DC WRAP: Real World Bad Blood - "Surprise"

BY DC CUEVA

It is the holiday week before Christmas, and we have a WRAP of last week's Real World Bad Blood to share with you here as we lead right into the Christmas weekend... a busy weekend ahead here at DCBLOG as we have both part 1 of our Reality Debrief and a bonus ExtraTime over the coming days.
   Last week, we got more into the up and down relationship of Katrina and Anna as the sisters had to face a therapist and before their mom flies in to settle the score with them. We had a surprise birthday party for Peter as everyone dressed in costume, and then saw him and Jenn become official - but it almost turns into a disaster as her wild day on the Puget Sound almost turns their relationship into a thing of the past. And just after she settled the score with Kim, Tyara gets surprise news of her being pregnant.
   Coming up, we'll be recapping last week's episode and its key moments, plus present our first installment this cycle of The Winner's List. Then on ExtraTime, we'll get a preview of what will await us in the new year thanks to some very good friends. Stay with us for all of this after the jump.

DC ExtraTime: Tyara and Kim - America's Next Top Models?

BY DC CUEVA
@DC408Dxtr / @DC408DxNow

Welcome on back to DCBLOG and to our second post of this Saturday doubleheader for Episode 10 of Real World Bad Blood. Earlier, we brought you the 'Pulse of that episode as a couple became official and a pregnancy scare took a roommate by surprise. So for those loyal fans, we got a treat for you with this bonus installment of ExtraTime, which taps into one of the professions discussed in our ExtraTime bit on Real World London alum and leading actress Jacinda Barrett.

For those who follow the entire reality TV spectrum, then you definitely know about one of this genre's best-known shows: America's Next Top Model. It premiered in 2003 on the UPN network and was one of the shows retained in the network's merger with The WB when those two erstwhile networks became The CW three years later. The show has been on the air just as long as many other well-known reality shows as it spent 22 "cycles" on The CW - becoming its highest-rated show and a cornerstone of the younger-skewing broadcast network co-owned by CBS and Time Warner.
   The premise of ANTM is simple: as many as 16 aspiring models come to each cycle with dreams of becoming a professional model, a chance to compete for the title of being the next one, and for the opportunity to begin their career in the always fascinating and always cutthroat world of the modeling industry. Like every other reality competition show, each contestant takes part in weekly challenges and are judged every week on their overall appearance. Then, the judges look at the weekly photo shoots and eliminate models one by one until one model is left, and to the winner goes the spoils.
   Along with the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, ANTM is TV's most successful fashion program, and while its winners have gone on to bigger and better things in this highly competitive profession, no doubt the show's most successful alum is actually the first winner: Adrianne Curry won that first season in 2003 and has modeled for nearly 20 magazines from US Weekly to Playboy; has walked the runway for Jamie Pressly and Pamela Anderson, and starred in her own VH1 show. And at San Diego Comic Con in 2014, dressed as Catwoman Adrianne came to the rescue of a friend who was sexually assaulted and counter-attacked the assailant.
   After taking a hiatus after cycle 22 last year, last Monday ANTM made its triumphant return to our TV's, now across the Viacom way at VH1. It marks a homecoming of sorts as MTV's slightly-older sibling aired second runs of episodes when they and UPN were siblings under the combined Viacom/CBS corporate umbrella. Being busy with her vast media empire, original host Tyra Banks has handed over her longtime hosting reigns to music superstar Rita Ora, and 2016 SI Swimsuit Issue model Ashley Graham headlines the judging panel, who hold the fate of a new crop of 14 female models in their hands. The one who wins gets $100,000, a magazine feature, fashion spread, a VH1 deal, a modeling contract and all the fame & fortune.

On Episode 10 this past Wednesday, we saw Tyara and Kim become the latest pair of original roommate and bad blood to try and settle their differences, and after lunch out, they squashed the beef. In light of what happened there, we'd thought we'd take you back in time to when both were in high school and did a parody of this show.
   While the two were classmates in the same class, Tya and Kim joined with fellow students to do a parody of ANTM called Alpharetta's Next Top Model at the same high school they went to in a suburb of Atlanta. Kim acted as host in Tyra Banks' spot, while Tya was one of the four contestants who moved into a nice house... or make that, a classroom turned into a house. Then, in a harbinger of what happened later when they were in that Real World house, a contestant leaves the show just before they compete in their challenge: walking up and down the runway... located in the middle of a high school cafeteria. And then, Kim welcomes the group as they all learn their fate.

It's the weekend before Christmas, and for many of you it's the start of your 2-week holiday break. And before you do your last-minute holiday shopping, DCBLOG has a recap of the week in Seattle and the Real World house. There seems to now be a calm after a two-week upheaval that took out two of the original seven strangers - the ladder in questionable fashion, and it might appear that things are getting back to normal... But that's not exactly the case.
   Just after Mike took himself out of the house fearing racial tension, last week Theo & Kassius got themselves in a big fight which was inevitable given the boiling tensions they had going back to the police raid, and the questionable decision of Theo being kicked out -- for which we discussed here at length before this week's episode. Aside from all that, there were sisters Katrina and Anna who are reconnecting but Robbie finds himself in the middle of their bond.
   This week with the house now two men down, the attention turns to the ladies and back to Tyara, where with Theo now gone her focus turns to confronting high school bully Kim, but she has no idea of what awaits her with a stunning surprise that changes it all for Tya. Those sisters attempt to mend their volatile relationship, while a surprise party brings out the funny side of Robbie. And for his ex, party girl Jenn becomes a little too much to handle for the man she now calls his boyfriend.
   Ahead, how the cast saw saw and reacted to what happened on Episode 10, plus happenings in New York with some power players, and 3. And if you are one of those fans who feels fond of those old-school Real World seasons of years gone by, we have a treat for you as after the diary, ExtraTime will catch up with one of the show's earliest alums and now its most successful when it comes to becoming big in Hollywood.

- As we begin, please note there is explicit language in many of the tweets below, but they are kept uncensored in order to retain the heat of the moment. So if you are mature enough, please read with discretion. :-)
- Plus, if you haven't watched the episode yet, then do not proceed with reading this post. But need not worry...DCBLOG will compile all of these tweets into these posts after every episode so you won't be in the dark of how your favorites saw this all unfold.

DC WRAP: RW Bad Blood EP9, and In-Depth: Theo & Kassius

BY DC CUEVA
@DC408Dxtr / @DC408DxNow

Tonight, life after Theo begins in the Real World house as before we proceed into Episode 10 of this Bad Blood season, we got a refresher on things on this edition of DC WRAP. Last week was, obviously, the fight between him and Kassius that saw Theo being kicked out of the house rather controversially, and also saw drama with Robbie and the sisters which we will discuss here on the Wrap for tonight's episode coming up early next week.
   Coming up, we'll take an In-Depth look at The Backstory of Theo & Kassius and the events that led up to last week's fight and the former being kicked out of the house. Then after the poll results, we'll have another Mannequin Challenge video to share with you with a Real World alum who knows this feeling of having to walk in to a twist unfolding before before him. See you after the jump.

We've arrived at the weekend, which means DCBLOG has the 'Pulse of the week that was in Seattle and the Real World house. And quite a episode 9 this week as for the second week in succession, a roommate has to leave the house.
   Last week, racial tensions were prevalent and the attention was on Mike, as him saying the N-word in the house and then uttering disparaging comments in front of Jordan eventually led to him leaving the house, removing himself from potentially getting into heated arguments with his roommates. We also saw the house head out into the streets of Seattle to take part in one of the Black Lives Matter protests and saw Kassius take the mic and speak, part of an episode that put the show's two main words in its title into focus.
   This week, the feud that has been going on with cousins Theo and Kassius finally hits into full throttle. Theo has his eyes on repairing that broken relationship after the marijuana raid that cost him a football career, but it's what happens with a simple Real World routine that then turns into something worse that puts everything into a tailspin. And while one pair of siblings are experiencing difficulties, Katrina and Anna have no problem reconnecting, but then they come into a bump when it comes to Robbie, and he also receives some goodies from back home, too.
   Coming up, all the action, reaction and interaction from the week in Seattle and the Trifecta, which also includes Team Subtitles watching the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show and a revelation from a member of the Trifecta who's lucky to be alive. And from being with a group of Originals to the pages of TMZ to the house that the Lyons built, afterwards on ExtraTime we'll catch up with an Are You The One? alum who will soon make his way to one of television's hottest shows - all as the buzz for AYTO 5 is now in full swing.

DC WRAP: Real World Bad Blood - "Drop The Mike"

BY DC CUEVA
@DC408Dxtr / @DC408DxNow

Tonight, an all-new episode of Real World Bad Blood takes center stage and before Life After Mike begins in Seattle, we have a refresher course to bring you here at DCBLOG with a DC WRAP of last week's episode - one full of emotions and racial feelings. There, we saw Mike get himself in trouble for saying the N-word and him bolting afterwards - the second time in 13 months that he has decided to leave a show of the Trifecta following bad behavior. We also had Kass speak at a Black Lives Matter protest in the aftermath of what happened in the house, and the group opened up about what the hardships they've gone through in their lives before coming to Seattle.
   As we prepare for L.A.M., in lieu of our traditional Things to Know episode wrap which generally appears at the beginning of our original weekly reviews of the episodes, coming up we'll have expanded analysis and perspective on this episode in another edition of DC Forum: Perspective. Then after the polls, we'll again liven things up by taking a look back at one of Real World's most infamous threesomes and how it brought back together a pair of exes, as well as a follow-up on a Real World alum being part of something we're looking forward to in the new year. See you after the break.

It's the first weekend of December and winter is in the air amidst the warmth of the holidays, as we bring you on in for the week that was in the MTV Trifecta on DCBLOG. And after taking last week off for the holidays -- which in turn allowed us to bring you our two compelling In-Depth long-form's over Thanksgiving, Real World Bad Blood has returned from its holiday retreat with a rather explosive episode.
   When we were last in Seattle two weeks ago, the scandalous hook-up between Peter and Jennifer saw major ramifications for the both: Jenn's man back home instantly cut ties with her and Peter instantly shacked up with her. He also finds himself in the drama with the sisters as a joke gone bad sparked more words with the Maze Runner. Meanwhile, the saga that is Theo and Tyara hit a snag when after she saw him with other girls at the club, she decides to move out of their room.
   This week, the attention turns to the guy who's had more than his fair share of controversy and big time drama in the Trifecta the past 15 months: when Mike makes controversial racial remarks in front of his roommates, not only is a strong relationship he's forged in the house finds itself in sour territory it also threatens his own fate as well. Also, the group embarks on a weekend retreat to a beachside resort town where they reveal personal struggles in their lives. And all of this inspires a Bad Blood counterpart to stand up for what he believes in when they take part in a national movement.
   Coming up, all the action, reaction and interaction of the episode fittingly titled, "Drop The Mic," as well as the usual lead-up and aftermath to this past Wednesday. This also includes some of the Thanksgiving weekend vibe from the Trifecta community as they marked the start of the holiday season. And if you want to have something a little more fun in your Sunday Funday, stick around for ExtraTime as we'll take you for a trip on the wild side with a man who loves to live vicariously.
