MTV Trifecta: Stranded with a Million Dollars - Episode 3

It's the weekend - which means if you're anxious for some sun you'll rejoice to where you will get to spring forward one hour ahead later tonight...and it also means it's time for us at DCBLOG to bring you the week in the MTV Trifecta. Coming up, that Challenge sweetheart known as Barbie Beast rekindles her love affair with Thor, and it's crunch time in the Caribbean for AYTO's Team 22. But we kick things off with week 3 of Stranded with A Million Dollars.

   Last week, the group was forced to race to their second camp site for $100,000 and lost not only one person in Bria, but two others in Ashley and Michael when both announced their exit. After opting to save the cash in week 1, exhaustion, hunger and rain started to take their toll on the remaining adventurers, and when the chance finally comes for them to refuel, alliances began forming. And the campers finally found out about Gina's temptation that cost them $15,000 without notice.
   This week, with only seven people left in Fiji, tensions among the group begin to rise. As a dangerous storm bears down on their camp, Makani decides to take a stand against her former friends, meanwhile Chris and Alonzo struggle against the elements. There's another temptation awaiting one of the remaining adventurers, while the group is also offered incentive to buy as much food and supplies at half off. But will another one bit the dust too?

 THINGS TO KNOW 

● CAMP SPLIT: As the week begins at day 8 with another 2.6 km trek to their next camp site and $100,000, there is a clear divide among the seven still stranded on the island. On one side is Cody, Chris and Makani, while the other alliance comprises of Alex, Alonzo, Gina and Eilish. Both sides have one adventurer eyeing on wanting to get rid of players: Cody, of course, in the first alliance, while Alonzo emerges as the one on the other side. And when he hears of the other alliance wanting to use a tent, Cody not surprisingly scoffs at them. And while Cody gives Chris a pep talk to stay in the game, Alex and Alonzo bond.

   But nowhere is this gulf prevalent than in strategy: Cody constructed a plan at the beginning to save the cash so he can outlast everyone else, while Alex countered with getting a majority of votes to buy whatever you need for that majority and deny those in the minority access to it. And we've seen Alex's alliance get a tent, while Cody has been outspoken, Chris getting wet and Makani being impatient. That leads us to issue #2...

● TEMPTATION ISLAND: While the group received much needed food & supplies in week 2, going into week 3 they have only $65,000 left from the $200,000 in their bank. For the group buy, Makani and Eilish get into words where the former asks over whether they want a mosquito net or something to light up their tent at night...the group buy nets them a few things. And when the Temptation arrives, Alonzo is chosen, and he picks Eilish to venture to that paradise. There, they find not only food, but also the kind of accommodations that would make you think this is straight from Hawaii than the local motel: a posh bed, a bathroom and even getting their laundry done while they sleep...all for $15,000. But Alonzo feels he would betray the rest of the group if he took it, and instead declines the offer.  And there's another thing to all this: when Alex's group gets food, Makani grabs leftover food while they are out doing other things.

● ANOTHER ONE...: A Flash Sale is then announced to the group giving them a chance to buy survival items at half-off because of an impending storm. Chris wants to get a tarp at $15,000, but the Apple alliance overrules him for a jar of peanut butter at $3,750. When that disruptive weather comes rolling in, the shelter that's been shielding the Thrive alliance collapses on them, and coming into this Chris states his objection to the rain in him saying, "I hate being wet. I hate the f...... rain." And when it comes in again, the New Englander decides that getting wet this many times is enough and shoots up his flare gun to announce his surrender. However, because this is taking place at nigh, he is forced to stay there until the weather clears out for aircraft to pick him up. Nonetheless, it's now a six-person tribe at a third of a way through.
