Hey there folks, it's a Thursday and the weekend is almost here. But our end of the week has is here - but not any week, it's #DCVegas Week. And it's because of tomorrow's trip I'm taking to Las Vegas that, this week, the meat of DCBLOG's MTV Reality posts are being posted earlier than usual here, beginning with Week 6 of The Challenge: Final Reckoning.
   Last week in South Africa, a testy and terrifying challenge put everyone on edge over the sea, as the teams had to make their way across several pieces of meat together from one end to another and back, and saw many a team go down... except for Brad & Kyle, who made it two straight challenge wins. It also doubled as a second Purge, and it was what happened with the duo who failed miserably that stole the headlines: CT and Veronica didn't clear a single piece, leading them to Redemption and leading him over the edge.
   And even after what took place weeks ago, the events of what happened in the first Redemption challenge and Paulie's claims is still on Brad's mind, and this week sees them discuss things half a world away. Meanwhile, for a ladies man from Newcastle he finds himself yet again in trouble and with our defending champ. The competitors are then put to the test on the tracks as they tackle an obstacle course aboard a moving train. But it's what happens with the ensuing vote that sparks more drama: this time with two people who have been in a lot of Twitter drama lately.

All the action, reaction and interaction from Challenge Tuesday and a little bit of the lead-up to it is ahead here, as this week's posts are truncated a bit for time - usually more of that build-up to Tuesday and its Wednesday aftermath is shown here. And after the diary, a Follow-Up on a story from earlier this year involving the most unlikeliest of Real World fathers... and some tragic news on that too.

So, after winning that first purge challenge to begin this season, Zach & Amanda temporarily put aside bad blood to win this week's challenge and won't have to worry about getting put in for next week's early elimination battle. We also saw Bananas & Tony, Angela & Faith and Joss & Sylvia again put up good efforts in what was a very tough challenge for the rest of the field. All non-competitive drama centered around Shane & Da'Vonne getting into it, and there was the rumors that went around with Kyle & Faith getting into bed, continuing his ways with girls over the years on MTV series and her just after the affair with Jax Taylor that made headlines on Vanderpump Rules.
   Okay, so a lot of fans have been mumbling about what's been going on with drama being more of the focus here during this trilogy... but in what seems to be an unpopular opinion of sorts I tend of not mind it as much as other fans, since as being someone who also watches non-competition shows outside Challenge world, it seems all tailor made for me who watches The Challenge, who got into this world by the Real World back door, and who watches not just the Shore franchise but even Siesta Key(!). But next week should be interesting... can you say, Mercenaries?

This past spring, we shone a light on one of the most infamous roommates in Real World history: Adam Royer from Back to Las Vegas, who made quite a splash in mistreating future Challenge beauty Nany, his belligerent behavior and the fact that he was kicked off both that season and the ensuing Challenge Rivals for his antics. Our story on him, however, brought into focus post-MTV life as a single dad to two kids, and he got to bring the YouTube community into what it's like to be a father by posting vlog videos that many others do so for the web.
   Unfortunately, since that story was first posted during Champs vs. Stars III, life recently took an unexpected turn and it may have changed quite considerably. Last month over the 4th of July holiday weekend, Adam and one of his two sons, Hudson, were involved in a car crash when an elderly driver failed to recognize a stop sign near their house, and both of their cars collided. Despite him being fully strapped into his car seat in the back of the vehicle, the airbag that was located by its side curtain deployed and it struck Hudson straight on the head.
   The 2-year-old son's diagnosis was serious head trauma from the impact of that airbag, and was rushed for the Children's Hospital of Orange County for emergency brain surgery, and while he released with the right side of his skull still missing - he was recently readmitted for complications from the weeks-long recovery. This past week, Adam posted an update on his GoFundMe page where after his son had recent surgeries the dad revealed that, "Unfortunately, things have not gone as planned. Please keep him in your prayers."
   That crowd-funding page launched in the past week has now raised $3,000 of its $5,000 goal since it launched earlier this week, and proceeds raised will go towards helping to foot the bill on medical and hospital expenses, as well as to help raise awareness about airbags on the side curtain potentially becoming a hazard for children in car seats. Adam added, "Hudson is a strong and brave little 2 year and 4 month old.  He has always been full of energy, love, and adventure. We appreciate all the love and support from friends, family, strangers, and the medical teams involved in his recovery."
   Our thoughts are with him and family as they go through this tough and long recovery period.
