As we speak to you now, we are in the midst of the winter holidays, and we're ten days away from Christmas as we enjoy the sight of snow and Santa Claus. But if you're in Australia, it's summer and it's likely you're reading this right on the sand just like those out in Hawaii. It's with this in mind that we at DCBLOG usher you into the winter portion of the MTV Reality season as we'll soon say farewell to what's been an unbelievable 2018 for us covering these shows on here, and usher in the new year of 2019 with our busiest year to come on here following what will be a record output of over 250 posts by the time the New Year's Eve ball drop occurs.
For what we have right now and ahead: Floribama Shore is into the fall portion of Season 2 with plenty more shenanigans to come from both Florida and from a second place our Panama City Beach bunch will travel this coming week. There's also Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club, as the queen of the Mean Girls will oversee her newest European beachside resort with hot girls & guys helping her out. Nev Schulman is into a new era of Catfish as he embarks on new stories to investigate without Max Joseph at his side, while the lovely kids of Siesta Key will come back into our lives from paradise. And there's other stuff in the next few months to keep viewers happy and us here busy, before a new season of the fifth major sport and the return of the O.G. of reality TV arrives on our screens.
After entertaining audiences in the U.K. and overseas with a concept inspired by the first twisted Real World season almost five years ago featuring that dad Cory, earlier this year Ex On The Beach arrived in the U.S. as MTV's first international franchise to have a version localized for the world's most coveted television market. He and AYTO alumni joined with those from other non-MTV reality series to bring Ex to America and to the Hawaiian islands, and not only introduced the large Jersey Shore audience to MTV's special brand of reality TV, but also gave a new definition to the romantic reality genre: drama and fireworks aplenty... all triggered by the sight of an ex-boyfriend & girlfriend invading the beach like Jaws.
Ex On The Beach will return for Season 2 this coming Thursday with much to live up to, all after seeing a snake scare the dad not once but twice, a makeout sesh with a bad girl and a chocolate man in the confessional, a rejection by a Bachelor, and so much more as they introduced this wild format to U.S. screens. And the only thing that can possibly top what we saw in the estate Justin Beiber spent one summer in... is a season that can match the kind of explosive drama of that first season, and whose players are an all-star lineup of reality stars both known to MTV fans and to the broader crowd who have followed them since they were first going for a rose, to be head of household and even make love with a person of the same sex.
There will sure be a lot of makeups, breakups, heartbreak, and a whole lot of love, drama and craziness to go down right by the Pacific Ocean. And we here at DCBLOG will again be here to bring you all of that as we follow Ex On The Beach with every step from this preseason preview that you're reading right now, right through the last Cut or Crush deep into the new year... all from our unique vantage point. And ahead, we'll introduce you to our new (almost, that is) class of reality stars chosen to live in a house thinking they're on a new dating series only to get catfished, plus introduce any of you watching this for the first time to what this show is all about. And this is just the start: later, we'll offer our customary introduction to this season's Newbies as we'll introduce the non-MTV reality stars of this season just before or shortly after they move into the fabulous house in Malibu.

Given how Ex On The Beach was the most-watched new MTV series since Are You The One? four years ago - and both being beneficiaries of MTV's most-coveted spot for any new show in getting the bump of launching out of Jersey Shore and Teen Mom, we know that not a lot of you reading this know what the show is about. But for the sake of those coming in from across the reality universe getting to watch EOTB for the first time, here's what you can expect...
Ex On The Beach launched on MTV UK and affiliated international channels in the spring of 2014, after the finales of both AYTO Season 1 and Real World Ex-Plosion in America. The original British version just aired its ninth series (British for "season" in U.S. TV lingo), while it has been franchised in eleven other territories, customary for any reality series in being adopted for its local markets. EOTB USA marked the first time than an MTV-originated international format has been customized for its flagship American network, and thus to greater attention than usual.
Every Ex On The Beach season begins like any other reality series with the singles - mostly reality castoffs - moving into the house getting to know one other and their surroundings, and all anxious to party, hook up, have fun in the sun and enjoy the great place Southern California is year-round. As they begin this, they are placed under the presumed assumption that they have come to paradise for a nice vacation and a traditional reality dating show like others we get to see. That is, until host, rapper, actor and Champs vs. Stars Challenger Romeo Miller will come in to tell them that it's anything but the usual romantic love-fest.
Once they get the news from Romeo, the singles will find themselves in a totally different state than they were to begin with, as they'll be in for a total shock when their exes will come face to face with them on the beach, or in some cases in the house. With the emergence of their ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends to the scene, they bring with them the puzzled web of love, revenge, hookups and deceit, which will see all of our couples having to deal with the past. They'll all decide whether to rekindle flames of days gone by or simply move on to new love prospects after the ultimate of blindsides here in paradise. And of course, there's all the drama MTV viewers comes to expect as well, too.
Every few days - and with the sight of their faces being put onto their own flags, a few housemates will walk to the Beach of Doom, where they'll put on some tan, build beach bods and meet Romeo to see "Whose Ex Is Next?" Those exes will arrive in either single or multiple amounts almost from the beginning, and it's worth watching the reactions of the singles seeing their past return to shore like sharks that will not only set the tone for each episode, but will make for some memorable moments worthy of being immortalized in a GIF meme by the shock on their faces.
Another part of every EOTB house is the Tablet of Terror: the device will send clues to the house such as sending singles on getaway dates, either with fellow singles or most especially their ex or with a vendetta that they have formed in the house. It also gives the house big twists as well, such as forcing pairs to sleep outside in the cold, leaking pictures of any house activity or secrets given to production from casting interviews before moving into the house, or anything else that's noteworthy for the housemates to know that could send chaos into any relationship. It is a big component of the U.K. version, but a guest of the next twist...
The Shack of Secrets is this show's equivalent to the AYTO Truth Booth and the Deliberation Room we saw on the past two Challenge seasons, and is also the confessional room on the UK show. In the U.S. version, the Shack is where a former couple of a single & ex will have their relationship be put under the microscope where it is put under greater scrutiny and where the real truth of why their love fizzled will be uncovered. Here, it was where Angela found out about Derrick, where Lexi & Paulie's rekindled love became all for not, and where Chris tested Chelsko on a lie detector if she had slept with his uncle. And those who go here are summoned by a message in a bottle, and in the case of last season - the sound of an elevator.
And Ex On The Beach would not officially be a reality series without a way where a housemate can be eliminated, though there's no prizes at stake here. In Cut or Crush at times during the season, the house will be given the chance to vote out anyone in the house, bringing the political element of The Challenge, Survivor and Big Brother into this show. Generally, it's the OG's who have power in the house in sending home an ex with an "X" to indicate a Cut, or sparing them an expense with a "Crush" - negating one of the crosses... and one week, the Exes had control - so no one's safe.
If you watched last season, there was a lot that went down in Hawaii. Cory Wharton, of course, was the headliner after the news he revealed just after he got done filming both EOTB and Vendettas back to back: him revealing the news that he was the father of his Rivals III love Cheyenne Floyd, which brought them, fans of the Trifecta and even a few of his MTV mates to Teen Mom OG. Taylor Selfridge from Are You The One? Season 5 was the other original familiar to the MTV crowd, and they was joined by Bad Girls Club's Angela Babicz, Bachelor alumni Chase McNary and Jasmine Goode, Big Brother bad boy Paulie Califore and Vanderpump Rules' Faith Stowers... along with fit guru Tor'i Brooks, fashionista Victoria and DJ Chris "Creatures Ferris".
This season's group of singles who'll be moving into the SoCal house next week are those that have much reality TV experience among all of them, unlike last season's cast that had three relative rookies that moved to Hawaii as just everyday singles. For those of you who watch MTV regularly, half of them are familiar: they've appeared on several seasons of The Challenge, a past season of Are You The One?, the first Ex On The Beach this past year, and Teen Mom. For the other half, like it was in Hawaii there are past cast members of The Bachelor, Big Brother and Bad Girls Club, but there's also representation from two erstwhile shows, too. The MTV family goes first...
♥ JANELLE SHANKS (Bad Girls Club): Five years ago, Janelle Shanks found herself in the Season 13 Bad Girls Club house in Miami as a replacement. There in the same house that gave the reality world Sarah Oliver, Janelle made quite a mark there on South Beach while being pushed around and being hated on. The lady who refers to herself as "The Weave-tologist" then made her way to the second Bad Girls Club Battle, the erstwhile Oxygen franchise's own Challenge spinoff and will be Challenge ready should she get a call. For now, she's reintroducing herself to reality TV being ready to party and bring her dynamic personality here, and also deal with an ex, of course.
And below, the list of the Exes who will eventually invade Malibu and make the lives of these singles a living hell or perhaps regain that lost love. Many of them are familiar to viewers from their time on MTV or elsewhere - and we'll have the opportunity to profile some of them along with the non-MTV singles when we profile them for our Who Are These Newbies? series to come shortly.

WHAT TO EXPECT...
Given how Ex On The Beach was the most-watched new MTV series since Are You The One? four years ago - and both being beneficiaries of MTV's most-coveted spot for any new show in getting the bump of launching out of Jersey Shore and Teen Mom, we know that not a lot of you reading this know what the show is about. But for the sake of those coming in from across the reality universe getting to watch EOTB for the first time, here's what you can expect...
Ex On The Beach launched on MTV UK and affiliated international channels in the spring of 2014, after the finales of both AYTO Season 1 and Real World Ex-Plosion in America. The original British version just aired its ninth series (British for "season" in U.S. TV lingo), while it has been franchised in eleven other territories, customary for any reality series in being adopted for its local markets. EOTB USA marked the first time than an MTV-originated international format has been customized for its flagship American network, and thus to greater attention than usual.
Once they get the news from Romeo, the singles will find themselves in a totally different state than they were to begin with, as they'll be in for a total shock when their exes will come face to face with them on the beach, or in some cases in the house. With the emergence of their ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends to the scene, they bring with them the puzzled web of love, revenge, hookups and deceit, which will see all of our couples having to deal with the past. They'll all decide whether to rekindle flames of days gone by or simply move on to new love prospects after the ultimate of blindsides here in paradise. And of course, there's all the drama MTV viewers comes to expect as well, too.
Every few days - and with the sight of their faces being put onto their own flags, a few housemates will walk to the Beach of Doom, where they'll put on some tan, build beach bods and meet Romeo to see "Whose Ex Is Next?" Those exes will arrive in either single or multiple amounts almost from the beginning, and it's worth watching the reactions of the singles seeing their past return to shore like sharks that will not only set the tone for each episode, but will make for some memorable moments worthy of being immortalized in a GIF meme by the shock on their faces.
Another part of every EOTB house is the Tablet of Terror: the device will send clues to the house such as sending singles on getaway dates, either with fellow singles or most especially their ex or with a vendetta that they have formed in the house. It also gives the house big twists as well, such as forcing pairs to sleep outside in the cold, leaking pictures of any house activity or secrets given to production from casting interviews before moving into the house, or anything else that's noteworthy for the housemates to know that could send chaos into any relationship. It is a big component of the U.K. version, but a guest of the next twist...
The Shack of Secrets is this show's equivalent to the AYTO Truth Booth and the Deliberation Room we saw on the past two Challenge seasons, and is also the confessional room on the UK show. In the U.S. version, the Shack is where a former couple of a single & ex will have their relationship be put under the microscope where it is put under greater scrutiny and where the real truth of why their love fizzled will be uncovered. Here, it was where Angela found out about Derrick, where Lexi & Paulie's rekindled love became all for not, and where Chris tested Chelsko on a lie detector if she had slept with his uncle. And those who go here are summoned by a message in a bottle, and in the case of last season - the sound of an elevator.
And Ex On The Beach would not officially be a reality series without a way where a housemate can be eliminated, though there's no prizes at stake here. In Cut or Crush at times during the season, the house will be given the chance to vote out anyone in the house, bringing the political element of The Challenge, Survivor and Big Brother into this show. Generally, it's the OG's who have power in the house in sending home an ex with an "X" to indicate a Cut, or sparing them an expense with a "Crush" - negating one of the crosses... and one week, the Exes had control - so no one's safe.

If you watched last season, there was a lot that went down in Hawaii. Cory Wharton, of course, was the headliner after the news he revealed just after he got done filming both EOTB and Vendettas back to back: him revealing the news that he was the father of his Rivals III love Cheyenne Floyd, which brought them, fans of the Trifecta and even a few of his MTV mates to Teen Mom OG. Taylor Selfridge from Are You The One? Season 5 was the other original familiar to the MTV crowd, and they was joined by Bad Girls Club's Angela Babicz, Bachelor alumni Chase McNary and Jasmine Goode, Big Brother bad boy Paulie Califore and Vanderpump Rules' Faith Stowers... along with fit guru Tor'i Brooks, fashionista Victoria and DJ Chris "Creatures Ferris".
The exes who came to Hawaii had both reality veterans and ordinary people like us: Taylor's three exes - Season 5'er Andre Siemers, Season 6's Joe Torgerson (where she reappeared as his ex on his season) and Season 4's Cameron Kolbo, plus her vendetta in the aforementioned Alicia Wright, Season 5's Derrick Henry, and Season 1 OG Shanley McIntee... as well as Marco Delvecchio who also appeared in Camila Cabello's "Havana" video, among others. Taylor had to deal with all of her exes and Alicia living under one roof, which led her to spit on the Snake from the balcony just after the girl who stole Kam's match made those two memorable entrances as well as getting into it with Cory after he called her "weak." And all after Taylor had become very close to Cory, too.
The other big love triangle to take place in Hawaii was involving Angela, who had her jaw dropped when Derrick was part of the first wave of exes to arrive... but also competing for her heart was one who moved into the house with Angela as a single in Tor'i. Except for Cory, they were competing for the Bad Girl right up to halfway through the season when the exes were given a chance to vote out one of the originals, and Derrick took the lead in a scheme that led Tor'i to the door... all part of a rebound season for Mr. Chocolate after his three MTV seasons of bad luck. It was not the end for the newest Harlem Globetrotter in the house, as he and the rest of the exes who were voted out during the course of the season stopped by one last time before this season ended.

MEET THE SINGLES
This season's group of singles who'll be moving into the SoCal house next week are those that have much reality TV experience among all of them, unlike last season's cast that had three relative rookies that moved to Hawaii as just everyday singles. For those of you who watch MTV regularly, half of them are familiar: they've appeared on several seasons of The Challenge, a past season of Are You The One?, the first Ex On The Beach this past year, and Teen Mom. For the other half, like it was in Hawaii there are past cast members of The Bachelor, Big Brother and Bad Girls Club, but there's also representation from two erstwhile shows, too. The MTV family goes first...
♥ FARRAH ABRAHAM (Teen Mom OG): By now, everyone knows who Farrah is: she's that Nebraska girl who has had quite an MTV history worthy of being material for several books. From 16 & Pregnant to her tumultuous time on Teen Mom, in between all this her life has been in the public eye more than anyone else: her boyfriend being killed before her daughter was born, a testy relationship with parents, castmates and production, and her dealing with adult entertainment firms, which led her to move beyond her comfort zone to Ex On The Beach. Farrah's here because of the relationship she had with SoCal realtor Simon Siran, which was documented during Teen Mom OG.
♥ MALCOLM DRUMMER (Are You The One?): Last year, we saw Florida rapper Malcolm make his way to the AYTO mansion by the Bayou. He spent years as a player but came to the house looking to go from being a "thot" to being worthy of "boyfriend material." Malclom was part of a love triangle that had two girls fighting for his attention -- even taking for some bananas to make it all possible: Maine girl of Dominican descent Nurys, and New Yorker Diandra. Unfortunately, the science and fate did not side with him or either girl in New Orleans, and he comes here single and ready to perhaps make love with a single in 'Bu... what will happen if Didi or Nurys rain on the party again?
♥ NICOLE RAMOS (The Challenge): Two years ago in the first of what would be several seasons of Fresh Meat coming to The Challenge, Nicole came to Bloodlines as Nany's fiery cousin and gradually became part of the drama on Rivals III (where she finished just out of the final), Dirty 30 and a fairly short stint on Vendettas. As she comes to Malibu as a lead figure in an MTV show for the first time, Nicole comes off of a bad breakup - one of many she's had including AYTO'er Nate on Rivals III, the girl known for her live make-up sessions on Instagram will have the spotlight on her much more. If what we've seen from the past is a sign, she will become a breakout star by season's end.
♥ JOZEA FLORES (The Challenge and Big Brother): In the course of a full year, Big Brother alum Jozea has gone from competing on Champs vs. Stars II to being the first Star or Pro to cross over into the main show itself on Final Reckoning. Now after he & Da'vonne survived two trips to Redemption, he goes straight from South Africa to SoCal and Ex On The Beach as one of the first gay castmates on the global EOTB franchise, having had a few relationships with guys that did not work out in the end. If what we've been able to see from him during this year was fairly calm, then EOTB should be something else... his fiery side will finally come out.
♥ ANGELA BABICZ (Ex On The Beach): And rounding out the MTV veterans - and following in the lead of many others who've popped up on several series of the original British version, Angela returns to Ex On The Beach as the U.S.' adaptation's first two-time castmate. She came to last season with an ex in Derrick and hooked up with Tor'i, and after a respectable Challenge rookie run she makes her re-entry to EOTB with some unfinished business with the new Harlem Globetrotter. That won't be until later on when she's slated to arrive later than our original ten singles, but if what we've seen in the past is a sign we should expect plenty more from our resident Bad Girl.
♥ CHAD JOHNSON (The Bachelor): For the newbies - while we enjoyed seeing Chase and Jasmine from their show last season, in Bachelor Nation perhaps there's few people as notorious on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette than Chad Johnson. He had quite a memorable season on the twelveth cycle of The Bachelorette with Jojo Fletcher two years ago where he became the resident villain, then went straight to Season 3 of Bachelor in Paradise where a night of bad behavior saw Bad Chad get sent home. Last year, he made his way to E's Famously Single with Ronnie from Jersey Shore, then flew to Britain for Celebrity Big Brother. What's next for Chad? We'll find out in the 'Bu...
♥ MORGAN WILLETT (Big Brother): Following season 19 last year, Big Brother gave fans an extra treat when they did a condensed fall season called Over The Top. Austin publicist Morgan Willett came to the house with her sister Alex, and after being part of a dominant alliance, having a good social game and winning key competitions Morgan eventually made it to the last week, nabbed America's vote and won her season. Since then, she's become an AfterBuzz TV host, hung out with some of MTV's finest and got close to a fellow reality TV star, which has brought her to the Ex villa. What will happen when that happens here?
♥ COREY BROOKS (Big Brother): For the sixth member of the Big Brother 18 cast to jump to MTV two years after their original season, Corey Brooks is someone who's used to the sun. The Dallas area baseball coach & fan went to BB18 and was part of a key alliance and managed to make it all the way to the last week finishing short of #1. Like what we saw with Paulie, Corey also found himself in controversy over homophobia, which makes ultimately living with gays in this house a challenge. Love wise, Corey was in a showmance with a houseguest, but it's love that has brought him to the Ex house along with fellow BB alumni. We'll see what he has in store here.
♥ JANELLE SHANKS (Bad Girls Club): Five years ago, Janelle Shanks found herself in the Season 13 Bad Girls Club house in Miami as a replacement. There in the same house that gave the reality world Sarah Oliver, Janelle made quite a mark there on South Beach while being pushed around and being hated on. The lady who refers to herself as "The Weave-tologist" then made her way to the second Bad Girls Club Battle, the erstwhile Oxygen franchise's own Challenge spinoff and will be Challenge ready should she get a call. For now, she's reintroducing herself to reality TV being ready to party and bring her dynamic personality here, and also deal with an ex, of course.
♥ CHEYENNE PARKER (LogoTV's Fire Island): For the other making history in bringing the pride flag to Ex On The Beach, the LGBT crowd first saw Cheyenne Parker last year on LogoTV series Fire Island, which followed a group of gay men spending summer in a gay-friendly New York neighborhood. Like any good reality castmate, Cheyenne brought a passionate, fiery personality to his beach house, while also devoting energies to his new business and modeling. In addition to the possibilities of giving this franchise a global first, if you saw the first clip of this coming week's premiere we're sure he will become a fan favorite.
♥ MAYA BENBERRY (E!'s Catching Kelce): Lastly, two years ago E! invited 50 women from across the country to Kansas City for a new kind of dating show, where the prize was Chiefs wideout Travis Kelce. One of them was Maya Benberry, a Kentucky native who made quite a mark during that quest for love in the town that gave us Wes and Sylvia... and in the end Maya won Kelce's heart. They were together for several months afterwards before they split up, and it got ugly when he landed another contestant. With the footballer out of the picture as the playoff push continues, Maya is anxious for a fresh start in Malibu... but don't be surprised if something football-related comes to the beach.

And below, the list of the Exes who will eventually invade Malibu and make the lives of these singles a living hell or perhaps regain that lost love. Many of them are familiar to viewers from their time on MTV or elsewhere - and we'll have the opportunity to profile some of them along with the non-MTV singles when we profile them for our Who Are These Newbies? series to come shortly.
