When we left Columbia last week, the house was left shook by the latest twist to rock a game that's already had its share of big twists when those in the main house were given a taste of their own karma. That came courtesy of eight players who they thought were eliminated but instead heeded their time in the Redemption House with intent on getting a dose of revenge and regain their spot in the game. Episode 5 focused entirely on the players wanting another shot, and in the end Jenna took the win as many expected for the girls, but in a total surprise, the one who won Champs vs. Pros was ousted in the final men's battle by Tony.
This week, the focus shifts back to the entire field still left in the game, and in a beach where pirates once searched for treasure, the players go into their first paired challenge of this season as they try to find some pirates' booty. If you don't know what that means in an older sense, the word "booty" is essentially treasure, but obtained by ways of criminal activity, most particularly plundering or pillaging, which mean stealing or by violence. But it's what happens off of the field and in the clubs that garners a lot of reaction: a night of rap battles then turns into silence as one makes a dirty insult crosses the line and may cause one of this game's strongest players to turn on them.
Ahead of us here, all the action, reaction and interaction from this week's Challenge and the week with Team MTV, including plenty of those delicious Twitter beefs, and a startling revaluation from one of this week's main subjects. And after the diary on ExtraTime, in the shadow of eclipse mania that took place back on Monday, we'll look at how two members of Team MTV got a chance to witness a once in a generation spectacle from the skies above.

So, three champs - Cara Maria, CT and Veronica, along with Nelson, win the week's challenge by the beach, and Ammo who wins everyone's hearts after being able to hang tough with Jordan in the Presidio. But, it's the man who won in elimination who is again finding himself in hot water after a rap battle causes drama on the bus. We'll explain that more on him on the WRAP coming up later, but for now let's digress for a moment to some stars...

THE GREAT AMERICAN ECLIPSE...

In what has certainly been a summer to remember in many retrospects, on Monday there was finally a reason for people in this country to get together for one common purpose that's also positive and doesn't divide them in one way, and that is doing some sightseeing of the skies above. For the first time in generations, the United States mainland became eyewitnesses to a total solar eclipse, but not just any occasion of the Moon passing by the Earth and Sun.
It was the Great American Eclipse, as those from coast to coast saw this unique event and blocking all direct sunlight in various places across the country, turning a hot summer afternoon into night skies around lunchtime. This was the first time since June 1918, 99 years ago, that a total solar eclipse had taken place across the entire U.S., and the first time since February 1979 that anyone in the mainland had seen this unique event. It was expected by many to become one of the most photographed events in this generation, and the first time it has taken place in this social media-driven, digital age.
The major news networks took a break from seemingly endless coverage of everything related to the President to cover the eclipse, while American TV's distinguished science series, NOVA on PBS, aired a same-day special on this landmark event. And for those who did not want to risk getting their eyes hurt by the sun's rays, special eclipse glasses sold like hot cakes everywhere, and it was no surprise that this dominated traffic - both on social media and on the roadways leading to and from the places where viewing parties were held for this summer spectacle of the skies.
For a guy who found himself in love on the first Are You The One? season and has become so big a fanatic of Teen Wolf and Game of Thrones that he happens to host now online after shows for both of them each Sunday night, the Eclipse gave alum Ryan Malaty reason to travel up to one of the cities that was in the eclipse's direct path of totality up in Wyoming. He is a science enthusiast himself after working with NASA shortly after that epic first season, and lived through this experience of seeing an eclipse before five years ago when he was living in Colorado.
Ryan drove up to one of America's greatest frontiers to join the approximately 1 million people who flocked to the Casper, WY area and a farm field in the nearby town of Glendo to become part of scientific history and rekindle that joy of amazement and awe that comes with seeing an eclipse. And on social media, he enabled his fellow SnapChat followers to share in this communal experience, and then shared the following image below on Twitter @RyanMalaty.

And to the west in Oregon, another MTV alum of years gone by also was in the path. Of course, we all know that Fresh Meat II gave us Cara Maria, Laurel, Theresa, Gulag master Brandon, Mandi and local girl Carley, but it also gave us unique Oregonian Luke Wolfe, who epitomizes what it's like to be in the Pacific Northwest: laid back, hippie, a love affair of being naked and who loves that adrenaline rush of going snowboarding. He was paired with all-time Queen Evelyn on that season in Vancouver but fell short of the final, and we also saw him on Cutthroat as well.
Luke used his passion for photography to capture this once in a blue moon event, and below on Instagram he captured that moment when both sun and moon combined for that magic glow.

With the support of at least one Challenger who met him at his 40th birthday soirée on Oscars weekend, the former is going for the unprecedented 50-0, while the ladder looks to to turn fight sports history upside down and turn Sin City into a Irish paradise.
