If the sentiment given by Challenge Mania co-host Scott Yager is holding true, then 2021 as MTV sees it has been so good so far... but it hasn't just been about just the beat he (and us) covers the most. After we saw her baby gender reveal party on this week's finale, Teen Mom Tuesdays are transitioning from Cheyenne Floyd and the OG ladies to their TM2 counterparts with a friend of the mommy to be, Jade Cline of the Young & Pregnant 4th generation, taking the spot vacated by Chelsea Houska. And we've just wrapped up an emotional Homecoming trip down memory lane with the cast of the first season of The Real World in New York on Paramount+, three decades after they launched this entire genre.
Right now, we are in the final stages of Season 36 of The Challenge as the four sets of Double Agents are contesting the $1 million final up in Iceland, just south of the Arctic Circle. As it has been in every regular season since Rivals I, this finale is a two-day final split into two parts, and with our utmost respect to those who are cord-cutters and who are preferring to watch both parts back-to-back, we'll be carrying over our usual weekly SocialPulse diary of episode interaction into next week during an expanded weekend of episode content. But that doesn't mean that this week hasn't been eventful: this week has week 3 of The Challenge All-Stars on Paramount+ and another visitor to the Floribama Shore bubble in Montana... and we'll have those ahead in this week's set of goodies.
And as far as what we've got now and what we have coming up in this, there is plenty... drama, love and a first look at who we'll be getting to see when we get set to cover a regular Challenge season later this year. And we'll have the chance to gather around our crystal ball to take a Look Ahead at what we got in store in the spring and summer in the world of MTV Reality just to come...
THE CHALLENGE
SEASON 37
"Lies, Spies & Allies"
(Working Title)
Because of the nature of how we do things around here of focusing on supplementing your favorite podcasts, other sites and other things with our brand of Challenge coverage on here, we don't get to do much in the game of speculation around what is referred to in baseball and hockey circles as the hot stove - it's terminology for chatter on rumors, free agency, trades and other things in those sports especially during the offseason. But as we're getting to watch the finale of Double Agents and the early stages of All-Stars, it's never not too early to take a peek at what the fifth major pro sport has next.
As it is here with Double Agents, the times were are in mean safety, health and well-being is on the minds of everyone especially as the word "vaccine" has been on the minds of most of us. Obviously, as this DCBLOG site stays true to the collective slogan I've been using of this and my YouTube channel being "The Escape You Deserve," as it was last fall we will not delve into more specifics about those, although we can say that the production team behind this effort put on a terrific job pulling off this season in a pandemic and we're sure they'll do just as good a job for Season 37.
As we mentioned, those who've been drafted to compete here are in the last stages of their 2-week quarantine before they fly on out of our social feeds for their extended summer vacation... and as it was for Double Agents and All-Stars those who will be making the flight out will also include several alternates who will be ready to replace anyone at any time in case someone tests positive. And while we didn't get to mention about it here for the ladder, the All-Stars chosen at the Taxi Squad of sorts were: Casey and Ryan from Fresh Meat II, Cooke from RW Back to Vegas, Sophia from Jisela and Katie's Road Rules Quest season and Cohutta of KellyAnne's Real World Sydney season.
As they haven't left as of yet, obviously we do not know anything about how Season 37 will be -- individual-, partner- or team-based, elimination procedure, show title and everything else. And for the most important part of this: the cast for this season should again have something for everyone that will cater to fans of this show and reality TV in general as Viacom and CBS continue to cuddle. But after it joined Paramount+ here and Netflix globally, this will especially cater to the region for which this next Challenge will take place in of Europe, which perhaps may mean a third War of the Worlds is coming.

One thing's for certain: we will have our hands full when we do our "Who Are These Newbies?" introduction to the rookies coming then.

LOVE, MTV STYLE
DOUBLE SHOT S3 and
MATCH ME IF YOU CAN
We have become accustomed around here to getting to enjoy Love, MTV Style and the channel's take on the reality dating genre in Are You The One? and Ex On The Beach during the heat of the summer. But for obvious reasons, last year it was limited to just one show that wasn't either of them, but instead Jersey Shore's take on love in A Double Shot at Love with the resident bromance of Pauly D. & Vinny. They, along with Maria from AYTO Season 7, the DJ's girl Nikki and others from that first season took their talents to Las Vegas for what became 2020's only summer pool party on the Strip.
After that fun Season 2 that might as well be referred to as Las Vegas Shore, this year's quest for love in the world of fist pumps and fun will focus in on just Vinny this time... but Pauly and Nikki will be along for the ride too to help in the process of finding his perfect match. One thing will be sure: it will be awk-ward as Vinny tries to realize the premise that third time is indeed the charm.
But before we join them for Season 3 of DSAL, there is something new when it comes to MTV's array of dating shows. We've seen how tough it is to find a perfect match in the boom boom room, having to deal with exes coming back into your life or anything else. But the newest offering of dating television as MTV sees it should sure change the game -- and this should be the must-watch dating show out there before Tayshia Adams & Kaitlyn Bristowe will help Katie Thurston find her new man.
Three of those who we know from having appeared on recent MTV seasons will be joined by five others from across the wide world of reality TV outside the MTV borders, with Love is Blind's Lauren Speed Hamilton serving as hostess. Together, they'll be part of a month-long crossover dating series that will be different from what we're accustomed to from other romantic reality shows in having surprising pairings and unexpected surprises that will make for a fun time - inspired by the newest member of the Pepsi soda line.
Ashley the Millionaire of The Challenge, Big Brother and two-time Challenger Natalie Negrotti, and a member of AYTO's sexually-fluid Season 8 cast, Kylie Smith, will represent Team MTV on Match Me If You Can. And they'll be joined by a past subject of our Someone You Should Know subseries, Too Hot to Handle's Harry Jowsey, fellow Netflix reality star in the winner of Season 1 of The Circle Joey Sasso, Bachelor Nation alums Eric Bigger (Rachel Lindsay's Bachelorette season) and Onyeka Ehie (Colton Underwood's Bachelor season), and Kyra Green from Season 1 of Love Island USA.

DRAMA WEDNESDAY
SIESTA AND THE HILLS TAKE OVER
Just as soon as the reunion for Double Agents, Challenge Wednesday will transition for the summer into Drama Wednesday. And as much as you might loathe for not having the fifth major pro sport on the MTV channel itself, those of you who love drama as much as I do will look forward to keeping that Hump Day date thanks to the intoxicating drama we love from those reality soaps.
Audrina, Heidi, Whitney and Spencer from that iconic Hills cast are back as are Jason, Justin "Bobby", Brody, Frankie and their assorted significant others... so will be rocker's son Brandon Thomas Lee. And while this year's newcomer is accomplished in her own right in model, DJ and pizza parlor owner Caroline D'Amore, everyone is anticipating the return to town of the first of the two female leads of The Hills: that would be Kristin Cavallari. You all are not ready for the queen bee walking in, right?
We'll take a deep dive at Season 4 also before it debuts on May 12, but for a small gist of what to expect this summer from Florida: Juliette and Kelsey will be busy launching their new businesses as the former also gets cozy with her man Sam, Brandon taking on his unexpected journey into becoming a dad, Madisson getting ready for her big day with her former producer turned fiancé Ish... and we can't forget about Chloe, Garrett and Amanda as well as that newbie in town too. You will want to tune in an hour early for what the Siesta kids have in store this summer in their paradise.

This spring as things are just getting back to a sense of normalcy in this country, Dre and friends set off for their next adventure and trip out of the Tri-State area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut for Season 6 of The Life We Live. In the spirit of wanting to keep that suspense, we will not reveal the exact destination of where they're going this time around - though it will be in a warmer climate than it was in Colorado Springs to begin the new year.
