The MTV Love WRAP: Are You The One? Global - Heaven, Hell, Triangles & a Match

BY DC CUEVA

Hello there again... it's the second weekend of February, and you still got some time to make your plans for the abundance of Valentine's Day activities that are on offer in a few days -- from dinner dates at the local restaurant to classroom candy giveaways. We're also in the midst of a juicy time in love TV as we're a few weeks into MTV's Are You The One?, and the Paramount+ Global Season... and if you're in Australia don't even bare to read below though you will have the pleasure of getting to see this debut on the magic day of this Tuesday (Monday for us Americans).

The first two weeks of our first AYTO since 2019 have certainly offered a whole lot: first night hookups, a first-ever first matchup blackout, and as of last time out: awkwardness. Leo's choice to pick CC on his getaway date backfired on the former basketballer and Holey Moley contestant, as the house tried to pick up the pieces from losing $250,000 right out of the gate and trying desperately to perform some damage control as a result of that. But despite that misstep, it appears that the house has righted the ship to finally get on the board with their first two light beams in week two.

If you're a longtime fan of MTV love, then you know that partying is something else in this world -- and it makes those opening night orientations on The Bachelor feel like they're intimate social gatherings.
We can think of the white party that the Season 1 originals had back then, Nelson dressing up as a lobster in the Ex On The Beach villa, or that crazy time in Vegas on Double Shot at Love. And, there is also the matter of what is a no-no in this game... after the break, we have the latest addition to that list of fun after dark and a non-match not separating as Weeks 3 & 4 of Are You The One? Global throw a Love & Lust Party and a dose of good news from the Suites on our Love WRAP.

     THINGS TO KNOW
Ep. 4 - "Love Is Heaven, Finding It Is Hell"
and Ep. 5 - "Wants and Needs"

❤️ A TALE OF THREES, & NON-MATCHES - After what happened to begin our stay in Spain, that brutal $250,000 wakeup call that served to remind our singles of the high stakes they're going for has certainly gotten to them. And for the third challenge, it's a tale of threes that takes over: a 2-on-1 date with two guys and a girl going out... in the end, it's Will who gets chosen with Taylor over Ollie as they go parasailing out in the sea -- but they go in and out of the Truth Booth a no-match.
But it's hardly the only thing on the house's mind: if you're been watching this thing over the years, then you know how much of a pain in the butt seeing a confirmed non-match couple stay together. You can think off the top of your head of Shanley & Chris T., Christina & Brandon, Gianna & Hayden and others... this time, it's Leo and Brooke.

❤️ HEAVEN & HELL - Any time there's a party taking place in MTV land -- a Challenge house, in Siesta Key or that memorable Floribama family outing, then it is sure to be just as fun and as eventful as any. For our latest shindig, it's AYTO's take on the Heaven & Hell party that we had five years ago on the first Ex season... and here, there is no shortage in sights of guys and girls getting dressed up as angels and devils. And there's no shortage in seeing plenty of hookups - especially two foreigners.

❤️ FOURSCORE - The third matchup sees the men take back the chores of choosing the women, but knowing what happened last time the onus is on them to make sure they don't screw up like it was for Hamudi calling the wrong name & getting penalized. This second try for the gentlemen does go much better than they expected: four beams - and that includes the first repeat picks. And all that comes in spite of this awkward moment...

❤️ MATCH DOWN UNDER - Premiere Week saw Brandan take the role of being the F-boy of our bunch -- if you can count the number of kisses he had in week 1, you're sure that he is deserving of that role. The fourth getaway week sees him figure in the top two and he chooses Julia Ruth to go on a date along the Canary skyline... and after they hooked up on that first night and got closer after that, it is only a matter before they get chosen for Truth Booth #4 -- and they're the first to get those lucky words.

❤️ BACK DOWN BELOW - For matchup #4, it's the ladies who get their second crack at choosing their men... but knowing that they will ultimately decide the whole thing if we go the distance they feel the heat of having to pick once again. Four repeat picks take place among the whole group, but it only nets them one beam in their race to get to ten after Brendan & Julia Ruth.

   STRATEGY ROOM
Triangle Talk, and
A Tale of Two Weeks
Data Courtesy: AYTO Math

Usually we would see two or more pairs be put up for the Truth Booth house vote while they whisk off on their date... but Week 3 saw something we really haven't seen before on AYTO but one that, if you spend your Monday with the rest of Bachelor Nation, you're pretty much used to seeing: a two for one deal. The "stay tuned" like teaser we gave at the end of our Week 2 Strategy Room on Friday hinted at what would become the possible settling of our season's first love triangle... and we love seeing those here. And it's worth taking a look at a past instance of triangles being settled in the Truth Booth...
Back when this all began, there were two of them on Season 1 which eventually became the factor that clinched the $1 million nine years ago in nine rounds: once the #Cranley mess subsided, Week 7 saw the Ryan-Kayla-Wes triangle begin to take shape in the Truth Booth -- Aladdin went in that week and was a no-match, followed the next week by the ladder and emerged a match. And in what ultimately decided this whole thing, the Scali-Jacy-JJ triangle was untangled with the comedian going in with her in Week 9 (a no-match), then swapping with the Brooklynite... and it was all over.

Turning to the Race to 11, when we saw the house agonize over that week 1 blackout we couldn't fathom that we'd be saying that at the season's first quarter-mark that they'd be going ahead in the count. And it's worth a reminder of a little thing we've used on here is that a game like AYTO is one of momentum... one week you have a sense of optimism and the next you're feeling down. And weeks 3 and 4 of this game have been a tale of two stories meshed into this whole thing: reason to be happy in one, the other just sheer panic.

The biggest milestone so far has been of getting that first match on the board in Brandan & Julia Ruth, and now that they've dropped beams for the first time the focus should now shift to those who have good chances of being one of those beams from the last two weeks. Since Anissa & Aqel are the first to pair up in back-to-back weeks this season, AYTO Math estimates that they have about a 44% chance of being that one beam in Matchup #4. The house should use this logic to pray that either of them win this coming week's challenge (and let's be real, it's not the same compared to those in the past), go on the date and get everyone's pick to go into the Booth... same will go for Clay & CC and Ollie & Brooke on being among those four beams and also have even-money chances on being matches.

   EX MOMENT OF THE WEEK
The Couples Arrive

Ex On The Beach is back once again for Season 6, where this time the focus is on couples taking to the sand. However with a totally new cast in order along with our focus on AYTO and both this & the next seasons of The Challenge, this time we've chosen to scale down our weekly coverage to just featuring the week's top moment in our Love WRAP... and for every EOTB season there is always a first chance to impress, and it is our top moment. And we'll see you tomorrow night after the big game for Semifinal Week on Ride or Dies... enjoy your Valentine's weekend, lovers.
