MTV Trifecta: Floribama Shore - The Premiere

After a week of depressing headlines, we've at last arrived at the begining of both the weekend and the final month of 2017, we're proud to say. And welcome again to our DCBLOG look Inside The MTV Trifecta, where coming up - there's an epic stare down between a beast and a big name on Champs vs. Stars, and crunch time arrives for Team AYTO in NOLA. But first here on this Friday, December 1st, we have something brand new for you.

   As MTV continues its renaissance in relevance and ratings this year, the newest series to take the cable pioneer by storm is now underway, as MTV Floribama Shore takes its first baby steps on the sands of the Florida Panhandle. The series marks the return of the Shore franchise that's become big around the world and which was spawned, of course, by the mega hit series Jersey Shore - which premiered eight years ago this Sunday, and whose return was announced this week, and we'll be looking at that later on tonight.

   With a new and diverse cast joining a legacy spawned by a group of nine memorable people in Seaside Heights, this week there's not one, but two episodes to begin this new journey. First, the cast will move into their new digs with all of the usual pomp and circumstance that comes with the first days in the house... and that includes having to pee in someone's bed. And then in hour two, the group gets friendly both with each other and the locals... but when a young lady tries to infiltrate the group, the ladies begin to lay claim to their turf.

This is the latest new series -- over 20 in all outside my three favorite shows -- that I have been able to follow in my five years following the MTV world socially, and because the Shore franchise will play a role in the next season of The Challenge, DCBLOG will be giving Floribama our wall-to-wall coverage treatment. It'll have own post during this winter with a Pulse diary of all the action, reaction and interaction of the cast to the episodes from the land of social media, plus a Things to Know episode recap and often an ExtraTime story. This makes this show the 21st series to be given this level of extensive coverage this site offers weekly.

@dc408dxnow: Eight years ago next week, the journey began for eight people whose lives changed in Seaside. Now, a new era begins as we welcome you to #FloribamaShore.

@dc408dxnow: All of these people have made their way from the south to Panama City Beach for the start of this journey that has brought them to this hub of Spring Break and a summer to remember

@dc408dxnow: This is actually the first Trifecta season I've watched that has the video style instead of the film style we've seen for last several years as the cast meets here

@dc408dxnow: Well, they can't get the cork going and finally they do. Party's on.

@dc408dxnow: Aimee has been in a long relationship that finally she's out of and ready to be single here. So is Nilsa. And Gus and Jeremiah take on role as the heartthrobs of this house.

@dc408dxnow: The FBS cast has the beach as their backyard, which you can't say the same w/ their Seaside counterparts.

@dc408dxnow: One of the girls hasn't had this opportunity to be on their own but now she's ready to show the newbies what this town has to offer

@dc408dxnow: They're set to take the town, and there's always the dynamic that comes with a new group getting to know each other

@dc408dxnow: And already Kortni is hammered, in bed, and everyone's off to the clubs for night 1. And she has just missed the bus. And is she doing what she's doing? Peeing on the bed.  #DCNOW

@dc408dxnow: Night at the club. And finally Kortni joins everyone else. And they're having fun.

@dc408dxnow: Kortni's back at the place and that Nilsa. And they're already making love and Gus is already becoming the ladies man.

@dc408dxnow: First night and we have the taxis out. And now they're about to find out that she had pissed on the other bed where Candace sleeps on. And now it's a bathroom.  #FloribamaShore

@dc408dxnow: Now this pee gate has become the talk of the house. And Kortni has no idea I'm sure that she has gotten this ride off to a wet start to say the least #FloribamaShore

@dc408dxnow: Now Kortni finding out that she peed in the bed when everyone else went out. And now we have a BBQ for their first dinner together

@dc408dxnow: Everyone having this bonding time, Jeremiah talks about being home schooled as we're learning about what's brought them here

@dc408dxnow: Nilsa about to tell them that she got married and then had a life-changing moment for her as she's afraid of opening up of what happened to her in a miscarriage. And then he cheats on her while being deployed. #FloribamaShore

@dc408dxnow: A slice of Real World making its way here to #FloribamaShore, with these people having gone through hardships of some sort and now ready to break out of their shell in a big way here.

@dc408dxnow: They're on the beach and ready to let loose this summer. And nothing like the sands of the sunshine state as the girls take that sip of the bubbly

@dc408dxnow: Kortni is letting loose after missing night 1. And now she's peeing in the beach. Well, we've seen that before in the Trifecta

@dc408dxnow: Now they're dressed up for a date night. I don't think we saw this much in seaside w/ these restaurants in town being dressed up. So this to me is a first

@dc408dxnow: Gus and Nilsa are on this date, and Jeremiah and Kortni are thinking of another date. So we have done vibes going on here

@dc408dxnow: Already we got some competition here for the attn of the house and it may be a love square by night's end

@dc408dxnow: Now, it's Jeremiah and Kortni's turn to go for a date. Well instantly we have some difference between this cast and their predecessors in its not all beach & party in this show

@dc408dxnow: We have Jeremiah having a bow tie and suspenders as if he's Urkel. And lots of laughs with this date.

@dc408dxnow: Kortni in bed and Jeremiah in there too with the hope that doesn't cause another piss in the bed.

@dc408dxnow: And the next morning: Kortni in bed with Jeremiah. And she's been in this scenario all episode long tonight.

@dc408dxnow: And she's wearing a lion suit as they now hear about what she's about. Now sleeveless flannels as they head out again

@dc408dxnow: I remember watching those spring breaks while I was young and they had those events here. Now they're getting down and especially Kortni

@dc408dxnow: Kortni is beyond hammered in making love with a swan in the pool. This is basically the same thing we saw with Angelina when they started this thing years ago. Now she's the outsider #FloribamaShore

@dc408dxnow: Candace now getting it on with a guy. This cast has a bit more diversity than their predecessors as they get to enjoy this night here

@dc408dxnow: And Kortni comes home hammered. And they're ordering pizza after they're closed. And we have our first appearance of the gator phone

@dc408dxnow: Nilsa now wanting Jeremiah. And now she's going for him.

@dc408dxnow: Now we meet Aimee from small town Alabama. And ready for a pedicure for the first time in her whole life. And the guys are on the beach doing work on the sand

@dc408dxnow: The guys getting to know the girls well, and the ladies are just relaxing as their feet are getting a massage

@dc408dxnow: Friday night on the town and a bit more packed than they were the other night. And now Nilsa and her friends join the party.

@dc408dxnow: A girl takes Gus aside and now the girls are irate about that mean move. Kortni now on Nilsa's side and…

@dc408dxnow: Things were calm and cool and fun earlier. And now after a couple dates and real talk, things are about to get a bit lit on a Friday night in #FloribamaShore.

@dc408dxnow: The guys getting to know the locals and Gus kisses one girl. And this guy looks like Vince from Challenge and Tyler from AYTO 5.

@dc408dxnow: Nilsa apologizes for what she did, as Gus and Jeremiah are in the gym. And we must mention that one of the guys here went to high school w/ Hunter from AYTO/CHAL, so there is that pedigree here in the new Shore

@dc408dxnow: Aimee and Jeremiah had a blowup and now she's gonna have a smoke break

@dc408dxnow: Club night. And Gus again grinding and getting close to a girl. And is that the same Kayla we saw earlier?

@dc408dxnow: Kayla is 30? Well, we've seen everything tonight w/ him making out w/ someone who is a doctor at that age. And they're gonna defend that ground

@dc408dxnow: They've come home along with Kayla and it could be a long night here

@dc408dxnow: The day after, and Codi wants to get in on the drama.

@dc408dxnow: Codi lit a fuse to a rocket that's about to maybe blow off at the end of a nice first two hours in #FloribamaShore.

So, quite a beginning for our new bunch. We saw Kortni do what Kailah did back on Invasion in treating her room as her own toilet among many things we saw from her during these first two hours. We had Kayla Jo invade the space of the house just after she got close to Gus in the clubs, and saw Codi display his American pride in his underwear... he and Keith of AYTO 6 have suddenly become cousins. We had two dinner dates that saw half the house dress up, and saw Nilsa open up about the tough upbringing she has had, which certainly makes these people that much more relatable.

Now, we were going to feature a recap of those episodes for you here on our all-in-one post, but due to the length of that - and with respect to those of you who check us out on mobile, we'll save you the expense of that as that'll be on the WRAP later this weekend. As for now, coming up we'll focus in on Week 2 of The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars, as the headliner of the Stars decides to take on the establishment that may find themselves in a bit of trouble.
