As you begin the new week, we begin ours with another edition of DC WRAP as we cover last week in the MTV Trifecta ahead of Episode 3 of Are You The One? coming up tonight. Last week, we saw talk of marriage two weeks in dominate the buzz in the AYTO house, but of big time drama in the Rivals III house where Camila & Tony were kicked off for violent behavior as well as an unusual mission.
We'll have an extended DC FORUM commentary on that ladder, a mini-recap of the former, plus fantasy scoring and fan reaction to last week in the Trifecta. After that, it's part 2 of DC ExtraTime's special series on the Orlando tragedy as a one-time Central Florida resident makes an emotional trip to the Pulse Nightclub that was the site of a senseless act of terrorism. All that is next.

DC FORUM
THE CAMILA & TONY FIGHT
In lieu of a usual write-up for this Challenge episode which we will cover here next week, this week we'll begin with a DC FORUM as I provide my thoughts on what happened with the fight between Tony and Camila. Once again in owing to the policy we have here, we will not use this commentary to put people on blast for their actions, but rather to provide some context from an even handed angle and let you, the readers, be the judge in that court of public opinion.
When we found out that these two people would be paired up on Rivals III, we assumed that things might happen when you put together the person we profiled here last week with a long history of memorable Challenge moments, and a guy whose behavior on the three shows we've seen him on has been, to many, questionable... obviously, the do-do has it the fan, to make it PG friendly here. Camila has become renowned for her tirades in the house - most notably her going off on Johnny Bananas on Exes, while we've seen Tony get into these situations in Chicago on his Real World, on Bloodlines and now, and most especially, on this season.
As we wrote here last week, the tension has been simmering and boiling a bit so much between these two in the past couple weeks that it would ultimately become inevitable that the breaking point would come. Obviously, it came to pass and unfortunately, it saw them get the heave-ho for once again, the policy that's been in place on The Challenge and Real World that if something happens that involves something violent, those involved are kicked off. Obviously, we just saw CeeJai get into it with Jenna not once, but two times on Go Big or Go Home in Vegas just recently; last year on the Are You The One? Season 3 finale with Mike and Amanda, and of course the infamous Nia/Averey fight in Portland - all in recent Trifecta history.
It's obviously true that these people come to The Challenge (and to the two feeder shows that form the Trifecta) for a good time and drinking and alcohol are part of that. The fight we saw here had Tony drunk and the thing that actually kept him awake was Camila who stayed awake and tripped over Vince and blamed him, and also Johnny Bananas who woke Tony up. In truth, this thing should've ended there with everyone asking each other to go to sleep, but when Tony yelled repeatedly at Camila to head to bed. And it was there that it got worse & worse and all those threats of violence took place with him kicking items in the kitchen and backing Camila into a corner as they went at it verbally, and the guys had to step in to bring that to an end but it left behind a trail of damage, and it was enough for TJ to send Camila & Tony home after the house was warned over this.

In my mind, this could all have easily been prevented had everyone just acted like adults and not kids and Camila & Tony would still be in this game...he could've come home with money for his two babies' saving funds and she could've won this for her grandma who died while she was doing this challenge. And Bananas and Vince would not be in this precarious position of also receiving hate as well for their roles in this fight too. As was noted on MTV.com when they spoke to a person from The Jed Foundation about this, anger is something that's dealt on a daily basis by so many people, and it was all that pent up anger from these past few weeks that unfortunately became the undoing for Camila & Tony. Now, had everyone has the chance to take a breather, step away from the fight, take time to think about their actions, express their thoughts in person and get help when it's necessary, then we'd have a totally different post than the one we're doing here.
We saw something similar to this happen on the finale on last season on Are You The One?, where the relationship Amanda, of this Challenge season, and her crush Mike had boiled over in a similar fashion. Unlike what happened in Mexico, it was Amanda who taunted him and hit him with a pillow, then Mike put his hands on her and threw her across the bed and ignited an eruption in their room, and he was sent to a hotel afterwards to rest; Mike ultimately decided on his own terms to leave the house citing the stress of it. For this one here, Tony put his hands on Camila during this fight, and once again, it's something that shouldn't be done of something like that and, while the AYTO couple acknowledged it afterwards, Tony also came clean of that too.
For Tony, it's been a roller coaster of a ride he has been on since he went to Chicago to film Real World Skeletons two years ago, and this is the third time in the seven months that he has had to deal with the kind of backlash he's been getting. Back in April before this Challenge began, we discussed the revaluation that emerged of Tony and his skeleton, ex-girlfriend Alyssa, announcing that she was pregnant and how social media got on him for disrespecting Madison and causing one of the two exes that made the trip to Chicago last year to have a baby. In the aftermath of what happened last Wednesday, it's a carbon copy of what happened there and after the Bloodlines premiere of a lot of social media reaction that was ignited after what we saw on the episode itself and on the after show.

Over 1,700 comments have been left on the Instagram accounts of Tony (@T_Raines), Camila (@CamilaMTV) and Madison (@madiichanning) relating to the episode, and in the case of the Skeletons couple, it is the same as it was when news of his second child became public last spring: the comments left have been directed negatively towards Tony in how he's been mistreating women and how he's not being the best person he can be to baby Harper though he's done his very best to be a co-parent, and positively towards Madison in how she kept it real to him on the after show. In case you missed it, here's their thoughts, culled from their social media accounts.
● TONY/IG @T_Raines & Twitter @T_Raines33
- on Twitter after the episode: "Raising your voice at a woman is no way to get your point across. I'm disappointed in myself and it's a lesson learned. I do wish TJ would have talked to Camila and I on the side b4 making his decision. A warning from him would have really opened our eyes. #WhatCouldHaveBeen The warning he did give out was to the other castmates who got physical. Camila and I never touched each other. Would've been nice to redeem our relationship in the house cause now we still have this lingering dislike 4 each other. Okay I'm done feeling sorry for myself and dwelling on it. Just had to get that off my chest. #TheChallengeRivals3"
- on IG the day after the episode & after show: "Flooded with emotions today after seeing last nights episode and after show. I 100% should have never reacted the way I did and if I could take it all back I would. I wish Camila and I could have worked things out and I apologize to her and her family. I was only trying to get my point across but that was the worse possible way to go about it. A lot of regret but I promise it is a lesson learned and I'll be a better man because of it. #TheChallengeRivals3 @challengemtv"
- on IG the weekend after and in response to the social media hate he's received in the days after: "My life has changed more in this last year I think than when I went through puberty....damn. I'm trying people, I'm trying. I know I do all this to myself but the negative comments are not necessary. I don't want to get rid of my social media, I would just like to post a picture of something memorable in my life without having to read people tell me they hope I die. I mean really? How does telling someone they are a piece of shit make you a better person or make you feel better about yourself? I want to correct my mistakes and learn and grow from them. I know this won't matter but I felt like I needed to address it. All the best to you perfect people out there!"
● CAMILA/IG and Twitter @CamilaMTV
- on Twitter during the episode: "I can only hope a guy never does that to either one of Tony's baby girls. Because it is not a fun to be. Moments like these remind me of the things that really matter. There's a lot more than me and tony acting stupid happening in the world... I was def over dramatic. Duh. I'm aware. But its NEVER ok to do that to a woman. Never. Now back to real life...✌️ @MTV #TheChallengeRivals3"
- on IG after the episode: "Thank you all for your amazing support this season. It was def not an easy one. Full of ups and downs. I am not perfect, and I never will be. Being on the challenges have been such an experience, there's been some good and some bad, but one thing I know for sure is that I am closing the doors to this chapter of my life and I am done reliving the past. All I can hope now is that I learn from all of my mistakes and that I have helped you guys who have followed me and watched me to learn from my mistakes as well and also hope I was able to bring you some joy. I have been through a lot in my life which has impacted my life in so many more ways than I realized. I am glad that through watching myself all of these years, I am now able to really truly understand my purpose in this world and I want to live for a bigger cause than myself. I am human and I've acted a fool at times, but I'm also a good person and I have so much love and passion inside of me so I want to challenge myself from this day forward, to channel all of this energy into greater causes and to a much bigger purpose. For all those of you who have been following me the through the years, thank you! I appreciate you! And those of you that don't like me or don't agree with my actions... Hey! We're all entitled to our own opinions! Love you guys so much! #thechallengerivals3"
After reading all of the comments on their accounts, to be honest with you it makes me wanna go to the bathroom and puke all over the place that, just as I wrote in April, people have an attention span the size of a peanut and are using these social platforms to go off on Tony for what he did to Camila. Just as it was with the baby news, most everyone is going on there and leaving negative comments on them in this world where social media, being the way it is, can pounce at any second on anyone. And in this time where he should be excited about having a new addition to his family, everyone is bullying him for his actions that we see only on TV and not in all aspects of his life. As he posted in his latest IG picture this weekend, it has made him stressed out and all this social hate has made a bad situation look even worse. He reassured us that he is doing whatever he can to improve his image, and especially that he's about to become a dad for a second time this fall the pressure is on him to follow through on the promise he's made to himself. And if it takes cutting down his alcohol consumption, going to AA counseling or even a trip to rehab, it'll be a good first step to take.
As you all know, I'm non-judgmental when it comes to these peoples' actions and when something questionable or controversial takes place in this world, I always make sure to not take sides in the matter. This is why I keep a level head in social land of not tweeting or sending negative commentary towards anyone unless I feel that it is necessary...we would always leave that negativity to everyone else. But if there's something I can say about this is a message to those who have been going through the kind of social media hate like Tony has been getting is to stay strong and not get this negativity get them down. And to me, actions on a simple TV show will not change how I perceive people in real life, and will always be supportive to those who I support regardless of what the viewers see on television. It's only that small percentage of what makes it to the episodes that viewers get to see, and isn't fully representative of what they are like when you get to meet and chat with them at the mall. I recently sent some positivity to Brandon of this season's cast after what he quit and after he got bashed around in social world, including Jay of Exes 2 who also quit as well.
After going through what he's gone through in the course of the past couple years, all we can hope is for Tony to improve the peoples' perception of who he is, and to hope that he will get through this latest hurricane of hate he has been going through in the past week. He knows that a new baby girl will be arriving later this year and he's making it a top priority to improve his well-being ahead of the big moment in the fall, and then having to juggle becoming a father to two kids. It's something that one of my cousins has in parenting a kid she and her ex share joint custody of and another young son she has - so Tony isn't alone in this. If he can ride out this storm, then he'll be a great dad and Challenger. We're all human as we all make mistakes and nobody's perfect, but everyone deserves a second chance...he's worthy of it too. Let's all let him have a moment to himself after all of what's happened, and he will be a stronger person & father because of it.
THINGS TO KNOW
AYTO4 EPISODE 2
● LICK, LICK, LICK: We begin our AYTO recap with the season's first Getaway Challenge, where the couples lick unusual sauces off glass walls to match a fact to a photo. This is similar to a challenge we saw on Season 2 of the show, and it is probably the most sexual you can get in a challenge in seeing some licking going on. As it was in the Love at First Sight twist, the three pairs who get the most correct answers in the fastest time earn the date. The players all race to lick several different flavors including tomato paste and fish paste off of the walls (which includes some of the competitors wanting to vomit, of course), and they also answer questions about the other players, which includes things as simple to interesting tidbits about them too. When the dust settles, its Morgan & Nicole, John & Julia and Asaf & Francesca who win their way to the date.
● JULIA RELIEVED, JOHN GOES WILD: After the GC, and a week after what we saw at the first Matchup, John asks the house if he can be sent into the Truth Booth with Julia on the feeling that he's 100% confident that they are a match. Some of the other players aren't sure about his plea because he doesn't know much about her outside of their common Southern roots, but they prefer to put them in so that this thing can be settled. On their date - bowling in the Hawaiian countryside, John doesn't fare well with her as although he's madly in love with her, Julia feels hesitant. She prays that they're not a Truth Booth match as he's coming on too strong on her.
And when they do go into that chamber to put that to the scientific test, the lasers side with Julia with the "No Match" message and John feels devastated and heartbroken while Julia feels relieved. She tries to put a halt to matters by reaffirming the process of this game, and the whole house sees his heartbreak but it's when Prosper laughs at him that the man they call "Johnny Drama" loses his mind. John lashes out and argues at P.Muna, and then punches a wall. The guys try to calm him down, but when Victoria gives some judgement on how his short-term obsession with Julia, John loses it again, and he's restrained once again. The showmance is being caught as Julia tries to get away from him.

● FRANCESCA & ASAF FLAME OUT: As the buzz focuses on John & Julia, as well as Cameron & Mikala kissing in the confessional and Kaylen & Gio having feelings for one another, Francesca & Asaf had a strong connection but hit into a speed bump. He brings her into the Boom Boom Room for a cuddle session but that's all they do in Poundtown. Asaf finds himself frustrated that she's not going all in on him and doesn't want to keep going, even when they do go on their date. His dissatisfaction with her is still there as Asaf calls Francesca "my little sister" as she's not opening up to him, and after what happened to him she's fortunate that they didn't hook up.
● MARRIAGE TALK: The next night, the second Matchup takes place and the guys choose. John still finds himself heartbroken in letting Julia go and he makes it clear that he still wants to be with her, which is frustrating everyone else. But after they clicked in the first two weeks here, it's Kaylen that drops a big thing in front of everyone on the patio: when Giovanni picks her, she announces that they have talked about marriage. Yes, they're thinking about following the footsteps of Amber & Ethan and head into the world of wedded bliss, and it's only the second week. Here's hoping that they'll be put into the truth booth and emerge out of it a match.
By the way, the group is unchanged in the light department in retaining three beams, which is still a good early number -- it's way better than what last year's cast went through at their 2nd MC when they blacked out. And as far as gameplay goes, only Kaylen & Gio and Cameron & Mikala picked each other the first two weeks (compared to six last year when they lost that $250 K) and the house is playing better in finding who their match is instead of staying with their gut instincts. Should Kay & Gio go on a date, they should be put in and if they're not a match it'll be a tough road ahead.

> AYTO 4 - Episode 2
@dc408dxnow: So last week we saw the group squander a $250k truth booth but salvage a split in a good truth booth. Now what's going to take place here?
@dc408dxnow: John talking of what happened at that pick in the first TB, and whether he was dwarfed or not. But we love a good old triangle.
@dc408dxnow: .@samhandler32 loves High School Musical movies... "I'm a third grader in a jock's body." And also, he played football at UCLA too.
@dc408dxnow: Our first Getaway Challenge. Photos, facts and paste. And it means lickin'. Well, this should be fun w/ all the paste. Top 3 to TB vote
@dc408dxnow: If there was a fantasy game for this, they'll be scoring for vomiting as we find out all these clues about the singles.
@dc408dxnow: Fish paste is the last one in the rotation & this won't taste well but will be worth it if they want the date.
@dc408dxnow: Morgan & Nicole sweep the board and take 1st. At three: John & Julia...maybe bit TB vote. And 3rd: Sam & Alyssa and Asaf & Francesca. #AYTO
@dc408dxnow: In that tie: Asaf & Francesca go faster and take 3rd. And those two were on FOX reality shows: he on #SYTYCD last year, her on X-Factor.
@dc408dxnow: John talking to the guys about Julia, and the girls talking about her too. I'm sure they'll put them in to settle this score
@dc408dxnow: There's Cameron and one of the girls kissing in the confessional. And now Francesca & Asaf getting it on in the Boom Boom Room. #AYTO
@dc408dxnow: Kaylen and Giovanni are alone. He wants to be the best person he can be, and also look for the right one.
@dc408dxnow: Aqua hall down the hill for our challenge winners as they go down the bowling alley. This is some fun date they're going on here. #AYTO
@dc408dxnow: I pretty much know they'll go for John & Julia as they vote and the dates are enjoying this trip. But Francesca & Asaf...awkward. #AYTO
@dc408dxnow: So now they're in the living room hoping they get close to the cash & settle this triangle. And they do get John & Julia to go in. #AYTO
@dc408dxnow: No. @MTV_JohnnyDrama @juliarose_33 are NOT a match. That settles the love triangle and he is moved to tears by this. #AYTO
@dc408dxnow: This thing has become the buzz of the house as John & Julia talk and how he's punched a wall as Prosper laughs. Getting out of hand now.
@dc408dxnow: More boom boom room action as Giovanni and Kaylen enjoy their time. And now another matchup and it's windy out there in the patio.
@dc408dxnow: Guys pick tonight, they'll be lucky to stay the course give this drama. Cam first up, picks Julia. Tyler goes w/ Victoria. #ayto
@dc408dxnow: Stephen goes w/ Tori. Cameron picks Mikala. Morgan knows how important this is although were early, so they need to keep beam # good here
@dc408dxnow: Morgan picks Alyssa ahead of Sam as he gives her a flower. He's making a power play in the suit knowing this could cost a beam here #ayto
@dc408dxnow: Sam has to go to alternate choices & is w/ Francesca. No problem for Asaf. Prosper picks Emma. Camille w/ Asaf. Gionvanni picks Kaylen.
@dc408dxnow: Just 2 weeks in, and Gionvanni & Kaylen have ambitions on keeping that ring finger open. It could happen again here. #AYTO
@dc408dxnow: John & Nicole are left, and my colleague's right, he has traits of the guy who was part of the power team last week in Mexico.
@dc408dxnow: Last week, they started w/ three beams, which is good at this early stage. But tonight, no change - but better than expected.
@dc408dxnow: So, after two, Season 4 is ahead of the pace last years cast had at three. No change but not bad as we're 1/5th of the way through here.
@CSUGradAkirk: Sam looks so much like chuck from last season it scares me hahahaha #ayto
@CSUGradAkirk: No brainer who's in the truth booth #AYTO
- @dc408dxtr: @CSUGradAkirk yeah for sure, I think they'll go for John & Julia and settle this triangle. Otherwise the house isn't playing this game right
- @CSUGradAkirk: @dc408dxtr they can't go wrong with asaf and Francesca tho #AYTO
@CSUGradAkirk: Gonna be thrown off with Cam and Cameron the whole season #AYTO
@CSUGradAkirk: Who was that with Mikayla cam or Cameron #AYTO
@CSUGradAkirk: I think this season could get a perfect match in the next couple weeks don't think it'll be John and Julia #ayto
@CSUGradAkirk: John is going to be just like Chris and just like Brandon not gonna move and it's probably gonna be annoying
- @dc408dxtr: @CSUGradAkirk I think you're right. I think we have That couple in this house in reference to the guys you mentioned right there
- @CSUGradAkirk: @dc408dxtr I don't think they'll be the couple cause it's very one sided I hope they are a match but gio and Kaylen would be that couple John is like Nate with Shelby in season two
@CSUGradAkirk: @JuliaRose_33 is handling the situation right she's moving on unlike this dude #AYTO
@CSUGradAkirk: I think I found my least favorite guy on the show this season only took me two episodes #AYTO
@CSUGradAkirk: John and Julia is what we like to call a nomance #AYTO
@CSUGradAkirk: Asaf is making me lmao this episode #AYTO
@CSUGradAkirk: I'm glad they're changing it up from the first one but Morgan made the wrong choice #ayto
@CSUGradAkirk: I can tell in that extra scene all the girls must've loved Sam #ayto
@CSUGradAkirk: Wait the m word it's episode two lol woah #AYTO
@CSUGradAkirk: Only two repeat picks that means they're paying attention who sat with who at the last one unlike season three #AYTO
@busdriversroute: If you only watch Netflix movies you don't like movies. #AYTO
@busdriversroute: Asaf's pop culture references may become the highlight of the season. #AYTO
@busdriversroute: It's almost like geographic location and Facebook mutual friends aren't determining factors of love. #AYTO
@busdriversroute: Some people just want to watch the world burn. #AYTO
@busdriversroute: Do you think Ryan says "no strategy only love" over and over in his sleep? #AYTO
@lashtweets: Sam used GNO more naturally than any girl I've ever met #AYTO
@lashtweets: Ryan, who is AYsif? #AYTO
@lashtweets: Every time John justifies his feelings for Julia a part of me dies #mutualfriends #AYTO
@lashtweets: KBYE ASAF 👋🏻 #AYTO
@lashtweets: What am I watching ? #AYTO
@lashtweets: Almost every pair I think is a match is broken up this ceremony #AYTO 🙈
@lashtweets: Doesnt everyone always keep that finger free ? #AYTO
@lashtweets: Nicole's reaction right now is life 😬 #AYTO
> Rivals III - Episode 8
@dc408dxnow: Last week, we saw emotions run over and a questionable move. Now the halfway point has been reached. What's next now? Off to Mexico. #DCNOW
@dc408dxnow: Now we're getting to know about Nate & Nicole in the club. And there's Cory & Cheyenne and they're enjoying their company. #DCChallenge
@dc408dxnow: Tony talking to Devin & he doesn't like Camila, who's that girl D is seeing. And Cam is heated after taking that fall on Vince #DCChallenge
@dc408dxnow: Camila drops & they laugh. And she's not happy about them making fun of this. Vince being the target of this again unfortunately. #DCNOW
@dc408dxnow: Well, it's about to get ugly once again w/ Camila & Tony. This is what happens when you have 2 hotheads paired up here. #DCChallenge
@dc408dxnow: A cyclone has arrived in Mexico and they have to separate Camila & Tony again. @MTVDevinWalker: "an ugly, violent episode." #DCChallenge
@dc408dxnow: Well, @tjlavin has arrived in the house & I sense this is serious. And I think he's about to send someone home yet again here. #DCChallenge
@dc408dxnow: .@CamilaMTV: "I'm just overwhelmed. I'm sad." @MTVBananas: "I feel responsible." She is in tears as Tony is going home. Unfortunate. #DCNOW
@dc408dxnow: Camila & Tony go home for violating this 2 strikes rule. TJ warned them before, & he's made the biggest power move so far here. #DCChallenge
@dc408dxnow: And now another twist: TJ brings all the teams into the jungle. Just boxes & an all night stay there. Final has arrived early. #DCChallenge
@dc408dxnow: A first: mariachi band into the jungle. Everyone dancing. How will these people stay here for all night entertaining the teams? #DCChallenge
@dc408dxnow: If you saw Real Cancun (prod. by BMP), a mariachi group woke up the cast on their 1st morning in Mexico. So, this is not new to me here
@dc408dxnow: .@MTVDevinWalker is liking having this group here. @Dario_medrano_ really nailed it w/ that cheeseburger quote there. Cash also on the line
@dc408dxnow: Now we have a memory game going on here. Sarah might be on to something here. Now it's about endurance to handle this all night affair
@dc408dxnow: We saw a production guy then a motorcycle. Now a welder. This is getting a bit strange, but this is a memory game here now. #DCChallenge
@dc408dxnow: Now we've got a donkey & food. My friend here says they don't run out of any ideas for this. And KA performing. This is stir crazy.
@dc408dxnow: Now what's going on?! A guy causes havoc to the jungle. This is the strangest thing I've seen in the years I've followed this world #DCNOW
@dc408dxnow: We have a guy doing a juggling act. They're gonna memorize everything for the sake of winning this as this goes to last round & small box.
@dc408dxnow: It's 4-5am. KellyAnne not happy about getting sleep. Nany sneezing.
@dc408dxnow: Now we've got an iguana in the house. Seems this odd mission has its crowning moment & dawn breaking. Id be shocked if this is for naught
@dc408dxnow: It's morning. They've been up all night. Now is this the end? Yeah. Now it's gonna head over into next week w/ this mental part of this.
@CSUGradAkirk: The first place team in the challenge fantasy is Adam Royer's law degree hahahaha lmfao #rivals3
@CSUGradAkirk: My boy @MTVCoryWharton is going through two challenges #rivals3 and trying to get Cheyenne I wonder what's the more difficult one for him
@CSUGradAkirk: Bananas and Vince are so manipulative it's hard to watch sometimes #TheChallengeRivals3
- @dc408dxtr: @CSUGradAkirk I think this is getting back to the Vince you didn't like last season. Now there's this, it's unfortunate to see this happen
- @CSUGradAkirk: @dc408dxtr I don't get why mtv casts half these guys on the show all they do is act cocky and treat women like crap
@CSUGradAkirk: Fun fact #rivals premiere was on this date 5 years ago still my favorite challenge of all time!
@CSUGradAkirk: Jamie trying to carry Tony funniest shit ever #TheChallengeRivals3
@CSUGradAkirk: I put a big part of blame on bananas for waking Tony up nothing would've happened had he and Vince woke him up #rivals3

@CSUGradAkirk: This mariachi band reminds me of the first detour of #amazingrace28 #TheChallengeRivals3
@CSUGradAkirk: How many of you guys thought that a jungle was gonna be getting lit on fire not a random guy showing up #Rivals3

TRAGEDY IN ORLANDO: J.D. REMEMBERS
Two weeks have passed now since the worst weekend the city of Orlando, FL has ever had to endure, with two senseless tragedies taking place in less than 36 hours. Friday, June 10th saw The Voice alum Christina Grimmie gunned down after a concert performance, and two days later in the early hours of Sunday June 12th the deadly shooting at the Pulse Nightclub that left 49 innocent young souls dead and more than 50 wounded - the deadliest mass shooting we've ever experienced on our own shores.
On our Rivals III post on Saturday, we brought you the story of Chris Ammon from the most recent Real World season taking a stand against the 53 senators who voted against gun control legislation this past week that would've prevented not just those two tragedies but also the other deadly shootings that have taken place in both the U.S. and worldwide in the past decade. Now in part 2 of this ExtraTime series, we turn our attention to another of those from the LGBT community who have been proudly represented on The Real World and The Challenge for a quarter-century.
Six years ago, The Real World Brooklyn saw the show return to its old-school roots in where the show all began in New York City, and across the Brooklyn Bridge in the city's largest populous borough. We saw the reality of being a transgender take place before an Olympian made it well-known, an Iraq Army veteran adjust to life back home before he was recalled by sheer luck, a Mormon who wore bow ties and, yes, Sarah before her Challenge days. Along with Chet, Katelynn, Ryan and the rest of the group, there was J.D., where we saw him get into words with the girls during that season and initiated the famous rat pranks in the house. With a degree in marine biology, he was a dolphin trainer before he moved up to the Big Apple and then to SoCal, as well as doing both the Cutthroat and Seasons Challenges. And because he worked at SeaWorld Orlando for several years, is a proud gay man and 90% of the shooting victims were of Latino descent (it hosted a Latin Night on June 11th), J.D. was deeply affected in all three ways by the tragedy in his old hometown.
While he was in Orlando to tend to a funeral for a friend of his and reconnect with the Central Florida community that he became close with during his time at SeaWorld, J.D. went to the Pulse nightclub on Thursday, where so many flowers, balloons and signs have been left outside the club in the days after the shootings. His sign in front of the crime scene read, "#WeHoPULSE For the tears we've all cried. You won't be forgotten by those left alive. From one home #MickysWeHo to my other home #PulseOrlando We Stand Strong with #OnePulse. In Loving Memory #RIP." And his captions added, "From my East Coast home to my West Coast home and everywhere in between I am grateful to have our nation stand strong during this time and we shall move on and stronger!"

For everyone who has visited Pulse since June 12th (including the Orlando section of Critical Mass cyclists who stopped in front of it on Friday), it has been a surreal and emotional scene for them to visit the site of the worst tragedy involving gun violence in American history and the worst act of terrorism here since 9/11. Because this took place during this Pride Month where the LGBT community can take pride in who they are, they've been deeply affected by it - much in the same way their predecessors were when the Stonewall riots took place in New York in 1969 (and for which a national monument was dedicated yesterday), it has been an emotional month. And J.D. isn't the only member of the Trifecta family who's been affected by this as, in addition to the many gay & lesbian RW/Challenge alums, Are You The One's Pratt and Chelsey both call Orlando home too.
Words can't describe the enormous and immense grief this entire country felt in the days after the events that took away, too soon, the lives of 49 men and women in the early hours of June 12 in Orlando. An entire region of 2.3 million people in a top-25 metropolis has been heartbroken three times in not just this tragedy, but also the death of Christina Grimmie and the young kid mauled to death at Disney World. As you saw in our last post, immediate action has been taken to regulate gun control and to prevent an event of this from happening again which sparked reaction on Capitol Hill, all after the shootings that have taken place in the past decade. And for the LGBT community that numbers in the tens of millions, the Pulse shootings have both saddened and united their people in a month where they celebrate their immense Pride. For Chris, he took a stand against Congress for not passing laws last week, while J.D. made that emotional visit to where tragedy took place. The LGBT community has stood strong and will stay strong as Washington figures out what to do as soon as they can, and this time of remembrance continues for everyone involved in those shootings.
And that's all for the WRAP for Week 8. As you prepare for this week in the Trifecta, check out these following webcasts:
● Last week, Barstool Sports - one of the sports sites which has become big fans of The Challenge, snared a big scoop in the podcast world when host Dave Portnoy talked to all-time Challenge legend C.T. on his self-titled show. There, the two discussed everything relating to his Challenge career from his Adam fight to the Bananas backpack and beyond, as well as whether he's ready to do another one. Listen to that podcast here, plus chats Dave did with Stanley Cup champion Nick Bonino, NBA player Frank Kaminsky, former MLB all-star and horse racing analyst Paul LeDuca and an exclusive interview with Curt Schilling after his exit from ESPN following controversial comments.
● There is the must-listen MTV RHAP with Brian Cohen (@BusDriversRoute) & Ali Lasher (@LashsTweets), and considering all that we've seen the past two weeks the duo do have plenty to talk about. Check out the podcasts covering Rivals III episode 7 and episode 8, all encompassing the whole Tony & Camila saga, Nate & Christina's botched power move and the all-night mission; they plan to also cover AYTO 4 as well too. Also check out past shows and his YouTube for all your Trifecta fix from Brian & Ali.
● Also check out The Brain Candy Podcast with Sarah and Susie and their Back to Reality web series on YouTube. Check out their Episode 8 live Q&A and other goodies on their YT channel, and thebraincandypodcast.com for a podcast chat with TJ.
● There's AfterBuzz TV and their recaps of The Challenge and Are You The One?, and in the ladder last week, John joined the group to discuss what happened with him and Julia and him causing big time drama on last week's episode. Check out those recaps, plus AYTO alum Ryan Malaty discussing last night's season finale of Game of Thrones now at afterbuzztv.com.
● Check out Ace Nichols (@AceNichols33) and her recaps on her YouTube channel and much more as well. Just posted in the past hour is her recap for Episode 8 which you can check out now, plus her wrap for Episode 7 too, plus along with chats she's done with Coral earlier this season, last night she announced her intent to join all these other sites and do cast interviews, so stay tuned for that.
● And there's Andrew Kirk (@CSUGradAKirk) and Reality Radio Podcast (@RealityRadioPod) where they are covering not just the Trifecta but also the new Big Brother season as well. Last week, Andrew welcomed back past guest Tyler of AYTO Season 3 for a veteran's view of the premiere and of Rivals III; and they plan to discuss the first week of BB 18 on YouTube and Blog Talk Radio.
Now along with our busy schedule of two 'Pulse diaries and a WRAP posted, as always, on the weekend, we're also focusing on a special ExtraTime long-form covering the first Rivals season that should be up soon. Plus in the coming week's posts that will be up over the long 4th of July weekend, we'll catch up with a Challenge champion as she prepares to go on a Challenge of a different sort. Once again, do this site a favor and please share these links on your social networks with your fellow fans so that this site and our great coverage can be accessed by more & more readers.
With the usual reminder of both episodes airing this week and to join the conversation for Rivals III at #DCChallenge, this week DCNOW @DC408Dxtr has a packed week ahead with the U.S. Olympic Trials taking place as well as the knockout stages of EURO 2016, and we'll have that covered this week.
