MTV Reality WRAP: Siesta Key - The Season 4 Midseason Premiere

As DCBLOG begins year #10 Inside MTV Reality, there's been things going on outside of my beat which are affecting this blogger right now. And if you somehow notice that our upcoming articles might be published later than they should have been posted in the coming weeks, then you will understand why -- but for now the matters will remain those of a personal matter. However, in the spirit of serving you, the fans, with a much-needed escape from what you -- and me -- are going through right now and in this world, we shall proceed with the business at hand as we always do on here.

In the space of the past month, there's been a flood of show and cast reveals, yet another baby to come for the king of this kingdom, rumors abounding over a new spinoff and a few other things. And if all of them are any indication, then 2022 will be quite the year in reality TV as MTV sees it -- and not just because this is the thirtieth anniversary year of when the channel first pioneered the genre. We will have plenty of cover over the course of the next many months to come... but we begin on this mid-March weekend with a rather juicy opening act in what is referred to as Season 4-B of Siesta Key kicking off down in Sarasota, Florida.

On Saturday, we brought you how the first half of this season played out back last August -- an episode recap that was actually delayed by quite a bit due to many things. But for the gist of what happened the last time MTV made a visit to this paradise: things were so much different: Juliette had just launched her entry into the clothing world when the Florida queen unveiled her swimsuit line... not to mention being in a romance that she felt was finally a perfect one in finding a ginger billionaire. There was also the secret life of a boyfriend that cost him having his relationship with his girlfriend, and a bunch of other things that makes life in this clique not feel like a breeze.

Now as we return to Florida for our sixth straight year to this paradise, things have changed a bit like night and day. And after the break, we wrap the Season 4 midseason premiere of Siesta Key.


   THINGS TO KNOW   
EPISODE 14 - "24 And Still a Mess"

GHOSTED - Any good MTV season always wraps up with a reunion special... and considering what happened the last time we saw the group back in early August last year that was indeed the case for the Key crew. An after-effect of what went down in Times Square is that the dynamic of the group has changed that much more: Brandon would eventually find himself the latest one to be on the outs with the group after his supposed hookup with Jordana prior to taping of that gabfest. This week, he gets a chance to finally try to make amends by talking to Camilla for the first time since that chaotic night.

MEET CHLOE & CHRIS - In the time since the season 4 summer finale last year, there has been a lot going on for the group: a baby, a night with America's least favorite TikTok brothers the Island Boys, and rings for two of them. Amidst her status as the town's resident mudraker, Chloe has kept something else out of the limelight: her boyfriend. As this premiere airs, the newlyweds are on their honeymoon after getting married, but in this scene we see them in Mexico as she introduces him to us.


PARTY DRAMA & A ROMANCE - No week in Siesta Key is complete without a sort of gathering bringing everyone in town together: and in the case of our springtime return to paradise, it's Jules' birthday. At first, the party vibe takes over as everybody fetes the one who was the baby of this gang back when we first came to Florida in the summer of 2017, but now being 24 she's the queen.
   Straight off of what we saw last year love wise, Camilla had a moment with Brandon before the party after their attempts to rekindle things didn't produce anything. But when she arrives at the party, she gets close to a friend of his: Will.


NEW ALLIANCES - For Challenge fans, we are used to seeing new friendships and relationships come and go on that show... and the same is true for Siesta Key - and we have another one brewing as we return to town. This latest one involves the one who stirred the most drama of any one last year in the lady who painted a $500k portrait of Juliette and then decided to become the new drama queen here - Jordana, and one who returned to the spotlight after crashing a former king's birthday party in Cara. 
   In this Siesta universe, there is no such thing as a drama-free party: last time out, there was the birthday girl taking the mic to drop it after going in on her frenemy. But as this party is taking place fresh off of filming that reunion, that means that the feelings are still raw... and it is still the case for Chloe and Jordana when the gossip queen and her newlywed come walking in. 


MOVING OUT? - As is always the case when you come here, things revolve around -- and then go back to -- the main character in all of this. Last we saw Juliette, she was madly in love with Sam... but while it looks from their Instagram accounts that they were perfect it is not exactly the case when we come back to town. Here, the birthday girl contemplates doing something that was unthinkable when we were watching her last year: moving out of his house and going back on her own once again... and at night's end she would do exactly that.
