As we begin the fall cycle of covering MTV Reality, very soon DCBLOG will post its 800th overall article - another milestone for a site that signed on in the summer of 2013 and has devoted time, effort and resources to covering your favorite reality shows. And, we've just posted our 200th article of 2018 here - as continue to cover all the episodes, offer the Pulse of the moments that get us talking, and offering our distinctive angle on the shows you love and the people who star in them... and sometimes, featuring fans just like you who help drive the conversation beyond the episodes.
A year ago while we were fixated on The Challenge XXX, posts on social media were brought to our attention about something unique and offbeat that was taking place on the outskirts of New York City in the New Jersey suburb of Secaucus. There, we discovered a fan from that town who met the Dirty 30 cast before it premiered last year, Andres Rodriguez, and traced his MTV Reality fandom all the way to the backyard of his own house, and perhaps the most unique thing we have ever uncovered in our five years... and one of our most popular stories.
There, he invited high school friends, both those who he knew and who the competitors had ties to, as they competed in a Challenge-like series created for his YouTube channel but inspired by the shows they watch each week, like you and us. Using his strong videography skills and taking the competitions we watch each week to his backyard, The Caucus Challenge created a stir in his hometown, his high school and elsewhere. And when we featured it on here last year, Andres was deeply impacted by how his work got our recognition and made getting through a tough freshman year in college easier to take.
During the week that the current MTV Challenge season of Final Reckoning debuted back in July, we did a follow-up on the latest season of Caucus Challenge: there, Dre upgraded the series to have the same graphical style that the MTV show has, as Season 8: Deception saw Challengers tested to their limit and having to evade every twist thrown at them and sacrifice what they got to win it all. In the end, rookie Sergio Castillo bested a field of rookies, several veterans and past champions to emerge victorious to take the trophy.
At the end of our bit covering Deception, Andres teased to everyone that the latest season of The Caucus Challenge would come earlier than you think... Now comes that next chapter: Prime Revival.
Prime Invasion represents season 9 of The Caucus Challenge, one that is different from the others that came before it. The synopsis in the trailer reads, "16 memorable underdogs have come to earn their stripes and prove that they’ve got what it takes to become a Champion. Each underdog is here for their own reason, whether it may be a shot at redemption, earning their stripes, causing drama, being a fan of the game, or making an impact on the series. Everyone is here for themselves and not one Champ is in their way this time. Who will rise and who will fall? Welcome to The Caucus Challenge Prime Revival."
Invasion of the Champions on MTV's Challenge itself brought eighteen underdogs together in a beach-side hut that almost looked like a run down picnic area in the local park as they fought for a chance to head to the Oasis and the merge with the Champions... eventually, Ashley M. emerged victorious to rule for the underdog field. That, along with what we've seen on Caucus, provides inspiration for the sixteen competitors to try and be champions... and there won't be any previous champs who will rain on their parade, but as the premiere episode will attest - and like what we saw in the Vendettas final, they will have to go through them to get their shot at being first time champs.

● ALEX (4th Season): She’s back! Time after time Alex has been stabbed in the back AND front. Coming in as a vet everyone knows who she is and her capabilities. On her last season, no one hesitated to vote her out as soon as the horn sounded. “This season is gonna be played very differently.” Will Alex survive this season or will the others unite once again to send her packing?
● ISAAC (2nd Season): “This season I’m coming different. Nobody’s my friend.” On Isaac’s rookie season he was crossed time after time, sent into eliminations but he survived. Winning 2 eliminations earning his stripes! Unfortunately he had the brawn and stomach, but not the brains, and was sent home. Now that he’s back nothing can stop him from making the Final.. well except maybe riddles.
● MOLLY (2nd Season): The “Dark Horse” has returned and this time nothing’s stopping her. This is Molly’s 2nd season and she’s learned the ropes of the game. “I’m back and don’t underestimate me.” Does Molly have what it takes to be a champ or will the chances of that title be stripped away once again?
● OSCAR (4th Season): After politicking his way to the top last season (Deception) and being eliminated right before the Final, the Pop off king is back. Ready for whatever comes his way. “Vote me in, I’m going to try my hardest. Do what’s best for your game and I’ll do what’s best for mine.” Will Oscar finally make a final or will he be sent packing once again?
● SKYLAR (2nd Season): On Skylar’s rookie season she made big moves voting and crossing Champs into elimination, sending them packing. She also took a couple hits herself. Literally body slammed into the ground. Coming back, she knows what has to be done to make it to that Final. Will Skylar make it to the Final or will a riddle get in her way?
● MICHEAL (2nd Season): Micheal is back, and better than ever! It’s been a while since we’ve seen Micheal on the #Caucuschallenge and a lot has changed. Let’s see if the regulars welcome him back with open arms or turn him away with the rest of the newbies...
● JESSIE (3rd Season): When this OG returns things get a bit heated. Making it to the Final on her rookie season and quitting, Jessie redeemed herself on the Badblood season. With new faces comes new drama, and Jessie is here to stand her ground & put the rookies in their spots. Will Jessie finally become a champ or will she let personal issues cost her game?
● CHRIS (2nd Season): Making a return is Chris! Last time we saw Chris he was blindsided and sent home on his rookie season “New Gen.” After a couple of seasons he’s back and ready to take down anyone is his way! Will Chris make a stand or will he sit the bench and watch the others take the title and prize?
● TORI (3rd Season): Back on her rookie season, “Spring Break” Tori won competition after competition earning her stripes and controlling the game. She made it to the final and got 2nd place. On “Invasion” her luck couldn’t help her and she was the first girl eliminated. Now she’s back and ready to make that Final. “I missed out last season, I want to compete again and win!” Will Tori relive her rookie experience or will she relive being eliminated first?
● ANTHONY R. (2nd Season): On his rookie season Anthony managed to fly under the radar and be the only guy in the final along with 4 girls. Will Anthony make it to his 2nd final and become a champ or will he leave empty handed once again?
● SYDNEY (Rookie): In a pit full of snakes, is it possible to not be bit? Sydney is a fan of the #caucuschallenge and has been waiting for her time to shine. The only problem is, she’s surrounded by some of the shadiest, cutthroat players. “I’m excited to be here, I think I’ll do just fine.” Will Sydney prove that even the nice ones can last or will the snakes take a strike at this fresh-meat?
● TONY (Rookie): Fan favorite is back! Last minute Tony had to drop from last seasons #caucuschallenge Deception. He promised he’d be back and take the dub home for himself and the fans. “Wooo I’m back baby! I’m going to win this time!” With that attitude nothings impossible! Will Tony make nice this season or will his outside the game relationships cut his game short?
● HAILEY (Rookie): We’ve got a rookie in town. Hailey’s here to compete and win that Final, but will aligning herself with the “enemy” put a target on her back? “I’m nervous but, I’m gonna do whatever I have to do to win.” Will Hailey be the rookie of the season or will her kindness be taken as a weakness?
● BRIANNA (Rookie): I know what you’re thinking, “OMG YES DESTINY’S BACK!” Not exactly... Welcome to the #CaucusChallenge Bri. Being a rookie on the challenge is hard enough, but being a rookie and the sister to last seasons Champ (Destiny) is even harder. Coming into the game Bri has a target on her back because of personal issues having to do with her sister and some of the other cast mates. Can Brianna silence the haters and defend the title of a champ or will all the drama crack this rookies spirit?
● AMANDA U. (Rookie): Outside of the #CaucusChallenge Amanda is known for being very competitive and aggressive. Coming in strong can go one of two ways... Will this gain her allies this season or will she be seen as a threat?
● CARLOS/"CUBA" (Rookie): Being a fan of the show, Cuba has come to compete and show the vets what he’s made of. Does Cuba have what it takes to make it past the first competition or is he here for a good time not a long one?
As for what you can expect this season, the twists and turns will be aplenty: starting with the aforementioned visit from the champs who won't join them in the field, but will sure set the tone for the rest of the season. From the same kind of politics we've been seeing in the first half of Final Reckoning, to the wildness that awaits the small few who are lucky enough to make it all the way to the end, and everything that takes place in between... it sure looks that Andres has hit a home run with Prime Revival. We've embedded the entire season for you to enjoy... check it out for yourself.
