Over the past few years, something that has been keeping those who follow MTV's The Challenge talking from Wednesday to Wednesday has been what's been going on with your favorite competitors when the cameras aren't rolling. Just browsing the social media platforms of these players, both regulars of this series or those who've done any of the thirty-six seasons of this, and you are treated to what their lives are like when we're not scrutinizing their moves in the bubble of that Challenge house.

A popular item for all of us to buzz about over the years -- and also give us plenty to send our congrats to them for -- has been of when the people we know and love either get engaged or married, or when they celebrate the impending and eventual arrival of the newest member of their family: a baby. And despite having to go through an ordeal of having to go through so much bad news in what will soon be a full year since the announcement of COVID becoming a pandemic - and it coming shortly after the cast was revealed for the fittingly titled Total Madness, there has been a lot of positive stories involving pregnancies and engagements with those who we know and love in the fifth major pro sport.

And last Sunday on Valentine's Day as we are in the midst of the ongoing lockdown as well as the current season of Double Agents airing, we had the biggest profile reveal of an all-Challenge baby as not one, but two new parents to be made it official on top of them planning to get married. We also can't forget that there is someone else in Challenge Nation also expecting, and one who also knows what it's like to be part of a high-profile couple in the public limelight of this show we love. And two of them competed on the very same (and last rare non-Bananas) season on Battle of the Seasons II.

  JENNA & ZACH

At this time six years ago, we first saw the man who won that 2012 BOTS challenge as a rookie, Zach Nichols, lay his eyes on Jenna Compono when they were competing on Battle of the Exes 2 -- he had relationships with three past Real World alums, and she was lucky to be here as Jay Gotti's ex after they were in San Francisco on their RW season a year earlier. They had no idea that their flirting in that Challenge season would blossom into something much more.

Since then, just about everyone in Challenge Nation has expressed their opinion on Zach & Jenna, from some voicing their displeasure of him given his previous public Challenge relationship with Jonna Mannion especially during Exes 2, to others wanting her to break things off on him for somewhat questionable things in their relationship, especially when they took a break for some time before getting back together for good. But regardless of how you feel about them, it was meant to be that this relationship would turn from something that might be considered a "showmance" into the latest big couple in this MTV Reality world.

On the pre-Christmas weekend in 2019, the couple paid a visit to the world-famous Rockefeller Plaza Christmas tree on the night Eddie Murphy returned to Saturday Night Live. And outside of 30 Rock, he went down on one knee holding an engagement ring in his hand, popped the magic question, and they became an engaged couple amidst the glow and warmth of the holidays and its most famous symbol in this country. By now, they would be just a few months away from the crowning moment of their journey, but a five-letter & two-numbered code had something to do with pushing back wedding day.

But as they are now enjoying some time away from competing on The Challenge after she bowed out on Total Madness last year, Valentine's Day last Sunday offered the next chapter for Zach & Jenna. There, they jointly announced on their Instagram accounts the pending arrival this coming August of Baby Nichols, as they now join the so many in this community who will now be starting to prepare for all of what comes with, what we like to call on here, that ultimate of life's challenges in raising a kid.

But as Jenna is used to being a babysitter to those in her inner circle, this will be old hat once the hard part of the three trimesters are up -- the experience of getting to nurture that baby boy or girl that she and Zach can call their own will be a new one. She will be joining Cory Wharton and Jenny Delich as parents within those who got to do The Real World Ex-Plosion seven years ago, while he will be the second in his Back to San Diego cast to ascend to parenthood behind... his Surf City ex Ashley Kelsey.

She wrote in her IG announcement, "Happy Valentine’s Day! Zach & I are expecting our first baby. After our wedding was postponed, we decided to start the next chapter of our lives. It really wasn’t a hard decision for us, we were both super excited and ready. Luckily, we were fortunate enough to get pregnant on our first try and have had zero complications regarding my first trimester. We are truly blessed and we can’t wait to meet our little one in August πŸ‘ΆπŸΌ❤️."  And he captioned wrote in his photo, "Happy Valentine’s Day! I gave Jenna some lovin, and she’s giving me a family. I have never been this excited. August couldn’t come soon enough... because that is when Jenna will officially be a milf ❤️πŸ‘ΆπŸ»."

Of course, a story like this will waves within Challenge Nation almost instantly, and two of those in Jenna's Holy Trilogy from the Czech bunker chimed in with Nany writing, "Andddd the secret is finally out! You’re going to be the BEST mama ever, Jen.. I have not one doubt ❤️ Love you forever and I cannot wait to meet my new best friend," and Kailah adding, "Ahhh the pics came out soo good!! love you, I’m so excited for you guys πŸ₯°♥️." And Jenna's Bloodlines partner who got into that infamous argument about that local bakery, Brianna, added, "Congratulations!!!!!! IM SO EXCITED!!!! πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°."

  MELINDA

Zach & Jenna are only part of a slew of famous couples in the history of The Challenge ecosystem - both including those handful who are still together like Cara Maria & Paulie, and those who are broken up... and there are so many in that ladder category alone. And this list of countless couples doesn't take into account those who were formed on The Real World, on Road Rules, on Are You The One?, Ex On The Beach and the other MTV shows that have contributed talent to any particular Challenge season.

But one of those who knows what it's like to be part of a beloved Challenge couple is Milwaukee native Melinda Stolp-Collins, who was one-half of one of those when she got engaged to and was married for a few years to Boston resident Danny Jamieson after they met on The Real World Austin back in 2005. Like him, she competed in several Challenges after they left the Texas state capital - including when they competed as part of the Austin team on that BOTS season in 2021, and she is now part of that trending world of podcasts... but despite contributing to some episodes of Challenge Mania, her own show focuses more on true crime, listener stories and a bit of hilarity with her friend Gina Voge on The Blonde Moments Podcast.

Also on Valentine's Day, Mel announced on her Instagram that she, too, is expecting, and her second child will also come August. She and husband Matt are already mommy & daddy to 15 month old daughter Camden and their dog Gatsby, who will now have a fifth member to their family there in Cheesehead Country. She wrote, "To our happiness and delight, Matty and I are making Camden & Gatsby big brothers this August!! πŸ’• We cannot wait to meet our little bundle of joy!! 🀍 #boymom #girlmom #oneluckylady"

A fellow Challenge alum turned mom to two kids, two-time titlist Paula "Walnuts" Beckert, led the congratulatory messages in writing, "Awwweeeeeeee!!!! Baby girl! She’s gonna be a beauty just like her mama." And our congrats go out to Melinda, to Zach and to Jenna... summer 2021 will be a memorable one in both of their worlds.
