DC ExtraTime: Ashley and Kendal

BY DC CUEVA
■ @DC408Dxtr  TW / IG / YT

On Thursday night before the finale of Ex On The Beach - which is our next piece of business here, we saw old friends say goodbye for now as Mike, Snooki, J-Woww, Pauly D, Ronnie, Vinny and Deena wrapped up the first of two Jersey Shore Family Vacations in Miami, with another one to come later at summer's end. It's with them in mind that two of this week's ExtraTime stories that accompany Champs vs. Stars feature those we first saw on MTV as far back to 16 years ago, and the person who we saw back in 2002 is our first subject, who with the help of a Challenge champ.

Twitter @MTVAshleyBrooke
After what we saw from her on the Reunion, you know Ashley is someone who is the epitome of a firecracker just waiting to go off on these shows: her Real World season and succeeding Challenges and what we've seen there explains how explosive she is emotionally. Last week, the Invasion champ got to play host to someone who we last saw back in 2004 on the winning Road Rules side on The Challenge: Inferno I in Mexico.
If you watched that season, you might remember Kendal Sheppard, that blonde girl who we saw on Shane's Road Rules Campus Crawl season of sixteen years ago. Her bio read, "With her golden hair and dimples, angel-faced Kendal is a total sweetheart with a penchant for trouble. When it comes to parties and boys, this 21-year-old is game for anything. She's had a steady stream of boyfriends over the years, and couldn't remain faithful to a single one. But Kendal has a heart-wrenching past: Her father committed suicide when she was 12, and her flight attendant mother was constantly away. Kendal was forced to fend for herself and is still dealing with those consequences; she wants to be strong, but can't help being vulnerable."
Kendal developed a romance with Floridian Eric during the RV trip across America's top colleges, then went onto her only Challenge of Inferno, where she shared in the victory elation with Darrell (part of his untouched Challenge four-peat), Christena of the South Pacific season, Holly from Latin America, Timmy from RR Second Adventure, and Veronica and Katie -- though it's what happened with the ladder two and that fight in the girls bedroom that's most remembered than the final.
Kendal and Ashley partied together in Sin City along with the Real World'er's sister, as the Road Rules alum took a break from her post-MTV gig of being a mom, wife and a nurse. She even walked by the Palms Hotel, which hosted the original Real World Las Vegas and recently went through a new hotel renovation. And during Final Reckoning, we'll take a look at a notable moment of that Road Rules Campus Crawl season: Kendal, Shane and their RV mates getting to dance in front of two of hip-hop's biggest names who were in the verge of worldwide stardom.

Hello, and welcome to the final week of the first half of the 2018 MTV Reality year. And as you take a break from listening to Drake's new album, recovering from both Ronaldo AND Messi getting knocked out of the World Cup earlier, prepping for your Saturday night activities or the madness NBA fans will have in just a few short hours, or watching the Big Brother live feeds amidst the summer heat outside, we have quite a closing stretch for you here, starting with one final piece of business to take care of for The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars III.
This most eventful season began after Cara Maria won Vendettas and from the outset things have been dramatic and eventful. We had a blowup by Cardi B's sister, Champ girls obsessed with Drake Bell, and a romance that turned out for not between a Cavalier and a Queen. On the field, things were just as juicy: Louise Hazel became the first two-time celebrity participant and played this game like a veteran... so did her eventual finals partner Casper Smart in him winning two eliminations. And this season turned out to be the most competitive of all the three spinoff Challenge seasons.
It all came down to a tension-packed final challenge where Louise & Casper, Wes & Booby and CT & Tony squared off in the rain, and in the end the spoils went the way of Team Dad Bod. All that's left to do for Tony, CT and the rest of the cast is to regather with Mike The Miz to discuss matters on the first reunion show for the spinoff. They'll discuss what went down in the SoCal sun and cold, both on the competition front and the drama taking place in between.

We'll have that covered for you here, plus we'll reconnect with someone who's made her name in the social media world as she's seen her fellow former castmate take over The Challenge in the past year. All of that is ahead... nice to have you with us.

DC ExtraTime: It's A Small (MTV) World After All

From after Episode 8 of Are You The One? Season 6,
and while Ex On The Beach USA was filming

BY DC CUEVA

On the very day The Challenge XXX was revealed at the Austin TV Festival back on June 10th, I was at Disneyland celebrating my niece's 9th birthday with Mickey Mouse and friends. A must for everyone who visits The Happiest Place on Earth is taking for a ride through the lands of the world, with a cast of 300 audio-animatronic kids in costumes from nations and cultures around the world that reminds everyone of global unity and peace. By the time you get off that ride, one song will no doubt stay in your head for days in "It's A Small World," and that offers the bridge to this story...
If you are part of Team MTV -- whether you're part of what we call the Trifecta or any other show outside of the ecosystem, you are part of a broader family. Those who are part of the casts of any MTV show get the perks: membership, promotion, chances to do events (even shows) with alums, attending the channel's biggest events, and the list goes on. So many times, we have brought you those instances when those from shows from across the MTV spectrum meet, from the Trifecta meeting Farrah from Teen Mom, to recently at the VMA's. And other times, there are those times where all of these people cross paths, sometimes in the most random of circumstances.

IG @PrinceOfNorway
The latest instance of these odd connections among the hundreds who have done these shows over the last 25 years came on Are You The One? this past week: Joe and Taylor dated for some time before breaking up, which led her to AYTO Season 5 earlier this year and was in that romance with Andre as well as flirting with Bostonian Tyler.  And those who watched them together and both talking to the rest of the roommates, we saw a different side to Taylor than the one we saw earlier this year... and no doubt they've made a play to get on Battle of the Exes 3.
It's the first time that someone came to this season with ties to a previous AYTO castmate, and her stepping foot inside the Season 6 house brought us back to earlier this year. And it was at this time of the first week of November last year that the cast had went through the ringer of that 10th and last Matchup when they filmed that in the Dominican Republic, and swung and missed the night after Gianna's hometown Indians fell in Game 7 of the World Series.
But as much as seeing them together was both awkward and awesome for us, strangely enough Taylor and Joe aren't the only ones with a Season 6 and past season connection. Before being cast on this season and as late as this past spring just as she was waiting for that call, Nicole had done several projects with AYTO Season 1 original and a member of the Exes 2 cast, fellow Bostonian Brittany. They did several web videos together for a New England video site, as well as a TV show airing on regional cable in the Boston area, a region that's produced so many MTV alumni.

These are the latest in a line of stories that link the many people of this community, something we have showcased a lot here since we began blogging in summer 2013. In a post he did for the defunct Real World Dailies site, longtime executive producer Jim Johnston - who took over for the late Mary Ellis-Bunim as production co-pilot along with Jon Murray, discussed the many links among the MTV/BMP ecosystem, for which he offered two examples of something that has occurred a few times in that show's history: roommates casted on the OG of reality TV who knew each other before entering the house.
First, it was nineteen years ago that the first such odd occurrence of this MTV world being as small as it is came when two students at the Virginia Military Institute applied to be on the same season of The Real World Seattle. It came as a coincidence that Bostonian David Burns (who later became known with his forbidden romance with a casting director and his meltdown upon breaking up) and fellow Cadet Nathan Blackburn had not applied to be on the cast but were casted together, and both entered the house by the Pier together. Who can forget the joy they had unlocking the doors to the house as if they were entering Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory?
More than a decade later, the same thing happened on Real World Cancun: Jonna and Derek were waiters at the same bar in Tempe, AZ, near Arizona State University. Neither had any idea that they auditioned for Season 22, and it was only at the final casting interviews that they realized about this strange coincidence. The both were chosen to head down to Mexico, and eventually made it all the way to the last elimination battle on Battle of the Seasons II. And there are many stories of castmates from various seasons being friends or social media buddies before going on Real World.
Romances among those from different seasons of the Trifecta are common, most recently that of Dario and Ashley K., who met on The Challenge Invasion and are still together. But the most notable of which is one that began on what's now seen as be the very first season of The Challenge. When Real World Boston's Sean Duffy and RW San Francisco's Rachel Campos went onto that RV for a special trip across the country among Real World alums, it was love at first sight, and eventually they got married, became parents, and he became a Congressman. And getting married and also having kids is also the case for Challenge alums Tori and Brad, who we last saw winning Cutthroat.

Being part of what we here at DCBLOG refer to as Team MTV is something that is afforded to only a tiny percentage of the American population. Those who've been on AYTO, Real World, The Challenge or shows outside of the Trifecta and spanning shows still airing or were one & done shows number in the hundreds, and it doesn't include those who do series on its international channels. Yes, the chances of getting cast and having those millennials who watch MTV are about as remote as winning the lottery, which explains how small this world of the MTV community really is.

DC ExtraTime: AYTO Aftermatch - The Season 3 Finale Fight

From following the Are You The One? Season 3 Finale,

updated to include Mike's response

As it still airing in some parts of the world after it concluded a couple weeks ago for most, there's still buzz about the finale to Season 3 of Are You The One?. And a key storyline on what was the most controversial of the show's three seasons was the relationship of Amanda & Mike, which started on the premiere and reached its breaking point in the two-hour finale. They got it on in the Boom Boom Room at the get-go, was a no-match in the week 2 blackout (where the cast lost $250,000 from their $1 million) and stayed together afterwards which, along Devin & Kiki and other no-matches, threatened the group's chances at the $750,000 which they won miraculously. And in the finale, a fight between the two led to a drunken Amanda going off on him and Mike responding by becoming violent. Ultimately, he left the house, both after the fight to cool off at a hotel by producers and then deciding to do so permanently citing the difficulties of living in that house in Hawaii.

DC ExtraTime: Going Viral with Shanley

BY DC CUEVA
■ @DC408Dxtr  TW / IG / YT

Thursday marks the end of the first half of the 2018 MTV Reality year: first comes the season finale of Jersey Shore Family Vacation as the originals party it up one more time in Miami, followed by the final act of a most eventful first season of the American adaptation of international MTV format Ex On The Beach. Both have brought record viewership to MTV as the channel's renaissance continues as the programming that made it famous is entertaining a new generation of fans, with the momentum set to continue in new seasons of The Challenge, Floribama Shore, Fear Factor, Catfish and Wild 'N Out, plus other new shows ready to be unleashed this summer as is the return of Real World to come in the launch of MTV Studios later this year.
The first time that MTV delved its feet into the sub-genre of romantic reality television since A Shot At Love with Tila Tequila came in the same islands of Hawaii that's hosting EOTB, when the first season of Are You The One? debuted four years ago. It has the series' only perfect match that has stayed together and have wedding rings and babies in Amber & Ethan Diamond, while the invasion of two pairs from that season to Battle of the Exes II the next year set the stage for the crossover into The Challenge of other reality series. And when we get closer to the fall, we'll be returning to our 50th state for Season 7 of AYTO, with Terrence J. again hosting following his gig hosting the BET Awards red carpet show over the weekend.

Another memorable member of that class is part of the group of exes who invaded Hawaii and cast a looming cloud over the vacation of the singles in Hawaii. And perhaps, by the time the last Crush ceremony takes place later tonight, she may leave the big island with another AYTO alum going along with her in Cameron from Season 4 after they became "friends with benefits" during the chaos of the past two weeks in the EOTB villa.
We first saw Shanley McIntee as that girl from Indiana described as a free-spirit and one who wasn't having much romantic luck on the Indiana University campus. From the outset, she clicked with a Navy worker from Virginia, Chris Tolleson, and the two instantly clicked and seemed destined that they would be in for the time of their lives. That is, until they were sent to the very first Truth Booth in the first episode, and returned a No Match much to everyone's surprise. But in a harbinger of what we would see on later seasons of this show, the two stayed together even after they got to see how much of a b!t©h a small space with lasers can have on a game of $1 million and true love.
But her most notable moment came in the very first instance that a Truth Booth held just as much high stakes as the ultimate pressure cooker of a matchup ceremony. In Week 6, Chris was sent in as a scheme by the house to try and separate him and Shanley to help the house's cause. They paired him with someone he didn't spend as much time with, Canadian native Paige Brendel, and when the words "Perfect Match" appeared on screen, it led Shanley to go after the one who launched the efforts, Simone Kelly... and the fight divided and then brought together a house that ultimately won that cash. And the day after, my friend Andrew Kirk landed an exclusive interview with Shanley.
But in between the time between that memorable first season of AYTO and her return to Hawaii for Ex On The Beach - with a stop in Melbourne, Australia last year for Second Chances with her perfect match Adam Kuhn (the one who was obsessed with Brittany on that original season), Shanley pursued the one gig she's been wanting for so long and has been pursuing since: hosting. And we have happened to have found her first work post-AYTO, which brings us to another MTV tradition...

Scour the world of YouTube and other video websites, and you'll likely be inundated with plenty of videos that will make you want to laugh out loud. And those who watch an end of week tradition in Ridiculousness with Rob Dyrdek or longtime Sunday staple America's Funniest Home Videos know that there are ample opportunities to do just that… so are many other websites whose goal is to amuse you and remind everyone that there is a something more important than a social issue that can divide the country and dominate your timelines.
A site that prides itself on offering people a chance to let out some laughs is JukinVideo. It is unique in the viral video landscape, as its Facebook synopsis states, "JukinVideo only takes uploads from original owners. In an age when online videos are ripped, recycled, and uploaded to countless different websites on a daily basis, JukinVideo insists on uploads from original video owners ONLY."  And in that day of videos being reposted in record numbers, Jukin makes sure to not clutter timelines with videos already posts on YouTube and rival sites but showcases original work on its site.

In 2015, the site reached the precious 1 million subscribe milestone on its way to today having 1.7 million subs on its YouTube channel, and its videos have garnered 825 million hits. And during that year, Shanley joined the JukinVideo team in teaming with host (and who at the time was JV's Audience Development Manager) Ricardo Marquez in hosting fan interactive show Jukin 301 on YouTube and Facebook Watch. There, the two got to become Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon and discuss & debate which video should receive the status of clip of the day.
Below are four YouTube videos where Shanley and Ricardo (who, as this is being posted on finale day, has just announced his new web venture, the delicious digital brand Crispy Chicken) got to watch videos of -- among other things -- pranks going wrong, some awkward party tricks, a naked man getting tasered, and Halloween costumes.

DC ExtraTime: Fight! Fight! Fight!

*** ADVISORY: The Video Embedded Below Contains Violence & Profanity, And Is Intended For An Adult Audience Only. Viewer Discretion Is Advised. ***

If you have been peeking at your social media timelines in the course of the past week or so, there has been plenty of Twitter beefs going around in the MTV community, and if you have some popcorn around to read them above, you've been entertained. Now here late on this Sunday night, we have something even more juicy: a fight taking place not on your social media timelines, but on the streets.

Last night - or earlier this morning depending upon how late you come home from your Saturday night activities, a fight broke out in the streets in Los Angeles. But it was not an ordinary one: if you watched the infamous Season 5 finale of Are You The One? last year, the last couple to be paired up in the last matchup ceremony were Derrick of this Ex On The Beach cast, and California girl Shannon Duffy... the moment of him giving his necklace to her as a good luck charm before the lights dimmed remains burned in our brains for what happened next when they lost.

Shannon, Derrick and some of their fellow AYTO alumni were partying late into this morning during the Pride weekend activities of this weekend taking in the birthday of one of their MTV friends when she and her friends started getting into a vicious fight that was posted on Instagram fan account @AYTOTea2 and instantly made waves after it was posted. Derrick did whatever he can to stop the fight, but much to his and everyone's disbelief he simply sat back and watched it unfold as if he was an onlooker watching girls go at it at 2AM in the morning.

Derrick posted on Twitter afterwards at @imDroc15, "So ppl wanna talk about the fight like they were there. Ask anyone who actually was there, I tried stopping them from fighting 6 times (yes I counted). After a while, you have to allow grown adults to make their own decisions. You hear me say “I tried so many times!”  Season 2's Briana replied, "Why are people even mad about this lmao let em fight if they wanna fight 🤷‍♀️ If fighting makes @shannnonmaee trash then I am the worlds biggest trashcan. Y’all can’t even see what’s happening in that 2004 Nokia flip phone recording anyway."

This spurred some talk with two other fellow castmates: Hannah tweeted, "This is disgusting. Wow.", while Shannon responded, "Lol but spitting on someone isn't disgusting? Racist tweets aren't disgusting? GIRL BYE."  And Shannon's ex Tyler replied, "They used to try and tell me I have no class.", and her clapping back, "Can someone please tell me why my ex is still talking about me a year later lmao." And in support of Shan, Gianna added, "You don't mess with small and fiesty!"
Shannon replied to Briana, "LMFAO. I only did it cause I was defending my friend but I’ll stay trash if that means I have my friends back 🤷🏽‍♀️". And she responded to the new mom in waiting, "Lol it’s like when I didn’t do anything at the reunion and everyone gave me shit...and then I actually do something and people STILL giving me shit!! I can’t win over here 🤦🏽‍♀️"

The man who we just saw get voted off in the EOTB season's last Cut or Crush elimination, Charles, was left to wonder, "Can someone explain to me how @imdroc15 is always around drama lol I’m starting to think he starting it 😂😂😂." Derrick replied, "Lol bro chill!! I already get blamed for everything 😅 lol hahaha. Ask anyone that was there that night, I tried stopping them from fighting so many times but it got to a point where I couldn’t do anything anymore, it was gonna happen. it was 5 girls in a fight. You tell me how the hell Im supposed to grab 5 girls. Please let me know." And Shannon added, "LMFAO I tried not fighting, I even told her we were too pretty to fight 😭 but then she pushed my friend and I don’t fuck with that !!" Charles replied to her, "It be like that sometimes.. I already know lol but no more! Your officially retired."

This all comes after a now famous AfterBuzz aftershow for Ex On The Beach where Alicia decided to spill major tea when she exposed Taylor and Carolina in revealing that both ladies had tweeted racist tweets with reference to the N word and it forced the former to delete her Twitter account, and just after the ladder broke up with her Season 6 boyfriend Keith. For your enjoyment, the video is embedded below in its low-def quality... a caution: it contains adult language and violence and is NSFW.

Well, while we try and catch our breath after all that - Tuesday or at midweek we'll WRAP up Champs vs. Stars with a review of the season's second half, a trip to the Strategy Room for analysis on the final and champs, and more on the most tension-packed finale since Joe and his AYTO kids ascended into "11th Heaven" in New Orleans. That is just the start to what will be a busy final week of this first half of 2018 in the MTV Reality year, with our Reality Debrief to come soon as well as a preview of Final Reckoning, a look at Season 1 of Floribama Shore and much more.
For now, hope you enjoyed your weekend, and we'll see you soon. Have a great week everyone, and good night.

Welcome back to this trip Inside MTV Reality, and as the weekend comes to a close - and before you head off to bed - it is almost time to do so on the first season of Ex On The Beach U.S., where lots have taken place but now is time to soak in every last minute because we are nearing its finale.
Last week, Taylor's THIRD ex came to Hawaii when the one local she dated - Joe from Are You The One Season 6 - became the latest ex to come on shore and rested a bit after that epic comeback of six months ago. And for fellow AYTO alum Cameron, he found himself in the buzz when body shaming came to the house and it didn't turn out well for him. But the drama centered around Cory: him showing his feelings for Alicia, which then got Taylor fuming - and led her to spit from upstairs towards Alicia.
That fight is still the talk of the island as we join the crew this week, where the house resorts to a game of Truth or Dare... but instead of telling the truth they resort to Dare or Double Dare for their house entertainment. That is until one of the singles and their ex do something that they're not supposed to do. And it comes at a most appropriate time, as the ones who they thought they had they had gotten rid of forever and once decide to pay one more visit to the islands with their sights set on revenge and/or a second chance.

All the action, reaction and interaction is ahead, along with yet another Twitter beef being featured on Last Call at the end of the diary. That's ahead on the Pulse of Ex On The Beach... And thanks for staying up for us tonight... settle in for this late night 'Pulse.

The weekend may be coming to a close, but if you're still lucky to be up we have the Pulse of Ex on the Beach to bring you here shortly. But before that, indulge yourself in all the In-Between interaction that took place between last week's explosive episode with a spit, and this week's episode that has even more fireworks as the exes return. It's the first official weekend of summer, and whether you're enjoying time at the beach, just lounging around escaping the heat outside watching the World Cup or prepping to go party or watch the summer blockbusters, we're heading towards the conclusion of the first half of the 2018 year in MTV Reality. And it all begins with the final act of the third spinoff installment of The Challenge, and the second Champs vs. Stars.
Last week, it was the semifinal - the last regular challenge before the final, and the four remaining teams were offered one more chance to prove themselves before the true test begins, as they returned to where the season's first challenge took place: on the beach. And their test molded speed, puzzles and pop culture... and while some of the teams struggled one did not. And in the end, it was CT and Tony who began the deciding pairs portion of this season on top, and it was them who gained the automatic berth into the final.
In holding all the power, the all-Champs team invited Wes & Booby to join them there - and this week Casper & Louise and Kailah & Drake who will battle it out for that last spot. And once the final field is determined, we arrive at a most-grueling final... and if you thought recent finals have been ho-hum, wait until you get to see what goes down: endurance, a wine vineyard, stages, and rain... all combining for the most intense final challenge we've had in quite a while... and for the first time in many years, it's one that may not be decided until the very last few minutes.

You and us will experience this nail-biter with all the action, reaction and interaction of this finale just ahead... and if you're looking for the In-Between interaction it's in its own post this week, featuring Father's Day, the World Cup, reflections on Ryan Knight and ghost stories(!). And once we crown a champion, stick around afterwards for ExtraTime where we'll have a fight that was caught on tape... courtesy of a member of MTV's most popular franchises.
It's one final chance in the test to see who's best... after the jump, it's The Pulse of the Finale of Champs vs. Stars III. Enjoy it, folks.

DC ExtraTime: The Life of Daddy Adam

From during The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars III; updated
to include additional videos not featured in original post

BY DC CUEVA
■ @DC408Dxtr  TW / IG / YT

As we watch Tony on this Champs vs. Stars season and Cory on Ex on the Beach, we are reminded of how hard life can be of juggling being on an MTV show with being a father in your late 20's and early 30's. CT and The Miz now are in this same spot as them in The Challenge community as are so many other MTV alumni who are now entering the profession of parenthood, which always is the game changer in whether castmates can keep on doing these shows or retire and settle into the real "Real World." And it's with this in mind that we focus this brief bit of ExtraTime to perhaps the most surprising member of the Parents Club...

In 2011, The Real World jetted off to Las Vegas for its 25th season: it's the only RW season in this decade to have its entire cast head onto a Challenge afterwards, and it gave us Leroy, Nany, the Dustin porn scandal, and a guy from Maine who might be called one of the worst roommates we had ever had on the Trifecta. Adam Royer came to the Hard Rock Hotel as that college kid who didn't do much other than get in trouble with the law, with a hobby of dealing drugs and a robbery that went wrong that saw him spend time in a juvenile detention instead of getting down on senior prom night.
When he went on Real World, Adam was kicked out of Hard Rock's Vanity nightclub a few times, smashed a few bottles, hooked up with girls and even rode a bull. His relationship with Nany drew much ire, as did Leroy... and a night of him treating the Hard Rock suite as his own smashing gallery cost him his keys to the house. And then, Adam went onto The Challenge: Rivals with Leroy, and after they and fellow rookies Jasmine & Jonna won that first challenge (which also signaled the rookie revolution that would follow), Adam got into a drunken fight with fellow fire-starter Ty, threw a punch at him, and was kicked off an MTV show for a second straight time: the first one to do so.

That was then, this is now: the Adam we saw on TV is now a distant memory to him now being many years older and much more mature, and being a full time law student who aims to be a lawyer and help those in need... something that would've been crazy to think considering how wasted he got on TV and how often the drunken side of him made him the least-liked member of his Real World cast - one who even had the chance to party with the Jersey Shore cast at their Vegas premiere party.
He also has the most demanding job of all of being a dad: a couple years ago and without the fanfare that accompanied Tony, Cory and most other MTV alumni, he became a new father. Not only that, he has two kids to become daddy to: 2-year-old Harlow and 1-year-old Hudson. The good news about all this: Adam does not have to hear haters go off on him for televised bad behavior while his kids are back home the way we've seen with Tony before "Tony Time" began.
Knowing that so many moms document their everyday lives of being parents on YouTube, inspired by what we've seen on Teen Mom (for which Adam became friends with Maci Bookout and Amber Portwood's ex Gary Shirley and gave them clothing from his clothing line), Adam relaunched a YouTube channel this spring to document life as a single dad. Below is his first YT vlog as he spent some quality time with his two kids, the first of regular videos he's posting there.

DC ExtraTime: ADONIS

BY DC CUEVA
■ @DC408Dxtr  TW / IG / YT

A mystery that has haunted MTV Reality fans the past six months has been, "Whatever Happened to Edward Williams?" For those who might remember, he was the one who found himself in the middle of a love triangle in the Are You The One? Season 5 house with Kam Williams and Alicia Wright - when the ladder hooked up with him in the overnight dark after he and the former were one of that season's two Truth Booth perfect matches.
Those who watched the premiere of Season 31 of The Challenge Vendettas on January 2nd last saw him, in a TV sense, running up the hill of the Rock of Gibraltar off the coast of Spain. But after he did make the cutoff for the competitors who survived that overnight test to make it to the house, Eddie was nowhere to be seen after that first episode for reasons that were never revealed on-air.
And in typical fashion, it took for social media tea to emerge afterwards: the girl who now finds herself in a fight with the girl who's been around his ex on the Ex On The Beach house had a restraining order against the model. And instead of getting perhaps into it with Alicia, Eddie decided it was best to leave the house and not get dragged around.
Like many cold case stories and high-profile murders such as of who killed Teamsters leader Jimmy Hoffa in the mid-70's, no one seems to exactly know of the whereabouts. But with Alicia has to deal with tomorrow night and after having seen Kam have a solid rookie run on Vendettas, we happened to stumble upon something that will not tell us what has happened since then to Eddie... and it takes place in a much different atmosphere than his two MTV shows.

DC ExtraTime: Real World Meets The King of Crunk

BY DC CUEVA
■ @DC408Dxtr  TW / IG / YT

We have featured a lot of well-known people from the entire pop culture spectrum hanging out with Team MTV in our ExtraTime bits, including recently by Tori getting to interview Nelly, Fat Joe, T-Pain and Ja Rule... and another member of hip-hop royalty is this weekend's first subject, and one we featured before when he was part of our look at how some of Team MTV spent Spring Break 2017 earlier this year in South Padre and in Mexico.

Twenty years ago, a man from Atlanta named Jonathan Smith decided that just being a nightclub DJ and working behind the scenes for a local record label wasn't enough, and adopted a stage name in Lil' Jon and formed a troupe called the East Side Boyz. Their first album released in 1997 with two singles that charted on the Billboard Rap/R&B Singles Chart, but it was in 2000 when Jon started his own label, BME Recordings, that saw a breakthrough album (We Still Crunk!) and single in "I Like Those Girls" that those in the South began to take notice.
A label deal with mid-major TVT followed a year later, and shortly thereafter a collaboration with fellow Atlantans Ying Yang Twins produced the track that made him a mainstream star: "Get Low." That single brought Jon to the Hot 100's top 10, followed by another star collaboration: teaming with Ludacris and Usher on "Lovers & Friends," and the guys collaborated again on Usher's "Yeah!" that brought all three to the masses. Another collabo, "Turn Down For What?!" with DJ Snake, also went top 10 as it became a massive hit as the genre he helped pioneer has become part of the current musical landscape. And E-40, Sean Paul, Ice Cube, LMFAO, Soulja Boy and R. Kelly have also partnered up with him too.

Twitter @Ave_Tress
Lil' Jon's popularity has seen him appear two times on The Celebrity Apprentice which has seen him make the Final Four in both of them, and being given the nickname "Uncle Tom" by the one who is now the President. And it was after the Crunk King got his walking papers just short of the final on The All-Star Celebrity Apprentice in 2013 that Averey Tressler and Johnny Reilly from Real World Portland, both of whom were dating at the time, ran into him at the finale after party along with the likes of Stephen Baldwin, Dennis Rodman, Penn of Penn & Teller, winner Trace Adkins, and the lady who just got fired from the White House, season 1 star Omarosa. Averey tweeted in the Twitter photo caption to the right, "Not gonna lie. I feel f___ing cool!! #liljohn."
Kailah's SnapChat
And not many hip-hop artists can let it be known that they're hockey fans in a genre where hoops and football are more popular, but Lil' Jon is one of them. He was an avid Atlanta Thrashers fan until their move up north in 2011 as the new Winnipeg Jets, and this season he has pledged his fandom to the NHL's newest franchise, the Vegas Golden Knights. The club instantly became a source of pride and comfort for a community that was still grieving in the wake of the 1 October tragedy by the time the team took to the ice for the first time that month, and the Knights' success at home at T-Mobile Arena has brought the city into the pro sports spotlight for the first time in a grand fashion.
Jon sported a Golden Knights shirt in the photo to your right, as he's become the latest high-profile celebrity to join that rapidly-growing list of those who are on Team Kailah. More than a week ago, she got the chance to hang out with him, with of course the help of her in-the-know boyfriend Mikey P., at one of the clubs there on the Vegas strip. And when you get to say that you've hung out with the Crunk King, half of the Jersey Shore guys, Kevin Hart and Floyd Mayweather, no doubt that is a very esteemed list.

And below is an Instagram video of Jon on stage at Spring Break 2017, shot by Real World and Challenge original Syrus Yarborough.

DC ExtraTime In-Depth: An Epic MTV Super Weekend

BY DC CUEVA
■ @DC408Dxtr  TW / IG / YT

If you're a sports fan like me whose memories are fresh of events and memories of this recent decade, you no doubt remember that one day where all the planets and stars from all over the sports world aligned and an entire country shut down for the ultimate sports binge-fest: May 2nd, 2015 -- "Super Sports Saturday." That single day featured a Kentucky Derby that eventually produced the first Triple Crown winner since before my sister was born (and the first of two in four years), day 3 of the NFL Draft, a thrilling NBA Playoff Game 7 between the Spurs and Clippers, the Stanley Cup, Yankees vs. Red Sox, and Usain Bolt being beaten by Team USA on his Jamaican home turf at the IAAF World Relays.
And yes, there was a much ballyhooed boxing match between the top pound-for-pound boxer on earth who later invited a Challenger and her boyfriend to his 40th birthday party and a fighter that, as proud Filipinos, can lay claim to being our own. The fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, of course, for the most part flat out fell on its back... though not only did it give boxing the attention it deserved in a UFC-dominated fight sports landscape, it also gave my family reason to remodel the interior of our house in four days in time to host a house-warming that also doubled as our fight viewing party. But when multiple things happen on the same day, it's one of those days that you never forget.

The weekend of June 1st-3rd, 2018 came the MTV Reality equivalent of "Super Sports Saturday" - something that saw several things happen to those who involved in this special family known as Team MTV. This time, the attention wasn't on just two events as it was on May 2nd, but on several events over those three days that somehow weaved together to create a memorable weekend for those who are part of this exclusive club of being a member of this family, but one which reaffirms how unique and special being on this team is.
There was also the lingering buzz of Angelina Pivarnick's jaw-dropping surprise visit to the Family Vacation of a Jersey Shore cast who once bullied her. Plus, there was the controversy surrounding a member of the Ex On The Beach cast and one who shared a house with her a year ago, where racial tweets from years earlier were uncovered by one of their vendettas on an online after show - and led one of them to deactivate their Twitter. But the focus of this portrait is on those who have a lot on their resume: over 20 Challenge titles, several babies, and lots of memories and laughs.
For a franchise that's revered to 25 years' worth of fans, a group of newcomers to of this community who know how to party hard, and a perfect match who added to their status as the ultimate example of Relationship Goals, these 72 hours served as the perfect storm. And this is the story of An Epic MTV Super Weekend.

DC SocialPulse: Ex On The Beach USA - "You Can't Handle the Truth"

As those of you out East get set to call it a night and those out West prep to watch Tiffany Haddish host the MTV Movie & TV Awards, welcome back to DCBLOG's look Inside MTV Reality. And after making you wait one extra day, we have a treat for you this Monday night: the Pulse of Week 9 of Ex On The Beach USA - and even more crazy drama in Hawaii.
Previously, this wild season rolled along when Jasmine was sent down to the Shack of Secrets not to face the music, but was given a temptation of bringing in newbie Charles upstairs, and in turn sent Louis home, all as we also saw new ex Marco enter the villa. But the drama centered around Alicia and Cory (and perhaps with even more on his plate to come thanks to what broke over the weekend), which also saw Angela and Shanley get into words too.
But all of that is minuscule compared to what goes down next: a new ex arrives to the house -- someone who again is familiar to us Trifecta fans -- and who also gets a dose of surprise news. Meanwhile, the unfortunate issue of body shaming that's been in the news a lot in the past year makes its way to Hawaii, which in turn triggers an explosive fight. And the relationship of that baby daddy and the one he's been seeing in this house gets sent to the breaking point when lingering feelings for his ex begin to emerge.

All the action, reaction and interaction to this crazy episode is ahead here, and afterwards we'll share with you the latest instance of a member of Team MTV deciding to get back at the rest of their cast by impersonating them on YouTube. All of that is ahead... and thanks for taking time out of your Monday to check us out.

DC SocialPulse: The Challenge Champs vs. Stars - The Semfinal

Happy Father's Day to you and yours from DCBLOG and from this blogger and my dad. And tonight, we have a special treat for you this Sunday: two SocialPulse diaries to cover two eventful episodes in MTV Reality - starting with The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars.
Last week saw arguably this season's strongest players, Louise & Casper, get sent into elimination to face off against the weakest players left, Jozea & Selita, and despite them giving their very best effort the Olympian and the dancer as expected took out the win and vaulted to the top of the money table. They were also part of some good old controversy when her foot moved when it wasn't supposed to be in a Twister-like endurance challenge which caught the ire of one Shane, as three teams were sent packing by night's end in this season's Purge.
This week, it's the last challenge before the final - and in a preview of what the players should expect in a few days, it's multiple parts: on the beach, speed, solving puzzles, and pop culture all mixed in to dare the pairs who are left to have it all together. Those who finish first not only get dibs on who to put into the last elimination, but also claim their spot in the final, claim $3,000 for charity and receive a all-expense-paid trip. And if one of the dads left in this race has his way, he might have something up his sleeve.

We'll have all the action, reaction and interaction of semifinal week of Champs vs. Stars ahead, along with paying ode to the late great Diem Brown. And afterwards, we'll step into the Strategy Room to analyze this game before it reaches its climax, and on ExtraTime we'll tell you which star from many years ago is on the side of one of the competitors making his way to Final Reckoning.
It's all ahead on the Pulse of The Challenge... it's good to have you with us.

DC ExtraTime: Team MTV Meets A Teen Mom

Because of the sensitive nature of the subject,
comments have been turned off in this post.

BY DC CUEVA

Tomorrow, Thursday June 8th, sees yours truly head down to Southern California for the first time in over a decade, and the first time in exactly 20 years that I stepped foot inside Disneyland. The reason for this is that my niece is celebrating her 9th birthday this weekend, and she and us will mark it in a grand way inside the Magic Kingdom. That leads us to this piece of ExtraTime in having a birthday party… but for this one, it isn't exactly Disney-level family appropriate, shall we say.
After posting our WRAP on Monday, if you got to see this site and our DC@TUMBLR page, you might've seen a repost from two years ago where we looked at the brief relationship between Kiki from Are You The One? Season 3 and Ryan Edwards, ex-husband of Teen Mom original girl, and a friend of the Trifecta, Maci Bookout. We reposted it in light of news the past week of Ryan admitting himself into rehab amid speculation of him encountering drug use, continuing a wave of bad luck for those in a franchise that began eight years ago this summer when the girls were 16 & Pregnant.

Another one who has had her moments since that summer of 2009 is this week's ExtraTime subject. The world first got to meet Farrah Abraham on season 1 of 16 & Pregnant as that girl from Omaha who, like fellow MTV alum and Nebraskan Laura of Real World St. Thomas, was a high school cheerleader. But she became pregnant by the time the summer of 2008 had arrived and had awaited all nine months for her baby to come, but tragedy struck just before the big day: her boyfriend of two years, Derek Underwood, was the victim of a fatal car accident over the holidays. And while she marked the birth of daughter Sophia two months later, there was no doubt an emptiness that Derek was not there in person to witness this ultimate life-changer… something that still haunts her to this day.
On Teen Mom and its current OG iteration, viewers have seen Farrah's evolution: her having breast augmentation surgery, going down to South Florida for college, and parents Debra & Michael getting a divorce after Farrah had an argument with her mom which turned violent. When the show went on hiatus in summer 2012, Farrah released a music album and a memoir entered My Teenage Dream Ended, found herself behind bars for a DUI violation, and did both a season of VH1's Couples Therapy and made headlines in a memorable stint in the UK Celebrity Big Brother house. Then, just as it was with Dustin on Real World Back to Vegas, rumors spread of her being part of an adult sex tape which made her a millionaire but after getting drugged and raped came back to bite her in being affiliated with this pleasure industry. No wonder why there remains a solid hatred for her among fans and even among her co-stars in the Teen Mom family.

As rumors of drama with her mom and her on & off boyfriend Simon swirl (and her dating an AYTO alum which we will look at this summer), plus her on WE TV's Family Boot Camp also, this past weekend Farrah was in New York for her 26th birthday as well as shooting an Teen Mom reunion. And fitting enough for someone deemed the queen of this show whether people like it or not, Farrah celebrated her birthday in grand style in clubs in the Big Apple.

Along with daughter Sophia, the guest list for the festivities included some from all three shows of the MTV Trifecta. Representing The Challenge was the 3rd place finisher on Invasion Nicole, while holding up her end for Real World was newly-single Jennifer from the Bad Blood season. But the largest representation came from Are You The One?: there's the original - Brittany from Season 1, the newbie and someone who knows what it's like to be the least liked person on her cast - Alicia from Season 5, and the perfect match - Giovanni & Francesca from Season 4 and AYTO Second Chances, and one of those involved in steals down in Australia. The picture of them is located above.

Strategy Room: The Challenge Champs vs. Stars - The Final Four

BY DC CUEVA
■ @DC408Dxtr  TW / IG / YT

This week, it's the semifinal round of The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars III, and in many ways this is the field we wanted to contest the last challenge before the final dash for the cash. We have a perfect and worthy field of those who have made it this far just this close to the final, and the $150,000 that awaits one of the four teams who have made it to this penultimate week.
We have a defending champion looking to win a third final in 13 months, an alum of the Champs vs. Pros cast looking to notch that elusive victory to add to two titles and his elimination king status, a man who's emerged from almost nowhere the past year to have his shining moment, and a Pro turned Star who's been the standout of this season and who teamed with a cocky Star who's shown that there's more to him than being a famous Ex. We can't forget the resident heartthrob of the bunch is still in the running, his partner who's eager to try to crash the bash, and NBA player who's kept calm but is aiming for his chance at glory.
As we head into this ninth week, we have sure seen a lot take place on this Challenge that would've qualified to be an actual regular season than a spinoff. But the field who has made it to this point is a good one that might not have the packed finals field of Dirty 30 or Champs vs. Pros, but with three of them having made good runs to here and a fourth that is still lucky to still be here, whoever emerges out of this field and into the final three will make the final much more competitive than back in January. And perhaps, we could say that this season's final could be anyone's game.

● LOUISE & CASPER: Whenever a player or a team gets hot on The Challenge this late in the game, historically this can be the formula for them entering the winner's circle... that's exactly what Louise & Casper have achieved in winning the most recent elimination that they were expected to win - which didn't come easy against Jozea & Selita, and the ensuing challenge/Purge that came after. Louise has played a brilliant game up to now that the only opponent she has to overcome is of one who we thought would be paired up with in Wes but now has compete against him for the cash. You may like or hate Mr. Smart, but you sure have to give him credit for playing a great game, winning 2 arenas, the first challenge after the re-pairing and was MVP. Now, they should be in the driver's seat.

● CT & TONY: Going into last week, this is the team who we thought would have the edge in this last phase of the season. CT & Tony dodged safety to head into this penultimate week, including him having to get through that smell in vertical Twister. CT came here as defending champion and as part of last season's winning Champs team and has all this finals experience, and we all know Tony has turned the corner in the past year becoming a force with a nickname you may or may not like but plenty to back up #TonyTime. The challenge that's up in this week's show features something Team Dad Bod has excelled at: "speed, solving puzzles, and a bit of pop culture"... this is right up both of these dads' alley and if they win, they should be the finals favorites.

● WES & DANIEL: As we wrote on Memorial Day, if there is someone who is hungry for a title then it is Wes -- the only guy of the original Champs vs. Pros men's field who hasn't won either the spinoff as Bananas, CT and Darrell have or a regular Challenge like Jordan on Dirty 30. Booby, as we also wrote in our last Strategy Room, has more athleticism to him to complement the Manipulator's politics, and they've touted their status as "Team Good Guys." They were the ones who played it safe last week in sending in Selita & Jozea, and if they win this week to claim the automatic berth, watch for what they might do in sending in a strong pair as what happened last week, or save that for next week where it all matters.

● KAILAH & DRAKE: If you are one of those who had Kailah & Drake be that team who were saved in the Purge over Tori & Lil Mama and Brooke & Shane, you must be lucky. Of course, what happened on Vendettas is still fresh to Kailah, and she was likely the one who came here with lots to prove despite a finals trip back in April - she proved that winning an elimination here. Aside from MVP honors in the last week of Red vs. Blue, we haven't heard much from Drake outside of the Champ girls obsessing over him... but Allan Aguirre on Medium touted the same qualities other Challengers have that would make him an ideal fit -- that will test him here. In our rankings below, they are in last place and likely to get cut... but as we say, anything's possible.

With all that in mind, here's the Power Rankings... come here next week for our predictions of who will win it all.

 POWER RANKINGS
THE SEMIFINAL

1. LOUISE & CASPER
2. CT & TONY
3. WES & BOOBY
4. DRAKE & KAILAH
