DC WRAP: Real World Bad Blood - The Finale

Tomorrow, we turn the page to covering Are You The One? Season 5 on DCBLOG, but before that takes place we have one more post on Real World Bad Blood to bring you here. Last week was the season finale that saw yet another roommate leave the house for their behavior, all stemming from a big house fight that took place and casting a dark cloud over the usually festive mood that comes with the final few days in the Real World house
   Ahead, the key moments from not only the finale but also Episode 11 when Tyara left after news of her pregnancy became public and Anna & Katrina's mom flying into Seattle. After the poll results, we'll join some Trifecta alumni and newbies as they ring in 2017, and let you know about the latest alum to say "I do." The WRAP is coming up.

 THINGS TO KNOW

TYARA EXITS: First, our Wrap begins with Episode 11, where after she gets home from a visit to the doctor about something that was hurting, Tyara informs production and then the house that she was pregnant, something she didn't expect. At first, she wants to keep this secret under wraps, but considering how hard it is with living under this roof and with cameras documenting this whole thing, Tya brings everyone together to announce that she is leaving the house in having to deal with her pregnancy in private.
SISTERS' MOM INTERVENES: Something that came up in EP. 10 was the tumultuous relationship of Anna and Katrina and them going to a psychic to discuss what happened to their bond. Of course, no one knows about these sisters better than their family, and their mom flies out to Seattle to try and help out whatever way she can. There, the mom sides with Katrina in both how mother Stack loves the older sister more than the other, and Anna having to play third wheel.
● PETER & JENN, AGAIN: As the hairstylist braids one of the sisters' hair, Peter tells Jenn about the hatred he's built with Anna and Katrina which has him riled up. Throughout the season, he got close to them only for that to fall apart, and eventually he and Jenn become boyfriend & girlfriend.  We had just seen Peter get up in arms over Jenn dancing on the party boat, but that pales in comparison to him finding out that she and the sisters had formed a bond. Obviously, he gets mad at her, and it catches everyone's attention in the house. So much so, that Anna rings up production to call security when Peter gets in Jenn's face, and Robbie is forced to hold him back so it doesn't get violent.
   The next day, Peter brings Jenn flowers and pancakes, while Anna heads to the computer to search domestic verbal abuse on a search engine, and when she doesn't log off Robbie inadvertently finds out about it. Then, Jenn finds out about the suspicious web search when the sisters go on a night out, and then the feelings are lit up once again as Peter and Jenn argue once more, Katrina takes the floor to air it out and Jenn gets consoled about what's been happening behind her back. As it turns out, it's not the end of this drama.
TOO MUCH FUN: The final week of the roommates' experience are supposed to be fun and upbeat, but that's not been the case of late. And on this finale, they take advantage of every last minute of their time in Seattle, but Jordan goes to the bathroom to puke when she's had too much to drink, and Jennifer turns into becoming mom to her as she comforts her. This sees Jenn take Jordan to the cab to bring her home and Peter gets mad that Jenn is heading home without letting him know about it beforehand. This might come as a total misunderstanding as Katrina admits that Peter was blowing this seemingly small situation out of proportion into a big deal, which really isn't.
ANOTHER FIGHT: When he heads back to the house, Peter talks with family back home as Jenn wants to know what's going on as she tells him what happened. Katrina listens to what's going on from a distance, as he then focuses on her. I tweeted, "Now it's gotten ugly and he's dipping low." Peter yells at Katrina as Anna steps in to try and stop it from getting violent, then Jenn yells at Anna. For what happens next, Anna pushes Jenn off of her, and then Jenn returns the favor by throwing her to the floor as security steps in yet again, all as Katrina tries to go after Jenn. Peter airs out his frustration by proceeding to hit the fridge and the walls... the house will feel divided instead of the usual farewells given to each other which we always seen on finales.
PETER LEAVES: With having a second big fight in as many seasons, and with having to execute the whole twist, it's no surprise that those on the other side of the fourth wall have had their hands full all season long, and you might say producer & longtime RW veteran Matt Reucker was the 15th roommate in the house from having seen him aplenty this season. He and his team are left with another big decision on their minds with how to deal with a season-ending fight just as it was last season in Las Vegas, in Chicago and obviously in Portland.
   In the end, Matt brings Jenn aside to hand down their verdict and after seeing footage of what happened to him and also previously, Production judges that Peter got too aggressive towards Jenn and the sisters and is sent home. Jenn cries but gets good news that she can stay, provided that she has to sit down with Anna to hash things out - which they eventually do, all as her and Katrina won't be given the heave-ho. Down the way at production HQ, producer Courtney, who was interviewing Peter, also delivers the news and he instantly calls Mike that he's heading home. Jenn gets in contact with those back home who encourage her to stay for the last few days.
   When he gets back to the house, Peter tells everyone about it and then brings aside Jenn downstairs with the claim that when he goes home, she should also or risk breaking up right at the end of their stay in Seattle. She finds herself in tears as he gets irate by the moment that it becomes too intense for those to even watch either her going against her family to be with him, or stay and lose it all. More of what happened to them lately comes back to haunt the two, and when she reaffirms her desire to stay he loses it without actually losing it, all before he leaves the house.

In the end, they're still together some six months after the fact, just as everyone else have been ganging up on them socially for his behavior towards her. For some added perspective, we can assume that with having to relive what happened, Peter has had time to reflect and think about what he did in hopes of becoming a better man, and watching this was a wake-up call for him to toughen up and not get mad for even the simplest of things. I watched him on Million Dollar Maze Runner winning the half-million 3 years ago and saw him as that friendly guy. After what we saw, many people will say that's not always the case considering his behavior towards the one who's now his girlfriend, but out of all of this they have a relationship that's still going strong. And if they're happy, we'll let them be happy.

NEW YEAR'S EVE 2017 W/ TEAM MTV
Ask everyone what their 2016 was like and you'll get either one of two answers of whether they enjoyed it or hated it when they think about a year that had it all. But one thing is universal: everyone most definitely enjoyed partying away the final hours of the year that was and welcome in 2017 on New Year's Weekend. There, Real World/Challenge alumni and some Are You The One? newbies helped ring in the new year across America, and in the case of one girl nicknamed Barbie Beast, Jenna's birthday also.
   And it wasn't just here in the U.S.: up in Vancouver, B.C. Canada, Camila brought in the new year along the short of the 2010 Olympic host city, and down in Rio de Janiero which hosted a memorable Olympiad this past summer, AYTO Season 2 alum and fellow Brazilian Jessica went to Copacabana Beach for the metropolis' annual party where everyone who went to watch the fireworks dressed up in white. But we chose two celebrations to share with you from Team MTV's New Year's festivities, beginning with some esteemed alumni...

● Last summer when we looked at how three Trifecta alumni with ties to Cleveland and Northern Ohio celebrated their first pro sports title since the Johnson administration in the Cavaliers' NBA title, the man featured last was one of the handful to give those on the North Shore something to cheer about until that June night last year. WWE World and Tag Team Champ, and of course RW Back to New York & Challenge alum Mike "The Miz" watched that Game 7 from his L.A. residence and like everyone was ecstatic at something he and everyone else hadn't not experienced before. We showed you him reacting to those last seconds when 52 years of frustration was wiped away by a shot and a block against a powerhouse Warriors team that won 73 regular season games; and Cleveland fans came within an inning of two titles when the Indians fell to the Cubs in extra innings in that classic Game 7 of the World Series.
   The Miz brought 2016 to a close in the company of his wife, fellow friends, Mr. Belding of all people, and two fellow Challenge OG's: First, a guy fans have been clamoring for to return is someone who, as we wrote not long ago, started his MTV career when many current generation Trifecta cast members were running around in their diapers. Mark Long was on the first season of Road Rules back in 1995 when MTV and Bunim-Murray Productions created a Real World spinoff of five strangers traveling across America on an RV and assigned to complete tasks to receive a handsome reward at trip's end. Mark went skydiving, rode a dog sled, dressed up as a clown, lived military boot camp and worked with Van Halen en route to receiving that reward of a trip around the world. And Mark then proceeded to do six Challenges starting on the very first one in 1999 and of course made that comeback on the first Battle of the Exes five years ago.
   Also joining them to ring in 2017: another old-schooler. In 2003, Adam King came to Real World Paris as a Stanford student and a '70s musician's son to enjoy some time living abroad in the heart of France. There, he partied up, got naked, learned to speak French, got into words with Leah, worked on a travel book on the City of Lights and, of course, fell in love with Paris locals. The most notable story, of course, was Adam getting into it with CT when the drunk Bostonian got into it with a patron at a local bar and then things boiled over between the two roommates. And as the story goes, on what would've been Adam's 3rd and CT's 6th Challenge, the two engaged in the ugliest brawl we have ever seen in Challenge history that saw the two leave The Duel II before the competition even began in New Zealand with nothing but blood on their faces. And obviously, that led to them being paired up on the first Rivals season, and being brought on by TJ when that season began in South America.

● And second, our first DCBLOG post of this year was, fittingly, a Trifecta post and our preview of Season 5 of Are You The One? which debuts tomorrow. Nearly half of this season's cast -- ten in all (remember, it's 22 this time) -- joined up in New York City to ring in the new year. Kari, Joey, Kam, Derrick, Jaylen, Edward, Alicia, Tyler, Taylor and Tyranny got together to have fun, hang out and bring in 2017, as well as prep themselves for the roller coaster ride that swings into full gear in over 24 hours from now. And three members of last season's cast joined them at the same club to help pass the torch from the Season 4 cast to Season 5 in Prosper, Giovanni and Tori.
   Well, if anything Trifecta-related is taking place in the Big Apple, it's likely that our fellow friend, loyal follower and big MTV fan David Olmann (@BigTymers228) will be at that event, just as he has in having met so many of Team MTV in the five years since I first got to know him on Twitter and became a regular caller into Andrew Kirk's webcasts. Big Dave got to meet and hang out with both the Season 5 cast and those three from Season 4 he met before as they welcomed in the new year and look forward to what awaits them coming up tomorrow night. This only adds having met P.Muna, Gio, Tori, Francesca and others from the AYTO crew, and so many others from the Real World and Challenge that he's met over the years...check out his Instagram to see those pictures with him and the cast. His pictures with them are located to your right.

JONNA GETS ENGAGED
Finally, we'd like send our congrats to Real World Cancun alum, five-time Challenger and new mom Jonna Mannion. She was one of the many in the Trifecta who had a life-changing moment this past year, and she had two of them. This past August in the heat of the summer, she welcomed a new baby in Naleigh, and five months later on Christmas weekend she got the biggest news of all.
   In an Instagram picture posted by her on the day after Christmas of December 26th, her boyfriend Kevin Stephens got on one knee, brought out of his pocket an engagement ring, and asked her the magic question of whether she would want to marry him? Of course, as the caption in her post reads, she got to say "YESπŸ’," and now a great post-MTV life awaits the girl who won Discovery's Endurance as a teenager, helped to introduce LMFAO on her original MTV season in Cancun (as we discussed here in November), and brought us some good memories along the way.
   Below are Instagram comments left on her post that accompanied the picture to the right, and we send our many congrats to them.
@justjem24: πŸ’œ
@jennacompono: Ahhh congrats!!!!

And on that positive note, that's how we see it for the season that was in Seattle, as that will bring to an end our coverage of Real World Bad Blood. Tomorrow, Andrew Kirk and I will recap the past year in the MTV Trifecta on Part 2 of Reality Debrief 2016, as we'll discuss the year in The Challenge, look back at Season 4 of Are You The One?, and of course preview Season 5 which premieres tomorrow night. That means, one last call to send your questions to us at #AskDCBLOG on Twitter, and we may use it on our review.
   Thanks for reading and join us back here tomorrow.
