As you prepare for Episode 3 of it tonight, welcome again to DCBLOG as we Wrap up last week's episode 2 of Real World: Go Big or Go Home. After an eventful premiere, last week saw it go all over the place, but we saw more of the personalities emerge of our seven strangers.
We saw the first romantic move being made in Dione and Kailah, as well as plenty of hook-ups both in the house and outside of it too. We also saw two missions that span the silly and the serious: dressing in drag among the guys, and meeting the mom Sabrina has never known. And after what we saw with Jenna in the premiere, the tension may finally blow up tonight after what we saw at the end of last week's episode.
Coming up, our Five Things to Know recap of last week's notable moments, plus DC FORUM has a fun reflection on, what else? - Real World hook-ups. And after fan reaction, a reality TV insider gets an early preview of a new Trifecta season while he's on vacation. That's all ahead.
FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
● Dressing in Drag (and A Bear Suit): As the girls take care of things, as Dean wears a bear suit the TV screen in their living room starts to act up. In week 1, Chris sensed that the pictures on the wall represented the missions that they have to go on this season, and that turns out to be the case. The second mission of this GBGH season sees the guys take part in it only, and it states that they have to dress up in drag and go out in public this way. As Chris and Dione are open to the idea, and the girls are happy about not taking part in it, Dean is not feeling it and is unsure if he can go through with it.
This means a trip to the thrift shop as they get their dresses and get their hair and make-up done. As you would suspect, they look gorgeous and hilarious at the same time, with Dione's hair and the like making him the best of the three drag queens. As they all head downstairs into Downtown, they feel a little uncomfortable at the first, but they get the hang of it once they have a few drinks and they have a good time enjoying life as a lady for one night.
● Getting Wild in Vegas: When the guys...make that, the ladies being dressed up by the guys, and the girls board the party limo, things start to get wild, with the wildness we expect when we come to Sin City. Remember when Trishelle & Steven kissed on Frank's lap on the first Vegas season, or Nany & Heather making out on the second one? We saw it again in EP 2 of the 3rd RW Vegas. First, Kailah and Jenna start making out, and then things get wild where everyone begins to kiss one another, and it brings about memories of those first two seasons (and the party bus from AYTO 2 as well). For Kailah and Dione, things are almost reaching that point (not yet! more below), but Sabrina has also had eyes on Jungle Boy and is not happy Kailah is doing the same too.
Afterwards, Sabrina tries to force Dione to cuddle with her, but knowing what happened the previous night, he moves out of the bed not liking how aggressive Sabrina is trying to get to him. She gets put on blast by Chris for that aggressiveness and tells her that sex is not a way to get to him. Speaking of her...

● Sabrina's Search: If what we've seen so far evokes Road Rules flashbacks and Challenge wildness, like what happened with CeeJai in the premiere the Real World hasn't forgotten about the meaning of the show's title and the serious nature that comes with it. For our first individual mission, the computer lets up as it shows Sabrina talking about her biological mother. She found about her adoption at age 12 and has been searching for her mom because she found out that she might have siblings as her mom has other kids.
Sabrina is given a number to call and freaks out, but CeeJai lends a hand in dialing that number and handing the phone to her, which is local firm Elite Investigations, and P.I. Jon Girard later that day. Yes, he was the same P.I. who helped Nany in the search for her biological dad five years ago, and when it's Sabrina's turn, CeeJai & Kailah go to support her. Sabrina tells Jon everything he wants to know about her mom, as he asks her if she wants to search for her biological mom, and gives her a list of things he wants to know about her adoptive parents. Sabrina later calls her adoptive mom for info and gets her permission to meet her biological mom should that happens. We'll keep an eye out.
● Sex, Sleep & A Blowup: The biggest moment of Week 2 sees that very moment where it's not officially a Real World season until we see a hook-up in the house. And considering how big they were flirting with one another and making it clear that they were not romantically interested in the others in the Gold Spike, this was, as I tweeted, inevitable that Dione and Kailah would hook-up.
The both of them hooked-up many a time in the episode, and then went into bed to seal the deal in front of the infrared cameras above their room. Obviously, you couldn't go anywhere in the house without hearing the moans from that room.
While it was the buzz of the house on that morning after, one person who's not happy about that hook-up is Jenna, who didn't like how they did the deed while trying to sleep in the bed next to them. This leads to a fight between her and Kailah because the Southerner keeps bringing up their relationship and the Floridian responds that no one in the house likes her. Should be quite a night tonight.

REAL WORLD HOOK-UPS
Last week on the Forum, we discussed CeeJai opening up on her tough past and the day that changed her life. This week, with what we saw with Dione & Kailah and the flashback we saw on the After Show, something completely different in something that's a common sight in the Trifecta: hook-ups.
The Urban Dictionary classifies a "hook-up" in a romantic sense as "to engage in any type of sexual activity in making out with someone or to have sex with someone." Yes, they come in all shapes and sizes, with all kinds of people, and all else. We've seen all kinds of these one night stands, bangs and the like on the four shows that have formed the Trifecta in the past 25 years, but hook-ups are more synonymous with Real World than all else.
Of course, cable television - both basic & premium - is more lenient than its broadcast counterparts in that they can show sex (and the more naughty stuff) a little to a bit more because cable is not as conservative as what we see on the free to air networks (and not as heavily regulated by the big wigs). And we've seen more then our fair share of hook-ups and the like on Real World over the years, dating back to the infamous shower scene with Mike and the girls back in that Miami house 20 years ago.
Advancements in TV technology have seen the introduction to the reality TV world of surveillance cameras being used on air to the house, later with infrared technology to capture those, shall we say, more intimate moments at night when the lights are out. This is where we saw The Miz do his thing on Back to New York, then Cara on RW Chicago, Tyler & his boyfriend in Key West, the foursome in Hollywood, and so many others too many to mention over the years.

Being someone who's watched The Real World for a long time, my jaw always drops whenever somebody locks their lips on someone else in a sexual manner. Hook-ups are a must in every season, and you can't resist the voyeuristic manner of this genre and viewers' fascination with romance on these reality shows. We just love hook-ups on The Real World (and the Trifecta for that matter).

AYTO 4 FROM A DISTANCE
A brief ExtraTime here, and a chance to look ahead a bit. We have a huge stretch ahead of us here for those who follow the MTV Trifecta, starting with this Real World season, taking us to Challenge Rivals III and on to Season 4 of Are You The One?. Last week, we showed you a picture of host Ryan Devlin on the Matchup Ceremony stage and now we've gotten our first wide-angled look at what awaits us down the road when we begin covering that season when the buzz for it begins later this year.Generally, we don't want to start/spread any rumors here as this site focuses more on storytelling and interaction, but we're making a one time only exception. While only the big wigs & those working on this show know of the 20 new pledges looking for love, we at DCBLOG can now tell you that this season will again take place in the same state that welcomed both the beloved first cast and last year's season 3 group: Hawaii. Whereas Kauai saw the birth of a MTV phenomenon and the Big Island of Hawaii hosted its most controversial season yet, the island of Maui will be the venue for season 4.
If you're a reality TV enthusiast who follows not only the Trifecta but also most everything else outside the MTV bubble, chances are you know of Reality Blurred, which covers the broader world of this addictive genre, led by chief blogger Andy Dehnart. On Friday while he was on a vacation to our 50th state, Andy saw, from a distance in the balcony of his hotel room, one of the getaway challenges that we'll be seeing when the time comes to follow this experiment once again.
Now, if you want to see the pictures and a video he took from his room, or his live tweets from Maui, then check out his Twitter handle @RealityBlurred, and his latest first-hand account if you subscribe to his email list. But once again, if you don't want to know what the theme of one of those GC's is, then don't proceed with scrolling down to out his tweets from there.
