Hi, hello, what's up and welcome to the weekend, which also means it's time to take our weekly ride through the MTV Trifecta on DCBLOG. Ahead, betrayals, lies and challenges galore as we cover the premiere of The Challenge Invasion and Episode 5 of Are You The One?, among other things planned for you in these next few days. But first...

This past week saw not only the lead up to the new season of the fifth major pro sport - which is the basis for this bonus post, but also the finale of the latest season of the biggest sport in this country. Super Bowl LI saw a comeback for the ages last Sunday, and we'll be featuring how Team MTV saw the epic both in the tweets below, and then afterwards on ExtraTime.

SUPER BOWL LI - THROUGH THE TRIFECTA'S EYES

Last weekend, of course, was Super Bowl LI in Houston and most NFL fans were able to witness, for the first time in their lifetimes, an NFL championship game go into overtime. It was the second time since December 28, 1958 that the championship of pro football has taken beyond 60 minutes to settle the score, when the Baltimore Colts' Alan Ameche took the ball from Johnny Unitas, walked into the end zone at the bullpen end of old Yankee Stadium, and gave them the title over the Pat Summerall, Frank Gifford, future coach Vince Lombardi and the New York Giants, 23-17 in sudden death overtime.
   Of course, we all witnessed a tale of two halves: the Atlanta Falcons scoring 21 first half points and going out to a 28-3 lead halfway through the third quarter, and most thought that the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium would have a bigger grand opening come autumn. But given that the New England Patriots have been the dynasty of this league so far this century, it would've been easy to say that their time had gone by. And obviously, there was the Deflate-Gate controversy that cost quarterback Tom Brady the first four games of this season, which saw backup QB Jimmy Garoppolo, an Eastern Illinois alum and who went to high school with Theo of this Invasion season, start in his place and put commissioner Roger Goddell under the microscope.
   Up until last Sunday, the largest deficit a team had overcome to win a Super Bowl was 10 points, which was the same deficit the Patriots were in the last time they made it to Super Sunday versus the Seattle Seahawks at Super Bowl XLIX two years ago. For this insurance, the Patriots spotted the defense of the Falcons were not equipped to handle the pressures of these clutch situations, and the team had cut into what seemed to be an insurmountable lead. We also saw clutch catches and plays which are always magnified when the world is watching the largest single day sports spectacular on earth, as well as an awesome halftime show by Lady Gaga.

   James White rose to the occasion in scoring two 2nd half touchdowns and converting a 2-point conversion, en route to the Patriots tying the game in the last minute to knot the score up at 28-28. Then, in the first ever Super Bowl overtime and third American sports championship to go beyond its scheduled limit following game 7 of the World Series and the MLS Cup, White did it again by diving into the end zone barely to give the Patriots their fifth Super Bowl title. Or course, all of them have been at the helm of Tom Brady at QB and Bill Belichick as head coach - the first duo to win as many titles at their respective positions.

For that last bit we included in this 'Pulse Extra, we brought you how Team MTV saw the Super Bowl and the ensuing parade on Tuesday in Boston for the Patriots - the tenth time the City of Champions has had a victory parade in the streets in the past fifteen years.
