Welcome once again to DC SocialPulse and to our episode diary for episode 2 of Are You The One? Season 2. Last week, the season began with a twist being given to the latest group of 20 pledges in search for love: the additional of an additional 11th girl who is part of a double match for one of the guys. There was a scheme by one of the couples to stay out of the truth booth, a broken nose and an icy challenge. Their quest for the cash started where season 1 was: a no match in the truth booth and only two matches in the matchup, but it's just the first try with a long way to go and lots of time.
After the events of the premiere, this week sees two of the singles suddenly find themselves in the middle of everyone's favorite romantic situation on MTV reality shows: a love triangle. We'll find out some valuable and juicy scoop on some of the housemates, and that girl who entered the house as the last one in is finally eligible to go into the room that changes everything, which could send a girl home. And will good fortune come to Team 21?

We begin the EP2 installment of theWRAP just as it was for season 1 of Are You The One?: the group having a slow start in getting only two perfect matches in the first matchup and no luck in the truth booth, leaving them all frustrated and confused. This comes even with a strategy of going with their guts and following their hearts. But even though there's only nine tries left, patience will be needed and time will be on their side.
After what we saw last week with Pratt & Paris, the attention in the house turns to a number of other budding couples. Watching them hang by the pool and sharing their common histories of dating the wrong people, a new couple emerges in Shelby and Nathan, which may prove to be trying too hard to be a match. Shelbs is uncertain if Prime Time is the one, and when you add Dario to the mix in him laying some moves on her and then stealing her, you've got a good old love triangle.
Last week, we saw the first potential love triangle of the season come about when we saw Layton go on a date with Jessica and then choose Jenni at the matchup. He & Jenni seem to be a perfect match, though Jess is staying mum about it. When she got up in his business of him kissing Jenni, Big Country wasn't keen on going back to her, and that's when Jess began to go towards Anthony.
Last week, we saw the first potential love triangle of the season come about when we saw Layton go on a date with Jessica and then choose Jenni at the matchup. He & Jenni seem to be a perfect match, though Jess is staying mum about it. And there's Brandon and Christina, who after what we saw last week having fun in the pool, are the most serious love interests with her thinking he's "my ying to my yang." Once again, sparks fly with the both of them: they hook up in the pool and then take their talents to the Boom Boom Room. Once again they seal the deal, and he believes, "I can really see a future with this girl."
This week's getaway challenge had echoes of last season's nuts challenge where the originals had to figure which quotes belong to which girl through coconuts. This time, it's relatively the same thing with the guys taking center stage and figuring out the hearsay while the girls relax on the sidelines, but this time the quotes challenge took place on the beach. In the end, it was Curtis, Alex and Brandon who took the win, and they chose, respectively, Briana, Jasmine and Christina as their dates.
Their reward was a trip to La Beastia in the Orocovis Mountains for their date, and the Toro Verde Zip Line - the tallest and longest zip line on earth at over 4,745 feet long, 843 feet above ground and going 65 mph (it's Puerto Rico's ultimate thrill ride). They all got to enjoy their date, just as the housemates back home deliberated about who to send in. For the winning team, Jaz & Alex find out that they have opposite attraction: she wants stability and a clear future, while he prefers an unstructured and free life. For another pair, this trip was the opportunity to get become even closer - more on that in my Perspective.
For the 3rd place pair, Brandon & Christina worry about potentially being sent in, and also that the house would want to put them in the truth booth and get rid of the 11th girl, which has been looming large since the start, and thus they were voted in. At the same time, Tyler is worried that she might be part of the double match, but she couldn't convince the house enough to put someone else in. She also tried her best to convince Alex that she's her match, but that too also goes by the wayside. That left Ty in tears with Ellie at her side.
There, for the 2nd week in a row, Brandon enters that room in the forest that changes everything. Last week, there was relief that was unlike what happened in the very first truth booth ever. This time, the reaction would be very much different when he & Christina, and the housemates in the living room, see the words "No Match." Brandon freaks out and admits, "I honestly don't care what this thing says...it doesn't matter...She is my match." After that 2nd straight no match and him sobbing, the house wanted the opportunity to strategize and plan out the 2nd match ceremony to determine whether Curtis/Briana and Pratt/Paris were the two matches first time out. Pratt thinks this strategy thing isn't for him, while Paris thinks this is coming at the worst possible time. Both P&P desert the strategy room, head upstairs and get it on, knowing that they're listening with their hearts and not their heads. Both should be told by some to not trust that truth booth.

Winners of the Night...and Perspective
Now, I might not do this feature as much during AYTO2 as I did for every episode of The Challenge earlier this year, but there is a Winner of the Night for me to single out here this week. Although there was Brandon & Christina, the triangles of Nate/Shelby/Dario & Jenni/Layton/Jessica, zip-lining and no change in fortune, the moment of the night for me was what happened with one of the winning couples during the getaway date. And that gave us an opportunity to realize that family comes first.

Briana & Curtis have the potential of becoming the next fan favorite couple thanks to the consensus approval of them in social world (an IG pic of them kissing is proof), a solid chance that they may be the season's first perfect match if the house has its way, and they live not too far from each other in the San Diego area - so no long-distance relationship worries. The moment that, I felt, bonded them came after they got to enjoy zip-lining when they were having lunch in the surroundings.
For someone who, as the bio states, just graduated San Diego St. and has plans to get her man, tie the knot and become a parent, this was the first time that Briana revealed a story that is perhaps even more heartbreaking than what my family has gone through three times this year of losing a loved one. After their adventure, she shared with him a story of her being young adult in high school and pregnant a few years earlier, but suffering a miscarriage and losing the child she waited so long to raise.
For someone who, as the bio states, just graduated San Diego St. and has plans to get her man, tie the knot and become a parent, this was the first time that Briana revealed a story that is perhaps even more heartbreaking than what my family has gone through three times this year of losing a loved one. After their adventure, she shared with him a story of her being young adult in high school and pregnant a few years earlier, but suffering a miscarriage and losing the child she waited so long to raise.
Just like any couple who have been together for a long time, Curtis would hold his ground in being stoic, and being ultra-supportive of her after she talked to him about it. Bri was so appreciative of Curtis in him offering the first true moment of maturity by anyone we've seen this season, which definitely proves that he's in it for everything, not just with money at stake. This also leads him to say that they're the house couple that their fellow housemates can look up to.
After the episode aired, Briana took to Instagram to offer advice to those can relate to her in having gone through this traumatic experience, and offered a message to those who can be lucky that they have the children that they have, as well as her family.
"Tonight's episode was definitely hard for me to watch considering it is the first time I very publicly talked about it.
• To all the couples who have had to go through a miscarriage: be there for each other, understand you may not deal with traumatic things the same, and the best you can do is be there for your significant other. (A very very huge thank you to my ex boyfriend for being there for me and for us during that hard period in our lives, you were my rock when I needed you. For that I can never repay you.)
• To the ladies who had to go through it alone: know you are strong enough to get through it. Know you will always be loved and know you will find someone who loves you for every part of your past.
• To the single moms and dads & to the couples who have children: hug your babies a little tighter tonight for me, what a gift you were blessed with. Be the best parents you can be and show unconditional love.
• & to everyone who has supported me through that time and who still continue to support my life decisions: I am not who I am today, without you."
And Curtis left this message for Bri in the comments below:

As was the case when we saw Ethan tell about that life-changing night when he nearly got paralyzed and made a miraculous recovery to being at 100% again, you'll realize that not everything on Are You The One? is about great people, pretty faces and everything that goes on in the house in the quest for love. As is the case with The Real World, Teen Mom and recently on Virgin Territory among others, some of these MTV castmates have backstories that viewers can instantly relate to and is something that's makes them more personal than just people we watch on TV. And in the case of AYTO, it brings a sense of perspective to an otherwise drama-filled house and dating show.
On Wednesday - two days after this episode aired, it was National Infant & Pregnancy Loss Appreciation Day, so it feels that the timing is appropriate to bring this all into focus. And it's with that in mind that Bri also announced plans to make custom friendship bracelets with the "LeFreakArmy" hashtag and initials on it, with a third of the proceeds from each $3 sale going to miscarriage & child-care centers throughout the country.
Bri, I've gained great respect for you in how you had to handle the most unfortunate event you've experienced in your life and coming back from that even stronger. You used this wide platform to open up and tell this story that many can relate to, and now that you're planning to do your part to help those in need is something that I gotta say thank you for doing this. And I know that when you finally get the opportunity to hold that child in your hands, you'll be the best mom you can be.
And to Curtis, much respect to you also for showing great dignity and class in recognizing this situation with the compassion and sensitivity that came with it. You two are my Winners of the Night for this week, and much respect to you both, let's hope you two become perfect match #1. And stay strong Bri.
Another One is Taken...
Now to brighter news, and in the past year or so, we've seen a number of members of Team MTV get engaged and settle into a world outside of the TV cameras. Of course, there's Ethan & Amber, but there's also several in the Real World & Challenge community who are now heading into the real Real World. Challenge veteran Paula retired to both a married life and raising a new baby, while very soon Mike from RW Back to Vegas will tie the knot, and there's others too many to mention here.
As we told you during our Challenge Free Agents coverage back in April, just after he was the first one eliminated from Uruguay, Chet from RW Brooklyn proposed to his girlfriend Danielle and got engaged. And in August, Mr. Bow Tie Guy and Danielle become man & wife. All of his Brooklyn castmates were in Salt Lake City to see this life-changing event for Mr. Cannon and Ms. Paxton, with the exception of one person who, as we would like to say around here, was on a summer vacation.
That one person is fellow roommate Sarah. And over the weekend, at the Magic Castle Hotel and Academy of Magical Arts in Hollywood, she got to say yes to the proposal question posed by boyfriend Landon Patterson while they were at a table in the room, with some of their friends being witness to it. Sarah began her journey on Real World Brooklyn five years ago as that tattooed California girl who had ambitions on doing art, all the while helping to benefit foundations to help those who were victims of sexual abuse, including her. After that stay at Red Hook, she would then go on to do seven straight Challenges (she took the last one, Free Agents, off to go to college) and, as us MTV fans know, Sarah's had to endure a lot of bad luck with partners who haven't performed as much as she has. Whether she can finally get the monkey off her back and win her first Challenge, we'll have to see about that down the road. But something that can match winning that jackpot is something that can change your life, as in spending the rest of your life with the significant other that you love so much. So Sarah, much congrats to you and Landon. All the best to both of you as you both embark on this new journey together. You both have a great future ahead, as will the rest of Team Brooklyn.

- By popular demand, AfterBuzz TV (www.afterbuzztv.com), who already does an incredible job covering The Real World and Challenge with their after shows, has added AYTO this fall, and will be covering season 2 there. This week, Pratt was the first castmate to join hosts Lem Gonsalves and Kendra Sommers as they break down the season through two episodes.
- Also follow my colleague Andrew Kirk (@CSUAKirk) as he live tweets the episodes with me and discuss the show on both BlogTalkRadio.com and on Google+. He's had difficulty trying to get castmates on for interviews so far, but once he gets to do his first one this season, it will be a must-listen, just as he's done in past seasons.
