How's it going everyone? Welcome again to DC SocialPulse, and another special, extended edition. And after our last DCSP covered this week's Are You The One? and the taping of their reunion last weekend, today we present a double feature to cover not just this week's wild episode of Real World Ex-Plosion & it's After Show, but also the debut of the trailer for The Challenge: Free Agents.

   First up, the legacy series, and last week in the City by the Bay, we saw Jenny go HAM on Brian, Jamie stirring up drama between Jay & Jenna, and Hailey & Jenny hang out with the same German. This week, it's Episode 9 and with the title "Indecent Ex-posure," we will see Hailey's unproven love for Tom blow up, literally, in the second big fight in a week in the house. The cheating ways of Jay in San Francisco are exposed when Jenna finds a online video of him hanging out with another girl. And much to Jenny's displeasure, an unlikely bromance develops between Cory and Brian.

   Following my view of this crazy Real World episode, and what has undoubtedly been a busy week with everyone now knowing why many of my good twitter friends didn't wish me happy birthday last November - and this super fan starting the buzz by posting a few pics of the cast on IG, we'll then take the Pulse of the trailer of The Challenge: Free Agents with the excitement before and after it was released by both cast and fans, followed by my commentary on it.

@dc408dxnow: They're now at the club and Tom is dancing w/ girls and Hailey is now getting it on with him while being inebriated. Jamie's not having it.

@dc408dxnow: As Tom is back at the table, Jamie is not happy about him and Hailey getting it on in the club, this as they're back home. #RealWorld

@dc408dxnow: In the patio, Tom, Cory and Jamie are there and the guys are trying to get into it, while Hailey is just listening.

@dc408dxnow: Now it's moved into the bedroom, and Tom is wanting the exes to go home, and doesn't understand the idea of all this. Now it's on.

@dc408dxnow: And now @haileychivers lands a good one on @ThomasBuellMTV, and @JamieChinaMTV is just watching on the sidelines. It is on now. #RealWorld

@dc408dxnow: And then after all that, now it's @MTVCoryWharton @BrianTWillJr who are getting into words here. More fireworks might be ahead. #RealWorld

@dc408dxnow: And Hailey is telling her grandma that if she stays in the city, she's planning to make things worse for Tom. Ah, the drama!

@dc408dxnow: Another great episode of #RealWorldExPlosion, everything's getting juicer and juicer as we head towards the homestretch. And I love it.

The Wrap

Now to the Wrap...and instead of recapping things in chronological order, we will highlight the key storylines of this wild episode. As we talked about last week, there is something sort of mesmerizing to me watching the love triangle of Jamie, Thomas and Hailey, and we saw more of that unfold this week, albeit one of an explosive nature. Since she moved in, Tom and Hailey have stayed distant, but that changed this week.

   For a night out, Hailey has a bit too much to drink and starts dancing with the roomies. Rather than try to get her away from it, Tom then twerks for a few moments before heading off. As what we saw last time, Jamie is not having any of it being angry Hailey is still clinging onto her boyfriend. When he gets back at the table, Jamie then gets frustrated about it. And then when they head home, Tom, Jamie and Cory are on the patio and the guys are trying to get into it, while Hailey is just listening to it.

   Tom ultimately makes the decision to tell Hailey that she wants her gone. She confesses to trying to avoid him in the house, but with the living situation the way it is, it's becoming more tough. Tom feels that the exes have wreaked havoc on his experience in the city, and it angers Hailey. It leads to, for the 2nd straight week, a good old-fashioned fight in the house as Hailey backhands Tom then shoves him. I'm sure producers heard the outrage over production not stepping in during the Nia/Averey fight, so they added a security guard into the house, and that guard had to step in between those two, just like last week. And Jamie is just watching it on the sidelines while brushing her teeth. After all that, the rest of the group talks to Hailey, then she calls her grandma back home in the Metroplex. And she tells her that if she stays in the city, she's planning to make things even worse for Thomas.

For what's going on with Jay and Jenna, it took until last week's and this week's episodes for us to see drama unfold between them. Last week, it was Jamie who backed Jenna when Jenna didn't want to go off on Jay for him cheating on her. And while Jenna starts to think that Jay isn't hiding secrets from her, she does not know there is video evidence of him hooking up with another girl in the city.

   For the first time, roommates have been given smartphones to primarily shoot videos and take photos (but not post them socially) which could then potentially be used on the show. So while Jenna was out on a walk with Hailey, Jay was just going to the computer to check his email when all of a sudden, he finds a video file on the desktop of him hanging out with a girl while he was in the city before Jenna moved in, and became very worried. He acknowledges that he must've done something very wrongly and feels the need to let Jenna know about this video which could decide the fate of their relationship.

    Production actually did send the video to them, but Arielle decides to delete it to avoid problems. But, just as she did in intervening last week, Jamie lets Jenna know about it when they're on the treadmill, and then they meet Jay back home. When Jay himself goes out to the gym, Jenna finds the video again and emails the video back to production as Jamie and Hailey watch. And then when he gets home, Jenna finally has the opportunity to question him about that video, and Jay comes clean to her about it. And when he does get on the desktop, he brings up that video, and he knows he is in very deep trouble with Jenna. Jenna does get the opportunity to confront him about that clip and for lying to her, and acknowledges that there's still trust issues with them.

In my post looking at memories of the Rivals II cast last year, we talked about the unlikely bromance between Leroy & MikeMike on RW Back to Las Vegas. The bromance we are seeing in San Francisco this season might not come close to matching that myself, but it feels a bit more complicated and tense than the one we had three years ago, but still is something I didn't expect. When the exes moved in, I sensed that there would be tension among the originals and the exes, and you can be lucky if you're Arielle & Ashley C; everyone else has dealt with drama with their exes while they've been just enjoying that pizza

   This episode began with Brian and the three musketeers, Cory, Brian & Jay, talking to each other, and also getting along as well...perhaps that guys' night out really bonded 3M and Brian. And then, Cory isn't just not getting into a fight with Brian, they also go to the gym, the Subway shop and even talk science among one another. This is the exact opposite and the worst possible scenario coming true of what Jenny wanted when the exes moved in; she had wanted Cory and Brian to hate each other instead of enjoying each other's company, and with them not fighting even one moment during this entire time, she is totally not happy about it. She contends that the Cory/Brian friendship is just for show, but Jay believes the guys are doing what they can to make sure they enjoy being in the city.

   And with what we saw with the group going out to explore this great city of ours, and even passing by the original RW San Francisco house by Lombard Street, there seems to also be a continental divide emerging too. In spite of the exes still there of Ashley C., Jenna, Hailey and Brian being hard at work of working with the original roommates on their relationships, they've not been able to break the bond of the OG's. This might as well set the table for the fights that may come in the homestretch.

THE CHALLENGE: FREE AGENTS TRAILER

And now, the second part. As you saw here on this blog on Monday, I was actually the first fan to post on Instagram pictures of the cast of The Challenge: Free Agents in the early hours of the morning, just after the MTV.com mobile site accidentally leaked the pictures early. And while I'm not one who would want to start any drama, I did help lit the fuse to the rocket that is the upcoming Challenge season. 

   Well, it became official when the trailer for Free Agents debuted on Wednesday. While it's relatively short by our usual standards, about one minute plus an extra :30 promo seen during Wednesday's Real World episode compared with the customary two minutes, it does promise lots of what we come to expect from a Challenge season when it starts up on April 10th, which is a day later than usual on a Thursday. Okay so, it was only one-minute for the trailer (usually they're 90 seconds to two minutes), plus an extra 30-second action-packed promo. But unlike other fans who might've been disappointed in wanting to see more from this season, those two clips do suffice for me and my excitement for this upcoming Challenge. I'm gonna be talking about it in more depth & detail in my Primer & Preview coming up in no short order, but I do take TJ Lavin's word about it: this 25th season of The Challenge should be the best one yet. I was only reintroduced to this Challenge world on the heels of my first summer in the twitter world and after the London Olympics, and had upgraded to the status of an advanced fan with last year in Thailand & Rivals II. Now having enjoyed a great Real World season and having spent the last month watching the Sochi Olympics & Paralympics, again I'll be carrying momentum into this Challenge. And this season promises to deliver what we all expect from a great season: exciting competition, great people, conflict, drama, and huge twists, and even more.

Well, that is that. We'll be getting our coverage of this Challenge started in no short order with our Primer & Preview (with my thoughts on this season) and Who Are These Rookies so we can make sure that you, the avid Challenge fan, know who the newcomers are before the season begins. As we wrap up, a few reminders...
