Inside MTV Reality: The Challenge WRAP - Total Madness Episode 4

We are nearing the end of the month of April and May will be here in less than 48 hours, though we're about to reach month #3 of the quarantine despite early summer-like weather out west. But there's some good news: a new episode of The Challenge Total Madness takes to the air tonight, and we're about to enter month #2 of the action from Europe -- just as those of you visiting us from Britain got your first glimpse of all the action last night when it debuted there in the U.K.

For us here who have the several weeks' headstart, after what went down with Jay taking down C.T., last week saw one of Britain's most notorious reality stars take center stage inside the bunker, a breakout star of the past year go up against someone who shares a fiery persona, and the most dangerous challenge we've had in the past few years... and for the second straight week, a past champion was knocked out in the second female elimination while we got a glimpse into the future of who might rule the roost when it comes to politics in the house is concerned.

After the jump, a quick recap of last week's big moments ahead of what goes down tonight in the Czech Republic, and a look ahead to what we have coming up here. Welcome to hump day...

 THINGS TO KNOW
EPISODE 4  "Karma Chameleon"

BEAR SPARKS A FIRE: When we first found that Bear would be on War of the Worlds, there was some anticipation of what he would bring to our screens as it was with Cory going onto Bloodlines. Well, he has not disappointed since he arrived onto our shores for the first time last year as now you can add what goes down last week to his list of accomplishments: he is gradually becoming attracted to Kailah despite her having a man back home for a few years now. So what does Bear do? He decides to shoot a fire extinguisher around her bedroom. See and check it out...

If you watched Floribama over the offseason, Mattie came into the house at around the halfway mark and she had quite an emotional first night there. Later on, her new housemates had their episode with fire when their food container almost caught up in smoke during the 4th of July. It's when Bear blows that open that Ashley and Nany get mad at him and the former spits in his face... and it evolves into Ash getting into it with Mattie as she feels that as one who comes from the South, it's a sign of disrespect... and then Nany gets into it with Mattie as well. Again, see below.

IN THE ICY WATERS: In what seems to be every year or so, there's an instance where a challenge becomes so nerve-wracking that paramedics and an ambulance is waiting to take a player out for help. That's the case in challenge #4, where if they are brave enough to enter chilling waters that can cool down to as much as 50°F (10°C), they have to be even braver to endure that to get puzzle pieces down in that tundra and complete one on the deck. It's when Nelson, Kailah & Dee enter the water that they find how tough this is all about, and they are brought out of the water wearing hypothermia blankets... same goes for Cory, Bayleigh & Kyle when they, too, also get chilled out. Oh by the way, it's Rogan, Josh, Fessy and Aneesa who become power team, as does the person in #3...

HERE COMES BIG T: If past procedure of recognizing how many seasons a player has been on has its way, then Big T would still be considered a rookie after we saw only two episodes of her first time out. But it seems Big T has come out of her shell here in bringing that zest of energy to what would otherwise be an intense atmosphere in really having nothing to lose and wanting to make it to the end. And as part of the winning five-person tribunal (despite being outnumbered by the men in women's elimination week), Tula takes on the role of being the lead negotiator while the group is on their second night out in Prague. She might not have the experience of her elders, but soon enough we feel she will follow in Kam's lead in this power position.

CHAMP VS. CHAMP: In the end, though, it becomes a battle between Champ vs. Champ in the Purgatory: Dee taking on Ashley in a game that's about strategy more than anything, and you would have to rely on fate to give you an additional two weeks in this game. Instead of going one on one, they play a game featuring pots and puzzles, and the first to get their puzzle right with all of their tokens advances along... and though it's an early close battle in the end it becomes almost like a clinic with some outside help. It's no clue Dee & Wes are now each other's BFF since War of the Worlds (in this quarantine life, she's living with him in KC) and it's no surprise that he helps her crack the code of guessing which seasons are which in the symbols and she wins it going away.

💥  💥  💥

We are about to enter the month of May around here, and when the 'Pulse of tonight's episode is posted we will be right into the new month. And here's a glimpse of what's ahead on here...

After tonight's episode airs, we'll be looking in on the big news last week in MTV Nation: as last week's episode aired out west, the returning male star of this year's Challenge was busy going the joy of welcoming a new addition to his family for the second time. We'll introduce you to the new baby girl of Cory & MTV girlfriend Taylor in Baby Mila, whose identity was revealed online yesterday.

The Zoom reunions in the time of quarantine just continue to delight us: yesterday, the cast of Jackass reunited via the web on the twentieth anniversary of the TV debut of one of MTV's most controversial and biggest hits. There was another online reunion among those in the old school MTV landscape: we'll join the cast of Real World Boston for their celebration coming up on Friday.

And there are a bunch of other things that we are working on (and what might come up from out of the blue) that it's best just to stay tuned and to bookmark this site and subscribe to the notification buttons on my social media channels and to my email list so you don't miss any of these posts... and of course, be sure to like, comment and share, and tell a friend so they can also become fans of our insightful content. Enjoy tonight, Challenge Nation...
