The newest season of the social dating experiment is now underway - at least if you're in the U.S., as the show is doing it big yet again down in the Dominican Republic. This time around, things are a bit different: 11 girls and 11 guys now call the humble abode home, meaning if they want to win the $1 million, they'll have to do one better than normal to get the money. Of course, it will now take a lot of effort -- literally -- by this new group to singles to get to the magic number of 11.
This week, the fight for love and money begins as the singles move in and right off the bat, couples begin to form as they try to figure out who they're matched up with. As they find out that the house has two more people than normal living in their quarters, they find out of two additional twists that may wrench their plans to try and reach their goal within 10 tries. And who will take on those roles of being the first girl to shed some tears, and become the ladies man of the house?

So after what we saw up in Seattle, a good start to Season 5 of this love fest in the Caribbean. All the talk is about the twists: along with 11 being the new magic number, there's the trade-in offer before any Truth Booth, and the blackout penalty upped to half of the jackpot if that arises. We saw Michael become the first to take on status of "ladies man" in the house and Gianna the first to burst into tears. And the cast begins their journey towards the cast the same way the first three casts did: a truth booth non-match and only two beams, but they can be lucky that they got beams with Gianna ruining those best laid plans. TEAM MTV GOES TO CES
When you travel to Las Vegas as I have regularly for ten years now, you'll notice that when you walk on the Strip, the signs inside the hotels and casinos tell you of all of the amenities they offer aside from gambling. There's the promenades of shops like Fashion Show Mall and The Forum Shops at Caesars, all of those fabulous upscale restaurants in a town once known for all-you-can-eat buffets, and of course those relaxing pools and energetic nightclubs. And there's also ample room in this town of nearly 150,000 hotel & motel rooms for one important purpose.
The Las Vegas Convention & Visitors' Authority estimates that of the 43 million people who travel to Sin City each year, over 5 million of them fly there not necessarily for pleasure but more for business. Over 22,000 conventions, meetings and trade shows take place in Vegas annually, ranging from major gatherings that bring $7.5 billion in tourism revenue to smaller-scale events for smaller organizations. Nearly 11 million square feet of meeting, exhibit and trade show space is available in America's fastest growing metropolis -- easily more than any other city in North America.
Last week, the biggest one of all took place in one of the city's three major gathering places for these shindigs: the Las Vegas Convention Center located off the Strip. Each year in early January, those who love and follow technology turn their eyes to Vegas for the Consumer Electronics Show, or CES for short. Over 3,600 corporations and companies, big and small, come to the LVCC's nearly 2 million square feet of meeting space to introduce and pimp up their newest toys of the trade to the public and to the 175,000 attendees to this Super Bowl of electronics, taking place just after the adrenaline rush of the holiday shopping season. Fittingly enough, cold, rain and snow greeted visitors in this desert oasis known for the scorching summer heat.
The key stories to emerge out of CES 2017 -- the event's 50th anniversary edition -- included more of a push to help advance a technology that's been around for many years but is now all but set for the big time in Virtual Reality. During this season of major car shows, auto manufacturers also came to Vegas to unveil new electronics for that ultimate 4-wheel toy that's a lifeline to all of us. Major PC vendors helped reaffirm the importance of laptops to this tech-savvy generation, while wearable tech, robots and thin & bright TV's also amazed visitors to the event that marks the coming out party for many of technology's biggest trends. This event was so big, it gave reason for TNT's Inside the NBA and EJ, Kenny, Charles and Shaq to do that week's show from the event.

Also in town that week was Dario, who also visited the CES, met up with fellow Challenger Leroy and one night when he and Brandon were at the South Point hotel (down the street from the Strip), Dario snapped a pic of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. playing poker, just as rumors of a prize fight against UFC megastar Conor McGregor has been surfacing in recent days. And for a girl who has just moved to Las Vegas from San Francisco to further her modeling resume - and as we prepare to enjoy her presence again very soon, Ashley got to work on some of the events associated with various companies doing business during the biggest event in technology. Her Snap of the Vegas skyline is located above, where the weather actually improved over that weekend.
Once a quaint gathering which opened in 1967 in New York and introduced pocket radios, that first event was anything but the big time event is is now. CES has helped introduce things that are now commonplace today in our digital world: HD and 4K TV's, DVD players & Blu-Ray's, the iPhone, video game systems, drones, VR... the list goes on. This was where Bill Gates stepped away from Microsoft, where celebrities get to unveil the next best thing to everyone, and where thousands stare in awe of the things that have now become staples of everyday life. You never know what the future will bring, but you can count on this annual event to bring new technologies to life.
