It's the second weekend of December, and welcome to week 2 of The Challenge: Bloodlines on DCBLOG, and to this DC SocialPulse diary. This is the first of what will be several posts to be posted here in the next week, with a dedicated edition of ExtraTime and more of the Reality Debrief year-in-review to come your way as the holidays approach.
Last week, the group of this season's competitors and their bloodlines arrived in Bodrum, Turkey with no idea of what they were getting into. At the opening bell, we saw Tony hook up with Christina and got into words with both Nicole and his brother Shane, which added to his resume of bad behavior and ended his relationship with Madison. We also saw plenty of other hookups between both the original competitors and some of their bloodlines, and we had a wet opening mission & tough elimination battle.
This week, we go into Fear Factor mode as players must face their fears head-on when bugs and snakes get a bit too close for comfort. After an impressive statement win in the first Pit elimination, one team begins to feel the pressure when personal attacks on one another lead to an emotional meltdown. And yet another supposed hook-up leads the eventual power team to make a bold move and would see it come back to haunt them. And that is all ahead of a move that will potentially change everything.
We'll have all the interaction from this week's Challenge Wednesday, the aftermath and the lead-up. Why did I switch up the order? We'll be meeting the new Challenge baby that was born last weekend, plus three members from Team Ohana, aka the AYTO Season 3 cast, reunite in Hawaii. And then on DC ExtraTime, we'll remember a member of Team MTV outside of the Trifecta whose life was taken too soon last weekend.

REMEMBERING CHRIS CARNEY

Last Friday, a member of that TwentyFourSeven cast and former frontman of rock band The Prom Kings, Chris Carney, was killed in a one-car crash in Hot Springs, AR - 30 miles southwest of Little Rock, for which his mom is the city's mayor. The town's local government page on Facebook confirmed the news, which offered condolences to Mayor Ruth Carney and her family. There was also a second victim of the crash, who was identified as Ezekial "Zeke" Blanton, a friend of Carney's and designer of the brother's clothing line.
The faithful Carney was husband of Disney Channel alum & radio host Tiffany Thornton (of Sonny with a Chance fame), who had just celebrated their 4th wedding anniversary just a few weeks back. The couple had two kids with the actress & radio host at the time of that tragic accident, which took his life at the age of 35. And this was the second death that his widow would endure in the span of only three days, after a friend of hers had also tragically passed earlier in the week.
Chris and his entrepreneur brother Greg Carney were part of that 24-7 cast along with Frankie, budding actor/filmmaker Ty Hodges, musician & cartoon voice Greg Cipes, record producer Greg Whitman and actor Matt Baker. The MTV alums shared their memories of Chris on Instagram last weekend.

I was just this super awkward child actor who was looking for real friends. As we walked in, Chris immediately showed me an example of what brotherhood looked like. It was not about anything I could offer or what I did, it was all about who I was as a human being. He exampled this love to everyone he came in contact with. As we became a group of brothers living in LA helping each other's dreams come true and building a unit that was unbreakable. We were a real #Squad. From church, to music studios, film sets, thouse bbq's, hookah on boring week day nights---this was friendship. Chris was a major piece in that. As I heard this news yesterday, I felt stuck. My heart is broken by the tragedy of what has happened to our promKing and his other brother @zekeblanton. I can not find the words to express my feelings as I share condolences because we lost someone who was dear to us who encouraged everyone around him to be the best! No matter what Hollywood circle we were in, it didn't matter. Real recognized real. I send my love, prayers to his beautiful family his wife @tiffthornton and his baby boys and The whole Carney Family and Zekes Family. Zeke you were a true definition of a friend to Chris. It's a hard time. This tragedy wakes me up to not get caught up in the "egos" of the world. We must love each other, no need to hold onto grudges as we should always live in a place of forgiveness and gratitude because we are blessed with this Life that God has given us! I love you brother @chrisgcarney 🙏 You'll always be our #PromKing"
