On Wednesday, September 20th - exactly seven days from tonight, we will begin Season 6 of Are You The One?, and for the first time this series will take place in the continental U.S. mainland and in a city that knows how to throw a party and with a lifestyle all its own: New Orleans, LA -- two-time host city of The Real World and, of course, home to the madness of Mardi Gras. The backdrop may have changed from the tropical paradises of the first five seasons to the charm, elegance, warm hospitality and vibrancy of one of America's greatest cities. What's not changed is the big time drama, awesome people, debauchery galore and high stakes that we come to expect from MTV's special brand of reality TV, as well as the romantic matchmaking and dating fest this show is known for.
Since that memorable first season of three years ago, we have seen everything on AYTO: epic hookups, dramatic breakups, jaw-dropping truth booths and matchup ceremonies, memorable romances including a perfect match who eventually became not only husband and wife but also mommy & daddy, and so much more. That also includes the shocking end result of Season 5 earlier this spring, where one girl's choice of following her heart was the difference in her cast being the first ever to not have the result the first four that proceeded them had: winning the jackpot that awaited them if they had lit up all the lights in the 10th and last matchup ceremony.
With that gut-wrenching moment still fresh in the minds of fans as well as the Second Chances spinoff which reaffirmed a puppet master's pure genius and added more to the allure of a blonde lady who's been tearing it up so far in Colombia, we have arrived in NOLA to begin anew, once again, another quest for love and money. And hope lies again in the hands of another group of 22 castmates -- more than the usual number of 20 -- and so much to live up to and with their work cut out, as we head towards next week's premiere. And as always, our cast is a very awesome group who've been put together with the hope that they can find their perfect match.

THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS
First, we begin in usual DCBLOG manner with what is a signature feature of this site and for which gives this page its unique standing in the blogosphere. We are the MTV world's only website to devote entire weekly posts to the buzz from social media of the casts as they watch the episodes of Are You The One? and MTV reality series through Twitter. DC SocialPulse will again cover all the action, reaction and interaction from each of the ten weeks of this love fest as the cast sees it each weekend as part of our weekly look Inside the MTV Trifecta, which also includes the current season of The Challenge XXX, as well as Champs vs. Stars later this autumn.
We post the Pulse diaries just a few days after the episodes airs on MTV in the U.S. to allow fans everywhere a chance to watch the episodes either live or on demand, and then join us here for our unique, acclaimed look at AYTO and the Trifecta -- compiled while you are catching up. And yes, for our international fans it does include spoilers, but rest assured you won't miss a moment as we will archive these messages in 140 characters or less for all of you to see how our set of 22 singles saw every truth booth, challenge, date and matchup. WHAT TO EXPECT
AYTO has weekly getaway challenges of both the athletic and casual variety which helps determine which pairs win themselves a date outside the house with the person they choose, which brings them on to luxurious and adventurous settings around their surroundings. While they are going on that date, back home those who don't win will then decide who to vote into the Truth Booth: the only way that a perfect match can be validated. If it is the case and the lasers inside that small room agree, a spot in the Honeymoon Sites will await them, far from the drama and party atmosphere of the house and bringing the castmates closer to completing their puzzle.
Lastly, there's the Matchup Ceremony, where they'll gather on the patio to choose who they feel are their perfect match by locking into a match machine. It's known to this site at the Theater of Dreams as light beams will determine the house's fate each week. It can be of despair as to what happened on the most recent matchup in the last week of Season 5, or optimism if they get a descent amount or an increase of their chances. But the goal they have in mind is simple: if all of the lights are lit, the cast will fly out of New Orleans $1 million richer, $50K per person. They'll have just 10 tries to attain that number or else get doomed with what happened earlier this spring.
But since we saw the original first season take the money fairly easily in taking just nine tries to win, things have been made difficult for each succeeding the cast to get there: if the cast blacks out in a matchup and gains no lights, they will lose money from their $1 million jackpot: it has happened four times since the first one on Season 2. Last season, there was the introduction of a truth booth trade-in, an offer to add more money to the jackpot in exchange for swapping out the results of one truth booth and potentially saving the house from a no-match in additional cash. And also earlier this year, the number of castmates have increased from the original number of 20 to 22 - and it makes the number of couples and the number of lights 11... thus, it'll take 11 for 11 for cash and confetti, instead of 10 for 10 as in the first four seasons. Expect these twists to continue in New Orleans along with other ones we don't know about just yet.
And just in case you haven't figured out by now - and as we discussed here back in July, there is someone new but familiar taking over the hosting gig for AYTO: the man who hosted the After Show and Reunion for Season 5 earlier this year, Terrence J., will take over for Ryan Devlin as the show's MC. He adds this gig to having just hosted Safeword this summer, the VMA's Red Carpet and the Friday weigh-in for the Mayweather/McGregor fight to his stellar resume, which also includes not only BET's 106 & Park but also hosting Mark Burnett's romantic series Coupled last year.
Terrence talked to MTV.com about how became host, what he does and a little tease: "They didn't call me to be a part of it, I called them and I was like, 'Look yo, ya'll need me up in there. This show was poppin', and I want to be a part of this. I want to hold around a million dollars briefcase. You know, the $1 million is in a briefcase that I hold around - people don't know that, fun fact. And people also don't know, I'm also the first host to sleep in the house with the people... so I'm sleeping on the couch the whole. It's crazy. You gotta tune in, it's gonna be the craziest season of Are You The One? ever."
As we have seen here many times over 50 episodes, anything can happen and anything is possible: this show has seen many relationships blossom and crumble, from Shanley & Chris T. on Season 1 to Cameron & Mikala from Season 4. Others are still going strong in Gianna & Hayden of last season, Stephen & Julia from last year, Zak & Hannah of Season 3 and, of course, Season 1 originals Amber & Ethan who then got married and then became parents. And we've seen 18 alums make the jump to The Challenge -- all on the suggestion made by this blogger's closest Twitter friend Andrew Kirk. What will Season 6 bring us? It awaits us starting in a week from now, but now let's...

And it's as if she can't get out of it: when she dumps a bad boy another one will likely be on offer next. The goal for Alivia: find true love while also avoiding those who play her.
♥ ANTHONY Martin: His looks suggest he might be like the twin brother of Real World'er Jay or Cara Maria's cousin Jamie, but Anthony is a proud Latino who calls L.A. his casa. He also happens to live two lives: by day - a teacher for special needs children... by weekend, a party boy who loves to live it up. He's alright with pulling the ladies in, but when having flings with party girls aren't always the best relationship and he's too nice to break things off when he see signs that it's going south. For Tony, a stable relationship is what he needs to make sure things don't get out of hand.
♥ AUDREY Diaz: Audrey comes to us from north of NYC in the Hudson Valley, where she always gives it 110% in her relationships, but the return on investment in all of those have been broken hearts. She's smart and confident, and in every other scenario she would have no problem in being able to stand up for herself. However in love, Audrey always falls for flawed men and in those past relationships she's always had a tendency to romanticize things and forgive transgressions that she should've done. Now, the question is of whether she raises her standards and score that guy.
♥ CLINTON Moxam: With good lucks, charm and living by the Orlando beaches, it's no surprise that they call Clinton "Big Sexy" -- take those 250,000 who follow his Instagram. But don't let it fool you: he's no player, and he desperately wants to be a girl's boyfriend so much that often he gets forced into it and with the wrong lady, and it's the loyalty he has with her that keeps him there. For this model, Clinton comes to NOLA having had faulty relationships and now has eyes set on wanting to be strong enough to hang in for the long haul.
♥ DAVID Shad: For David Shad, or simply "The Shad," he may lack love skills but is not lacking on confidence. He always like to be perfect and sets enormously high expectations for himself, with a drive to win. That doesn't apply to love, where his desires have led him to chase his idea of what a perfect relationship with the perfect lady, which hasn't happened yet. Will the Shad finally lower his expectations to look for match? By the way, this diehard USC fan also amassed a stellar attendance record at big time award shows and meeting great people (more on those later).
♥ DIANDRA Delgado: New Jersey native Diandra always likes love, but she's always jumped into relationships with guys almost instantly: in a week's span, she can go from having a first date with a guy to being relationship ready. But her wanting to be in a relationship means she gives second chances too many and doesn't eye some major red flags. Now, will she learn to mellow out a bit and find her match here?
♥ DIMITRI Valentin: Dimitri has a nice, outgoing personality that makes him a guy's guy... actually, he's much more comfortable chillin' with the fellas than pouring his heart to a girl. That forms the root of what's brought him to AYTO: he has the confidence to approach the ladies but when it comes to expressing his feelings for her it actually leads him dumbfounded. And instead of putting himself out there for the females he then takes the low road to protect himself... now will he find a relationship that'll work? He's also gotten a chance to hang out with some fellow alumni too.
♥ ETHAN Cohen: The Bay Area's Wine Country may not be exactly a hip hop hotbed, but this is where talented rapper Ethan comes to us from. He's smooth with words — a rap in his SnapChat intro being a perfect example of what E-Money does best, and uses humor as a way to grab the ladies' attention... but that's where his love life reaches a dead end as it becomes a joke. The ladies fall for his confidence but he's a bit more insecure when it comes to the girls, and it ends up turning them off. Now, will Ethan be confident enough to grab his perfect match?
♥ GELES Rodriguez: A native of Texas Spring Break hotbed South Padre Island, Geles comes from a good family and has her sights set on building a strong one herself. As she makes her efforts to settle down, this one-time professional cheerleader tend to put her effort into meeting the expectations of her man and being the girl that he wants. Now, will Geles learn to just be just Geles and find the man who loves her for her, not for who she feels he wants her to be?
♥ JADA Allen: Hailing from Jersey, Jada hasn't always been the confident beauty that she is now. Even though she puts herself out there with assertion, Jada is always mindful that she's afraid of not being loved. The fear of letting others see the insecurities she has, she's always built a wall and her relationships haven't gone below the surface. The question now for Jada is whether she lets her guards down and find someone who loves for who she is.
♥ JOE Togerson: Portlander Joe grew up devoted to Jehovah's Witnesses, which left him guarded during his childhood. It's also left this guy who calls himself on Twitter "Goldilocks" ('cuz of his long hair) left him unready for the dating world's fast pace and after several bad relationships with girls -- including Taylor from last season(!) -- he got an idea of how tricky this world of dating is and what not to do. With this in mind, Joe knows he's in for a journey in trying to catch up with the dating pool, and hopes a girl who's patient enough can show him what real love is like.
♥ KAREEM Fathalla: A guy who's determined and driven, Jersey native Kareem is someone who doesn't back down from whatever challenge he's been given. This has helped him find success in the fitness world, but outside the gym it's caused some trouble for him. Kareem has had a tendency to fall fast and commit instantly, which has meant that he often finds himself with the wrong lady, and instead of finding out that he's with her he just continues to stick with her and his insecurity manifests as just jealousy. Now, can Kareem find confidence in someone in NOLA?
♥ KEITH Klebacher: From South Jersey, Keith knows exactly why he was brought to this show: he always goes for and dates girls who are literally crazy. If there's someone who always like to deceive, be outrageous and have stalker behavior teetering on the edge, then he will make his move on them almost at a split second. And then, Keith will find himself in that relationship feeling he can't bail out of it and trying whatever he can to fix an affair that's turned toxic. Will he finally break this bad cycle and score someone he can look forward to a good future ahead with?
♥ KEYANA Land: The caring soul and cherishing personality of Keyana is simultaneously her biggest strength and her greatest weakness. For this girl from north of Philly, she often finds herself attracted to "fixer-uppers" in dire need of help, but instead she often ignores her own needs entirely while she works word to support her man... and then so does he too. For Keyana, will she learn to appreciate the value she has and find that guy who'll give her as much as he takes?
♥ MALCOLM Drummer: A West Palm Beach native who's charming and also smart as an aspiring architectural engineer, Malcolm has luck on his side with the ladies, but when it comes to making it work relationship-wise... not so much to the point where he admits he's a work in process. Malcolm spent years doing the player ways in South Florida but not he's working hard and doing whatever he can to go from "thot" to "boyfriend material." And as we've seen many times, old habits can go away slowly. Now, will Malcolm go from player to boyfriend and commit to his match?
♥ MICHAEL Dean: A Tennessee native who now calls NYC home, Michael has an artist's soul that 207,000 IG followers agree are rugged good looks...so do his parents. Getting girls is no problem for Mike and when he and a girl he likes get together it's almost rushed. But, what he does tend to move more faster than his emotions and knows when to dump her when he has doubts. Michael will have to come to the realization that if he and his girl want to be together, then he'll have to lead with his emotions and let that relationship follow in those footsteps.
♥ NICOLE Spiller: New Englander Nicole is, as MTV calls her, "the queen of second, third, and fourth chances." Just as it was with Briana when we met her three years ago on Season 2, Nicole is in need to find her man, get hitched and then have kids so much, she just buckles in and not think of his weaknesses. And then, she'll keep giving him a benefit of the doubt hoping the guy she chose is who she wants. But if she can keep her excitement down, she may find a guy who can be there for the long haul. Nicole is also a good friend with Season 1 original Brittany after doing web videos together.
♥ NURYS Mateo: Coming to us from Portland, ME where Adam from RW Back to Vegas grew up, Nurys was unique in her childhood school as its only Dominican. For years, she was singled out for her race, and has since become well guarded and that's particularly the case in her love life. Nurys does what she can to not get hurt, but time after time she finds herself in the role of "side chick" with the hope she could become that number one. Will there be a guy in the house who will make Nurys priority when they meet here?
♥ TYLER Colon: SoCal native Tyler has three important attributes to impress the ladies: looks, charm and brains. Why has he made his way to Louisiana, you ask? It's after he bailed from his most recent bad relationship that he started do some second guessing, and it's his being afraid of getting heart broken again which has prevented him from making that commitment to her. Tyler can't seem to figure out that the connections he makes are good enough to make it a relationship that will last. Now, is he ready to head from friend zone to love?
♥ UCHE Nwosu: Uche was raised by Nigerian immigrants, and now calls home Grand Rapids, MI - home to Nate from Season 2. She's been driven to be successful in just about everything in her life... that doesn't include romance. And when it comes to love, it's the bad boys of players, musicians, athletes and the like who she goes for instead of those in professional day jobs who her parents want her to be with, and it's those guys who'll ultimately leave her heartbroken. Now, will she finally get that perfect match who's not a rebel?
♥ ZOE Pugh: Last but not least, there's Zoe from Scranton, PA, once named by Playboy Magazine(!) as being one of America's hottest college girls… but her dating life hasn't exactly lived up to being picture perfect. She's often fallen for guys who prefer not put a label on their relationship, and she herself can't make an assumption if her man is her boyfriend or if he's here for a "situationship." Zoe has come down to the Bayou with eyes towards a true relationship that she desires and perhaps to learn to come up with a definition for how her own relationship should be.
A WORD TO THE SS6
To our new cast, if we've not talked to each other yet, "Welcome to Team MTV" and strap in for the ride you are all about to embark on. The twenty-two of you got to film this season over the summer and you've all time to rest and relax after you got home from what is no doubt one of America's most awesome cities. But now, the real show is about to begin: the anticipation you have to what awaits is nothing like anything you've experienced in your lives, and it all culminates in seven days. After the trailer was released last week, I'm sure it's starting to sink in that this will be a journey you all will enjoy, with some bumps and perhaps some hate along the way too.
I've had the pleasure of following Are You The One? every step of the way since starting before Season 1 started airing three years ago, and I'm one of the show's biggest fans and proud to call some AYTO alumni good social friends of mine too. I look forward to talking and interacting with all of you socially during this season, and also covering it for this DCBLOG site which I take so much pride in. And I'm not alone: there's also so many fans who love this show too and look forward to talking to and perhaps meeting you as well as this season goes along.
To Alexis, Alivia, Anthony, Audrey, Clinton, David, Diandra, Dimitri, Ethan, Geles, Jada, Joe, Kareem, Keith, Keyana, Malcolm, Michael, Nicole, Nurys, Tyler, Uche and Zoe: good luck to all of you...you've all got my support. Tonight is the casting special for this new AYTO season with some familiar alumni from the show providing their own hot takes on this scorching hot cast, and DCNOW will have live tweets of that later at @DC408DxNow. Then, after we give those who didn't watch it live the time to catch up on it, we'll be with you over the weekend for our look at Episode 9 of The Challenge XXX - Dirty 30. To define the episode in a few words: controversial, eye-opening and thought-provoking.
