DC ExtraTime: A Dirty 30 New York Weekend

Welcome back one more time this time to our look Inside the MTV Trifecta as we conclude a packed week of posts ahead of tomorrow's new episode of The Challenge XXX and the premiere on Wednesday night of Are You The One? Season 6. This past week's episode of Dirty 30 was focused for the first two-thirds of it by the events that took place when Camila went on a drunken rampage towards the show's most beloved man Leroy, and has changed everyone's perceptions of her in the snap of a finger. And in the last third of last week, there was a great elimination battle in the Presidio that saw alliance members Hunter and Nelson square off and saw the ladder win, as did fellow AYTO Season 3 alum Britni over Nicole.
Because of a special, extended edition of the WRAP that covered Camila's behavior and the effects the Young Bucks' back to back eliminations have on this game, we've decided to move the ExtraTime bit which usually punctuates our weekly episode coverage, to its own post to wrap up a busy week on here, and in the interest of those of you who check us out on mobile. And after the jump, we'll head to New York to spend a weekend with this season's cast in taping the reunion and meeting one of their biggest fans.

Over a week ago, virtually all of the Dirty 30 cast - save for Camila and LaToya - traveled to New York City to partake in the season-ending festivities for this landmark season of The Challenge XXX. This includes the main event of the weekend and the reason why they all made their way to the Big Apple: the Reunion special which was taped on Friday of that weekend, and for which we here at DCBLOG plan to punctuate our coverage of this season with a special one-time-only return of DC FORUM: Reunion Revealed after it airs later on this fall.
Through the platforms of Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat, just as we did with the VMA's we'd like to share with you some of their moments here.

As we wrote in our look back at memorable ExtraTime stories before this season began, DCBLOG sometimes spotlights fans just like you who have been touched by the MTV Trifecta and the people who are part of this special community. In this case, three people had the chance to meet up with the cast when they were in the Big Apple: one who we'll have on here again for our reunion post soon, another who also went to that taping and was inspired to do his own Challenge series with some friends which we'll also showcase later on; and a third person whose is our focus here.

During that first summer of me following The Real World through the Twitter spectrum in 2012, I got to discover a fan from New York City named Clarence Pryor. He is a native of Staten Island who now calls Greensboro, NC his place of residency, and who is definitely extraordinary.
Like me, he's an avid enthusiast in that part of the sports world which comes into American consciousness every two years: the Olympic world. And he is a swimmer who's had the chance to meet, interact and adore those who take to the water and enthrall the world every four years, from the man who swam the second leg of that epic Beijing relay Garrett Weber-Gale to the one who called that race and so many others the past five Games including Michael Phelps' entire Olympic run -- and with of course great enthusiasm, NBC swimming analyst and '84 gold medalist Rowdy Gaines.
Clarence is also anything but your usual swimmer: he's gay and lives with autism. For the former, the LGBT community has been in the news a lot the past year, and his state has been at the center of debate surrounding state law HB2. It's the "bathroom bill" which disenfranchises transgenders and has cost North Carolina a number of high-profile sports events and respect among groups who side with gays and lesbians. And he and my family know what it's like to live with people in our families who are autistic: it is not an easy task to deal with that condition, something that's also the case with Alex from Siesta Key, whose family also includes a son who has autism as well.

Despite all that, Clarence has no doubt become one of the biggest fans in The Challenge/Real World franchise, and he has had ample time to send tweets to his castmates on Twitter, discuss them on his YouTube channel and even call in a few times to Andrew Kirk's podcast. But he had not had a chance to meet a cast member from those shows... until Dirty 30 reunion weekend in New York.
That all changed when he met who he no doubt his favorite Challenge competitor, Johnny Bananas, and the one who was his right-hand man on a number of those seasons, Kenny Santucci. Below is a video of that awesome meeting, which was featured in the Banana man's Instagram story and no doubt is the biggest day ever for Clarence.

And with this, the seventh post DCBLOG has posted here in the past week, that will - at last - wrap up this week's look at Dirty 30 and the MTV Trifecta. We are now on the edge of going into overdrive and kicking off a busy slate of blog coverage covering not just the business half of this Challenge, but also starting up our sixth season of Are You The One? from New Orleans.
DCNOW at @DC408DxNow will have a busy slate of live tweeting coming up here in not only doing The Challenge and AYTO, but also tomorrow night's special episode of Fear Factor that comes on before the Redemption House's second chance, but also Siesta Key, Dare to Live - and a new show which I'm looking forward to watching this fall. The name of that show will be revealed after Terrence J. conducts the season's first Matchup in NOLA on Wednesday, and that show will be discussed in the next installment of The Look shortly thereafter.
And after we give fans the chance to catch up on the episodes after they air starting tomorrow, we'll be back on here this weekend for our expanded Trifecta coverage, and again be sure to bookmark this site for all the 'Pulse play by play, analysis and opinions in the weekly WRAP, and our unique look at the people and stories of the Trifecta on ExtraTime with compelling stories still to come on here. And when you can, help spread the word of DCBLOG and tell a friend and fellow MTV fans about us and introduce them to the outstanding coverage this site offers.

That is how we look at it Inside the MTV Trifecta... thank you for checking us out. Until tomorrow, have a great week ahead, see you then and welcome to the autumn. And enjoy the show.
