After a stunning late rally and the Chiefs taking down the Patriots on banner night in Foxboro, America's most-popular sport begins action for real this weekend. And as football fans get settled in, the fifth major pro sport is now at its halfway mark as DCBLOG welcomes you again to our look Inside the MTV Trifecta, and Week 8 of The Challenge XXX: Dirty 30, as a chaotic and frenetic season is heating up and picking up the pace as the seasons change.
   Last week down in Colombia, Aneesa was at the heart of the drama for two reasons: first, a night of getting cozy with another fellow original and veteran Challenger, Veronica; and then making a scene by faking an injury to her ankle, just before she was voted into elimination. That came after a mission where everyone had to utilize their memory to figure out every season of The Challenge and saw not only them becoming kids playing a game from elementary school but also seeing a girl and a pole make love as they tried to hang by a harness.
   This week - and in one of those odd but seems to now be a standard scenarios this season, we begin with two members of the underdog alliance known better as Young Bucks, being forced to face off in elimination - just as it was for the one who won a previous Presidio that pitted their equivalent on the female side. Then comes the latest chapter in what is TJ Lavin's favorite challenge and the subject of our ExtraTime story earlier this week: trivia. And after another night of partying, what happens when two Challengers find themselves in the line of fire of a dirty, compromising position?

All the action, reaction and interaction of this episode is coming up here, along with that last blast of summer over the Labor Day weekend - including who has joined the Team Jailah bandwagon. And afterwards, we'll catch up with someone who we saw just for a brief time back in Thailand and in Seattle, but now has her sights set on joining the world of YouTube personalities.
   Challenge trivia, another alliance broken up in the Presidio, another one of those jaw-dropping moments, and Ask Anika... It's all ahead on the DCBLOG 'Pulse of The Challenge XXX.

So, in the battle of the Young Bucks, it's Hunter who came away victorious, as Cory continues a run of bad luck, you might say, on these Challenges… though a second chance awaits him. We had a game of trivia which once again tested everyone's brains, saw TJ Lavin become - as we wrote on Wednesday - a quiz master and a scientist, and saw players help reprise my memories of watching Olympic diving last year. And for the ones who came away victorious in Tony and Camila, they had their moment once again on the bus, and that kiss. We'll have more on that and all of this coming up on the WRAP coming up for you later on, as we're now at the halfway point of Season 30.

ASK ANIKA

It seems that the buzz of the moment among those who call themselves part of Team MTV has been of some launching a series on YouTube, and after our look at Episode 8 here and in our WRAP it is the focus of ExtraTime this weekend. We begin with someone who we last saw earlier this year for three total episodes but someone who is idolizing the queen of daytime talk.

   Eleven months ago, we were introduced to the cast of Real World Bad Blood in Seattle... well, one of them wasn't exactly a newbie to the Trifecta - of course, that was Magic Mike. But, we also got to know a couple often feuding sisters, a man who won a half million for running through a maze, and a football player whose NFL dreams died when he was arrested for marijuana when he alleges that it was his cousin who did so.

   And then after a month's sojourn a couple of them made their way to Thailand for The Challenge Invasion as a couple underdogs who had to put up with those less than lavish conditions known as the Shelter. As expected for first time rookies and unlike what happened with Ammo, they were in and out early, and in week 2's elimination one of them flamed out dramatically as Theo was the latest to get rapped by TJ Lavin for quitting.

The other was someone who was a victim of Jenna's elimination mastery, and is our focus here: Anika. We saw her in Seattle as one of the two roommates whose bad blood counterpart was an ex in ex boyfriend Will. She wasn't featured as much last year while everyone else was stealing the buzz in the Pacific Northwest, and then she gave it a battle with the Barbie Beast in that second elimination in week 3 on Invasion.

   For most of this time since then, Anika has been working hard targeting this time of the year, when all the months of planning, filming and traveling (including moving from New York City to Los Angeles) has led to the release of the first episode of her Ask Anika series. First planned to be a TV talk show, it evolved into a digital series which debuted last week in an extension of her AskAnika.com site. There, she plans to tackle the world of love, go on trips around the world, and even have some food too.

   Below is the first episode of Ask Anika, as she takes for a ride along Venice Beach and gets a chance to sample the cuisine of Thailand where she had that short Challenge stint. Perhaps, this is the start of something big for her, and perhaps we may see her on her own TV series or become the next YouTube star. Before we leave you for now - and with less than two weeks until we say hello to Team MTV's newest newbies, we'd like to send congrats to Are You The One? original and local news journalist Kayla Lusby from the Season 1 cast. Over the Labor Day weekend in some time off from her new assignment at NBC affiliate WMC-TV 5 in Memphis, TN, she and her boyfriend Brock ventured south to her alma mater Ole Miss and the football team's season opener.
   Shortly after the Rebels' 47-27 win over South Alabama of the Sun Belt Conference, in a lit up circle he knelt down, popped open a engagement ring and proposed, and through an Instagram post she announced, "Yes, a thousand times yes!" with an engagement ring emoji. A few of her AYTO alumni were quick to send their congrats, including her best friend in that mansion in Kauai and the one who was her perfect match after that love triangle with them and Ryan.

As for now, ahead on the WRAP we'll look at the biggest moments of the past four weeks of Dirty 30, and offer more on that hookup with Tony and Camila. Then, they are the latest Trifecta couple with a guy we just saw for the first time all season and a girl who you might've seen at a big event just recently.... we'll venture over to Sin City to live the life of the couple known simply as "DNA."

However, there is something of a greater and more important impact going on in Florida and much of the East Coast being affected by Hurricane Irma, and recovery efforts continuing in Texas after the unspeakable tragedy of Hurricane Harvey. Some of our MTV colleagues have ties to both Houston and Florida, while Jacy from AYTO Season 1 is a native of Puerto Rico which was in Irma's line of destruction, as is the U.S. Virgin Islands which hosted Marie's Real World St. Thomas season.

   The American Red Cross is accepting donations to help offer emergency support to victims of these disasters at its website www.redcross.org, at 1-800-RED-CROSS and by texting either IRMA or HARVEY to 90999 and make a $10 donation. Every dollar counts as those working on the ground continue their work around the clock when this help is most needed, and our thoughts are with everyone affected by these tragedies as well as the Mexican earthquake. If you want to do your part, it would be of the utmost importance.
