When we were last in Argentina -- and trust us it's been a LONG time in the clock of this DCBLOG site, it was Week 2 of the new season when many a twist were thrown by TJ Lavin including him bringing out Johnny Bananas & Nany at the end of that first elimination... and they didn't waste any time getting back into the groove of things when they won that second daily game. For two players who were entering their third starts at this, there was more bad news for Nam to swallow when he couldn't even get to compete at all after the bolting of his partner... and Turbo returned from three years away resuming his old tricks, and he dared to go into elimination -- only to come up short in his first arena trip.
Also in week 2, Tori opened up about the struggles she has had with her mental health... but at night's end she was given the ultimate reality check when, after Olivia & Horacio sent Turbo home, she saw both her ex and her fellow podcast host enter the arena. It's that latest late & surprise entrance of Jordan & Aneesa that, as we return to South America, brings into focus what happened to them since we saw that proposal on War of the Worlds 2. On the game front, two totally rookie pairs try to find allies and survive a grueling trip up & down the countryside carrying barrels... while inside the house one player may find himself back in the love side of things. And we get a totally different take on a timeless Challenge classic: Hall Brawl being mixed with a symbol of the jolly folks across the Pond.
After the break, we embark on a bumpy ride through love and battle on Week 3 of the DCBLOG Season 38 Challenge Pulse... and we'll also let you in on another kind of love affair: a standout rookie from this summer's CBS Challenge who might've been a good candidate for this MTV season with her very own Ride or Die. This summer saw The Challenge make its network television debut in a USA spinoff on CBS, and a month after its chaotic final act what happened there still stings a bit. But if we had an idea of other prospective rookies who might've made their way directly to this MTV Challenge, then a rather juicy affair might've popped up between Shannon St. Clair and Josh Goldstein. The former came into both of her CBS shows with the notoriety of having had an affair with Barstool Sports emperor Dave Portnoy, but on the Island had summer 2021's biggest reality romance with Josh. And they were on their way to being King & Queen of Season 3, until a family emergency back home in the mainland forced the both of them to leave the villa a bit earlier than they planned before they would've claimed the top prize.
Shannon & Josh stayed together for a time after the season ended (the last Love Island on CBS before its move to Peacock) before they split up earlier this year... but last month over the long October holiday weekend and well after she got eliminated halfway through that they got back together once again with the simple Instagram caption, "Plot twist." Well, their reconciliation after their brief time apart was too late for them to be considered to compete on Ride or Dies... otherwise if they were cast here we may not have gotten to see Shannon on The Challenge: USA -- and maybe they would've been a formidable team this fall. But with the way that they've enjoying each other's company since they got back together, it may be only a matter of time before they become our Love Island's very first couple to tie the knot.

This is the start of a big weekend of blog content here as tomorrow, the 'Pulse of Week 4 of Ride or Dies delves into yet another surprise arrival of a couple vets will put the house on alert once again... but the focus will shift to one combatant in this arena and another with a past history looking to reverse a sorry trend. We'll leave you here with a possible new TikTok challenge involving something you're likely gonna have with friends a lot on this long weekend -- tortilla... but it's not tortilla chips.
