DC WRAP: Are You The One S3 - Episodes 5 & 6

BY DC CUEVA
@DC408dxtr / @DC408dxnow

We are already into the month on November, and it's almost hard to believe that time has flown by so fast that we are halfway through Season 3 of Are You The One?. Tonight is an all-new episode and the past two episodes have been something: a game-changing speech, a much-needed first perfect match, and plenty of emotions and hook-ups as well.
We'll be recapping both Episodes 5 and 6 here to whet your appetite for tonight's show, plus on ExtraTime a brief look at who from AYTO made a cameo on network television. Join In for that, the Ten Things to Know and a trip to the Strategy Room after the jump.

TEN THINGS TO KNOW

EPISODE 5: "Libido Limbo"

> Aftermath to the EP4 MatchUp
Episode 5 began with Team Ohana doing everything they can to try and laugh off their latest misstep at Match-Up #4 (the one when Rashida left early). They know that at the 4-week mark, they've not reached 4 or more beams and many of the group begin to realize this game is tough and they resort to the good stuff, while the non-matches still have some drama to deal with. This includes Kayla being upset with Connor over him still talking about their relationship after not being a match, while Hannah is willing to give Chuck another shot after he flirted with Britni the previous week.

"Anything for Love"
The week's getaway challenge saw the girls be put through the ringer of how desperate they are at landing that date. "Anything for Love" put the girls to the test in three stages of disgusting challenges with the top two landing a group date, and began with them dunking their hands into a bucket of squids. It then got even more gross with then either drinking 5 shots of hot sauce or eating a plate of pig's feet, and then finally bobbing for apples in fish chum. When the dust settled, Chelsey and Rashida emerged victorious, and Chel as the 1st winner not only chose Connor as her date but also picked Nelson as Rashida's date (though her weave had seen enough after that apple bob).

Chonnor's Right Move
The reward for those four was some time at the beach going jet-boarding on the getaway. On that date, Nelson feels a bit distracted with his drama, as his feelings for Cheyenne post-blackout dominates just as Rashida does everything she can to convince him that she could be that match. On the other hand, Chelsey has a good feeling that Connor is her match as they enjoy that much needed time out of the house, and the rest of the house feels so to. Connor & Chelsey are the near-unanimous choice to be their Truth Booth pick this week, and it pays off. They become the first Perfect Match and the house definitely needed that good news in a time where they desperate needed some.

> Boom Goes The Tempers
After Chonnor's match is revealed, the focus shifts back to the drama involving the non-matches. Hannah forgives Chuck and head into the Boom Boom Room after that reconciliation, but then he heads back to Britni and share a a makeout session in public view in the backyard in front of Hannah - of course, she catches him and he's in the dog house. For Nelson, he's dealing with his problems in a rather different way...when he finds out that Cheyenne and Zak kissed on the patio, his temper gets the best of him. He goes after the pair and is eager to find out more about the kiss, and when they do Nelly storms off and becomes Hurricane Nelson by taking apart the door handle and a door.

Cheyenne's Speech
At the Matchup, the girls take the lead in choosing, and the house begins at one beam to represent Chelsey & Connor being a match. The group makes their picks as usual, but it's when Cheyenne takes to the podium that has become arguably the moment of this season to this point. She grabs the mic to say the one exact thing all the women have on their mind: she puts the guys on blast for their disrespectful behavior to them and urges all of the house to work together to win this game or they will lose together. It's the powerful reality check this house needs, particularly when the house gets no change in the lights of only two, but having their first match gives them at least a foot in the door.

EPISODE 6: "Getting Lei'd"

Strategy Room
The aftermath to that MC of course began last week's episode and while Chonnor headed off to the Honeymoon Suite for much-needed but well-deserved peace and calm, their housemates felt something had to be done. The know that their current gameplay isn't taking them anywhere and it's not surprising that given his entrepreneurial background and sharp focus Austin takes the lead as the strategist. His goal is to help guide the house, learn from past pairings and try a new approach for this week. Remember unlike what we saw in Season 1, the house has to play this game by just sheer memory...that means no paper or pens to try and formulate their strategy.

Treasure Chests and Copters
The most-recent getaway challenge saw the guys compete for a shot at the date. Again, this has quotes as part of the game and several of them are on signs that represent each girl in the house. The guy must dig in the sand, fund a key with the girl's name, unlock a box and put together a puzzle of that girl's face...the first two to complete their puzzle get that much-needed free time. As we expect, there's sand going around everywhere, but what we didn't expect was the guys throwing out strategy for the sake of getting a date. Chuck continues his challenge dominance by being first to solve his puzzle and gets Kiki, while Austin picks up the other bid and lands Cheyenne. The strategist & Chey Not Shy go for a nice ice cream date, but it pales in comparison to Chuck & Kiki's date of going in the skies in a helicopter for a romantic date in the air, and because of past connections they feel they are a match.

The Luau
After that GC, and knowing the group is in need for something fun amidst mixed results in the game, host Ryan Devlin gives the group something nice: an all-night luau, which is a traditional Hawaiian party with entertainment such as native music, a hula and of course food. This party is meant to not only give the group a chance to unwind but also discover new love connections, and if past outdoor parties on the first two seasons are any indication, of course a lot can and will happen.
And of course, parties like this are as wild as you can get in the MTV Trifecta world. The group is dancing, drinking and kissing with anyone within range...and hanging out with our parrot friends too. In spite of a good vibe with Cheyenne the previous week, Zak has an opportunity to explore new love with Hannah, and they enjoy each other's company in dancing and kissing very passionately, culminating with them taking their talents to the water and swimming by the beach.

She's In Again, He Does It Again
Meanwhile, Chuck is entering shark-infested waters himself as his other crush and non-match Britni, feeling inebriated and flirty once again. They get close on the sofa and they again make out, much to Kiki's displeasure. Obviously, she's distraught over Chuck doing this once again after he pledged to her that they would stick together until the truth booth. She goes after the cheater, but Chuck is sorry not sorry as Kiki feels they're not a match.
All that drama is a perfect segue way to the week's Truth Booth and it's either them or Cheyenne & Austin that will head in to that laser room, and it's the former that gets picked with the notion of this being answered and give justice. The verdict is No Match, and once again the group gets put in their place. The one who's feeling the most emotional is Devin, who after he wants Kiki in the Suites after her session with Chuck and feels his focus is being pulled by her. After the TB reveal and clearly upset by the verdict, Devin storms out of the room, breaking a vase and makes it clear that he is over her and wants to focus on just himself.

> Strategy Frustration
And then at the Match-Up, with their choice in their hands the guys decide to go with Austin's plan to strategize at the matches. The girls are thinking to themselves, "What is going on here?" as they feel the guys are out of their minds and should instead go with their gut feelings. Odd choices like Tyler choosing Hannah despite his strong connection with Melanie surprise not only us but also R-Dev as well. The result of all this: only little progress with two new light beams to join Chonnor at three, and while the guys followed Austin's words of strategy over feelings, it's nonetheless an uphill battle in who everyone's matches are. Time is running out with four tries left to salvage $750,000.

STRATEGY ROOM
For time purposes as this is being posted on EP7 day, there are no winners of the night for episode 6. But we do have a brief visit to the Strategy Room and begin to plan out what could happen down the stretch.
- After four visits to the Truth Booth, the queen of that padded room Kiki now has four potential guys who could be her match. With four tries left this could be only a matter of time before they find her match unless the house finds who the other matches are before then.
- After what we saw last week with them, Tyler may have squandered that chance in choosing Hannah as they seeked to reverse momentum. But if he wins a getaway date with Melanie, there's no doubt the house picks him and Mel that week, and it could be a match that could help this house make this Ryder Cup-esque comeback.
- Back in Week 1, Hunter & Britni, Zak & Kayla and Alec & Stacey were paired in the first MC and they paired up once again. The Entertainment Weekly fan wrap, for which some of this wrap is based on, predicts one of those three lights belong to them, and if those three get a GD, the odds are they will be put in the TB and it could be the one that puts them in the winner's circle.

We will not count them out here and not make any predictions of if they will win this in the end, but if they can get a truth booth match and a good number at the patio tonight, they can possibly use this as a template to pull off what seems to be a miraculous comeback. Remember, anything can happen and if they come all the way back from this hole that they're in, this might tie or even overtake the U.S. making that comeback at golf's Solheim Cup earlier this fall. It could happen.

THE LIMITLESS BROTHERS
A very brief ExtraTime here... As we mentioned in our last Look article that covered Hard Knocks, ABDC, Gainesville and Todrick in September, fall is the best time of year for those in TV world, and it's particularly and historically the case in the world of network television.
This fall, CBS has a show called Limitless that dovetails off of the 2011 movie of the same name and last week's episode saw Dario from last season and his brother Raphy from Challenge Bloodlines make a brief cameo. While we don't have a picture or a screen-cap of them to show you here, and being someone who's not into network TV fare as much on a regular basis, nonetheless it's a very good thing that Team AYTO is making more buzz across the TV landscape as the impact of this show is starting to be felt outside the MTV spectrum.
We first saw a mention of Dario and Raphy in his casting bio last year, and for those of you who happen to check out my MTV Casting Tapes playlist on my YouTube, check out their casting tape here. Given their baseball experience, some see them making a good impact on this season, and they've made friends with some of the MTV castmates already. So, expect a good outing from the brothers this season on Bloodlines.

And that's the Wrap of the past two episodes of AYTO. There is a lot of discussion about what we got to see on this week's episode, and here's where you can find them...
- After last week's episode and after they had Cheyenne, Chelsey, Mel and Kiki drop by in the past two shows, AfterBuzz TV (@AfterBuzzTV) kept bringing on the good stuff when Kayla joined Lem Gonsalves, Desiree Murphy and Nino llanera. She provided her thoughts on Episode 6 and the season at the halfway point. Make sure to check it out at www.afterbuzztv.com along with those other podcasts from both this season and last season.
- On the Episode 6 edition of the AYTO RHAP with Brian Cohen (@BusDriversRoute) and Ali Lasher (@LashsTweets), they discussed everything that occurred last week, and listen to this week's show here on Rob Has A Podcast. Plus with Bloodlines coming up, check out both past podcasts at robhasawebsite.com, Brian's interviews from past seasons at his YouTube channel and the Bus Drivers Route blog at busdriversroute.com.
- Check out the The Alliance Podcast with Devin and Zak, the first AYTO castmates to launch their own AYTO webshow. In the first three episodes of the show, they were joined by Alec, Stacey and Kiki as they discussed everything you want to know straight from the authority. Check them all out at the links above, and follow Zak's YouTube channel for more during the season and some of his pre-AYTO YT videos.
- With the countdown to Bloodlines now underway, check out Andrew Kirk (@CSUGradAKirk) and all of his webcasts on his YouTube page, SpreeCast & BlogTalkRadio sites, where he has talked to over 50 members of the Trifecta, and those interviews will come in handy as the countdown to Dec. 2 picks up steam. I plan to have AK on here to recap this AYTO season, preview the new Challenge and debrief this year in Reality TV coming up later this month.
- A new Challenge season means we get to enjoy video recaps with video blogger Ace Nichols. And just posted last night, Ace did her preview show for Bloodlines which you can check out here, plus her past video recaps at her YouTube hub.
- And of interest to MTV fans, Vinny Guadagnino of Jersey Shore fame hosts his own podcast, Getting Into It with Vinny G. Among recent podcasts he did was one where Ms. Blast in a Glass Deena Cortese joined him to look back on the big night of J-Woww getting married to longtime beau Roger Mathews and all things Jersey Shore. Check it out here and past podcasts at PodcastOne.com, plus the story of her and the girl she replaced in the JS house, Angelina, meeting Briah from RW Skeletons here.

Again, be sure to follow DCBLOG and all my social platforms for full MTV Trifecta coverage: Pulse diaries, Wraps and all. Of course, Are You The One? is the focus but as soon as the last Match-Up ends our focus shifts to covering Bloodlines and we'll have it all covered wall-to-wall starting with a preview post to come your way in a few weeks.
Also be sure to follow DCNOW on Twitter @DC408DxNow, which, in addition to tonight's AYTO episode and new show Follow the Rules with Ja Rule, will also have a busy time ahead, with golf's HSBC Champions to be live tweeted live from Shanghai, China before and after tonight's episode and though Saturday, plus championship boxing as Tim Bradley faces Brandon Rios in Las Vegas also on Saturday night. And of course, follow me on Twitter and Instagram @DC408Dxtr and Tumblr.
Thanks again for reading and until we talk to you in a matter of hours on DCNOW, see you then.
