Welcome back everyone... this has been quite a week in the world of sports: Thursday night marked Opening Day in Major League Baseball as it begins its 60-game sprint to the pennant, while Walt Disney World is playing host to the knockout rounds of Major League Soccer's summer tournament AND restart scrimmages for the NBA. Plus, the NFL made it official in granting approval for its 2020 season on time, while the NHL also prepares to restart as well - and there's also UFC, golf, NASCAR and a lot more - and we're one year out from the opening of the Tokyo Olympics.

All of these items are now taking shape here on this last weekend of July and they are awakening from a spring and summer's slumber, which has allowed the fifth major pro sport of MTV's The Challenge to take center stage with Season 35 of Total Madness. And last week saw a wintertime marathon to the finish line for the final nine competitors, who had to maneuver their way through the snow, the mountains, cold temperatures and each other to get to the end of a season that's seen this show become the center of the sports world.

At the end of all that, Britain's Jenny West outlasted everyone to get to the finish line first and keep a slice of The Challenge crown in UK control and score £390,000. But on this side of the Atlantic, it's Johnny Bananas that has all the attention as he returns to the winners circle with his unprecedented seventh Challenge title - his first since that memorable steal of Sarah's money on Rivals III. There's not controversy this time around, as everyone got to congratulate him and Jenny on conquering the summit to take Total Madness, and for a moment all feels right in our world.

And all that's left is for them and most of the cast to join former NFL player Vernon Davis to discuss all that's gone down during the season -- but like everything else that's happened this year, this Challenge reunion is taking place not in a studio, but in the comfort of their own homes and with Zoom software in tow. We'll bring you that coming up, plus we'll look ahead to what should your ideal postseason fix of The Challenge, thanks to one of its biggest fans. Thanks for joining us...

As we begin here, we're gonna do things a bit differently this time for the last 'Pulse diary of this Challenge season: those of you who follow our entire MTV Reality coverage know that we are also doing WRAP's for Siesta Key and A Double Shot at Love - the former we got to do just earlier tonight and the ladder which we'll have covered tomorrow. We also feature cast reaction from those shows in those recaps, but in that case the tweets are embedded rather than featured timeline style.
And because there wasn't as much interaction on this reunion as we are now into the postseason activities, we now bring you some embedded highlights from the Twitter sphere. Enjoy...

THE CAUCUS CHALLENGE: CAMPGROUND GAMES

It was three years ago last week that two of my good friends in the MTV Reality fandom got to join the Dirty 30 cast for pre-premiere activities before the first of what's now the new normal of The Challenge: giving away $1 million. One of them, David Olmann, got to add a double-digit amount of those castmates to a number no one will ever reach in the amount of those from the MTV family that he's gotten to meet up, and we'll have on that in a later post this offseason.

The other is Andres Rodriguez, who got to spend quality time with Kailah, Jenna and the rest of the cast when they got to conduct workout sessions for him, Big Dave and other fellow Challenge fans prior to the premiere of The Challenge XXX. It was that meeting that led off our ExtraTime look at his one-of-a-kind Caucus Challenge YouTube series that he began doing while he was going to high school in his hometown of Secaucus, New Jersey, and he's done many more of those seasons since, as well as the Real World-like spinoff The Life We Live.

Like everything else, production on Caucus has been on hold due to the Covid pandemic, but that doesn't mean Dre has shut down his YouTube commitments entirely: there's the ongoing TLWL season taking place in Upstate New York, as well as his own episode recaps. But it's our story on this local phenomenon that is mostly the reason why he gets to do his own homemade Challenge show in the first place, and to coincide with the conclusion of Total Madness he introduced us to what's next.

Below, the trailer for what he has coming up: a summer camp version of Caucus Challenge. The video's description reads, "20 of my dysfunctional, CRAZY, and competitive family members have showed up on our summer camping trip to compete on the Challenge. With new a NEW cast, different twists, and a complete new terrain, will my family have what it takes to survive our once called backyard games? Stay tuned - Welcome to The Caucus Challenge: Campground Games."

Tomorrow, you are all cordially invited to the summer's biggest bash: a pool party thrown by Jersey Shore's Pauly D. and Vinny, featuring Mike the Situation and a cast of thousands... including the nine kids that comprise the Season 2 cast of A Double Shot At Love. You do not want to miss it.

And speaking of YouTube, be sure to follow my own channel at YouTube.com/dc408dxtr... I don't recap MTV stuff there myself, but if you are a Vegas nut as I am do join in tonight for not one, but TWO videos to be posted there tonight including one with never-before-seen footage. We also have more good content planned for your enjoyment starting next month with new video from my past trips to Sin City. Enjoy those, and have a great Saturday everyone.
