DC WRAP: Real World Bad Blood - "Petered Out"

BY DC CUEVA

We have arrived at the weekend of this short work week for all of us, which means one thing: the four-day Thanksgiving holiday weekend is here. And we have this DC WRAP post to cover Episode 7 of Real World Bad Blood to share with you here before we celebrate with our families.
Last week saw the Peter and Jennifer romance hit full bloom in the aftermath of their kiss, plus we saw the budding relationship of Theo and Tyara hit a snag. There was also Peter also finding himself in the heart of some drama with Anna and Katrina, and even an appearance from a grasshopper.
Ahead, we'll look at those three stories in our wrap, plus results of our polls. And what has become the latest phenomenon to hit the internet? ExtraTime will bring you one member of the Trifecta's entry into the trend of people sitting still for 30 seconds of glory in social world. That's all ahead.

 THINGS TO KNOW

● PETER & JENNIFER: Episode 6 ended with two fellow Bad Blood counterparts and the respective opposites of Mike and Robbie - Peter & Jennifer -- deciding to get down by sharing a kiss in the oh so awesome scandalous style we love in the Trifecta. Episode 7 begins with the fallout of that hookup which, after it takes place, Jenn instantly takes the blame and tears up in the confessional. She then proceeds to call her boyfriend Travis back home to admit to cheating on him and instantly he breaks up with her, pointing out again that before one moves into the house, their relationship with their significant other should end, or at least take a break for this experience. At a daytime block party, the two talk on the side and he says to her, "Let's see what happens." They then hang out in bed and then go on a twilight date at a local restaurant as they enjoy each other's company including, of all things, grasshoppers for dinner. This isn't the only drama Mr. Romeo gets himself in... more in a moment.

● TYARA & THEO: Tya and Theo first met each other on a hill overlooking the Seattle skyline and all signs pointed to them being the first house romance and it lasting beyond this season. After getting by first base, now that hookup seems like a distant memory. On a night out with just the original seven, Tya spots a soccer player in the club, supposedly from the avidly-supported MLS team - the Sounders, all in front of Theo. When they get home, he tells Anika, "She's friend-zoning me," and then he and Tya go to the confessional and they get into words when the guy she saw that night rings her up right in that room, and then she walks out to talk to the girls to tell them that she's over him. Later, Jordan becomes the mediator as Theo takes Tya to the confessional himself to iron things out, but he feels irate. Tya then tells his cousin Kassius, "He doesn't deserve me," and begins to discuss plans to move downstairs much to his dismay. Once again, the two find themselves in an argument and Tya cuts all ties to him and adds, "This feels like a divorce that's becoming final." And as I tweeted on DCNOW, it feels like Theo has lost his perfect match.

● PETER vs. THE SISTERS: Back to the Maze Runner: before his hookup with Jenn, Peter has been hooking up with Anna but it's him who finds himself in the middle in the ongoing feud of her and sister Katrina. The sisters decide to crawl on the floor to pretend that they're drunk and just got back from a very good night at the club. When Anna makes a bad joke in mentioning Peter's mom, he begins to get serious and they get into words. Later, Anna and Katrina discuss what's been happening with the older sis and Peter and how he's now fallen in love with Jenn, and how this might affect them. We'll be keeping an eye on all of them when we reconvene in a week from now.

SIMONE JOINS THE MANNEQUIN CHALLENGE

If you've been wanting to take your mind off of what has been happening in the wake of the past two weeks in our country, it's likely you've been provided some relief thanks to the latest Internet craze that's been taking over the web, social media and your smartphone apps. And it involves having to sit and/or stand still for as much as one minute to receive many views and impress your friends.
The internet has been home to phenomenons that, thanks to the widespread usage of social media we now have these days, have made it bigger than it might be when the web wasn't as big. The past few years, we've seen the Ice Bucket Challenge, the Harlem Shake, Gangham Style, covers of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe," carpoolers performing karaoke and much more. And over the summer, you couldn't go anywhere in town without seeing a youngster and those young at heart use their iPhone or Android to play Pokemon Go and look for Pikachu & friends. The video for Maroon 5's latest single, "Don't Wanna Know" with Kendrick Lamar, brings that game to life in hilarious fashion.
Now, here late in 2016 in the aftermath of turmoil caused by the outcome of a divisive election and presidential campaign, you can add to that the Mannequin Challenge. It's where people decide to literally stop what they do and become frozen in time like mannequins in the hometown mall while a video on one's smartphone is recording the very moment, then be posted in seconds on Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Snapchat and other social media platforms. It's reported that this phenomenon had its start in Jacksonville, FL when students decided it would be fun to stand still for 30 seconds... And now just about everyone has followed suit since that video was first posted early last month.
Since this craze began in northeast Florida, many pro and college sports teams both in America and overseas have joined in to pause for a moment in a room and have this scene be posted for everyone to see. This includes the world's most famous soccer player, Christiano Ronaldo, and his European champion Portugal team, as well as England's Jamie Vardy, Raheem Sterling and Theo Walcott during their international matches. Even the First Lady got into the act when the Cleveland Cavaliers visited the White House, as well as the U.S. women's gymnastics team on their national victory tour.
Of course, musicians have joined in this Mannequin Challenge, led by Beyoncé and her Destiny's Child sisters Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, and Britney Spears and her dancers in celebrating being named Best Resident Performer in the Best in Vegas Awards. Adele, Garth Brooks, the great Paul McCarthy, the casts of Saturday Night Live and Dancing with the Stars, and even Hilary Clinton and friends have made videos of sitting still for a minute and post their moments on their social hubs.
It's the backing musical joint that's been used in the background to most of these videos that has brought Mississippi hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd to prominence. "Black Beatles" is that song that accompanies most of these Mannequin Challenge videos, and the popularity of these videos helped bring to an end the glorious 12-week run of "Closer" by The Chainsmokers and Halsey atop the one-track measure of American music's top of the pops, the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

At this time three years ago, Simone Kelly was filming the first season of Are You The One? and made quite a name for herself there in the islands, and then on Exes 2 and Rivals III. The last time we saw her was in the elimination chamber this past summer in street clothes as partner Thomas (paired up by way of their unseen fight on their first Challenge appearance) and her voluntarily giving up their spot in the jungle due to an illness in his family. With her back to doing radio work and also regaining her Twitter account @SimoneJKelly after it was hacked a year ago, Monie's next stop is scripted TV in filming a pilot for a new drama which hopes to come out in the new year.
Earlier this month, Simone decided to join this latest internet phenomenon and with the help of her friends, they gathered up in their own home theater to film their own Mannequin Challenge video set in the atmosphere of movie night. She also gave love to Team MTV's newest momma-to-be, fellow AYTO alum and Rivals III bronze medalist Cheyenne, in wearing the "#BoyBye" hat from her The RUU clothing line. The result of their work is below.

And that will wrap things up for this week's posts covering Episode 7 of Real World Bad Blood. Activity has been very busy this past week with filming of the new Challenge having just wrapped up and the reported new AYTO spinoff just kicking off overseas, along with of course the holidays, that again there is actually no interviews or podcasts of interest to share with you in this epilogue, as we usually do at the end of our episode Wrap's. But as always, look to the previous Wrap's for links to all of them.
As we post this here on this Wednesday night, November 23rd, there is actually no episode tonight due to the Thanksgiving holiday, but that doesn't mean we're shutting down for the holiday. During this four-day holiday weekend, we have a special edition of DC ExtraTime to look at one of the most unique stories to come from the Trifecta. DCBLOG will present the story of Johnny Bananas and extraordinary fan Kasey Harvey coming up for you this weekend, plus other posts now and until Real World returns next week.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and while you and your family gather for the holiday festivities DCNOW at @DC408DxNow will have a holiday edition of DC Playlist with music and more all evening starting at 8:00PM ET/5:00PM PT. Also, I will be utilizing Instagram, YouTube, SnapChat, Periscope and Facebook Live to bring you live into my holiday festivities for the very first time (which also doubles as the birthday party for my dad and my niece as well), so join yours truly for Thanksgiving 2016.
That's how we look at it for the week that was in the MTV Trifecta. Thanks for joining me, and to you and yours, a Happy Thanksgiving.
