Last week, our group of Alex, Alonzo, Ashley, Bria, Chris, Cody, Eilish, Gina, Michael and Makani arrived in the South Pacific with just their clothes and with money in hand. Along with the usual first impressions that come with any premiere of an MTV reality TV show, they also learn about the items on offer if they decide to use them, but ultimately decide to keep the cash and the elements get the best of them. Cody emerges as villain of the group, and then one of them decides to call it quits.
This week, the group is faced with a $100,000 race to the second camp site and along the way, they encounter a major loss en route to the site. After opting to save the cash last week, hunger, exhaustion and rain begin to take their toll on the adventurers. When the opportunity comes to finally get a much-needed refuel, alliances begin to fracture, and the rest of the campers finally find out about the temptation Gina had that cost them some of their fortunes and may have her look from the outside in.

THINGS TO KNOW
● TWO MORE GONE: At the end of last week, aspiring model Bria announced her surrender with the firing of a flare gun. This week begins on day 4 with the nine remaining players beginning their voyage looking to grab another $100k if they can get to their second camp site in 3.5 hours. But while they go on that 4 kilometer trek through grass, mud, hills and the like, they encounter so much including not being able to show teamwork as we would usually see on The Challenge, as well as Chris getting sick and Ashley regretting having not taking off her shoelaces. And it's her who decides that enough is enough, as she fires her flare gun and quits. But that's not all: Eagle Scout Michael also decides to take his leave and he, too, surrenders. Seven are left, but do make it with time to spare.
● LIES, FOOD & BINGE SHOPPING: If you're me, you always look forward to the last few days before your annual Las Vegas trip to treat it as your own Cyber Monday and spend $40-50 on iTunes music to fill your iPod. Well, when the group receives their $100 grand, they also find out for the first time about what happened last week when Gina & Mike spent $15,000 on burgers and then keeping it under wraps, and making her a target for lying to them about spending their money. Angry about how they got played by Gina, Alex gets the necessary majority to lead the group to go on a buying spree. And by the time that they had bought a backpack, cooking pot, machete, fire-starter kit, two-person tent, tarp and a pizza, $105,000 was gone from their pot with food and much-needed supplies... all at the expense of Chris and Cody.
● ALLIANCES REVEALED: After that mini Black Friday, Cody and Alex get into words, which then sees Makani melt down and goes to a lake to take a bath and cry, and Cody then goes to her there to bond with her. This then comes back to the rest of the group when they tell her that she can't sleep in the tent. Then, Chris and Cody get a chance to respond to the shopping spree Alex and his tribe went on when the Bromance receives a Temptation. With clothes, food, shoes and a poncho, the two are in no hurry to spend group money of their own, which then sees Alex tell them and everyone else to keep an eye on that wallet.
On the subject of that last item, in the lead-up to this season both Cody and Alex gave me Twitter follows, and both were featured in ExtraTime bits which you can check out in our Look preview. As you see from the diary above, there's strong animosity between the two of them and members of their respective alliances that it appears that this will be the overarching storyline that will dominate the entire season once we get late into the springtime.
And it's once again it's worth bringing up a longstanding policy I still abide to on here: if there is something that takes place between MTV cast members that pertains to something that happens on their shows or off of them, it's always hands off... Let the people who are at war just fight it out, and don't intervene or take sides to risk objectivity, perhaps more. So again, I'll just stay neutral and not take either side...in other words, just stay Switzerland in this latest saga.
