's Turning Point: As we came to Berlin, Cara Maria had endured a last place finish in the last Turkish challenge and her relying on Jamie to best Mike in the Pit which also sent brother Abe home at last after everything that gone on with them. So, with him out of the way, she finally had a chance to fully focus on the game and despite putting up good efforts in the last two regular challenges, nonetheless she & Jamie were voted into the Pit yet again. It was in the last competition in Turkey that, in a puzzle no less, she would have her greatest elimination moment when she beat out Johnny Bananas. Obviously, it was a huge moment for her and ultimately decided this season.
● Cory & Mitch Close Strong: In Challenge world, momentum is coveted and you always want to take advantage of it and hope it's enough to get into the winner's circle or make a deep run. Going into the season's last regular mission, the guys had recovered from a tough go in most of the mini-final in Turkey to catch up at the puzzle and win on the back on Mitch after Cory's struggles. In jumping from truck to truck, the guys slayed that course in what was a relative cakewalk for the competitors to notch that 2nd straight win and claim that finals berth. Plus on top of being as tight knit as they are, the guys aced their political game to put in the vets - JB and then Aneesa - in the Pit.
● Aneesa Falls Short: The last of the remaining old school vets on here, Aneesa has been through this scenario of being to the final so many times. And being this close to the final, she also had to deal with cousin Rianna as well, which when we went to Berlin we saw little connection between them despite all attempts being made. That put a question of whether they were distant cousins or not too. After what happened in the last mission, the group went out to the bar and Aneesa got into words with Cara Maria, mentioning her Boston accent and her Abe relationship. That only amped out their Pit battle which Cara wins, and it ended peacefully, both there and on Twitter.
● The First Stage: The entire penultimate episode was devoted to the final's first phase, which lasted five stages and where cumulative time, not who crosses the line 1st, would win the whole thing, and the $250,000 of that $350K prize pool. An abandoned CIA station on the outskirts of Berlin was the venue for stage one, which saw the finalists run laps carrying weighted backpacks, and mini challenges after each lap. They included flipping beer steins into barrels (and chugging a cold one for every miss), rolling barrels on the ground, completing a puzzle and walking in a circle on tires without touching the floor. The guys drop to 3rd, while Cara & Jamie and the girls battle for first from the bell. But after lap 1, Jenna & Bri would take the lead and win stage 1 going away.
● The Middle Part: The final's middle stages saw the competitors exchange their Under Armour gear for nicely tailored suits & ties by a tailor named Felix. Phase #2, which started the finale EP, saw the competitors go to a dinner table at sunset and to have a traditional German supper consisting of blood soup, blood wurst, Weiss wurst, sauerkraut and speck. It was no surprise that everyone puke and it wasn't a surprise that the girls would lose their lead in not eating much, while Jamie helps Cara out in eating virtually all of their food. Then when I thought they would have a ride back to the hotel to rest, instead they go to an abandoned train station to rest and stand in a space holding a suitcase. The teams alternate rest & standing and after an encounter with workers, its Day 2.
● Destination: Gold: Stage 4 saw the competitors begin second day not at full energy after having a full night in the train station. Nonetheless, they were forced to take a 10-mile canoe ride up the Spree River in the heart of the city. As expected, Cara & Jamie take the lead and finish the checkpoint first, followed by Cory & Mitch and Jenna & Brianna, for which the girls run into trouble and lose more time. The final destination was Berlin Olympic Stadium, where Jesse Owens his golden Olympic moment 80 years ago, and where this Challenge was decided. The players had to solve a puzzle to decode a number that would come to 15 in all directions, and again it was no surprise that math wiz Mitch that aces that test. He & Cory run into the Stade and complete their two miles before everyone else, followed by Cara & Jamie and Jenna & Bri.
STRATEGY ROOM
The Final in Review
Okay, so it may not have matched the kind of huge final we've seen in past Challenges, but you couldn't beat the setting of a historic city as host of the first Challenge city final. And as I wrote in the EP12 Wrap, it is familiar from a family standpoint (my parents went there a few years back) and from a personal standpoint (my Olympic acumen). We'll go from descending order from 3rd to 1st.
● JENNA & BRIANNA: When Jenna was put into last season's final, she & Jay were just a mere layup. This season, she broke out in a big way in proving that there is more to her than just being someone who could be on a "Beauty" team if they applied the new Survivor season's theme into a Challenge . Jenna won all three of her Pit battles by herself to more than earn a second chance much quicker than all of us thought. The fact that they were ahead after the first stage of the final made made this more interesting than it was going in and made us believe something surprising could happen again. Sure, the drama of what happened earlier on with Brianna came back to haunt them in the final, but it made the cash feel all the
● CORY & MITCH: For the fifth time in the past six Challenges, we had a first time rookie make it to the final, and if you listened to Andrew Kirk's Bloodlines preview then you're not surprised that Cory made it to the end and finished. We knew that Cory was Challenge material the moment we saw him in the park in his Real World season's premiere, and despite difficulties he encountered along the way he was the latest to put his hat in for those who could lead the next generation of this show. For cousin Mitch, he was there as Cory's trusted guide and with their strong bond and his brawn in the puzzle parts of this final, he definitely proved there was more to him than dance moves down the stretch. Cory has a strong future ahead while Mitch has a nice, belated Cal graduation gift too.
● CARA MARIA & JAMIE: When you get down to it, the person for whom this entire Challenge centered around is the one who won this when the medals were awarded. Cara had entered this season as best competitor not to win, and it would've been a totally odd sight of her not winning this season if that was the case. There was doubt over whether she can achieve this feat considering what happened to her this season, but again they peaked at the right time and when everything was all clear for them. Sure, Jamie did win that first of the three eliminations and did his job to help out in that eating portion, but in the end this was Cara's Challenge to win. She's got $125,000 to fall back on, a tighter bond with Jamie than when this game began, and she is a deserving champion as well.

@dc408dxnow: Bri takes care of her course. Jenna is having flashbacks of what happened as she is trying to get it in in less than 30 mins. #DCChallenge
@dc408dxnow: Cory is hurting here. But Cara & Jamie take stage 2 and will cut the girls' lead considerably. Now the fighting for S1 leaders are up again
@dc408dxnow: But them not completing sees the girls and guys teams get docked 10 mins here at sunset & now train to the bus & hotel. But it's a dungeon.
@dc408dxnow: So, no hotel and it's a train station deep in the underground & they gotta rotate turns here for the night. Again, uncomfortable sleep.
@dc408dxnow: On blog earlier, I thought they were going to a hotel & rest. But I'm wrong as they're having a long night in the underground. #DCChallenge
@dc408dxnow: What has happened? A train delay. No time penalties by way of a guard & TJ intervening. That came out of left field. Day 2... #DCChallenge
@dc408dxnow: So now, they're canoeing down the river and it's anyone's game bc of no trains. Now it's in the water w/ this 10-mile trek. #DCChallenge
@dc408dxnow: I expected Cara & Jamie to win this thing, and he killed it at the table. Now they should take the time lead as the girls are complaining.
@dc408dxnow: And the girls are in 3rd, the guys are in 2nd and it looks as if this could be a battle for lower podium spots here behind the favorites.
@dc408dxnow: The guys are keeping pace here behind Cara & Jamie. And now the girls are having trouble navigating the boat. They don't know where guys are
@dc408dxnow: Cara & Jamie are first to finish and should take the time now. Then Cory & Mitch finish and the girls get there too. Likely change in 2/3
@dc408dxnow: All of our teams have arrived at Berlin Olympic Stadium. And now they have to solve a puzzle, then run a 8-lap, 2-mile race to stop time.
@dc408dxnow: It was in this stadium in 1936 that Jesse Owens put on the defining performance of the 1st Olympic century in front of a ruthless dictator.
@dc408dxnow: Ten years ago this summer, Italy survived a Frenchman's headbutt, a Serie A scandal & a shootout to claim their 4th World Cup here in Berlin
@dc408dxnow: And now it comes down to this. One puzzle, a 2-mile race and time to determine who this season. Anything can happen here. #DCChallenge
@dc408dxnow: And in those briefcases are those key code numbers that will unlock the code that gets them into this historic place in sports history.
@dc408dxnow: And momentum has shifted now to Cory & Mitch as they complete the puzzle 1st. And now they're on that historic track running those laps.
@dc408dxnow: And it in 2009 here that Usain Bolt set world records in the 100, 200 & the relay at the world championships. The guys are by themselves.
@dc408dxnow: And it's possible that momentum will drive these lifelong cousins to glory. And the unexpected may happen for the 2nd time in four months.
@dc408dxnow: Four months ago tonight, the #AYTO 3 cast pulled off an amazing comeback. Now, we could have another come from behind win here w/ the guys.
@dc408dxnow: Cara & Jamie are struggling with puzzles, as they did on the hill. The guys are enjoying a leisure run and now they get to enjoy some rest.

THREE CHEERS FOR THREE BABIES
Now, the theme of this Challenge has been about family. And in the time between doing these posts and finally posting it a few weeks after the finale, there have been three life changers in the form of new babies. And if they say good things come in threes, then so is this last ExtraTime of Bloodlines.

But now after all of that - including her heading to Turkey to tend to him after his injury, it's been a very long road to this crowning moment. And we fast forward some six months after the baby news got out to the eve of the Bloodlines finale when with great fanfare, the moment had arrived for them. It was on the Tuesday before the Challenge finale that the news became official: Madison welcomed Harper Marilyn Delaney Walls, and Tony tweeting the baby's weight: 6 lbs, 15 oz.
Daddy Raines posted on his social platforms, "She's here! 6lbs 15oz and beautiful. In a world of uncertainty, our love for you will always stand true. The love today is unbelievable, thank you everyone for the support! Me and @madiwadi2by4 couldn't be more grateful." Maddy added, "My world. I'm a mommy." And brother Shane added, "My God @t_raines and @madiichanning really did make the most beautiful baby ever together! She's an angel!! So proud of my brother n Madison for being such great parents, and having the most beautiful baby ever! Thanks for making me the luckiest Uncle/Godfather ever!! She's perfect! I couldn't be any happier right now."

Last Wednesday, Laura Waller welcomed her new addition, Aveya Rian Waller in her Omaha, Nebraska hometown, or "HOMAHA" as she likes to call it. The details posted on Instagram tell us she was born on February 23 at 12:08 PM CT, weighing 7 lbs. 9 oz., measuring 19 inches and being given the nickname of Veya.
We all remember Laura being crazy for Baltimore guy Trey during that stay on Hassel Island and then being on the succeeding Challenge in that same Turkish mansion used for Bloodlines. Now, she's found her perfect companion in a beautiful new baby.
And finally, there's an alum with a baby as well. Eleven years ago, we saw a memorable Real World season and cast in Austin, TX that saw so many things happen down in Texas. Just a few weeks back, we told you about Melinda getting married for the second time, and now they have another live changer.
Johanna Botta is the latest from RW Austin to experience that moment. We first saw her as that fiery Latina from Peru who moved to America when she was in elementary school and deferred a stay at Columbia University for her experience in Texas. That season in the Lone Star State, she became romantic with Wes and stayed together for some time after leaving the Live Music Capital of the World before she got to become close with Challenger Kenny, thus giving birth to that rivalry.
Six years after we saw last her on The Ruins (and not counting a Challenge Mania special that aired during Free Agents), Jo has settled into doing TV work outside the MTV world (including a advert for a Marriott hotel brand). She now calls London home and on Instagram last week, she revealed to everyone for the first time that she is a mom to a new son. Unlike the other Team MTV alums who've posted selfies of their new babies, she neglected to show her new addition, but nonetheless she's happy to have her new addition in her life.
