In a matter of hours from now, I will be in Las Vegas for the time of my life, part 7, in Sin City. But before Saturday evening comes, there's this DC SocialPulse diary to take care of as we look in on Episode 3 of Are You The One? Three. Through two episodes we've seen just about everything, and we do mean everything.
After Alec's kiss-fest and spin the bottle in the premiere, last week we saw Kiki and Devin be put through the ringer of the truth booth and emerge out as a non-perfect match much to the cast's shock, but stayed together in the house bringing back memories of Cranley and Bristina. But aside from a trip to the strip club and a revealing challenge, it didn't prepare the house for what happened at the week's Match-Up: an early blackout and them losing $250,000.
It's them dealing with that gut check that this week, we see of course all the aftermath from getting no matches quicker than any truth booth match in previous seasons. The gameplay is thrown for a loop by non-matches still not separating for the sake of the team and ultimately the house takes notice as the group tries to bounce back. And what happens when the girl half of the house's most notorious pair makes a play for the first AYTO castmate to enjoy home field advantage?
We'll have all the interaction from Episode 3, plus the lead-up and the aftermath for you here in what will be a one-post only review this week...the reasons are for obvious reasons as this fan is ready to head to Vegas tomorrow. But afterwards on ExtraTime, we'll catch up with a Real World & Challenge alum who's now following the footsteps of Nev & Max and helping with online romance.

DEVYN ON DATING
Seven years ago at this time, Real World Brooklyn was filming in the Big Apple, and only a handful had an idea of what kind of lasting impact the old school-styled season would have. RW 21 is best remembered for Army vet and Gettysburg resident Ryan Conklin being, by the fate of a lottery, being surprisingly recalled back into active duty on Veteran's Day and serving one more tour of duty in Iraq. Most notably from a broader standpoint, we saw a foreshadow of what would happen years later when Olympic champ & Kardashian patriarch Bruce Jenner transformed himself into a woman and became Caitlyn Jenner, which was the same story we saw in Brooklyn with Katelynn Cusanelli, also transgendered and who also went through that same ordeal which you can read about here.
After they left the house in Red Hook, we saw some of them on later Challenges and settled into lives outside the MTV cameras. As we told you here last year, Mr. Bow Tie Guy (and hardcore GOP supporter) Chet Cannon got hitched in front of his fellow castmates in Salt Lake City. Of course earlier this year, Sarah Rice won Battle of the Exes 2, hung up the jersey after many years doing this and over the spring got hitched to her boyfriend. Now, add another achievement to the Real World Brooklyn awards case: co-host of a new TV show.

WINNERS OF THE NIGHT
So in the aftermath of last week's reality check blackout and after the tears and frustration had subsided, there was uncertainty surrounding non-matches staying together as potential new interests are ignored. The challenge saw the guys ignore the strategy part and go for random girls instead of going for ones they think are matches, but did see Hunter reveal everything...literally. Kiki finally lets go of Devin and goes all in on Chuck as Hannah takes it personally, while a lackluster date leads to another truth booth no match.
And of course, there was Amanda getting into words with host Ryan Devlin, who calls her & Mike out for acting stupid, and Dev calls them hypocrites. Obviously, the house is put on blast for not moving on from their non-matches, but despite all that they do make progress getting a much-needed bounce back at 3 lights. At long last, there's finally something to cheer about in Hawaii despite the drama at the patio and we'll wrap it here next week along with Episode 4. But we do have some winners of the night to share with you though, and here they are...
- Austin: As we discussed in our preview, strategizing the road to 10-10 will take on more meaning due to the blackout twist. And after they suffered that first gut check, the group has been challenged to come up with something fresh and salvage pride in addition to looking for love & money...that's where our first WOTN comes from. Being someone who has a great deal of entrepreneurial know-how, Austin provided some strong words to the house to start taking this game seriously and play it strategically. It's clear there isn't as many brains in the house and Austin is one of those who has that sense of intelligence who can help the house get to the cash. Watch for him this year.
- Britni: This week was the first time we got to see Britni for an extended period of time on screen, and made a great impact too. It was her putting the group on alert at the matchup that gave twitter reason to respect the Southern belle and put her on this week's winners list. Like Austin, Brit has been more of the sane type and with a sound mind in the house amidst all the chaos of the first 3 weeks of this season, and this week may only be the start of something good for her. As evidenced by Ellie last year, Trifecta fans love people from the South, and Britni is on her way to becoming a fan favorite.
- Zak: This week, as his native Canada celebrates the NHL season starting and his hometown Blue Jays in the MLB postseason, Zak began to blossom with also having significant screen time too. Yes, there was the awkward date he had with Kiki, but way to put a temporary stop to the DiKi express. He's gained a loyal following for his hilarious vines and playful demeanor on Twitter, and was tabbed as a preseason favorite due to both his humor & looks and the unique standing as the show's first Canadian and representing the Italian crowd. He's just warming up for a good showing this season.

DEVYN ON DATING
After they left the house in Red Hook, we saw some of them on later Challenges and settled into lives outside the MTV cameras. As we told you here last year, Mr. Bow Tie Guy (and hardcore GOP supporter) Chet Cannon got hitched in front of his fellow castmates in Salt Lake City. Of course earlier this year, Sarah Rice won Battle of the Exes 2, hung up the jersey after many years doing this and over the spring got hitched to her boyfriend. Now, add another achievement to the Real World Brooklyn awards case: co-host of a new TV show.
The last time we saw Devyn Simone on our screens, she stole the show and our hearts on The Challenge: Free Agents last year when, well after champs Johnny Bananas and Laurel and the others finished the epic final in Chile, she was able to persevere against all odds and hiked all the way to the mountaintop and did what Jay & Jenna didn't do last season: finish and collect the 3rd place cash. It was an obvious contrast to the fun and humor she provided us in South America, on BOTSeasons II three years ago, and her Real World season flirting with Captain America Scott and more.
Last Friday night, Devyn joined host of ABC Daytime's The Chew, Clinton Kelly, on a new show on TLC called Love at First Swipe. During the buildup to AYTO3 we had a Tinder-like game on MTV.com of fans swiping pictures of who they think is their perfect match. While I'm not as familiar with Tinder as everyone else is, online profiles are vital in the digital age and both Clinton and Devyn are out to help people improve their look and online presence with hope they find their own perfect match. It's obviously different from AYTO and what Nev Schulman & Max Joseph go through on Catfish, but still it's garnered a lot of positive feedback for this fresh new concept.
Dev received some praise from a fellow Brooklynite and a fellow Challenger, along with fellow MTV insider Andrew Kirk, who's spoken to her many times on his webcasts...

Finally, as the DC Vegas countdown reaches its final hours, an opportunity for me to say thanks to one of my newest followers, and probably one of the biggest for that matter. On Tuesday, I posted here a DC ExtraTime special reflecting on the events that happened to Challenge host T.J. Lavin. In the three years I've been following this passion of mine, I've gradually transitioned from being a big fan of the RW/Challenge franchise to now being someone who in addition to being a loyal fan of the Trifecta I'm now covering them and AYTO almost full-time here now (hence, the @DC408Dxtr hub is not as busy as it was in the past & that busy activity now calls DCNOW home). Having a strong rapport with Team MTV has allowed me the chance to pay it forward and tell their stories here, which has made blogging more than just a hobby but a great passion of mine. And again, thanks to everyone for your support...it makes this job on the side more than worthwhile.
Well for obvious reasons as I'm in final countdown mode, this brings to an end the 'Pulse of this week's Are You The One?. An important Heads-Up reminder here that DCBLOG will move the recap of this week's episode to next week in an extended edition of DC WRAP.
