The arrival this winter of Joss, Kayleigh, Melissa and Rogan from the original British version of EOTB to The Challenge Vendettas and the drama that three of the four brought to American viewers for the first time helped to set the stage for the entry into our shores of the show they first became big shots in the MTV International community. The concept is as twisted as you can get in the reality TV world: singles fly into a tropical paradise looking for love and with the premise that they are in for the time of their lives as they look for new love. But out of nowhere, those girlfriends and boyfriends they got away from them will invade the island and the beach with intent on getting revenge, renewing old flames and causing a whole lot of drama.
This week is the first act of the new American adaptation of EOTB, and to help ease the transition from big time drama in Spain to a whole new level of crazy, familiar names to both MTV viewers and those who watch reality TV outside the Viacom community, as well as a few ordinary joes like you and I, will come to the islands of Hawaii intent on getting a fresh start in their love lives. And while there may be as many as a couple couples getting the chance to explore much more than their initial first impressions, they have no idea for the kind of hell that will go down when their exes emerge from out of left field and onto their turf. And there's no idea what's in store.
Coming up, we'll have all the action, reaction and interaction from this week's premiere of Ex on the Beach, along with both the lead-up to the big night of this past Thursday and the Friday hangover from after this first chance for Americans to see what those outside the U.S. have been bragging about for some time... a good first time, that is. And after the diary, ExtraTime will catch up with a modern day definition of #RelationshipGoals as a couple who met on MTV's other romantic reality series reveal their latest good news.

So, for this new ride into this American adaptation of an international sensation, quite an opening salvo as we saw Cory, Taylor, a Bad Girl, Bachelor Nation, a Big Brother and ordinary lovers dive into the dating pool, and saw the former two make a connection as did a few others in a pad once occupied by the Biebs. And those who watched Tay's AYTO season saw her roommate Derrick drop in as part of the first set of exes to emerge from the ocean and onto the beach. And it's the ladder and Angela who will be the first to face the music of the Shack of Secrets, as everyone is on edge of wondering, "Whose Ex is Next?" HAYDEN, GIANNA & A SKATER BOY
As for Season 5's shining stars, Hayden & Gianna first met early on in the Dominican Republic, and they were perfect matches in their minds even if the flawed science of matchmaking suggested that they weren't in the Truth Booth. They stayed together after that chaotic March night a year ago, and when tested with the same kind of true relationship test that Derrick & Angela will have to go through on Episode 2, Hayden and his Truth Booth-confirmed Perfect Match Carolina were sent to The Choice on Second Chances and he stole their $60,000 bank to take back to the Midwest.
In a reality TV world where romantic couples come and go like night and day, Gianna & Hayden are still together and stronger than ever... their 200,000 collective Instagram followers adore them every day as their show's definition of #RelationshipGoals along with Amber & Ethan from Season 1. And on Valentine's Day they revealed the latest piece of good fortune to come to them: in two Instagram posts posted by both their accounts, the couple announced that they are expecting their first baby due to arrive in August.
The last time a couple who met on this guilty pleasure announced their entry into parenthood, Amber & Ethan invited their entire original cast for a baby shower and gender reveal where they found out with the rest of them that they would have a baby girl... another baby princess is due in two months. There wasn't an elaborate, televised gender reveal party for Gianna & Hayden like their Season 1 counterparts, but this past week the Season 5 couple resorted to something a little more traditional in revealing the gender of their first baby: revealing it on social media.
She captioned on Instagram @giannahammer, "Our little bean is a little boy 🎉🎉💙💙💙💙🤗🤗🤗😄😄😄😄👪 @hayden.parker.weaver #minihayden #babyboy #luckiestmamma #wittlegentleman #skaterboy". And he added on his IG @hayden.parker.weaver, "Our little BOY will be ready to steal hearts starting this August 💙 @giannahammer we cannot wait to meet you little guy #MiniMe #DaddysBoy."
Again, our congrats go out to them as they continue on the road to parenthood, which we know they will be great parents to that baby boy.
