The entry of Cara Maria's boyfriend Abram and brother Michael have turned the game into a whole new season as their entry has caused more than a ripple effect on the game. Last week, we had two episodes that saw a betrayal, two showdowns between veteran & rookie guys and two veteran girls, and Double Dare comes to Challenge world.
We've got a lot to bring you on another extended edition of our Things to Know recap with key moments from Episodes 5 & 6, plus Winners of the Night as well. And how did you, the fans, react to last week's events? A DC SocialPulse Extra will have you covered. Join In after the jump.
EIGHT THINGS TO KNOW
> Trivia Aftermath
We kick off our Double Shot with Episode 5 and when we left on Christmas Eve Eve, a trivia contest saw Team Red win again, and had just seen three teams go out (two by injury) and another in Abram & Mike enter. After the teams' brains were tested, the teams headed into the deliberation room with a clear house divide between the veterans and rookies, especially the guys. At first, Mike decides to volunteer himself for Team Blue after their loss, and though Nany feels it's a nice gesture his team decides otherwise, which leads us to...
> A Gauntlet Showdown
Another round of negotiations sees talk split among Aneesa wanting to side with the vets and the rookie guys, but instead it settles among the rookie guys alliance of Mitch, Cory, Raphy and Dario, which see the AYTO bad boy's twin bring put in. Aneesa instantly becomes an outcast to her rookie hookup Cory, which would be the beginning of an interesting night for her. The vets' plan rolls along as Team Red votes Mitch in to face Raphy.
That's where the attention turns from votes to tempers as Dario fires low blows to Nany and Nicole, and the vet firing back with repeated calls to "Know your role." Him responding with "The only role you know is on Johnny's lap," then leads to a fight among Bananas, Nany and the Boston twins as Abe suggests, "Hit each other. Everyone get out of the way -- just hit each other."

There, Aneesa gets made at KellyAnne for reasons that are sketchy and then throws a drink in her face. They then slur and get messy as both are in one another's faces, only for this fight to go down the route of what happened earlier at the patio with the twins. It's after Aneesa tells her that she's several years older than her that KellyAnne stoops low and puts racism into the mix. We won't post her comment here with respect to those reading, but the house breaks down once word of Kel's racist remarks spreads. Rianna would become devastated on Aneesa's behalf, while Mitch becomes big brother to Kelly where she tells him "I'm a fan favorite." It all unravels for the both of them.
> Pit #1: Raphy vs. Mitch
After the drama of that club night, the attention turns, rightfully so, back to the competition and the first of TWO(!) Pit eliminations. Raphy and Mitch square off in an elaborate and more intense game of tug-of-war called "My Way or the Highway" (no doubt Fred Durst is excited for that name) with a giant chain being attached to their chests. In this friendly competition between two friends being put in by the vets, the game is tense. And after the new Cal grad loses his lead in this test of strength, it seems with all our hearts that Raphy would win this game that fit hand-in-glove with him given his stronger weight. It was there that Dario believes that his twin has knocked off the touted RW 29 rookie as he pushes Raphy off the runway area where he's competing. This turns out to be a premature celebration as Mitch would find the chance to cash in on that confusion, dug into his heels, gained all momentum and yanked Raphy over the line to give him the official win. Quite a battle.
> Abe's Hate
The story of hour two of the Double Shot and episode six (hard to think the season has rolled by this fast) starts off with Abram, who has seem to become more of the house voice since he rolled into Turkey. The EW recap has him with "the best edit of his Challenge career," and it's very clear that he has a strong hatred of Bananas in very much the same way that Cara Maria doesn't like those who run the game all the time on these Challenges like the 5-time champ. But coming in, he doesn't know that Cara has been cheating on him after her session with Thomas, but it appears he's that loyal boyfriend who wants Cara to get her first Challenge win. Obviously it may possibly change (and if a preview of tonight's After Show is an indication), but for the time being it's comforting for her to have him here. And when this episode kicks off, he has a good foreshadow that no one should trust Bananas. There was no idea that he would be spot-on.
> Double Dare Challenge
The night's sole mission sees the teams being assigned with the task of carrying balls from one side of the beach to the other, and only by using boards being attached to their helmets. As one of my followers would list below in the Fan's View 'Pulse Extra, this has a Double Dare feel to it and that user wondered where Marc Summers was. The dominance of the Red Team just continues as they would win again. But it's what happened next that defined this hour.
> The Vote, and a Woman Scorned
At deliberations for who in the blue team would go in, KellyAnne would make things easier in having only one vote when she volunteers herself in by acclimation. That leaves only three female contenders left on this girls elimination day: Jenna, Aneesa and Nany. All thoughts were that Jenna would go in yet again, all considering that Bananas has the support of Aneesa and Nany here. Another option would be for Aneesa to go in to settle her battle with KellyAnne in the Pit.
At deliberation, Abram gets first dibs and suggests Nany, and everyone follows his lead as Bananas doesn't try to stand up for his Exes 2 partner, right in front of Nicole. And when the vote comes along, Bananas is the first person to vote, and decides to go against the grain and send Nany into the Pit. Yes, he becomes the most-hated man in Challenge world once again, doing the same exact thing Sarah did to him when we last him on the show all the way back in springtime.
And it's what happens afterwards that got everyone talking. Nicole tells Jamie that Bananas is protecting his relationship with girlfriend Hannah Teter back home, and it's a conversation he has with Nany that was caught on a hot mic that, with courtesy of the EW wrap, reads below...
▪ Bananas: “This goes beyond this game. It does. When I go home and this episode comes out… Listen to me! And [my girlfriend] Hannah watches it…and I’m the only person that doesn’t say your f—ing name? Your feelings are hurt; I totally understand that, and I’m f—ing sorry. I don’t want this to become like a story line and a thing.”
▪ Nany: “There’s no story line. Don’t worry, Johnny.”
▪ Bananas: “Yes, there is!”
▪ Nany: “You’re not gonna be staying at home with Hannah and her getting pissed off at you.”

And knowing how the Vegas girl was dejected by Bananas' blindside and having a lack of motivation, it's no surprise that KellyAnne would win this battle, albeit this was a little closer than people thought. After that win, Bananas would be at the center of the talk again as he turns his attention to breaking up the Abe/Cara/Thomas alliance. Should be a fun second half ahead.

Well, that's all for the DC WRAP for Episodes 5 & 6 of The Challenge Bloodlines. We were going to bring you an ExtraTime on here on how one section of Team MTV spent their New Year's, but due to time (and me nursing a headache I got over New Year's Weekend) that will be carried over into a special 'Pulse Extra that will come your way before the Episode 7 'Pulse coming up on the weekend.
Episodes 5 & 6 did give some webcast hosts and bloggers I know something to discuss on their sites and shows, and here's where you can find them:
● In the past few days beginning on New Year's Weekend, Ashley Weitzel-Hill (@AshleyWeitzel) has done the first two MTV Trifecta cast interviews of the year, and in fact are the first two exit interview webcasts for two of the Bloodlines. On Saturday, Ashley chatted up with Candice on her controversial exit from Bloodlines after the injured toe that saw her and Leroy get the boot. And just on Tuesday, Shane joined Ashley to discuss the eventful run of him & Tony on this Challenge and everything you wanted to know from the young brother. Check that both of those shows on Google+ on YouTube, and stay tuned there for possible more chats coming up this year as well.
● Last week's events offered Brian Cohen (@BusDriversRoute) and Ali Lasher (@LashsTweets) with plenty to discuss on the MTV RHAP on Rob Has A Podcast. The best podcast duo in the business (at least among those based in New York) got to discuss those eventful two hours, which you can listen here, and how the events may impact the season's second half. ● Just today - as this is being posted on Challenge Wednesday, January 6, our favorite video recap host, Ace Nichols (@AceNichols33), has just posted her recap for Episode 5 on her YouTube hub. Again due to the holidays and technical difficulties, her recap was delayed but do check it out there, along with the question of who does her intro.
