It's the first day of October, and welcome back to DCBLOG's Inside the MTV Trifecta and the second of this week's Pulse doubleheader. Yesterday, we brought you Week 11 of The Challenge XXX: Dirty 30 as Nelson decided to deal with the wrong person and his drunken behavior got him sent home. Now, we turn to the show where he got his start: Are You The One?, and Week 2 of Season 6 down in New Orleans.
   Last week saw the start of a new season of finding love and winning money with 22 of your new besties and frenemies. There, we saw plenty of drama and hookups: Jersey guy Keith and West Virginian Alexis getting it on inside the Boom Boom Room, followed by the house's second hookup in Southerner Michael and Keyana, and Malcolm and Diandra kissing inside the shower as he finds himself as the first in the house to become a player in having to also contend with Audrey and Nurys.
   After not finding love at first sight in the Truth Booth, this week the cast gets their first chance to face the lights as they will join Terrence J. for the season's first Matchup. The Malcolm sweepstakes continues as the girls battle for his attention, and his player ways cause some trouble when he find himself in that always dreaded love triangle. Another hookup couple then try to break each other's hearts by dating other people, and a Latino & a Texan emerge as the house's newest couple.

All the action, reaction and interaction from Week 2 is ahead, which includes AYTO alumni voicing their opinions of the feud between them and the newbies. After the Pulse, two ExtraTime Follow-Ups: first, the girl blamed for what happened last season gets the chance to respond to those who have been getting on her after the move that cost her cast the cash, and the man who made a splash earlier this year on MTV returns to reality competition as well as another reality vet.

Lights up, a man in a threesome, hookups on Bourbon, and catching up with two members of Team MTV... It's all coming up on the 'Pulse of Are You The One?.

So, we saw this season's first matchup and this cast begin the same way Season 4 did, notching three beams which is a good start, and in this grand scheme of things, getting that many is like getting 4-5 at this stage. We also saw the triangle of Malcolm, Diandra and Nurys play out as his pick of Diandra at the matchup spurred some talk with her and Nurys as my friend Andrew thinks they are becoming the Diki of this season. And we also saw Keith and Alexis decide to go for other people in the house, and Anthony and Geles make a connection that's brought them to the Truth Booth.

   Now, if you're not familiar with the policy we have in place when covering The Challenge: should an episode end without resolution (in this case, a complete episode with a proper formula with a challenge, date, truth booth and matchup), then the episode recap that we usually do on our WRAP posts will be tabled over to the posts covering the following week's episodes. SEASON 5's SHANNON SPEAKS OUT

As we have now had our first glimpse of it at midway through this week's episode, the Match-Up Ceremony is always the most intense part of every episode of Are You The One? - if not tied for that room of lasers known as the Truth Booth. It's in this outdoor setting where hopes and dreams or $1 million live or die in light beams being lit into the night sky. And it's what happened in the last one before this that offers the context for this Follow-Up to something that happened on Season 5.

Philippines native and L.A. resident Shannon came to the Dominican Republic intent on changing around her dating habits, which after her last serious relationship saw her question whether love existed. A key story in the Caribbean was her relationship with Tyler, which saw them stay together for much of the season, one that was marked by other couples staying together long after they had not been proven to be perfect matches.
   The most-talked about moment as far as the game is concerned came in Week 9 when the girls had their pick, and faced with having to go for strategy and the house vs. her heart, she opted to choose Tyler over her intended house pick. And although the cast got to nine of the eleven beams they needed to win, her choosing Tyler proved to be the difference and the week after, their last ditch effort came up just short. Then, Shannon and Tyler were together for some time, but then had a very bad breakup with him.
   Back in June -- and three months after the season finale - and having to put up with so much hate being sent her way for being the one who let the cast lose, Shannon took to Twitter to respond to those haters who got on her at the end of that season, and then what happened when the romance she thought was perfect was anything but and then some. Originally posted as a screen-cap of something she wrote on her Notes app on her mobile, below is her response in rich text form.

"I just saw everything being commented on Twitter and I'm completely at lost with words. All I have to say is that my heart is too big and it gave away too many chances to someone who did not deserve it. I am not perfect and I will never claim to make the relationship I was in perfect. It had its ups and downs, hardships, love, laughter, and tears. As everyone saw on the show, I was very naive and truly wanted love out of it. Unfortunately, I made a foolish decision that ultimately cost the loss and I'll continue to forever take the blame. It made my relationship very difficult and it caused a lot of problems, but I always thought it would get better. i forgave after I was lied to, manipulated, embarrassed and betrayed and I accepted all of it. I took the harsh words, the constant ignoring, and the shady excuses and I brushed it aside. I lost my self respect, forgot my worth, and accepted the love I knew I did not deserve. Majority of people would agree that I gave a lot of affection and love and maybe a little crazy, but I never let it affect me. I always believed that love conquers all. But for all you ladies that have ever been afraid to stand up for yourself or to call someone out for their wrongdoings, don't. Don't be afraid to walk away from anything that doesn't make you happy. I don't regret loving someone as much as I did, but it's a lesson learned. Not everyone will be ready for the love you are ready to give them."

Since what happened that chaotic March night and then dealing with that breakup, Shannon has stayed strong and has even gained much support after airing things out on Twitter and a final fight with Tyler before he cut ties with her. But she's not alone in dealing with AYTO heartbreak, and just recently fellow Season 5 castmate Carolina, who had her heart broken by Hayden on Second Chances earlier this year, moved in with her in SoCal. They, along with another alum, this past week had the chance to help pass the baton to some of the hottest guys from Season 6 and we'll share with you more of their summit on here next week.

TEAM THRIVE AND A BIG BROTHER GET SEQUESTERED

And if you happen to be up for watching other reality competition series besides those we cover in the Trifecta, the show we spotlighted in 90's House last week and another in Survivor which debuted this past week, this last bit will be of your interest. A few years ago, an online reality game show called Sequester debuted, where 12 contestants compete over a week and they don't have to move into the same house together: all of them compete in the comfort of their own homes. But the game is fairly similar: they compete in online challenges, then the public votes on who stays and who goes as well as on every facet of the game such as choosing the cast and the twists that go along with them.
   Last year, Jay from Real World Ex-Plosion who infamously flamed out in the final of Battle of the Exes 2 with Jenna, had a second chance to compete on a reality game show when he was on the 5th season of Sequester, and also was invited to be on the All-Stars season of that show. Now, Jay has some company in the MTV world as Cody from Stranded with a Million Dollars is now on the newly premiered eighth season of Sequester which debuted last night. If you don't know the story about him, then he was that Army Ranger who came to Fiji, persisted through 40 days in that island jungle and earned $125,000 for his efforts. But he's not the reality alum on this season of Sequester.
   Reality fans first saw Tennessee native Judd Daugherty on the 15th season of Big Brother in 2013, where the property appraiser who described himself as funny and unpredictable got a chance to be on CBS' summer series in fulfilling an ambition to be on that show after being a big fan from almost the beginning. With a strong social game and good country boy looks and charm, fans dubbed him "Judd the Stud," and established friendships with some of his BB roommates. He was part of the majority, then smaller, alliances in the house, won Head of Household early on, then a Power of Veto before he got evicted midway through the season. Then, Judd reentered the house by way of one of those twists and made it to the second to last week in the house, finishing 5th when he was finally eliminated for good.
   This past weekend, Season 9 of Sequestered began and Cody and Judd are among the expanded field of 16 players who begin the game and will play down to the final few who will then go for the winner's prize, which you can check out at SequesterAccess.com and nightly on YouTube.
