Besides the countless number of appearances on other TV shows, memorable moments on TV or anything else of note, 2020 saw a number of your favorites from the world of MTV Reality have any of these following items: give birth to a new baby, celebrate the impending arrival of their new kid, or have another one of those coming-of-age moments for any adult: getting engaged. This has no doubt kept TV's most-talked about reality programming in the forefront in the past year, as growing appreciation from the media, the added promotion of being part of the expanded ViacomCBS company, and select seasons & shows being made available on both Netflix & CBS All Access has put it in the spotlight.
And during an unusual holiday period where most of us had to do without our traditions of having big family gatherings on Christmas or New Year's and had to revert to online shopping to avoid the crowds, the 2020 holiday season offered four members of Team MTV a more than enjoyable winter break... and they got to celebrate the next chapters in their lives. From a past Challenge champ to the franchise's representative in the Teen Mom universe, the holidays of this winter were indeed merry to them.
Ten years ago, the two seasons of The Real World that aired in 2011 gave us a glimpse into the future of The Challenge and its next generation. In the spring, it ventured up to the capital of adult freedom of Las Vegas, and each of the eight roommates would eventually do at least one season of The Challenge afterwards. But this was also the season with that memorable storyline of the porn past of one of them that became so big a deal that it put Dustin Zito on the cover of US Weekly.
In the fall, the show ventured down the road for Season 26 in the home of the endless summer of San Diego, CA... its second time to the southernmost metropolis on the west coast, and six of them would go onto The Challenge afterwards (and the seventh, Alex, would get to write a chart-topping hit for British girl group Little Mix). And as it was earlier in the year in it giving us Nany and Leroy, Back to San Diego was the season that gave us a regular of the show in Zach Nichols, who'd go on to several Challenges and an engagement with the Barbie Beast.
Before becoming Jenna Compono's fiancé and two other relationships with others in the MTV community, there's that first one: when Thor made his MTV debut he spent much of his time in the RW 26 house being cuddled up with Connecticut fitness model Ashley Kelsey. They sheltered themselves from everyone else that summer, then broke up, went onto Battle of the Seasons which they proceeded to win, and he'd go on to be a regular. And Ashley went onto having many more opportunities outside of TV land, save for being on Invasion of the Champions and Champs vs Pros.
Since we last saw her over three years ago, this sweetheart has followed in the footsteps of another Challenger in Theresa Gonzalez-Jones in becoming a girlfriend of a member of the Detroit Lions: Kerryon Jackson is in his third season in the Motor City after several years playing at Auburn and collecting SEC Player of the Year in 2017. And Ashley was one of the handful of fans who've gotten to see the Lions play at Ford Field this past season, as having field passes has seen her watch her man play during this time of a pandemic and mostly empty stadiums.
On Christmas morning a day before his Lions took on Tom Brady's Buccaneers during a losing season - and like most everyone else on that merriest days on the calendar, Ashley and Kerryon went onto the porch of his Michigan house amidst the magic of a White Christmas to reveal something big in a gender reveal with just the Instagram followers as their guests: she's expecting her first kid.
She wrote below, "Our biggest blessing yet! 🤰🏼 Just call us Mom and Dad. We can’t wait to meet you little girl. 💞" And the #GirlDad to be captioned jokingly, "...which also means one day I'll go to jail for possibly beating up a lil dude......Dilf of the year award coming soon."
And while there were the usual pleasantries from both the MTV and NFL families -- Tori, Taylor, Derrick, Jemmye and the like for her; Theresa's husband & former Lion TJ Jones leading the football community, there was one particular post in the Instagram comments that stood out: Jamie Foxx left "🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾" emojis. You know you've made it when someone as huge a star as he is leaves a comment on your social media pages.

Rarely does anyone get a two-for-one deal when it comes to these big life-changers, but there was one for the leading lady of those crazy kids down south.
Nilsa Prowant of Floribama Shore got to celebrate her birthday over the holiday period, but the celebrations began a few weeks early when she announced that she would be the first from her cast to ascend to parenthood when she and her boyfriend Gus (a different one from the one who's famously flirted with her many times on the show) announced the big news after filming Season 4 over the autumn. And their gender reveal saw them discover that they would have a baby boy running around all over the place come springtime.
The New Year's Weekend last week saw Nilsa turn 27 years old after a 26th year that saw not only the big news of her becoming a mommy-to-be, but also dealing with the passing over the summer of her father. And as she got to ring in the new year both on the traditional calendar and in her own one, there was someone more in store for her: Gus got on one knee, brought out an engagement ring and popped the magic question. And now, Nilsa has another first: the first on her Floribama group to get engaged.
Nilsa captioned below on Instagram - as well as revealing the name of the new kiddo, "On cloud nine 💍... The love of my life asked me to spend forever with him tonight on my 27th birthday. Today has been more than I could have ever imagined. I can't believe I get to marry my best friend and bring our son Gray into this world soon. Gus, you've picked up the broken pieces of my heart and put them back together one by one. You never cease to amaze me. I can always count on you! You are kind, caring, strong, and you love me so good. I know with you by my side I can get through anything. I would say yes over and over and over again. Every single time. Now...Let’s plan a wedding 🤍"
As it was back in December, the social crowd got to say their congrats with, of course, Nilsa's Floribama roomies leading the pleasantries. Aimee wrote, "I'm so happy! This is gonna be the best season of your life! I BETTER BE A FUCKIN BRIDESMAID!!!!", and Candace adding, "Omg !! You have no idea how I'm excited I am for you! You've been through so much last year, I’ve seen your growth and strength and you deserve EVERY bit of love and every girls fantasy.. Sending so much love to you guys and CONGRATULATIONS! 🎉🎊" And the gossip queen of their dramatic neighbors to the south in Siesta Key, Chloe, got to write to the mommy to be, "OMGOMGOMG! Congrats babe!!! So happy for the both of you 💕✨✨✨✨".

Ashley and Nilsa are about to join the countless others in the MTV Reality community who are parents, ranging from so many in Challenge Nation to half of the Jersey Shore cast with another coming later this year... and three of them represent this world in the Teen Mom family. Over four years ago - and on her 24th birthday no less, Cheyenne Floyd from Are You The One's most revered alumni class - Season 3 in 2015 - revealed to everyone that she was expecting her first kid.
It was a year later that the big bombshell dropped when the man she flirted with on The Challenge: Rivals III, Real World Ex-Plosion alum Cory Wharton, revealed that he was the father to young Ryder, and last year he & his Ex On The Beach girlfriend, AYTO Season 5's Taylor Selfridge, welcomed her first baby and his second kid, Mila Mae. During all this, Chey accepted the opportunity to bring us who follow the fifth major pro sport and MTV's first entry into the current reality dating craze into Teen Mom OG when they replaced first generation original Farrah Abraham.
On the pre-Christmas weekend last month, Chey & her boyfriend, Zach Davis, revealed on Instagram that they are expecting, which will be her second kid, his first, and the third in their part of the TM world -- the fourth if you count them being godparents to another member in the Floyd inner circle. And when we rang in the new year, they posted on her YouTube channel the big gender reveal at her house, for which the question of whether it's a boy or a girl was answered by the trails of a passing helicopter above their house.
That reveal, which took place just before Chey's pregnancy news was made public and with precautions in everyone invited to this small gathering having to quarantine & take multiple tests beforehand, saw her find out that Ryder and Mila will have a baby boy joining their club come summertime.
The mommy-to-be wrote on Instagram afterwards, "It's a BOY! I might still be in shock that I am having a boy. Happiness is an understatement to try to explain how we feel. My family and I are elated!! Ryder wanted a baby brother, and swears she knew this whole time. I know she’s going to be an amazing big sister. Mommy and daddy love you & can’t wait to meet you. 💙" And the daddy elect added, "By far, the best feeling I have ever felt in my life! All I wanted was 10 fingers, 10 toes & a healthy baby, but to see that blue smoke was like winning the lotto," all as he took a celebratory dip in the pool.
And along with all of this, there's also joy for another member of the AYTO family... Cheyenne's Rivals III partner is one who's made some headlines of his own on the current season of Double Agents in Devin. When he masterminded that epic comeback with those famous red Solo cups and that quarter, the one who was his perfect match that night was Rashida Beach, and they came out on top on the Second Chances spinoff just before he would take on Bananas and join up with Wes in Challenge world.
On Christmas morning, Rashida got to welcome her first baby as she wrote on IG, "Royal Amor 👑 Arrived 7:59 am on Christmas Day. 7lbs 3 oz. The Best gift ever. We love you so much 🥰 Help us welcome him to the world." And as much as we hated 2020, there will sure be plenty of these life-changing moments in this year that will make us think of the good ones like these.
