It's the weekend before Halloween and before you go out and pick your costume and begin to stock up on that candy for the big occasion next Saturday night, I have this DC SocialPulse diary of Episode 5 of Are You The One? Three to share with you. And we've had both our tricks and treats for the cast, both during the season and most particularly this week.
Last week, it was déjà vu all over again as we saw non-matches keep staying together and putting a hurdle in the quest for the cash, despite a bounce-back from the blackout. But again, the pressure that comes with playing this game of love and money came to three girls: Britni and Hannah when they got into words at the Truth Booth, and Rashida bolting from the Match-Up when Devin picked Stacey over her. And we saw Mike get caught in the act once again by Amanda, and they lost a light at that MC and picked a wrong TB choice, creating for some uncertainty.
This week, the house finally realizes what they're doing as they lose it when their crushes are finally deciding to play this game and move on. Chuck finds himself between a rock and a hard place when the roommates see him get it on with another non-match. But Chelsey has other ideas than most of the house, as she has her sights on proving that the Gentle Giant Connor is her match...is she right? Plus, we have a most gross challenge to contend with, along with a black and white party as well.
We'll have all the interaction from Episode 5 and its lead-up and the aftermath. Included there is the joy Team MTV got to enjoy when Sabrina the Teenage Witch became their latest follower, some of the girls reunite in L.A. and reaction to last weekend's Michigan St./Michigan tilt which was of huge interest to both an MTV host and a Real World alum who was there at the Big House. And speaking of the reality icon, on ExtraTime we'll bring you more on where the next RW season will be at, which is in a very familiar place to both MTV fans and yours truly.

Now, just as it was before the Vegas trip, we're doing just one post for Episode 5 this week for reasons that we'll be explaining below after ExtraTime. But, we do have some Winners of the Night, and this week, it's an all-African American trio. Here they are...
- CHEYENNE: It was a sure bet that we included Cheyenne in this week's WOTN list for what we saw in the Matchup. We've seen some classic speeches across the world of reality TV over the years and what we saw from a girl whose Twitter handle @CheyNotShy definitely suggests that she is anything but shy. I sensed last week on here that the turning point for this cast was gonna come sometime in the next few episodes, and this was it: the proof of Cheyenne's twitter handle, as her speech to the house on the patio being the biggest moment of this season. This came after Nelson's meltdown over her and Zak kissing, plus Hannah and Chuck hooking up as well. She reiterated the premise that brought them to Hawaii in the first place that was echoed by Jacy in Season 1: "We all are going to win together or we're going to lose together. All this fighting and negativity is going to bring the house down and we all know it." She hit it on the bulls-eye and if the group does come back and win the money, they can look back on her speech as the one that turned it all around for them.
- CHELSEY: This week's episode began with Chelsey getting into words with Kayla about her behavior towards Connor, and after that a key storyline this week focused on her getting close with Connor in hopes that they would be a match. When she was the top girl in the week's challenge, she chose him as her date with the feeling that they would be match. They were the overwhelming house choice for this week's Truth Booth, and when they arrived back at the house after that successful trip into the booth, this was the first piece of the puzzle and the first positive move in this game when they were in desperate need for good news in the quest for the cash. They turned out to be the only piece of good news this week, but this is the foundation for the Ohana to make this run at the cash.
- RASHIDA: We have seen a good deal of Rashida this season, including what we saw from her last week bolting from the Matchup after Devin picked Stacey over her and her freaking out and had to go back to the house early. This week was different, and at the challenge, she was struggling in the second stage having to bob for apples in fish chum. But against all odds, she was not able to go in and get those apples, she placed second and won her way onto the getaway date. She might not have enjoyed her date with Nelson as much, but being able to persevere to get 2nd is more than worthy of being in this week's winners list.

WINNERS OF THE NIGHT
So this week, we saw a messy challenge that added more to Rashida's eventful season so far and saw Chelsey pay that due to her. We saw Chel make the first right decision of this season when her instincts about Connor see them being put into the Truth Booth and become the season's first Perfect Match. Again, we had to deal with Chuck making love with a blonde girl who he's not matched with, once again hooking up but this time in public view. And the house got jobbed once again with no movement in the light department, but they did get a match in Chonnor to hopefully build upon.Now, just as it was before the Vegas trip, we're doing just one post for Episode 5 this week for reasons that we'll be explaining below after ExtraTime. But, we do have some Winners of the Night, and this week, it's an all-African American trio. Here they are...
- CHEYENNE: It was a sure bet that we included Cheyenne in this week's WOTN list for what we saw in the Matchup. We've seen some classic speeches across the world of reality TV over the years and what we saw from a girl whose Twitter handle @CheyNotShy definitely suggests that she is anything but shy. I sensed last week on here that the turning point for this cast was gonna come sometime in the next few episodes, and this was it: the proof of Cheyenne's twitter handle, as her speech to the house on the patio being the biggest moment of this season. This came after Nelson's meltdown over her and Zak kissing, plus Hannah and Chuck hooking up as well. She reiterated the premise that brought them to Hawaii in the first place that was echoed by Jacy in Season 1: "We all are going to win together or we're going to lose together. All this fighting and negativity is going to bring the house down and we all know it." She hit it on the bulls-eye and if the group does come back and win the money, they can look back on her speech as the one that turned it all around for them.
- CHELSEY: This week's episode began with Chelsey getting into words with Kayla about her behavior towards Connor, and after that a key storyline this week focused on her getting close with Connor in hopes that they would be a match. When she was the top girl in the week's challenge, she chose him as her date with the feeling that they would be match. They were the overwhelming house choice for this week's Truth Booth, and when they arrived back at the house after that successful trip into the booth, this was the first piece of the puzzle and the first positive move in this game when they were in desperate need for good news in the quest for the cash. They turned out to be the only piece of good news this week, but this is the foundation for the Ohana to make this run at the cash.
- RASHIDA: We have seen a good deal of Rashida this season, including what we saw from her last week bolting from the Matchup after Devin picked Stacey over her and her freaking out and had to go back to the house early. This week was different, and at the challenge, she was struggling in the second stage having to bob for apples in fish chum. But against all odds, she was not able to go in and get those apples, she placed second and won her way onto the getaway date. She might not have enjoyed her date with Nelson as much, but being able to persevere to get 2nd is more than worthy of being in this week's winners list.
In our preview, we also told you about about Kiki being longtime friends with Adam from Season 1 and Exes 2 - and posted visual proof of that in our premiere Wrap, and also of her being a one-time girlfriend with the ex of Maci from Teen Mom OG, Ryan. And now you can add Salwa from Buckwild to that list as, of course, she calls nearby West Virginia home and she got to see the Season 3 castmate at the local Hooters there in the D.C. area.

REAL WORLD: BACK TO VEGAS...AGAIN!
REAL WORLD: BACK TO VEGAS...AGAIN!
Two weeks ago while I was out in Las Vegas, DCVegas coincided with the beginning of filming of season 31 of Real World, which for the third time will take place in America's pleasure capital. The first time it came to town in 2002, it changed the game for the reality pioneer as the combination of fun & drama brought the show to a whole new level of crazy. The second time came nine years later for the 25th season, where we saw a great cast do the same as their season 12 predecessors. Now, the program returns once again to Las Vegas with .
Once again, the rumors are that there is a twist to all this, and it's very much different from what we saw in San Francisco with the exes and in Chicago with the skeletons. The word on the grapevine is that they will bring a Challenge element to the show that there will be Road Rules-like missions each week, reminiscent of what we're seeing on AYTO, The Challenge and on CBS' reality trifecta of Survivor, Big Brother and The Amazing Race.
As I always say, I am a loyal Real World fan and even with all the changes I still remain a viewer. It's also nice that they're bringing an element from the other two Trifecta shows as well as erstwhile sister show Road Rules into this icon. This will make things more interesting than usual and will again reinvigorate the Real World as we know it with a new competition element.
In the end, even with all the things they're putting in to spice things up, the focus of the show remains on the people, and they are the most important element to this show. Plus, RW has the elements of storytelling and relatable people I'm accustomed to over the years, and I'm sure they'll keep those on this season as well...it is after all a basis for this site's approach to covering the Trifecta. And with rumors abound of yet another Challenge beginning to film very soon, 2016 will sure be a great year ahead in the MTV world.
And that's the 'Pulse for Episode 5 of Are You The One? - as it's the halfway point of the season too, hard to believe. Again, we're posting only one post for this week's episode as we'll be moving the actual episode Wrap with this week's key moments for this week to a 2nd doubleheader Wrap next week because of two things. First, I'll plan to have my DC FORUM AYTO Halftime Report discussion post that, if I will do it, will be up before the new episode on Wednesday, and second I'll have a feature look at Halloween that will be posted also next week too. Obviously, I don't want to be sidetracked by doing three posts in one week, so just doing two will make the workload a little easier.

With a busy final two months of 2016 chock-full of events and shows ahead, it's a must to follow DCNOW and experience them with yours truly. - On Thursday, AfterBuzz TV (@AfterBuzzTV) had a triple dose come in to recap this week's AYTO episode. After Cheyenne joined them last week, Lem Gonsalves, Desiree Murphy and Nino llanera were joined in studio by Chelsey, Melanie and Kiki as they talked about Episode 4 from their point of view and their thoughts at the halfway point. - On Friday, Andrew Kirk (@CSUGradAKirk) returned from his webcasting hiatus to inaugurate a new platform for his Big Time Reality TV recaps on Blab.FM. There, he and Whitney from Reality Radio discussed this week's AYTO but devoted most of the show to Survivor Second Chance. Check it out here, plus his YouTube page, SpreeCast & BlogTalkRadio sites and his BTR TV blog.
- Check out the The Alliance Podcast with Devin and Zak, the first AYTO castmates to launch their own AYTO webshow. In the first three episodes of the show, they were joined by Alec, then Stacey and then Kiki as they discussed everything you want to know straight from the authority. Of course, you do not want to miss those shows and check them out at the links above, and follow Zak's YouTube channel for more during the season and some of his pre-AYTO YT videos.

- Monday: the premiere of the 20th new MTV show I'm following in social world - Follow The Rules with Ja Rule, as we see a new side of one of hip-hop's greats having to be man of the house in a house with his wife, grandma and kids.
