As we enter the second full week of the new year, welcome back to DCBLOG as we present week 6 of DC SocialPulse for The Challenge: Battle of the Bloodlines. And after we brought you a Pulse Extra to look back on the final hours of 2015 & the first weekend of 2016, we provide you with the week's main course as a popular Team MTV romance gets tested in Turkey.
On New Year's Eve Eve, we had back to back episodes where a veteran/rookie house divide gripped the house and saw the vets break apart a rookie guys alliance in the Pit. Two veteran ladies got into it with a thrown glass and some very unfortunate insults thrown at one another. And once again, we saw the 5-time champion do what he seems to do best on this Challenge: turning his back on the girl who was his partner last season in exactly the same manner a fellow vet did to him last season.
On Episode 7 last week, the attention turns to the returnee to this Challenge world and his girlfriend. The rumors of her cheating on him begin to get to him, and leads him to a breaking point in his signature insanity. And after a tense mission and the ensuing voting process provides fuel to a hatred between two teams and sets the table for a most intense Pit battle. And as for the week's After Show, it too also offered a lot more drama than is usually the case.
If you wanna relive all of this week's interaction or just catching up on it for the first time, then dig in. In the span of 90 minutes, the direction of one of MTV's most popular reality romances have taken a wild turn, as revaluations of Cara Maria cheating on Abram has put their relationship on the rocks, which we saw unravel on Episode 7 and its related After Show. We also had the most thrilling mission so far this season, and the most-entertaining Pit elimination as well, which settled the score between Abram & Michael and Thomas & Stephen. DC WRAP will have a recap of the night's activities, winners of the night and more fan reaction to the episode coming up before Wednesday. Now, let's digress for a bit...
DC FORUM - A Special Edition
AND CLEARING THE AIR...
An impromptu edition of DC FORUM now, and something I don't get to do much here...and that would be of turning the spotlight to myself and a chance for me here to sort of clear the air on here. And to take a cue from my colleague Andrew Kirk who went through this thing before and addressed it on his Big Time Reality TV blog, I want to do this again but in a different manner than was the case the last time it happened to me. So, here you go...
As you readers of this site know back in the fall of 2014, I found myself in a precarious situation between myself and a couple people from Team MTV who I got into an issue with on Twitter... And as would say afterwards from learning from that, I would rather not want to revisit that whole ordeal again or mention it even once here after going through that mess. This time, this exact thing happened to me again, but given my maturity I've decided to handle this in a more different manner than last time.
As I was compiling this week's posts and compiling the timeline for the 'Pulse, I was checking out one of the responses from one of the Bloodlines castmates when I looked over one of the responses from one of the alums from The Challenge. When I went to their page, I found out that they, of all people, blocked this very user - both on my primary and DCNOW hubs. To be totally honest with all of you, I had absolutely no clue or idea why this person did it, but nonetheless it hurts my feelings, especially when it's a favorite competitor of mine.
Just as it was when Andrew went through this scenario with a Big Brother alum when he first got into that show two years ago, the reason this has bothered me from when I found out about this is that I'm absolutely respectful to everyone on these shows I watch. I am a true MTV fan who's established a great rapport with most of the community in my four-plus years here. And over time since I joined this social world, I've matured to now covering this world on the blog more extensively.
And it's here that all my MTV coverage is done in an objective & journalistic, third-person manner with no opinions that could harm the subject unlike what you see on other sites or social networks. But somehow for no apparent reason that I have no knowledge of - whether it's on the blog, Twitter or anything else, this user had to do what they had to do to me. And if I did something that harmed you, which I would never do on purpose, then I would take total responsibility for my actions. I totally feel that I did not do absolutely wrong and do not deserve to have this
To whomever had the unfortunate task of doing what you did to me, I apologize if I wrote or posted anything that somehow may have offended you and, as Andrew wrote on his blog, it's your choice to do what you had to do. I just wanted to tell you that I do not have any hard feelings toward you at all and wish you all the best in the future. Or if this was a total misunderstanding then do whatever you can to reform the bridges we used to have. That's all I wanted to say.
It's because of this particular reason that during this weekend, as is usually the case when something of a serious matter happens, I changed both my profile picture to black & white and the header pic to a simple black background. And during this weekend, I added the three words that I tag at the end of each & every DCBLOG post: I AM DC, along with my Twitter handle at the bottom. This is a way for me to express who I am in the most simple of messages, and sometimes it's words that speak louder than actions.
I drew upon inspiration from the events of two years ago in my favorite sport where a few words that spoke louder than words took down embattled Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, and the response united not only an NBA team but also the entire sporting nation under one emotionally powerful message: "We Are One." It was a powerful statement and a strong sign of unity which, thanks to social media, went beyond basketball and became the team's rallying cry.
When it came to posting "I AM DC" for the first time beyond this very site, I had considered a number of times posting that picture on any of my social networks in the past since that run-in I had over a year ago, but felt it was inappropriate to do so out of respect for my followers. But it's because of what's just happened the past few days, I felt the need to finally let that message out to all of you out there for the first time in the open.
To those of you who support me and will stick with me always, thank you. You are always appreciated and I value your loyalty and great friendship - both socially and personally.
